Ollie tends to spend most of his time painting in his room. He makes quite a bit of money off of them, and it's really helping him build his bank account.

Today is  National Popcorn Day, and we can’t help but think of Purdue graduate Orville Redenbacher (A’1928, HDR A’88), also known as the “Popcorn King.” Orville Redenbacher’s Gourmet Popping Corn has been a household staple since 1970 when Redenbacher and his partner Charles Bowman entered the gourmet popcorn business with Marshall Field & Co. in Chicago as their first customer. Since then, Boilermakers everywhere have enjoyed this buttery movie theater snack!

This is one of my current projects. I always thought Willow Creek in Sims 4 looked nice but the lack of story really bothered me. So I decided to recreate the neighbourhood in Sims 2 while also adding more plot to the already existing households. I'm personally recreating the residential lots and community lots, which also inlcudes areas you can't edit in Sims 4 such as the community park in Foundry Cove. I'm also adding official EA gallery sims as townies such as Ollie Purdue, June Kay, etc. I'm still debating if I should add additional households to play as since there are only four in Willow Creek and I feel like that's not enough.
When I'm done with the neighbourhood I will make it available for download.

Been watching @lilsimsie streams way too much and watching her leave her sims unpaused for 24h inspired me to create a household and a house just like that. The house layout is basically the same as hers because I just wanted to whip something together very quickly and just start "playing".
It's been fun watching them wander around while I either watch youtube or put together a puzzle etc.
The household currently consists of the OG sims you can find in your gallery - Babs L'Amour, Andre DaSilva, Steve Fogel, June Kay, Cassidy Purdue, and Ollie Purdue.

Writer’s block revisited
Of all the tools and techniques I employ as a writer, it is the one I use the most. When I experience writer's block, I take a walk.
I did it just this morning. Faced with solving a plot hole in Annie's Apple, my current work in progress, I took a walk, cleared my mind, and came up with a fix. I did what I couldn't do sitting still.
Others favor different approaches. As I noted in a blog post eight years ago, the web is full of suggestions. Purdue University Global offers seven, including some that are rooted in common sense. Like other online sources, it urges writers to declutter their workspaces, develop good habits, and write in manageable chunks.
More advice can be found at SmartBlogger, The Writer, Writer's Digest, Writers.com, Inc. Magazine, and other sites. SmartBlogger encourages writers to "talk to an imaginary friend," "curse like a sailor," "chug some caffeine," "browse your photo albums," and "wash the dishes." (My wife would like the last suggestion.)
I still prefer walking. When I am out and about, I can focus, solve problems, and sometimes create. I can do the things I often cannot do while staring at a blank page on a computer screen.
More often than not, I will think of more ideas and remedies than I can track in my mind. Even on a walk of fifteen to twenty minutes, I will resort to taking notes on my phone or on a small notepad.
Most writers, of course, know all about the importance of taking notes. They know that inspiration does not always strike at convenient times or places. They become proficient at recording even minor and seemingly unimportant details for future use.
So the next time the words don't come, take a walk with a notepad. Get outdoors and away from household distractions. You may find that writer's block is little more than a temporary affliction.

Spark Solutions: Mastering Common Electrical Repairs in Glendale, AZ
When it comes to home maintenance, there's one area that often gets overlooked until it's too late – electrical repairs. From flickering lights to malfunctioning outlets, electrical issues can disrupt daily life and even pose safety hazards. That's why it's essential for every homeowner in Glendale, AZ, to have a basic understanding of common electrical problems and how to address them.
The Importance of Electrical Repairs
Your home's electrical system is like its nervous system – if something goes awry, it can have far-reaching consequences. Ignoring electrical issues can lead to power outages, damaged appliances, and in worst cases, fires. That's why knowing how to tackle common electrical repairs is not just a convenience, but a necessity.
Flickering Lights: A Common Quandary
Have you ever experienced lights flickering intermittently, as if they have a mind of their own? This is a common issue in many households and can be caused by several factors. It could be a loose bulb, a faulty switch, or even a problem with the electrical circuit.
Solution: Start by checking if the bulb is screwed in tightly. If that doesn't solve the issue, try replacing the bulb. If the problem persists, it's best to consult a professional electrician in Glendale, AZ, who can diagnose and fix the underlying problem.
Dead Outlets: A Source of Frustration
Plugging in an appliance only to find that the outlet is unresponsive can be frustrating, to say the least. This is a common electrical problem, and while it may seem serious, it often has a straightforward solution.
Solution: Begin by checking the circuit breaker. Sometimes, a tripped breaker can cause outlets to lose power. If that doesn't resolve the issue, it might be a problem with the outlet itself, which may need to be replaced by a skilled electrician.
Circuit Overloads: Know Your Limits
In today's tech-savvy world, it's easy to overload a circuit by plugging in too many devices at once. When this happens, you may experience a sudden loss of power in one area of your home.
Solution: To prevent circuit overloads, be mindful of how many appliances you have plugged in at any given time. If you frequently encounter this issue, consider consulting an electrician in Glendale, AZ, about adding additional circuits to your home's electrical system.
Tripped Breakers: A Safety Mechanism
A circuit breaker is designed to trip when it senses an overload or a short circuit, preventing electrical fires. While this is a safety feature, it can be inconvenient when it happens frequently.
Solution: If you find your circuit breaker is tripping often, it's a sign that there's an underlying issue that needs attention. A professional electrician can inspect your electrical system to identify and rectify the problem.
When to Call a Professional
While some electrical repairs can be tackled by the average homeowner, there are times when it's best to call in the experts. If you're unsure about the nature of the problem or if you're uncomfortable working with electrical components, it's always safer to seek professional help.
In Glendale, AZ, there are skilled electricians who are well-versed in a wide range of electrical repairs. They have the experience and expertise to handle complex issues and ensure the safety and functionality of your home's electrical system.
Conclusion
Mastering common electrical repairs is an essential skill for any homeowner in Glendale, AZ. By understanding these basic solutions, you can address minor issues before they escalate into major problems. However, always remember that safety comes first, and if you're ever in doubt, it's best to consult a professional electrician. With the right knowledge and resources, you can keep your home's electrical system running smoothly and safely for years to come.

At Louisville, Brohm's QB reputation draws a crowd
Tumblr media
You don’t always have to rifle the stat sheets to determine a coach’s reputation as a quarterback guru. At Louisville, you just need to look at the crowd in the quarterback room. In an age when few players seem willing to sit for any length of time, no fewer than 9 would-be gunslingers are taking QB reps during Jeff Brohm’s first preseason in Louisville, even after he added a presumptive starter in veteran Jack Plummer.
It speaks not only to his ability to put together high-octane passing attacks, but to the success he’s had preparing players to make the most of NFL opportunities when they have gotten them. Brohm’s offenses have ranked in the Top 25 in FBS in passing in 8 of his 9 seasons as a head coach, often without household names throwing or catching the passes. He has molded guys like Mike White (WKU) into QBs who could make the most of NFL starting chances. David Blough (Purdue) has a chance to be the opening week starter in Arizona, and 2023 Las Vegas Raiders draftee Aidan O’Connell (Purdue) has turned heads in his first preseason games.
For Plummer, familiarity was just one of the reasons he transferred from California to rejoin Brohm at Louisville. He played 4 seasons for Brohm at Purdue, appearing in 21 games with 13 starts over the final 3.
Tumblr media
“Well, a lot of it is the system and it's a great system,” Plummer said. “The plan is very quarterback-friendly. I mean every quarterback he's had back to Western Kentucky has played in the NFL and some are still playing in the NFL. That's something that's drawn me. My goals are to play at the next level and I think that this a this place will help me do that. Being at California was good for me, just getting a lot of game experience, starting all 12 games and learning that way, now coming back to a system that I know and like playing in, with familiarity with the coaches. I think it was a good decision.“ Jeff’s younger brother Brian, Louisville’s QB coach and co-offensive coordinator, says they’re glad to have someone who is deeply familiar with the system in their first year at Louisville. “It's showtime for Jack,” Brohm said. “It's his sixth year. He's been a starter in multiple programs, done a really good job, both Purdue and at Cal. He's a veteran guy and I think he's kind of earned that right. . . . He's really smart. He understands football, understands coverages defenses, fronts, blitzes -- to the point where he can correct us coaches sometimes where he sees something. . . . He's got good athleticism. He's got good size, good pocket awareness and he throws a good football. So, he has a lot of the traits that you're looking for in your quarterback. We're always working on being consistently accurate. That's one thing we're always trying to improve.”
Brohm's system: "Quarterback friendly"
If you’re looking for how Jeff Brohm differs as a quarterback-friendly coach than, say, Scott Satterfield, who left Louisville for Cincinnati after last season, there’s no one better to ask than Brock Domann. He started 4 games for the Cardinals last season, and is back in the club’s crowded QB room this year.
“There’s a lot more reading involved,” Domann said. “Last year in Satt’s offense, it was very strict. Like, 1-2-3 to 4, where in this offense we still have reads, but there’s a little more flexibility of like, ‘Hey, make a play. Get the first down.’ There’s a little more allowing you to see it differently. Because, both (Brohms) being quarterbacks they understand that my vantage point is different from anyone else’s. You know, one’s in the booth and one’s on the sideline, but you’re on the field and they just want you to take over. I really love that. I think you’re going to see a really high level of quarterback play because of that freedom.”
Dohman said he got very comfortable with Satterfield’s more structured system, but is re-settling into Brohm’s allowing QBs to “play more free.”
Tumblr media
Brady Allen is another quarterback who followed Brohm to Louisville from Purdue. The 6-5, 215-pound redshirt freshman from Fort Branch, Ind., says Brohm asks a lot of his quarterbacks.
“You’ve got to have toughness, you know, you’ve got to be smart,” Allen said. “I think his big three things are, smart, tough and accurate. And I think, you know, you look at everybody in NFL and those, those traits are very, very common. And they’re the three big traits he demands of us.”
The Brohm Playbook: "An answer for everything"
His playbook also is demanding. That lone was a shock for returning players, and for those who transfered in. Harrison Bailey, a 6-5, 225 transfer from UNLV who also played at Tennessee said that Brohm’s reputation, and some ties to players on the roster, brought him to Louisville.
“I would say coach Jeff and coach Brian are masterminds of college football,” Bailey said. “There’s an answer for everything. We have so many plays, it’s ridiculous – more than I’ve ever even learned in my time. But we literally have an answer for everything, so whatever they throw at us, we should have an answer for.”
Brian Brohm said the complexity of the playbook can play dividends.
“We’re an NFL-style system” he said. “When I say that, I mean we’re going to be multiple. We’re going to have different formations, different personnel, and we’re going to change things up week to week. And our guys have to learn that – why we’re doing it, how we’re attacking a defense. There are systems out there that aren’t as complex. Everyone has their own way of doing it. But we like to have a lot of different ways that we can attack a defense. So we have a lot of different stuff; therefore our guys have to learn a lot of football.”
Jeff Brohm played for Dennis Lampley at Trinity, then Howard Schnellenberger at Louisville. He went to the NFL and played for Bobby Ross in San Diego, and went to a Super Bowl. With Washington a year later, he played for Norv Turner. In San Francisco he played for George Seifert and Steve Mariucci. A year later he went to Tampa Bay and played behind Trent Dilfer for head coach Tony Dungy. In 1999, he played for Mike Shanahan in Denver.
Those are some high powered mentors, and some great offensive minds. In the college game, he learned from Bobby Petrino.
“You take a little from every stop, and you mold it to make it your own,” Brohm said. “And you try to take a guy with some ability, and put a system around him that can make him successful.”
That’s what he’s hoping to do with Plummer this season.
The closest thing Brohm has likely ever had to a young phenom was his brother, Brian, who now is Louisville’s quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. Brian was drafted by the Green Bay Packers. He has the advantage of having played for his brother, so he knows the demands on the quarterbacks he’s coaching.
Tumblr media
And the pair might have something of a phenom in 4-star prospect Pierce Clarkson, who missed most of spring with a foot injury but has shown some impressive flashes in preseason camp.
“Pierce was here in the spring but didn't get the reps,” Brohm said. “So now he's getting the reps to go along with that. He's done a really good job in the meeting rooms of knowing what to do answering questions. So, he's very in tune that way and now we just need to get him on the field and let him go out there and execute.”
As the season approaches, the quarterback room brings an impressive comfort level to Louisville coaches. In a first season – at any school – that’s a luxury.

The ‘Public Nuisance’ Menace
By David B. Rivkin, Jr., and O. H. Skinner
August 17, 2023, in the Wall Street Journal
Hawaii’s Supreme Court hears oral arguments Thursday in Honolulu v. Sunoco, a lawsuit brought by the state’s largest city against a group of energy companies. Honolulu alleges that the defendants have created a “public nuisance” by producing fossil fuels that emit greenhouse gases when burned. The companies argue that they are already subject to federal regulation, which supersedes any claim under state law.
Activist groups are increasingly attempting to use public-nuisance lawsuits to impose policies that they’ve failed to persuade lawmakers to enact. The list of industries under assault is long and growing. One set of public-nuisance actions targets firearm manufacturers. It was launched on behalf of local governments in New York state by plaintiff lawyers, with the firm Napoli Shkolnik, fresh from a successful action against pharmaceutical companies, serving as lead counsel. Other cases pursue chemical companies for producing so-called forever chemicals, which have been lawfully used for decades in making and packaging countless household and personal-hygiene products.
Public-nuisance lawsuits also attack beverage companies for using plastic bottles, leading to litter on beaches. School districts are suing tech companies claiming that their social-media platforms endanger children. Several cities have sued Hyundai and Kia alleging that certain cars they make are “too easy to steal.”
The financial stakes are high. The opioid cases—brought against drug manufacturers, distributors and retail pharmacy chains—have generated more than $55 billion in settlements. (Last week the U.S. Supreme Court stayed a settlement between plaintiffs and bankrupt Purdue Pharma, pending an appeal that the justices will hear in December.) The litigation against “forever chemicals” manufacturers, which is still in the early stages, has already led to more than $11 billion in tentative settlements. Given the apocalyptic rhetoric around climate change and gun violence, lawsuits against gun and energy companies, if successful, could yield hundreds of billions of dollars in damages.
Their lawsuits feature profoundly flawed theories of liability that threaten the fabric of U.S. law. Under traditional common law, a paradigmatic public nuisance suit involves clearly unlawful conduct, such as running a brothel or drug house in a residential neighborhood, blocking a public right of way, or operating a factory that emits noxious smells. Defendants in such lawsuits are the agents directly responsible for causing the alleged harm.
These new ideological public-nuisance suits target products or activities that didn’t violate any law or regulation at the time they were produced and used. The defendants are manufacturers and distributors rather than individuals who committed specific wrongful acts. Such claims often feature freestanding state-law causes of action, available to local governments that otherwise lack legal authority to bring other public enforcement actions. That enables plaintiff lawyers, working with local governments, to make an end-run around state governments, pushing “progressive” policies, even in conservative states.
As long as the threat of litigation lingers over every industry under the sun, plaintiff lawyers will have the ability to intimidate market participants and reshape the economy without ever scoring a conclusive win in a courtroom (never mind a legislature). Even corporate giants that can afford to fight sometimes find it more economical to settle a meritless claim. Litigation options and their attendant costs are even worse for small and midsize businesses, like local car dealers, gasoline stations and beverage distributors.
There have been some major litigation setbacks to this public-nuisance campaign. In 2021 the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed a New York City suit against international oil companies that sought to recover, as the court put it, “damages caused by those companies’ admittedly legal commercial conduct in producing and selling fossil fuels around the world.” The same year, the Oklahoma Supreme Court tossed an opioid case against Johnson & Johnson.
But because such lawsuits are usually driven by state law, there is no opportunity for a conclusive nationwide win at the U.S. Supreme Court covering all these lawsuits; the battles have to be waged on a state-by-state basis. Federal constitutional issues arise in cases against some industries—the First Amendment for social media, the Second Amendments for gun makers. There are also some instances in which federal common law or regulatory statutes like the Clean Air Act pre-empt the application of state public-nuisance laws. That was the basis on which the Second Circuit threw out the New York case and is one of the key arguments before the Hawaii Supreme Court.
Fortunately, there are other available remedies. State legislatures could bar cities and counties from hiring plaintiff lawyers to prosecute public nuisance suits on a contingency basis, which would constitute an excellent remedial measure. They could also forbid local governments from bringing public-nuisance cases at all, or at least against manufacturers and distributors of products circulating in interstate commerce, or require approval from state officials such as the attorney general.
Conservative states would likely lead the way in enacting such reforms. These public-nuisance lawsuits harm the economy and are antithetical to American democracy, which requires decisions about economic regulation to be made by politically accountable officials, not by courts. And having governmental entities delegate litigation control to plaintiff lawyers amounts to a government-deputized shakedown of disfavored industries.
Mr. Rivkin practices appellate and constitutional law in Washington. He served at the Justice Department and the White House Counsel’s Office in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations. Mr. Skinner is executive director of Alliance For Consumers. He has served as solicitor general and handled consumer cases in the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

What Are Termites?
Termite Control in Jaipur is a common pest problem affecting households and businesses alike. While they do not pose any direct health risks, they can cause considerable damage to your property if left unchecked. Here's what you need to know about these little critters and how you can prevent them from causing havoc on your belongings: For a certain group of beetles known as termites to survive, they require two things: food and shelter. If there is no proper shelter available, they will create their own by burrowing into the wood and other organic materials. Termites usually stay inside their shelters during the day so that it’s easier for them to avoid detection. They come out at night when it’s cooler to look for food sources such as dead trees or plants. Once a colony has established itself in your home or business premises, it will begin reproducing quickly through a process called swarming. This involves sending out small groups of termites to find new places to live. It’s important to take action immediately upon detecting signs of an infestation because even though individual termites may be harmless, a large number of them together can cause significant structural damage over time.
Why Do We Need Termite Prevention Services?
Termites and other wood-destroying insects cause over $5 billion in property damage annually, according to Pella Window and Door Company, which can make it essential for homeowners who live in areas where these pests thrive to purchase protection services. Because Jaipur is located near Lake Bikaner, it’s especially vulnerable; many species of termites thrive here and often attack homes within five years of their construction. While you may be able to spot obvious signs of an infestation, such as small holes or cracks in your walls or floors, it’s important to work with professionals so they can identify any hidden problems and address them before they spread. For example, one homeowner had his house inspected after noticing termite droppings around his windowsills; he later learned that the bugs were eating through his walls from inside his basement. If left untreated, these types of infestations can quickly spread throughout your home and even into neighboring structures. This type of damage not only hurts your wallet but also threatens your health; because termites eat cellulose-based materials like paper and wood, their waste products contain toxic chemicals called terpenes that can irritate sensitive skin or trigger allergic reactions in people with asthma. In addition, if you notice termites in your home, there’s a good chance they have already invaded surrounding buildings; one study conducted by Purdue University found that nearly 70 percent of homes less than 10 years old had at least one active colony living nearby. If you want to protect yourself against infestations and save money on repairs down the line, it’s best to contact professional pest control services today.

What Are Some Tips for Controlling Termites?
If you’re new to Jaipur, there’s a very good chance you have never seen or heard of a termite infestation before. Termites are inconspicuous pests that reside quietly behind walls and fixtures until they create quite a mess—so it’s important not to underestimate them! Below, we will outline different ways you can help protect yourself from termite invasions in your home:-
It’s no secret that termites are attracted to wood. You may want to consider replacing wooden doors with metal ones, installing metal window frames, or sealing off any holes in exterior walls with metal plates and screws if possible.
Keep in mind that wooden windowsills and furniture may be easy targets for invading insects as well; make sure you take proper precautions when installing these items inside your home.
If you’re concerned about termites, it might also be a good idea to replace wooden floors with tile or concrete—but keep in mind that certain types of tile can also attract pests!
A great way to avoid attracting unwanted guests is by keeping your kitchen clean.
If there are any spills on countertops, wipe them up immediately.
Also, remember not to leave food out overnight—and if possible, use airtight containers for storing leftovers.
It’s also a good idea to replace wooden cabinets with metal ones; it’s much easier for termites to chew through wood than metal.
Getting Rid of Existing Pests and Protecting From Future Ones
Termite control in Jaipur involves first getting rid of existing pests and preventing further infestation by conducting periodic checks throughout your home or business. While they may not be as visible as termites, other household pests can leave lasting damage—and produce an unpleasant odor if left untreated. Do yourself and your residence or business a favor by following these steps for prevention and extermination:-
Be aware of areas around your home where moisture accumulates: Excessive moisture is known to attract unwanted insects like termites. If possible, try keeping moisture out of areas such as basements and garages by ensuring there aren’t any cracks or holes through which water can seep into them. It’s also important to regularly check for leaks near sinks, toilets, and other fixtures—you might be surprised at what you find!
Examine anything you bring inside from outside: This may seem like common sense, but it’s easy to forget about when you’re excited about bringing something new into your home. If you do notice damage, don’t try to repair it yourself; instead, contact us immediately so we can arrange for a professional inspection and removal of any unwanted pests.
If you see cracks or holes in your walls, ceiling, or floors, call us: It’s important to note that while wood-destroying insects such as termites tend to make their presence known through visible damage, many household pests hide within wall cracks and holes until they find an opportunity to come out.
