#it's still funny to me that when i got into keeping reptiles i thought of leopard geckos as aggressively boring#but than i stayed with someone who had one as a pet and she won me over so hard with her personality#now i'm obsessed with them and working on becoming a breeder#idk when you start out you sometimes want the coolest and rarest creatures but over time i started caring more about how comfortable they#are around humans and if they can successfully be captive bred#also i'm autistic about genetics/animal breeding and leos are great for that#especially because absurd fancy names for gene combos aren't common so getting into it is easier than with ball pythons where morphs are#called hyper vanilla extract road rage

The protein encoded by this gene is involved in melanosome transport and serves as link between melanosome-bound RAB27A and the motor protein MYO5A. Mutations here cause "standard" dilution.

I couldn't find trustworthy illustrations for these colors, however i tried to choose pictures according to the descriptions in paper identifying the mutation: "the homozygotes for the mutant type are almost completely white, and the heterozygotes have a weakened color and white spots in various parts of the skin".

Before and after
Awhile ago I bought a triple obsidian wildclaw so I could have one "wildly popular combo" in my lair. I like wildclaws. I love black and white
I was clicking around for new genes, and harl/jester is such a a huge deviation from the solid black that I kinda really love it. The terts that cover more body add a nice splash of that obsidian back to the form. I haven't made the plunge yet but I might
