HOW COULD I FORGET RAVEN?!#I added her#i have a sticker with raven on my LITTERAL FUCKING LAPTOP#and I just forgor? groans#I always loved purple and my music taste went into that direction over time but I definitely think these girls had an impact#to be fair evanescence did also alter my brain chemistry at a key point in development#raven teen titans#thinks these are some of the coolest characters as a kid. listens to evanescence during my early teens. went full goth#a few years out of highschool ‘no dress code to bind me except the law’s rules on public indecency’#slowly transforms into my new adult self ‘mother. I am goth’#also. I misremembered Sam’s skirt as having purple print for so long#I was like ‘purple and black skirt is so cool’#I actually bought a few vaguely like it#and then you tell me it is GREEN???

I just remembered I haven’t been posting all my crafts on here too, so I’ll post at least one, not sure if i have pics of more rn
#my art#emma posts#these are nothing flashy#I just have several swivel galaxy pendants I’ve made and thought it would be nice to have one on my lanyard#they are fun to stim with and I had a more defective one#I tried going out with the galaxy pendant yesterday but the glass came off of one side so I’m experimenting with a different adhersive#that’s something I’ve run into a few times and is one reason I’m reluctant to sell them even at a discount#until I know I have something that works#for now I’m just making things mostly for myself so I can see how they hold up best#the polymer clay cat isn’t very exciting either#I just got some cat clay cutters and have been going crazy with them#this is the first keychain though and it’s been holding up well#I’ve said i would never get more skinny chain like this after I run out but now I’m tempted again#ugh#the cats with the textures have been great though#especially the non-key chains compared to round ones#because it’s so much harder not to drop something totally round and smooth

Made a set of mini runes with polymer clay. I might paint them later. I didn’t have molds or stamps so I ended up cutting out the shape with a little clay cutter (like a cookie cutter but smaller) and then writing all the runes by hand. I rounded them out a bit too because I liked how it looked when I altered the shape a little.
I’ve only been using polymer clay for two weeks so this could have probably gone faster if I was more experienced. I think I left my glass set at my parents house when I moved and i still need to find it. But I saw it as an opportunity to practice working with clay! Well, polymer clay. I miss real clay 🥲
#it’s personal#emma posts#I’ve also made a few of those little moon shaped pendants seen in Viking archeology#nothing too elaborate though. just smooth ones made with clay#I didn’t use any cookie cutters for them#just drew an outline on a piece of sketchbook paper. cut that out. and then cut the clay using that as a template#after that i just had to shape it on a 3d level#it’s not like I did any fancy knot work or those little orbs#sometimes I think i would be fun to try recreating those things with clay but… when I look at them up close in the Viking art history book#I get overwhelmed#I also have mixed feelings about how the little orbs look aesthetically design wise#I get that it is impressive. I’m just not sure it’s me#they would smelt a bunch of tiny balls and place them onto metal pieces along with wire to create designs#they look kinda boring to modern people but once you learn more about it it’s impressive#might add the moon pendants I made in a re-blog later

In 2017 I went to New Zealand for an internship that ended up being illegitimate and caused something of a political scandal.
I apologize to the people of New Zealand for my involvement in this. In my defense, I could tell that the whole thing was kind of shady but my college agreed to cover my travel fees so it was kind of worth the risk. Also now I have a truly ridiculous travel story so tbh… no regrets.
I absolutely will be answering any and all questions at this time.

Do you get more “rarer” potions or whatever the higher you get in alchemy levels? Because I stg it wasn’t this hard to get green or yellow when i was ten levels lower >:\
“You transmuted blue sludge” I don’t fucking need more blue sludge! I’m out of yellow!!! I keep transmuting one and two star items and the last one I did (2 stars) gave me red sludge!!! I like having purple, red, and blue, sure, but I need yellow!!!
#emma posts#flight rising#I might be imagining it#because I don’t have this problem with muck and slime#but I’m so frustrated#I spent the last two weeks transmuting one star ‘other’ items#and now have eight green sludge and THIRTY TWO ORANGE#I have only started needing more yellow a day or two ago so I haven’t been doing this for a super long time#but I JUST had this problem with green sludge#and the green goo problem is similar but that’s impacted by how much food my lair consumes#I currently have 180 dragons in my lair and a majority of them either eat only or seem to prefer insects#it makes me a lot of treasure and I love pretty dragons. but they sure do eat a LOT of bugs#it usually hits a few weeks after the monthly festival because I haven’t been fighting as much and thus haven’t been getting as much food#from that combat. I just love puzzles and will spend a lot of my fr time doing them#my current best time on a puzzle is eight minutes! and that was on normal difficulty! I’m so proud#but I’m rambling again

#emma posts#there is more to dyscalcula and having trouble remembering how to spell long words#but these sure aren’t helping#me. learning Norwegian. reading the sentences and or putting words together to make one ‘I’m so fucking good at l this’d’#okay. now spell the word for ‘difficult’#me crying on the floor because I know it. I can read and hear it. but the letters blend together in my mind#it’s bad enough trying to do this with English. which is my FIRST LANGUAGE#but then it’s like ‘spell complicated words you are learning in another language’ and i feel like smashing my head on the carpet#I can’t speak it for the life of me though. which is actually getting frustrating#without an actual person to explain how to pronounce the words I’m failing so badly#but the primary reason I’ve been learning since April is to read it anyway#and listening is good too. harder though#I’m going to be so fucked up when I start taking Swedish lessons#the word means the same thing and also sounds almost the same (to an English speaker)#BUT THEY SPELL IT VERY DIFFERENTLY!#and with whole new letters#I’m going to write the Norwegian spelling and fail#I will admit that my plan to learn Norwegian first has been working otherwise though#them using fewer unfamiliar characters and being slightly more similar to English really is making it easier to learn#than Swedish first would be. maybe I’m just biased because I’m doing decently at Norwegian#but now when I learn a Swedish word it feels easier because i have two Germanic languages to compare the words to#and one of those languages is even another Nordic language! I dread finding Icelandic lessons though. but it will probably be several years#before I even attempt that! I am doing this because I want to be able to read old family records and objects but learning about#the linguistics of the language family both are in has been super fun and made it actually easier to learn Norwegian!#Spanish is the other language I want to learn but I’ve been putting it off#because it’s more for day to day utility and I can’t fixate on it the same way. I’m terrible at concentrating on it#plus. I’ve already had four Spanish classes so I figure I’ll at least have something to start from! I think I even kept my highschool notes#it’s been really frustrating figuring out which ‘the’ to use. having everything be masculine or feminine has probably been my biggest issue#when making sentences in it. also having had teachers from totally different dialects has been hard in the past#Mexican Spanish can be very diffident from the South American one my highschool teacher taught

I don’t know how to draw my own hair. I spent years with it short while using shampoos and conditioners with wax in them that just flattened my hair out but now that I’m using better hair products and grew it out really long and it’s kind of doing it’s thing I don’t know what to do. It’s been so long since my hair just went feral and now I’m letting it and i don’t know how to draw it

Me on Saturday: looking up info for timing in the closest city “I know I won’t be able to see the total eclipse from my part of the country, but I could at least see a partial one!”
Me on Sunday: it’s raining outside and it looks like the kind of rain that lasts more than 24 hours “oh no.”
Me on Monday: I look outside around noon, it’s cloudy out and when I opened my weather app it said it would start raining soon *sigh* “the clouds have once again prevented me from witnessing a cool sky event” we really need this rain though. It would have been nice if it came a few days sooner! There would be less fire and the sky could be clearer for the eclipse
So today I’m hearing people online talking about how cool the eclipse was and just being like: “I’m gonna be honest. I accidentally slept through the last partial (solar) eclipse and I couldn’t even see this partial solar eclipse if I was trying”
I know I’ve seen lunar eclipses though, my insomnia was at least useful there
#emma posts#I ask for rain because it’s been really dry and there’s been a high fire risk lately#what/whoever would listen or just happen to coincide with what I asked:#on it. but wouldn’t it be super funny if I chose that week specifically to do it?#me: sigh ‘I can’t even be totally mad. I’m not missing a full eclipse and we need the rain’#lately there have also been more solar storms and it’s supposed to continue for a few years#so the chances of witnessing the aurora are even higher these last few years even though I live a bit below where they are sometimes visible#I only ever saw them once before these recent storms and it was faint on the northern horizon#but last summer while I was visiting my parents there was a really strong storm and I got to see them across the whole sky!#they weren’t as colorful as the ones farther north. but I have apps that alert me of possible viewings for a reason#I’m obsessed with them. and this was the clearest and closest they’ve ever been to me and where my parents live#I live in town now though so when I’m not visiting my parents I don’t often see them#in winter or fall when the trees have lost their leaves and the crops have all been harvested you can see so much of the sky and it’s#just stunning with or without the lights. but oh my god was seeing some so close wonderful#I thought I was going crazy though because I could sometimes hear a weird staticky humm when they would get particularly close#but apparently some people just hear them 🤷♀️ it… I loved it#and I think I’m gonna cry because before that the last time I had seen them a little clearer on the horizon it was parked in one of my#families fields with a friend of mine who was driving me back from dnd and we just sat in the car looking at the horizon together (it wasn’t#so close that you could see it above. but the northern horizon you could) and that friend has since passed#ah. I’m rambling though. this was supposed to be a joke post about my experience 😅

I finally gave in and subscribed to National Geographic (digital only) because I love that magazine but it sucks that you can only read a few free articles a month. I’m not sure if I’ll post links to interesting articles about the past from their site, just because I feel bad about posting things that not everyone can read. I’ll have to decide at some point. I’ll keep posting links to free articles too and look for more layman publications (because I’m a layman ;3) I’d consider trustworthy that can be read for free, but right now I only have Smithsonian >:/ I have mixed results from my pbs stuff because a lot of the time what is in their email newsletters are links to other sites, their YouTube channels (like eons) are free and cool though
