The Best Friends Deserve Bester
Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta have been teaming together as The Best Friends since August 2013. In January 2014, they won PWG's Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament, becoming number one contenders to the PWG World Tag Team Championship. They lost their subsequent challenge against The Young Bucks at Mystery Vortex II. The only other time Chuck and Trent have competed for those titles was at 2019's Hand of Doom where they lost to The Rascalz. What that means is that out of seven teams who won the PWG DDT4 between 2007 and 2015, The Best Friends are the only ones to have never held the PWG World Tag Team Championship.
Tumblr media
Alright, well maybe they had better luck in NJPW. Trent's a four-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with Rocky Romero. If Roppongi Vice can succeed, then I'm sure The Best Friends can... come fourth in the B Block in the 2017 World Tag League and finish eighth overall in the 2018 League.
Tumblr media
No, that make sense. Best Friends as a team have always been predominantly American based. What about their ROH run in 2017? I know they had a few title matches there.
Loss vs. The Young Bucks in ROH World Tag Team Championship tornado three way match at Best in the World 2017 (also featured War Machine)
Loss vs. Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks in ROH Six Man Tag Team Championship match at Global Wars 2017 Day 3 (teamed with Flip Gordon)
Loss vs. Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks in ROH Six Man Tag Team Championship match on ROH Wrestling Episode #326 (teamed with Rocky Romero)
Loss vs. Motor City Machine Guns in ROH World Tag Team Championship match at Final Battle 2017
Tumblr media
Ok, enough messing around. Let's get into the AEW run. Orange Cassidy has done a great job as International Champion. Kris Statlander is enjoying a good reign as TBS Champion. How have Chuck and Trent done?
Win vs. SCU and Private Party at Fyter Fest 2019 to advance to All Out for an opportunity at a first round bye in the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament (good start)
Loss vs. Dark Order at All Out 2019 (who needs a first round bye anyway?)
Loss vs. SCU in first round of AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament (ah, that bye would have been handy)
Loss vs. Kenny Omega & Adam Page in a Number One Contender's Fatal Four Way (also featured The Young Bucks and Proud & Powerful) (got four-and-a-half stars from Dave Meltzer)
Loss to The Young Bucks in a Number One Contender's Battle Royal (not gonna list all the other teams)
Win vs. Private Party in a Number One Contender's match at Double Or Nothing 2020 (that's more like it)
Win vs. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara to remain number one contenders (yes, go on lads!)
Loss vs. Kenny Omega & Adam Page in AEW World Tag Team Championship match on Dynamite: Fyter Fest 2020 Day 1 (ah, damn it)
Loss to FTR in Number One Contender's Gauntlet match (again, not gonna list all the other teams)
Win vs. Proud & Powerful in a Parking Lot Fight (FIVE STARS BAYBEE!)
Loss to reDRagon in a Number One Contender's Battle Royal (AEW love them some battle royals)
Loss to The Young Bucks in a Number One Contender's Casino Tag Team Royale (this was literally the week after the previous battle royal)
Win w/Orange Cassidy vs. The Trustbusters in first round of AEW Trios Championship tournament (ooo, promising)
Loss w/Orange Cassidy vs. Adam Page & Dark Order in semi-final of AEW Trios Championship tournament (never mind, I guess)
Loss w/Orange Cassidy vs. Death Triangle for vacant AEW Trios Championship (can't tell me they shouldn't have won this one given PAC was already All-Atlantic Champion at the time)
Loss w/Orange Cassidy vs. Death Triangle in AEW Trios Championship match (one day lads, one day)
Loss w/Orange Cassidy to AR Fox & Top Flight in $300,000 Three Kings Christmas Casino Trios Battle Royal (we're really taking the piss now with these battle royals)
Loss to Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett in Revolution Tag Team Battle Royal (they were literally the runners up in this one, come on)
Loss w/Orange Cassidy vs. House of Black in AEW Trios Championship match (stop teasing me)
Loss vs. Aussie Open in IWGP Tag Team Championship match (they could have had a Japan run after all)
Loss w/Bandido vs. House of Black in AEW Trios Championship match (Bandido's cool but surely it's gotta be Orange for the eventual trios run)
Loss vs. Aussie Open in ROH World Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way at ROH Death Before Dishonor 2023 (also featured Lucha Bros and The Kingdom) (another big win coming any day now)
Loss vs. Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli in Parking Lot Brawl (four-and-a-half stars for the Parking Lot sequel)
Win w/Orange Cassidy, Eddie Kingston & Penta vs. Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Proud & Powerful in Stadium Stampede at All In 2023 (the biggest of big wins, another four-and-a-half stars)
Loss to Dark Order in ROH Number One Contender's Battle Royal (great way to follow up that momentum after All In)
Loss to The Righteous in ROH Number One Contender's Fatal Four Way (also featured The Hardys and The Kingdom) (again, great follow up)
Tumblr media
Obviously there's been more matches in between the ones I highlighted. The Best Friends have had some good moments here and there but overall, it feels like there's been missed opportunities. No follow up after the initial Parking Lot Brawl. No Trios Championship run. Lost in the shuffle again following All In.
Tumblr media
The Best Friends deserve bester.

Pictured above: On the left, the first poster that was used to promote ROH Final Battle back in late october. On the right, the current version of that poster about a month later. We're just under 20 days until the event and I can't help but wonder how many more faces are going to change on this graphic between now and then.
I must say that I have been more or less enjoying Ring of Honor since it was purchased by Tony Khan and folded into the AEW tent. It's pretty light on promos or storylines, which is not terrible, and results in a far higher quantity of just pretty dang good wrestling, not to mention, probably the best women's division that is being utilized by Mr. Khan & co.
The fact that ROH is actually pretty good is why I've been getting really pissed off with how they seem to treat it as the embarrassing step sibling to AEW. Over the past year, more and more frequently AEW has made incredibly liberal use of ROH belts for their own promotion, to the point of making them seem fairly worthless.
I loved the MJF/Adam Cole bromance as much as the next guy, and them winning the tag belts (at an AEW ppv) was a fine decision, and could have been a way to kind of elevate the status of the titles... if Adam Cole hadn't busted his ankle. Now they've been treating the ROH tag team championship like it's their property and have just refused to let them lose it because what, it would be unfair if Adam couldn't defend his title? So what's the answer? They just get to have their reign artificially extended indefinitely, meanwhile every tag team in ROH can just kind of fuck themselves?
Then it seemed almost as a follow-up to Better than you Bay Bay winning those titles, the Hung Bucks got to dethrone the Embassy for the trios belts (on an episode of AEW), which they held on to for just long enough to be included in the promotional art for Final Battle before just dropping the belts directly back to the Embassy again. What an utter waste of a reign.
Then, after MONTHS of building up Dalton Castle as the heir in waiting to the ROH TV Championship, with the promise of a Castle vs Samoa Joe rematch, they instead just have Joe, the KING OF TELEVISION unceremoniously forfeit his title (on an episode of AEW) and now our promised clash of Dalton and Joe just isn't going to happen, and allegedly there's supposed to be a tournament or something to see who gets to claim the vacated title, but it's been like 3 weeks and zero mention of who gets the shot at that belt or when.
Then, Eddie Kingston(who defeated Claudio to become ROH world Champion on an episode of AEW) just gets to go ahead and put the ROH World Championship up as a prize for the fucking Continental Classic tournament, which is exclusively happening during AEW tv shows, featuring amost exclusively AEW roster. Which ends at the next AEW ppv, World's End on December 30th.
And the latest utter bullshit example of the ROH titles being thrown around like a prize from a gumball machine, with less than a week's worth of build up to the match, Wheeler Yuta, the charisma vacuum, defeats Katsuyori Shibata for the ROH Pure championship (on an episode of AEW) And before anyone um actually's me, I know that Shibata had to go back to Japan for personal reasons, but the handling of this title change was lazy and serves as another example of how little of a shit they seem to give about ROH as a promotion.
Every single ROH title win since like, May has happened on a televised AEW program. Neither Better Than You Bay Bay or The Hung Bucks ever once defended their Ring of Honor titles on Ring of Honor. No member of Ring Of Honor's roster has ever gotten to win an AEW belt and represent it on ROH. It's a completely one-way street where all the biggest stars in AEW, main eventers like MJF, The Young Bucks, Eddie Kingston, get to win ROH titles as a way to make them seem important, but nobody from ROH ever gets to be put over by defeating them.
Of the SIX championships ROH has, Three are currently unavailable to any ROH competitors. The World Championship is now a door prize for an AEW tournament, which means Eddie presumably will not be defending it at Final Battle. And even if he does, he's guaranteed to retain so that it can then be given to the winner of the Continental Classic. Or, some shmuck wins it from him only to have to forfeit it to the winner of said tournament. The ROH TV Championship is in limbo. no one possesses it and can't until they announce some kind of gimmick match to see who gets it. And the ROH Tag Team championship is a big shrug emoji. MJF tore his shoulder at Full Gear, so in all likelihood, he's losing his AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe at World's end. But are they going to bother having him and a mystery partner defend the ROH belts at Final Battle? Given that entirely zero top guys from AEW ever dirty themselves by appearing on ROH, I would be shocked if MJF set foot in an ROH ring. More than likely, he's going to have to do a solo defence again on an episode of Dynamite and lose, or maybe he and Adam Cole will just forfeit the titles and we'll have another stupid tournament or royal rumble to fill more empty belts.
Of the remaining three belts, only the Women's World Championship title is ever regularly defended on ROH. The Embassy are currently on leave because Gates of Agony are in some NJPW tag team event. And Wheeler Yuta only appears on ROH to do Pure Rules squash matches and even then only if he's being used for a replacement pure champ.
Quite frankly Athena is carrying the entire promotion on her god damn shoulders and frankly she does not get nearly the respect she deserves for doing so. She has single handedly made the ROH Women's championship feel like a more important title than either the AEW Women's Championship or the TBS Championship.
They've updated this poster for the event every time one of these titles has changed hands since they first announced it and I really can't help but wonder if it was all just to try and drum up hype and try and trick some people into early ticket sales because frankly I'd ask for my money back at this point between what this event was originally advertised as vs what it's looking like now, vs how it's going to look in 2 weeks.
In short, Tony Khan, please stop treating Ring of Honor like the red headed step child to AEW. It just makes the entire promotion and all the talented wrestlers who work there seem like fucking chumps who just weren't good enough to move up to the big leagues. You're squandering so many good names by stealing belts from ROH to use as fucking accessories to guys who are already in incredibly safe positions.
Like, incredibly unfair to like, Top Flight, The Workhorsemen, Iron Savages, even the fucking Outrunners that none of them have been able to get a shot at those titles because TK or MJF or whoever are unwilling to make their big names lose to the fucking nobodies in ROH?
Incredibly unfair to set up Dalton Castle as the next in line for the TV Belt but then have him go and job to fucking Nick Wayne on AEW.
Why the fuck would anyone want to spend 15 dollars a month subscribing to Honor Club to watch a show that is treated like shit by it's own promotion? Like, ROH used to mean something? Some of the biggest names in the industry got their start there, but it's hardly a place for new, young talent to be able to make a name for themselves when it's just being treated like the kids table for AEW.

in the mood to drew my Ocs so i wanna share them :))) here is lord salt, lord Mercury and lord Sulfur. i honestly just picked these title from the alchemy formation thingy on pinterest. i think i'll rename them again later on :ppp
the context is when they were in the middle of the game/ tournament, they were mentored/ taken care of by the creature living there. so when they won/ ascend to god hood, they took part of the creature into their anatomy as a way to honor them and to carry on the idea that they represent.
Lord Salt is first. his god name's Parous (pa-roh-us). the creature that took care of him was a were tiger so his hair got shaped to look like cat ear :333 (i took inspo from dehya from genshin impact). Does he have actual ears? sometime he do, sometime he doesn't :p. his vibe is supposed to be serious/ non approachable but also unkept because he refused to let himself rest.
lord Mercury is like a quarter dog. his god name's Aortus (ah-or-tus) it's not necessarily that the creature that took care of him were canines? he was never in one place for too long. he had dogs and he loved them for their loyalty and their trustworthiness. other than his dog ears, he has a tail and hind legs. He is trying hard to prove himself to the other gods that, despite being the youngest, he's worthy of his place and doesn't need to be cuddle?/helicopter parented over.
Lord Sulfur is a combination of dragon+ turtle and human. his god name's Iborta (ee-boar-tah). he was taken care of by a trio of serpents and a village of turtles. the turtles gave him a home to came back to while the serpent looked over him when he traveled into their terratory.he let his hair grow because He prefers to look more fem then masc and also it represents how long he had lived.
another thing is due to emotional constipation? mentally they didn't grow up much since when they entered the game so supposedly, iborta should look the youngest then Parous the Aortus.
Age wise, iborta is the olderest then parous then aortus. I'll go into their interpersonal relationships when i drew their full body design.

Supercard of Honor preview
Tumblr media
Eddie Kingston vs. Mark Briscoe - Eddie is defending the ROH men's world title; his STRONG men's title is not at stake. This is a battle between friends, and regardless of the outcome here, they are scheduled to join forces on April 21, in a trios match alongside Adam Copeland.
Mark is an ROH original, going back literally to day one, but most of his career was defined by teaming with his brother Jay. Even when Jay won his first ROH men's world title 11 years ago today, and carved out a role as a top singles guy, Mark was still mainly known for their tag matches. Jay's untimely death in January 2023 changed all that. Although the outpouring of sympathy helped make Mark a bigger star than ever, he's likened 2023 to his "rookie year" as a singles wrestler, so you can argue that he's in over his head here. He failed to win the men's television title a year ago, and plans for him to chase the world title last summer fell through due to a knee injury. It's hard to tell if this is finally his time to win the big one, or if it's just another step on a long road.
For Eddie, the story of this match is mainly about giving an opportunity to a respected peer, and promising to set friendship aside to fight as hard as he can. Deeper down, though, Kingston is still reeling from losing the AEW continental title on March 20, to Kazuchika Okada. Being a triple champion meant a lot to Eddie and his fans; losing a second piece of his crown so quickly could be a huge setback. Everybody wants to see Mark Briscoe "finish the story," to use a popular phrase, but Eddie can't let it happen, so something's got to give.
I've seen ROH pay-per-views where the Briscoes headlined, or where Jay closed the show. However, I can't remember Mark ever being in this spot on his own, so that's an intriguing x-factor. I'm sure he'll do great, but will it be great like those wild tag team brawls, or something completely different?
I could see this one going either way, but I've got a feeling it's time for Kingston to part ways with the ROH scene. I'm sure he's loyal to the brand, but he's also never there because he's always figured into big AEW storylines, and I expect him to keep moving up the ladder there. Mark, on the other hand, is just a guy in AEW but still a big deal in ROH, so he's perfect to be the franchise player for a while.
Athena vs. Hikaru Shida - Athena is defending the ROH women's world title, which she's held for 482 days. If she retains here, I'd say she's very likely to make it to the 500-day mark. By the end of 2023 she had cleaned out the Ring of Honor women's division, so I figured they'd send her up to AEW. Instead, they've been sending AEW regulars to ROH--first Nyla Rose, and now Shida. Athena has never beaten Shida, who won their only singles encounter back in 2014.
For months I've been expecting Athena to finally meet her match, put someone over, and go kick ass in AEW. It could happen this time with Shida, but it could have happened in December with Billie Starkz, or in July with Willow Nightingale, and it just didn't. Shida brings more of a "final boss" energy than Athena's previous challengers, but she doesn't have to be the final boss--they could always do, say, Athena vs. Thunder Rosa, or Athena vs. Kris Statlander. It just comes down to how many of these matchups Tony Khan wants to do in ROH, where most people aren't paying attention, or on the nationally televised product everyone actually watches.
I'm in favor of Athena dropping the belt and getting the epic run she deserves in AEW. I'm in favor of Shida getting a title run in ROH if she's not going to hold AEW gold anytime soon. But I'm wary of betting against Athena at this point. This is a match that'll keep me guessing right up to the finish, and that's the way I like it.
Billie Starkz vs. Queen Aminata - This the final of a 16-woman tournament to determine the first ROH women's television champion. Starkz defeated Robyn Renegade, Diamante, and Mercedes Martinez to get here. Aminata beat J-Rod, Taya Valkyrie, and Red Velvet on her way to the final.
I was in favor of Starkz winning the world title from Athena back in December, but it didn't happen, and they announced this new TV title on like the very next show. So there's a sense that they created this thing specifically as a silver medal for Starkz. She's been my pick to win the tournament from the beginning. However, I didn't expect Aminata to get a bit of a push, what with the sit-down interview about her life and officially signing with AEW in February. So yeah, maybe they're setting the stage for giving her the belt.
I think both of these women are in line for big things. But only one of them can win tonight. I guess I'll stick with my original pick and go with Starkz. But I like that they have me thinking Aminata could really win.
Kyle Fletcher vs. Lee Johnson - Fletcher is defending the ROH men's television title. I like both guys, but it's telling that the most interesting thing about this matchup is that Johnson is married to Julia Hart, whose tag team partner Skye Blue is dating Fletcher. Hopefully these two put on a match that gives people a reason to talk about them in their own right.
I'm not a fan of Fletcher being the #2 men's champ on ROH and the #4 guy in the Don Callis Family on AEW. If he's not going to drop out of the Callis faction anytime soon, I'd like to see him drop the belt. But I get the feeling Fletcher will retain.
Matt Taven & Mike Bennett vs. Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo - Taven and Bennett are defending the ROH tag team title. The two teams went to a ten-minute draw on April 4, which was enough for Dean and Bravo to get a rematch for the belts.
From what I've seen of them on ROH, the Infantry (Dean, Bravo, and Trish Adora) are money. I don't think that's come through from what little they get to do on AEW. I was hoping they'd make more of an impact in the AEW tag title tournament, but oh well. I'd settle for an ROH tag title run, and I don't think Taven and Bennett need the belts that much now that they're in the Undisputed Kingdom stable. I'm kinda thinking the champs will retain, but I'm 100% in the tank for Dean and Bravo.
Dalton Castle vs. Johnny TV - This is billed as a "fight without honor," which just means the match can't end by disqualification or count-out. I think this feud started in November, maybe? I barely keep up with the weekly ROH show anymore, but I'm always seeing an interview where Johnny is all "Ha ha, I'm a heel!" and Dalton is all "I can't sleep and I'm INSANE!" and Johnny and Taya freak out like they're scared and Lexy Nair is like "stop interrupting my interviews >:(" And it just keeps going and going and nothing ever changes.
It seems like it should be important that Dalton put custody of The Boys on the line just for a chance to wrestle Johnny, and then Johnny won, but then Johnny and Taya lost The Boys so Dalton is despondent. Except AEW legit released The Boys earlier this week--they couldn't even wait until after this match to make it seem like The Boys might play into the climax of the story. So that makes the whole thing seem even more pointless.
Adding to the trainwreck factor, I saw Johnny wrestle on yesterday's Bloodsport show and his right elbow was heavily bandaged up. I don't know what's wrong with his arm but I'm sure it's gotta be miserable gutting it through a busy weekend like this. Hopefully he can work around it here without too much trouble.
At this point I don't even care who wins as long as the feud ends. I guess Dalton has to win to end the feud. But I'll take whatever I can get.
Maika & Mina Shirakawa & Mei Seira vs. Tam Nakano & AZM & Saya Kamitani - All six of these women represent STARDOM, which has recently been growing closer with AEW/ROH since the promotion fired its founder, Rossy Ogawa. I keep meaning to get up to speed with Stardom and I just never get around to it. I remember seeing Nakano and AZM wrestle for New Japan and that's about it.
Maika, Stardom's world champion, and Shirakawa represent Empress Nexus Venus, which broke away from Nakano's Cosmic Angels group. I don't know if there's a reason Nakano is teaming with two women from Queen's Quest instead of her own faction. It also seems odd that Shirakawa and Maika hold the Stardom trios title along with Xena, but for this trios match they're instead teaming with Seira, who isn't affiliated with a faction. Maybe if I followed Stardom this would make sense, but as it is I think they just grabbed six women who were in town and could put on a good match, without any real storyline or context.
I don't think it makes any difference who wins, but since Maika's the world champ I'll go ahead and pick her side to prevail.
Mariah May vs. Momo Kohgo - This is scheduled for the pre-show. I guess these two had a rivalry in Stardom before May left to join AEW six months ago. I know May was on the Stardom show yesterday but I didn't see it, so I don't know if they did some kind of angle with Kohgo to set this up. I assume Mariah May wins, but I'm not sure they're protecting her for any particular storyline, so I'm not confident about that pick.
Josh Woods & Tony Nese vs. ??? & ??? - More pre-show stuff. Woods and Nese were a tag team for a while and now I suppose they're back together again for some reason. They're facing a mystery team and I sure hope it's a really cool surprise, because otherwise there's really no point in doing this. We're in Philly so maybe they bring in a couple of ECW guys? Are there any ECW guys left to bring in? Well, whoever it is, I'm picking the mystery team to win.
Griff Garrison & Cole Karter vs. Serpentico & Angelico - This is another pre-show match. I think these two teams were pissy with each other over losing an eight-man tag match or something. Last time I looked Griff was a babyface slowly going heel from the influence of Karter and manager Maria Kanellis. I'm genuinely surprised this is considered important enough to run on the PPV, even if it is just the pre-show. I don't care who wins.

Dragon Ball Super 079
Tumblr media
It’s the Zeno Expo!  Fun for the whole family!
Tumblr media
So the idea here is just to have a few matches featuring fighters from Universes 7 and 9.  There’s no prize on the line, this is just to give the Zeno from the other timeline a chance to see what all the fuss is about before the actual Tournament of Power. The first match is Majin Buu vs. Basil, and starting out, Basil seems to dominate Buu. While everyone reacts to this development, U9′s Supreme Kai, Roh, gloats about how his team of three represents the strongest warriors of his universe.  They’re all furries, and brothers, and they’re called the Trio of Danger.
Tumblr media
So yeah, get used to Roh, because we’ll be seeing a lot of him over the next 20 episodes, give or take.  Unlike the other Supreme Kai’s we’ve seen so far, Roh comes across like a shiftless schemer, and he’s much more outspoken than his Destroyer counterpart, Sidra.  I’m pretty sure the Angel, Mohito, never says a damn thing.   So when you think of Universe 9, you’re generally thinking of Roh.  He’s sort of like one of those scrawny heel managers.
Tumblr media
The problem is that Roh does not matter to this story.  At all.  Gods can’t participate in the Tournament of Power, and his reactions to the Grand Zenos’ rulings are irrelevant.  The same holds true for all the other gods introduced in these episodes.  There’s an Angel, Destroyer, and Supreme Kai for all 12 universes, and they’re all here to watch this thing, and that means 36 characters with no real agency.  And we’ve already met seven of them in earlier episodes, but now Toei’s trying to cram in screen time for the other 29 and it just... doesn’t matter.   Roh kind of gets a pass for having more personality than the others, but he also seems completely unfit for his position, and you sort of have to wonder how he got the job in the first place. He’s the sort of Kai you look at and wonder if Zamasu had the right idea all along.
Tumblr media
Anyway, the fight’s pretty good.  Basil really deals a licking to Majin Buu, who just keeps getting back up and loving every moment of it.  This is all fun for him, and it all feels a lot like when Buu first debuted on Earth and wrecked Gohan, Dabura, and Vegeta’s shit.  It says a lot about Basil that he can fight at this level, but Buu’s a hustler.  You think you’re doing okay against him, and then he gets back up and reveals he was never hurt at all.
Tumblr media
Fortunately, Basil has a lot left in the tank, and he has some trick to make his feet glow, which makes his kicks hurt worse or something.
Tumblr media
But he still can’t put Majin Buu away.  Then, Mr. Satan takes a hit from some debris kicked up from their fight, and this enrages Buu.
Tumblr media
Buu clobbers Basil with authority and eventually knocks him out of the ring.  The U7 guys think they just won the match, but that’s not how the Zeno Expo works.  Ring-outs don’t decide anything.  The fighters have to keep going until one of them can’t continue, or until the Zenos express satisfaction with the match.
Tumblr media
So Basil climbs back into the ring for more, and Roh angrily tells him to win.  Basil shouts back that if Roh wants him to win so badly, then he should give “it” to him.  “It” being some sort of object that Roh tosses to Basil, and it gives him super strength when he eats it.
Tumblr media
Little something for all the furries out there.
Beerus cries foul, since this would be flagrant cheating under the rules he’s used to, but again, the Zeno Expo doesn’t work that way.  It’s no-hold-barred, anything goes.
Tumblr media
So they resume fighting, and Basil once again goes toe-to-toe with Buu...
Tumblr media
And they each do big power moves to the other.  Buu gets up from Basil’s attack...
Tumblr media
And Basil survives Buu’s ki blast.  At first everyone thinks this is going to become a long, drawn out battle, but then Basil’s body gives out on him and he collapses.  Buu is the winner.
Tumblr media
Huzzah!
Tumblr media
Buu returns to the others and heals up Mr. Satan.  Good, I was worried that they had gotten away from Majins being able to heal people, but Buu could do this in DBZ, and if he can still do it in Super then they haven’t ditched the idea.  Of course, it hardly matters much, since this is the only fight Buu has been in since Beerus kicked his ass, and he sleeps through every story arc.
Tumblr media
So Buu gets a post-fight snack, and now it’s Gohan’s turn to fight.

i totally agree with you that death triangle should've gotten a better reign but i took a look at the trios tournament bracket and there are only 3 teams remaining from that that they could've fought with... dark order (sans hangman) best friends and trustbusters with everyone else gone bc of different circumstances.... they probably would've had to throw some teams together last minute
Even throwing teams together would have made sense. You can easily do FTR and Wardlow as a trio. They could have also faced the ROH 6 man champs (Dalton and the Boys). The feud with Best Friends could have been extended as well. There were ways to make this work and TK just didn't. It's just baffling how badly it was handled.

AEW Dynamite 11/23/22
Regal is out first. He says we will hear from MJF, but not until next week. Moxley enters to stare down Regal. Danielson runs out, putting himself between Moxley and Regal. Danielson tells Moxley that they've all done bad things, mentions Regal's injuries, and asks Moxley to please not hurt Regal. Danielson slaps Moxley!!!! Danielson asks Moxley to save Regal for Danielson, if for no other reason, because Danielson loves Regal. Moxley tells Regal he only wants one thing from him. He wants him to run. To run far away and never come back.
Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Jake Hager for the AEW All Atlantic Championship -- This was a lot of nonsense with Hager and the hat, but the match was fine. Orange retains with an Orange Punch and a roll up.
Ethan Page vs. Ricky Starks (AEW World Championship number one contender tournament) -- This was good. Nice finishing sequence here. Page lifts Starks up and over his back for a powerslam. Starks kicks out. Page goes for Ego's Edge, but Starks escapes and rolls up Page. Page kicks out. Starks lands two great-looking spears to put Page away! Nice to see Starks get the win here. I could do with a more interesting opponent for MJF, but Starks deserves an opportunity.
Death Triangle (c) vs. The Elite Match 2 of the Best of 7 Series for the AEW World Trios Championship -- Jumping knee by Omega takes out Fénix! The Elite gang up on Fénix to start. Huge sit-out powerbomb by Omega!! Big tornillo to the outside by Fénix onto The Elite! Fénix stops Omega's terminator dive with a cutter out of nowhere!! Matt mocks Punk's failed Buckshot lariat for the benefit of this hostile Chicago crowd lmaooooo. Pac goes for some offense, and Omega bites Pac's arm!!! Beautiful release German suplex by Pac on Omega!! Three tilt-a-whirl back breakers from Penta to each of The Elite!!! Fénix springboards off the top rope and lands a huge rana on Nick!!! Superkick by Matt to Fénix!! Even bigger superkick by Fénix to Matt in return! V-trigger to the back of Pac's head, followed by a snap dragon suplex by Omega!! The Bucks rip the mask off of Pac to expose his broken nose. BTE trigger to Pac's exposed face!! V-trigger to Pac by Omega. Omega goes for the One-Winged Angel, but Pac escapes!! Omega hits a GTS on Pac!! Gold! Pac kicks out!!! The Bucks go for a Meltzer Driver on Pac, but Fénix walks the top rope to kick Nick in the face!! Topé con hilo to the outside by Fénix on Nick and Omega!! Pac goes for a German suplex on Matt, but Matt runs into the ropes and hits a backward low blow on Pac!! Brandon slides a hammer to Matt while the ref is distracted!! Penta comes from behind. He pulls out his own hammer and clocks Matt!! Pac covers Matt! 1, 2, 3!!! DEATH TRIANGLE 2-0!!!!!!!!!! HELL YEAH!!! ANOTHER AWESOME, FAST-PACED SPRINT OF A MATCH FROM THESE TWO TEAMS!
Chris Jericho (c) vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the ROH World Championship -- Jericho and Ishii trade palm strikes, elbows, shoulder tackles, and chops for what feels like 10 minutes to start the match. Ishii keeps coming out on top of these exchanges. Jericho is bleeding from the chest!! Jericho finally backs Ishii into the corner and lands some clotheslines to take Ishii off his feet. Right hands by Jericho to Ishii's head! Big powerbomb by Ishii to counter!!! Two count, and Jericho kicks out! DDT from Jericho to Ishii on the apron!!! Oh my god!! German suplex by Ishii!! Jericho responds with two German suplexes of his own!! Lionsault by Jericho and Ishii kicks out at one!!!! Codebreaker!!! Ishii kicks out again! Jericho goes for Judas Effect, but Ishii blocks and responds with a headbutt!! Sliding lariat by Ishii!! Jericho kicks out! Ishii avoids the Walls and lands a codebreaker of his own!!! Huge lariat by Ishii!! Jericho kicks out! Brainbuster attempt by Ishii, but Jericho blocks. Ishii goes for an enziguri, but Jericho grabs the leg and locks in the Walls!! Ishii rolls to his back, but Jericho lays in elbows to stop the reversal and locks in a deep Lion Tamer with his knee on Ishii's head!!! Ishii finally taps!! What a match!!! This was so good. Ishii rocks, as always, and Jericho hung with him.
The show ends with Claudio coming out to lay Jericho out with a massive punch!!! Beautiful!

Collision 11/11/23
Piss On The Grave of Swerve
Tumblr media
Collision began with Andrade El Idolo vs. Daniel Garcia. CJ Perry came out and joined Andrade. Miro was watching backstage. I don't think Perry and Andrade gel together. In fact, I saw more chemistry with Perry and Garcia when did his dance in front of her and she retorted by mocking his dance. Andrade may lack charisma on the mic, but I think he oozes it in the ring. I do look forward to a Miro and Andrade match. The match here was pretty great. This is the best I've seen Garcia in a while. Andrade won when he transitioned from a figure four into the figure eight causing Garcia to tap.
The action continued between Nick Wayne and Dalton Castle. This was an alright match. There wasn’t anything that stood out about it. Wayne picked up the win and gave Christian a hug as if a child sees their Dad returning from a long day from work.
Adam Page delivered a fantastic promo backstage on Swerve Strickland. My favourite lines was ‘’And every November, I'll walk my son hand-in-hand, we’ll pay you a visit, and I’ll watch him piss on your grave.’’ Page declares they with meet at Full Gear in a Texas Death match.
Rush & Dralistico wrestled The Workhorsemen in a match that told a good story. The brothers of LFI had to work to put down JD Drake, who was not only a powerhouse, but showed some impressive agility.
Next up was Darius Martin vs. Roderick Strong. Let's take a moment to applauded Strong, as he willed his way out of his wheelchair to entertain us. He even picked up the victory. Well done.
Willow Nightingale lost of Julia Hart. The match wasn't the best outing for both women, but both characters are so good that it more than makes up for in this case. It's a shame the Willow hardly picks up any wins. She had a victory last week and prior to this on AEW TV, she won her match on 3/9/23 (I'm not including ROH).
Tony Khan finally announced something with no prior announcement for the announcement. AEW will be holding a Continental Classic. A round robin tournament with the top 12 AEW stars. The first one to compete will be Bryan Danielson on the 22/11/23. This will open up the door for Danielson to get some matches with wrestlers he wants.
Paul Wight joined Tony and Nigel on commentary as Will Hobbs squashed some jobber. Don Callis tried to convince Paul to step away from the Street Fight next week. This doesn’t work. Hobb’s tries to initiate a fight, but he backed down once Paul got fired up to go. It’s good to see Wight in a serious angle. I got so used to him being the butt of jokes in WWE as The Big Show. As I said before, if you use Paul as a monster in the Street Fight, then I think it will be entertaining.
Have you listened to Lance Archer's theme? It's a hardcore jam. Archer comes out and starts to knock out some ring security. Archer is now teaming with The Righteous. They look great together. They faced Sting, Darby Allin and Adam Copeland in a safe match. Darby didn't doing anything that looked like he broke his neck. I don't think I saw Sting take a bump, and Copeland was the hot tag, so he wasn't in the match that much. This was best because you want to keep that Full Gear match safe. Archer takes another loss, unfortunately. If I could play the booker, I would have had The Righteous and Lance in a trios match on Dynamite, and switch them out for The Dark Order.
This episode had some decent matches and continued to build to Full Gear. We now have Ricky Starks and Big Bill vs. LFI vs. FTR vs. Kings of the Black Throne, and Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart vs. Red Velvet or Skye Blue (Blue is winning) added to the card.

Famous Puerto Rican Wrestlers!
So, the last post i made on pro wrestling got a lot of positive feedback, so I’m gonna keep talking about it lol. Two things that mean a lot to me are wrestling, and being Puerto Rican. Nothing makes me immediately like somebody more than when I’m watching somebody on TV and going “oh shit! they’re latine, that’s really cool, wonder where they’re from” and then going to their wikipedia page and finding out that they’re also Boricua, that’s really cool to me. So I thought I’d highlight some famous Puerto Rican wrestlers, cause representation matters. Join me under the cut, will you?
Tumblr media
Damian Priest
Known in Ring of Honor as Punishment Martinez, he currently works for WWE on the Raw brand under the name Damian Priest. He is a one-time ROH TV Champion and he is also the current WWE United States Champion, which I love. I love latine people holding any gold, but there’s something real cool about him being the US champion specifically. Like we’re the face/representation of the country. Anyway, super good wrestler, super charming, wrestled a match tag-teaming with fellow Boricua and singer Bad Bunny in a match better than it had any right being. Also he has a really deep voice, and I really like that.
Tumblr media
Carlito
Also known as Carlito Caribbean Cool, Carlito was a mainstay of WWE’s mid-card throughout the latter half of the 2000′s. Carlito is a one-time WWE United States Champion, a one-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, and a two-time tag-team champion, with his cousin Primo (Primo being Spanish, for cousin :P). Carlito is the son of Carlos Colon Sr., the founder and owner of WWC, the World Wrestling Council, the premier wrestling federation in Puerto Rico, and as such Carlito and a lot of his family is involved in wrestling, in either on-camera or behind the scenes roles. The reason I’m not featuring his father is due to his cover-up in the murder of fellow wrestler Bruiser Brody, but that’s another story, for another time. Carlito was famous for “spitting in the face of people who don’t want to be cool”, literally spitting apple in the face of people that offend him. A good hand, and a memorable character, Carlito still wrestles today for various other promotions, on the independent circuit.
Tumblr media
Zelina Vega
Wrestling as Rosita in Total Nonstop Action, Zelina Vega is perhaps best known for being the manager of Andrade El Idolo in NXT and on the Raw brand of WWE. A great wrestler in her own right, she shines as a talker, a vital part of the art of wrestling. In TNA she was a one-time Knockouts Tag-Team Champion, with Sarita, and she is also an accomplished cosplayer. Like seriously check out her cosplays, they’re really good. She currently wrestles for the Smackdown brand of WWE, usually in really good outfits.
Tumblr media
Pedro Morales
Pedro Morales is famous for being the first ever Latino to hold a world championship in wrestling, holding the WWWF (what the WWE was called before 1979) for a staggering 1,027 days, being not only the 4th person to ever hold that belt, but for having the 5th most combined days as WWE Champion. Back in that day, championship reigns were long, and champions worked many, many, MANY days traveling all around America, and the world entertaining people. A champion in many other territories, Morales is also a WWWF United States Champion, a tag-team champion, and an Intercontinental Champion, also having the most combined days as an IC champion, making him the first-ever WWE Triple Crown Champion (having held the world championship, the tag-team championship, and one or both secondary championships). A well decorated-well season, well-liked wrestler, Pedro Morales is a testament to Puerto Rican success, saying that not only have Boricuas been killing it in this game for some time, we’ve been doing it for at least fifty years, and I think that’s really cool.
Tumblr media
Ivelisse
A champion almost everywhere she works, Ivelisse has held championship gold in Shimmer, the World Wrestling League, All Elite Wrestling, winning the Tag Team Cup with fellow Latina, the Cuban-American Diamante, and perhaps most famously Lucha Underground, being a Trios Championship tournament winner, and a two-time Trios Championship holder, with Angelico, and Son of Havoc. Currently, she works for Shine Wrestling, a sister company to Shimmer, where she is their reigning and defending Shine Champion, with her current reign being more than 600 days, which is nuts. She also holds the distinction of holding that championship for the most combined days, good for her!
Tumblr media
Eddie Kingston
Finally, we have Eddie Kingston. I haven’t been following AEW for too long, so I JUST found out that he’s Puerto Rican, and that makes me so fucking excited lol. Potentially, the greatest talker going today, Eddie Kingston has that rare ability to talk people into the building, to really make people care, to make people really believe what he’s saying, and that when it’s all said and done, Eddie is gonna kick your ass. A very decorated champion, having held the top prize in Combat Zone Wrestling, All-American Wrestling, IWA Mid-South, and being the first-ever Chikara Grand Champion, he currently is wrestling in All Elite Wrestling, where he is known for his partnership with former bitter rival Jon Moxley. His feud with Moxley won Feud of the Year from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and most recently Kingston wrestled Miro for the TNT Championship at AEW All Out on September 5th, in an EXCELLENT match. What else can I say, other than Eddie Kingston is one of the coolest wrestlers currently at it, and I am damn proud to call him one of my own.
So! This is something new that I might keep doing going forward, let me know if you like it! This isn’t even close to every single notable Boricua wrestler, but I didn’t wanna take up your whole dashboard, just most of it lol. As I said before, if you’ve read this far, thank you, I appreciate it, tell me what you think, I’m open to suggestions, and if you have any questions, my inbox is always open. Thank you!
