Here we go
First thing I noticed here is how sad Neo is. It could either be due to the loss of Roman or the fact that Cinder absolutely betrayed her. Either way, Jaune being upset is not a shock.
Ruby doesn't even open her eyes. She's also sad through the whole opening so shit is going DOWN this girl is going to finally break down over everything, let it out, girl.
I wish to know about those two blue things there! Plus whatever hits the tree!
Again, Ruby having Depression(tm). Unlike the others who show progression of happiness, Ruby is having the opposite happen. Our bubbly little leader is having a Time.
Whomst the fuck are you.
I've seen it suggested that our mystery new girl is Alyx from "the girl who fell through the world." Which would make a TON of sense, all things considered. Unsure if we're going to have some kind of flashbacks thing, if she had an impact on the Ever After, or if there's some time fuckery going on.
It's also worth noting that this sequence has Ruby lagging behind more and more with each transition, as the rest begin into a run. Alyx could be leading them, they could be following her steps, maybe it isn't even REALLY Alyx to begin with, but some sort of trickery trying to fuck with the girls. Who knows!
Man they really made this fucking caterpillar even creepier than Disney.
No current theories, but squaring this one away for later. This has relevance, I just know it.
We got that funky staircase painting!
Alyx is going to be important, that much is for sure, and we've got that skybridge that the Bee screenshots have shown us. This bridge is SOMETHING.
This is Ruby's ONLY smile in the opening. While she's falling. Does she find herself? Does she just break?
Homegirl landed in fairytale land and went "I can run this shit" and honestly god bless we love a girlboss.
Fairytale book that also goes up in flames.
Honestly? So proud of Ice Cream possibly becoming a major villain on her own instead of Cinder's lackey or the like three times we got to see her with Roman. Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.
Then they FINALLY give us a clear shot of Maybe Alyx, waking up on the beach. Throwback? Arrives after RWBY? We see Crescent Rose soon after, which is also interesting.

Love how Volume 9 gave us our first non-binary characters in the main show in the form of Little and The Curious Cat and then had them both be violently murdered—squished and grinded under Neo’s heel and violently torn a part by Jabberwalkers, with the latter being labelled as an irredeemable villain. “But Rooster Teeth swears up and down that they aren’t queerphobic!” Sure, Jan.
