Nooo Ionius IX :'(
All jokes aside, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about Lorenz!
What can I say, I'm a true barbarian, I'm completely unable to appreciate the basileus' sex appeal🙃.
I'm going to disappoint you, but I don't have many thoughts on Lorenz. It's like "I don't like him" and that's it. It's visceral.
The worst offender for me is his design. Especially his academy design. When I first saw that wonderful purple haircut, I was like "WTF is that? (But then again, I'm a barbarian so maybe he's too enlightened for me).
Tumblr media
One shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I know. But his design repelled me. It gets better post-time skip, though. But doing better than that isn't that difficult actually and it's still one of the worst offenders imo.
Apart from the fact that I was never that interested in discovering all the nuances of his personality (if there are) what I saw didn't convince me. The classism, the arrogance, the relentless pursuit of women who don't seem interested (like Byleth even has to tell him to leave the female students alone...)...I didn't find anything that held my attention.
The final nail to his coffin is that I never felt the need to use him in game.
On a positive note, I appreciate the fact that he's the only one to speak some sense to Klaude in Nopes (from what I've seen). I especially liked when he reminded everyone of WHY people are hostile to the Almyrans (the depiction of the Almyrans in Nopes is...something) when Klaude was crying: "Nuh I don't understand why Fodlan is racist and isolationist. They hate my people for no reason". Idk, maybe it's because your people regularly come to pillage and Nader wants to keep ships as souvenirs, idk?
Nopes made me feel sympathy for Lorenz and that's no meager feat.

I'm really sorry you have to deal with edelstans, Tumblr used to be a fun place but they target and harass people who don't like their waifu.
I still think they might have something against people who make headcanons, lore posts, shitposts or just have fun.
Now, what does it mean about them, I can't say...
I'm not even sure what their goal is. Do they want me to like Edelgard?? Starting to dislike her because of these interactions with her fans which isn't really doing them any good.
I guess it doesn't matter in the end. They're not going to stop me from posting Nabatean stuff!

Relation :
CĂ©libataire, ce qui me va trĂšs bien ! ✌

There’s really something... off about the writing of Three Houses, isn’t there? According to the devs, they wanted players to immerse themselves in Fodlan. It wants us to pick up all the bits of lore and backstory, see the implications of what’s being said, connect the dots and the like. This is all meant to back up the natural progression of the story regardless of which House we pick to teach, in addition to showing the player how wrong the fourth route is if the fact it’s leader wasn’t depicted as the “Lady of Deceit” wasn’t enough of a clue. It’s supposed to be on us to figure out the mysteries and how they work, and the fact the localization changed information that was meant to be clues does not help.
Sure, you can say that “everyone’s a hero from their own POV” and that might be true in the case of Houses. Edelgard and those who join her believe they are heroes and doing the right thing, but that doesn’t mean that they ARE doing the right thing and the point of immersing ourselves in Fodlan is for the things I mentioned above to start making it clear to the audience what the game views as right and wrong. And, again, the localization doesn’t help because it wants to lean into things being morally grey and that it’s not just that the villain believes she is the good guy, it wants her to be the good guy with it’s alterations to the script.
But here’s the issue; the game basically relays a lot of this through exposition. And the game is so freaking focused on handing out exposition we get stuff like characters never bringing up the Flame Emperor again after the reveal. People don’t react to stuff like a normal person would, not when they can give a piece of information for the player’s string board, nor are they capable of piecing things together themselves unless the plot calls for it (like Claude pointing out the diversity at Garreg Mach). Hell, they released Hopes with exposition they couldn’t fit into Houses!
People would be horrified by what Edelgard is doing, and would be commenting on it. Characters would normally call this shit out, even Fates knew that, but in Houses it’s absent and it makes Fodlan feel so shallow as a result. Like the people aren’t even living there, they’re just reciting lines. And this shallowness resulted in people believing the game was saying things were okay because the characters went along with it. Like Hanneman confirms that the empire still uses demonic beasts in Flower if recruited, so what does it say about the noble students given ranks of general by the empire doing so after going through White Clouds and knowing where Edelgard’s war assets come from? Chances are they were all commanding demonic beasts themselves prior to the formation of the BESF.
Houses tries to be smart, but this all makes it feel like it’s secretly poorly written. If people are walking away with the wrong idea of what the game was trying to say, then there’s a big problem there. Translation plays a role, sure, but this all goes back to the game’s original script and how inorganic the worldbuilding actually was.
It reminds me of Gundam Reconguista in G. In the first episode, the very idea of exposition is mocked when the protagonist is asked a question by his teacher. He says everyone already knows the answer so why should he, but the teacher responds by telling him to just repeat the textbook answer. It highlights how artificial most exposition actually is, done for the convenience of the audience rather than making sense in-universe. The show then spends it's time giving exposition when the characters need it rather than for the audience. It made the show harder to follow, sure, but in the end the world felt so thought-out and lived in it felt believable.
Fodlan does not feel believable in the slightest. It feels like everyone there has no attention span whatsoever, or robotic tour guides telling us about the setting rather than the game showing us this crap.

Selena has assets that work in her favor. It's too bad the Valentine's theme can't go overboard with fanservice, but hey, it keeps my orb stash safe.
Speaking of Morva, I really wanted him here myself, but who am I kidding? Ismaire would've made it here first if it wasn't for Selena's "Sad and Lonely UwU" bullshit.
Why couldn't they give us Joshua and Ismaire instead? 😼‍💹

Character ask game
Merci pour la question ! Le sel va couler Ă  flots !
Tumblr media
8. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

I think you should think long and hard when you start to reach the point where you sympathize with convicted childkiller Ludwig von Aegir and child abuser Gregoire von Varley @randomnameless
Also isn't Fantasyinvader kinda fascist? All I see posted from him in social media through screens is arguments ranting against modernity and being all pro-feudalism.

I was actually so conflicted on where to put Gilbert, since technically he is a Faerghan. But when I saw this card, I couldn't help but see his face.
I do think that Gilbert gets a bad rap, and recontextualising his desertion not as him trying to be a Samurai or honourable, but instead as him being literally unable to process and needing to grieve in his own way humanises him in my eyes. So I'm really glad that this interpretation is not out of left field and you can see it too xD
Four of Cups & FE3H
Tumblr media
The Four of Cups represents a restless time filled with dissatisfaction and discomfort. We see a figure sitting beneath a tree contemplating past failures represented by the three empty cups before him. This feeling of stagnation pushes the figure to consider other options, as a cloud brings a new cup to his view, encouraging him to see beyond his failures.
Gilbert Pronislav’s time spent as a Knight of Seiros encapsulates the message of this card quite well. He served as a Knight of Seiros as penance and self-imposed punishment for his failure to protect King Lambert. He is focusing solely on his losses and fails to see new opportunities for relationships and healing coming his way. He refuses help and support from both within the Church of Seiros and his own family (Annette). By focusing on solely what he has lost, he is unable to move forward.
Tumblr media
In a way, I do think the Church of Seiros provided a space for him to do what he needed to do. He was not ready to reflect, nor think about the future, and the Church of Seiros gave him a place to grieve.

"What if Byleth lived in Garreg Mach" has really always been a pretty neat question. Alternate Universe scenarios are like that. Not sure how I feel about anon speculating if Rhea "kept the baby", as if Byleth was some thing that belonged to Rhea, but... oh well?
and let herself be more open with her feelings to Seteth and Flayn?
That would require a complete change in personality from Rhea. Rhea's just not an emotionally open person, even with the people closest to her. Also we definitely know Flayn is a new addition to Garreg Mach by the time the game began, and Seteth wasn't there at the time that Byleth was born (though judging from his bio, he arrived about 3 years later, so he was there for most of the intervening time).
If we're assuming Rhea even allows Byleth to learn to fight (already a big "if"), the only realistic route we get is Silver Snow, and hoo boy what a change that would be for Three House's longterm appeal. It'd go from the most celebrated game in the franchise to a footnote in its history, Silver Snow being the least-liked route in the game.
There's no particular reason to assume Sothis would awaken in Byleth any earlier. We know that Byleth had been having dreams of her since before the game began, but the skirmish at Remire seemed to trigger something inside her, coaxing her awake. The most logical possibility is that close proximity to Edelgard's Crest of Flames had some sort of reaction, it fits the general themes of the game and we know from Hopes that their Crests resonate in some manner. Hopes instead had Sothis awaken in response to Shez's attack on Byleth.
From there, Byleth might tell Rhea about Sothis, it depends on how prompt Sothis is to get her not to. Even Sothis with all her memories (Hopes) has no issues with Byleth fighting to kill Rhea, so it's unlikely Sothis would be any more predisposed to her daughter than she was in the canon Three Houses. Really, it all depends on whether Byleth tells Rhea. She would, unless Sothis told her not to, and if she does it wouldn't take Rhea much to figure out what happened, at which point she'll try to haul Byleth off to the Holy Throne to "restore her memories". Or as Hopes puts it:
Tumblr media
God, Hopes Sothis is the worst...
Of course, how Rhea reacts to Sothis depends on how Sothis acts. I'm going to go on her acting as in canon, in other words, not trusting Rhea. I can well imagine that Sothis not living up to Rhea's expectations would not end well for any of the three involved in that little snafu.
As for what effect Byleth would have on Rhea... probably minimal. It's not like Sitri noticeably changed Rhea as a person. And would Sothis have an effect on Rhea? Well that depends, again, on how Sothis behaves.
I need your opinion how do you think things would have turned out if Rhea kept the baby told Jeralt to kick rocks and let herself be more open with her feelings to Seteth and Flayn?
It depends anon, do you want a silly answer, a serious answer or a "serious but working within the boudaries of the script" answer?
Like, imagine bby!Billy grew up like Sitri, and then, when they turn 15, they see a loli gremlin in their head.
Serious answer that breaks the game in two : Billy immediately tells Rhea about the apparition in their head, Rhea and Sothis connect 1+1=2 and, well, either the plot is averted (idk, can Sothis pinpoint mole people around?) or Rhea realises her mom's worth moldy peanuts way earlier than she does in SS, or much like what happens in Nopes, Sothis remembers about her fam without plot convenient amnesia...
If incomplete!Sothis (but gradually recovering her memories) is around, I can see Rhea being a bit more open with Seteth and Flayn when she wakes up because, hey, Sothis' back, so the world is supposed to return on the right tracks now and the world will be fine and dandy.
Serious answer that has to work with Fodlan's writing and inability to cook something for more than 10 minutes : Billy for some reason never tells Rhea about Sothis, and yet, given how Sothis has time to recover her memories I guess Billy'd come to understand everything about relics, the nabateans and maybe they'll ask Rhea about their creation -> it ends like it does in the first situation, Rhea learns about Sothis either being incomplete or taking time to wake up, is more or less chill with it, opens a bit to her bro (?) and waits until Sothis feels ready to take Fodlan's reins or guide some humans if she feels like it (or, according to Nopes, I guess she could also become a bit pissed and insist on recovering her fallen kids, which might piss Faerghus a bit and all).
---
For all those answers though, bby!Billy grows to become Billy without any major changes, save that maybe they can emote was faster than they do in canon and are, bar some oddities, someone as "normal" as Sitri was, hell maybe they developed friends in the Monastery and the Officers Academy, or graduated, or became a Cardinal, or a nun, etc etc...
Still, we know canon-wise Billy is very protective towards the ones they see as family or close ones, so in a serious setting, I guess, they'll lose patience or have more of a reaction than TV static when some people will start to cry fraudulously about crests creating nobility or the CoS creating racism, or crests being the reason why everything is BaD (tm) in the world.
Fraud trying to sell some "I wonder what the world would look like without Rhea" would either be meet with a punch in the face, or at least, a serious frown - and depending on how many bedtime stories Rhea told them about "Great Emperor Wilhelm's Heroic Fight against the Forces of Evil", they might be a bit annoyed at the Hresvelgs.
For Rhea though, I suppose she'd have welcomed a new addition to the family - Billy is, regardless of them being Sothis' souljar or not, Billy, someone she cares and values as their own individual, let them be some asleep!Sothis or, just, Sitri and Jeralt's kid.
Add to the mix maybe 20 years of raising them? They'd be family and maybe help her open a bit more to the world and her family, even if she's ashamed or having worked on the res Sothis project
(I'd like some scene where Billy's annoyed when Rhea apologises for trying to resurrect Sothis, because regardless of her endgoals and what not, she still is the reason why they, and Sitri, are alive, so if she apologises for trying to res Sothis it's also as if she apologises for giving them life, which is something a Billy who was raised with a higher sense of self than being a mere sword might not find pleasant).
