Anyone want to translate re: sukeban deka with me? Re: Sukeban Deka is a remake of the original Sukeban Deka manga but from what the mangaka said, apparently he upgraded the production of the manga in his retelling of it. I'm personally just interested to translate it since I know it will get more people into the series because of the modern artstyle and I want to compare it to the original.

I'm a cleaner/typesetter, I just need someone to translate it for me and provide the raws. If you're passionate about translating sukeban manga in general, please let me know!

The first volume of the remake is free to read digitally until the end of 3/29, i linked it as well.

Wait wait wait wait, just found out that recently they made THREE Sukeban Deka modern spin-offs! One is magical girl themed while other has a time travel dynamic!! what?! I'm reeling! (yeah I haven't googled the series in ages, so I'm finding out just now) woah.

Just look at this:

Sukeban Deka: Pretend, the magical yo-yo supernatural manga.

Toki wo Kakeru Sukeban Deka, the time traveling manga (also with a magical yo-yo).

Re: Sukeban Deka. I don't know what this is about but Saki here totally looks like Utena Tenjou.

(EDIT: It's a retelling of the original manga with new art. The art looks super cute!)

Perhaps this is beyond your expertise, but what are your opinions, if any, on the late Toei writer Noboru Sugimura's later work at video game company Capcom - namely the Resident Evil series starting with the second installment (Resident Evil 2)?

Resident Evil 2 and the Onimusha games are some of my favorites ever. 

I think RE2 stands out as one of the best original Playstation games because it took everything excellent about the first game, expanded it into a city rather than just a single mansion, added more characters and gave us a deeper, interconnecting story with more background on the STARS team and how the Umbrella Corporations screw up at the mansion doomed the rest of the world.  It was bleak without being humorless and tense without losing a sense of fun.

It also introduced two of my favorite characters in the franchise: Claire Redfield and Ada Wong.

Onimusha, on the other hand, took Samurai Action and merged it with Resident Evil type formula to create a historical epic with demons.  It was a genius move and though not Sugimura’s own idea (it was originally Yoshiki Okamoto’s) his writing style shines through.  It’s way more over the top than RE though, especially once it gets to the third installment and adds Jean Reno as one of the characters. It kind of sad his writing division of Capcom, Flagship is no longer around.

While I still prefer his tokusatsu work (he worked on Kamen Rider Black which is one of my favorites) and he was the head writer for the Sukeban Deka TV series, which I am currently watching, his video game work may be his most well known in the West. I will forever love this man though for being in charge of Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, Gosei Sentai Dairanger, Ninja Sentai Kakuranger and Chouriki Sentai Ohranger.  He oversaw one of the best periods in the development of what we know as modern Super Sentai and it wouldn’t be as popular today (especially in the US) without him.
