Elvis And Linda Thompson
Elvis’ entourage could be impenetrable, exclusive and cliquish, but the one girlfriend they happily accepted was Linda.
One of the earliest pictures of Elvis with Linda was taken at the National Gospel Quartet convention in October 1972.
Linda was photographed with Elvis and his longtime Tupelo friend Janelle McComb, when she visited Graceland sometime in December 1972.
Elvis with Linda before his afternoon concert in Atlanta on June 30, 1973.
Elvis and Linda with Vernon Presley and his wife Dee.  They were at the Kang Ree karate studio in Memphis on July 23, 1973.
Linda looks at Red West as they arrive in Los Angeles on May 11, 1974.
Elvis and Linda in a hotel room around 1974-75.
Sam Thompson, his wife Louise as well as Elvis and Lisa Marie were pictured in August 1975 with Linda and her parents Sanford and Margie Thompson.
Elvis and Linda entering the front gates at Graceland after a trike ride on September 8, 1975.
Elvis and Linda in a limousine leaving the airport for Arlington Park Hilton in Chicago on October 14, 1976.  It is the last known photo of Elvis with Linda as she left a month later.
Linda in later life.  She is wearing a replica of the jacket made around 1973 by East West Musical Instruments Co. of San Francisco.  Ginger Alden, the girlfriend who more or less replaced Linda in Elvis’ love life, stated that Elvis gave her the original jacket while at Graceland in 1977.

Short Story Tournament - S2
TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT TWO-TONGUED JEREMY by Theodore McCombs (2018) (link) - tw: child abuse, manipulation, suicide, homophobia, revenge porn
His name was Two-Tongued Jeremy; he was a monitor lizard with a forked tongue, thick glasses, and a wild, wagging smile meant to convince children that learning could be fun, too. He came highly rated. He updated automatically. There were no red flags. There was no warning.
MORRIGAN IN THE SUNGLARE by Seth Dickinson (2014) (link) - tw: war, death
Like weaponized poetry, except that deep down your poem always says "we have to live. They have to die."

Wolf Creek Valley Overlook, CO (No. 5)
For decades, a major resort project proposed by Texas billionaire Red McCombs has been causing controversy in the area. The proposed resort would be situated near the summit of the pass and support over 8,000 people. People familiar with the high alpine environment and water issues in the area question the wisdom of a resort style village at 10,000' elevation. McCombs has been working with the Forest Service to acquire highway access to the property, which is an inholding.
Over several decades the Forest Service has been the target of multiple lawsuits from community groups for incompletely assessing the environmental impacts of approving a highway access point to the property and withholding information requested through the Freedom of Information Act. Following the most recent lawsuit, the developers reached agreement not to break ground at the site until the case is resolved in court.
Opponents of the "Village" state that the development would likely harm a vital wildlife corridor between the Weminuche and South San Juan Wilderness areas, alter backcountry experiences on Wolf Creek Pass, compete with local businesses in nearby Pagosa Springs and South Fork, adversely affect rare fen wetlands, and stress water supplies in the Rio Grande watershed. Proponents claim the "Village" would improve the economics of the region.

If you're a fan of college softball, you know there's nothing quite like the epic rivalry between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns. A titanic clash of two of the most storied programs in NCAA Women's Softball, it's a game that's always marked on the calendar with a big red circle. "Great moments are born from great opportunity, and that's what you have here today." Herb Brooks' iconic quote holds especially true when it comes to the Oklahoma-Texas rivalry. The high stakes and heightened emotions turn each Oklahoma vs. Texas softball game into a historic event. Setting the Scene: The History of the Rivalry The rivalry between these two teams extends far beyond the softball diamond. Oklahoma and Texas have a long-standing competitive history in various sports, which further amplifies the intensity when the Sooners and Longhorns meet on the softball field. Fans flock to the OU Softball Stadium or the McCombs Field in Austin, sporting their team's colors and hoping for a victory. After all, every game in this rivalry contributes to the team's standing in the NCAA Softball Rankings, making the win even more crucial. Key Players: The Driving Forces Behind the Teams Success in softball, as in any sport, relies heavily on the athletes themselves. From the pitchers and catchers to the infielders and outfielders, each player has a vital role to play. With a close eye on the OU Softball Roster, it's clear that these athletes are more than ready for the challenge. However, the players aren't the only ones driving the teams' success. The coaching staff plays a critical role, meticulously planning strategies, analyzing opposition tactics, and ensuring the athletes are physically and mentally prepared for the big game. Now, as we gear up for another thrilling season, the anticipation around the Oklahoma-Texas rivalry continues to grow. The question remains, who will come out on top in 2023? The Showdown: A Closer Look at Oklahoma and Texas Softball As we delve deeper into this riveting rivalry, it's crucial to take a look at the respective strengths of these exceptional teams. The Oklahoma Sooners have been a dominant force in NCAA Softball, with a potent mix of power hitting and robust pitching. "In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity." This quote from Albert Einstein could very well be the motto for the Sooners. Time and again, they have turned challenging situations into winning streaks, and their clashes with the Texas Longhorns have been no different. On the other side of the diamond, the Texas Longhorns exhibit incredible resilience and adaptability. They have built a reputation for being a team that rises to the occasion, especially when facing their ardent rivals from Oklahoma. The competitive edge of both teams is further heightened in their face-offs, resulting in some of the most memorable moments in NCAA Softball. With each game, they write a new chapter in their rivalry, adding to the rich tapestry of their shared history. The Impact of the Fans: Creating an Unforgettable Atmosphere Every clash between Oklahoma and Texas is not just a game, but a spectacle. The passion of the fans is an integral part of this experience. The cheers, the roars, the gasps of anticipation - all create an electric atmosphere that truly embodies the spirit of college softball. Whether you're watching the game at the stadium or following the OU Softball Score at home, the excitement is contagious. As the anticipation for the 2023 season builds, fans are eagerly awaiting the schedule announcement. And while every game is important, it's the Oklahoma vs. Texas Softball clash that will undoubtedly be the highlight. The 2023 Season: A Clash to Look Forward To The upcoming 2023 season of NCAA softball promises to be more thrilling than ever, with the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns eager to take to the field. The stakes will be high and the rivalry even fiercer as they compete for the top spot.
"Champions keep playing until they get it right." - Billie Jean King This quote aptly describes the unyielding spirit of both teams as they prepare for the upcoming battles on the field. The lineups are set, the players are training hard, and fans are buzzing with excitement as they check the softball schedule for the much-anticipated Oklahoma vs. Texas games. At SportyConnect, we're equally excited about the upcoming season and are committed to bringing you the most accurate, up-to-date news about your favorite teams and players. Keep an eye on our Oklahoma Softball page for the latest updates about the Sooners and their preparation for the face-offs against Texas. In conclusion, whether you're a die-hard Oklahoma Sooners fan, a devoted Texas Longhorns supporter, or a neutral fan of NCAA Softball, the Oklahoma vs. Texas softball games are a spectacle you don't want to miss. These games serve as a testament to the passion, determination, and love for the sport that both teams exhibit. As the teams gear up for the season, so should we, to witness some of the most captivating moments in softball history. The rivalry continues, and the game is on!
Read the full article
