This was a big decision for us. I never thought that I would ever, ever, buy a new car. Let alone on finance! 😬 However to cut a long story short our family car was 10 years old. It ran fine until all at once loads of things went wrong and we ended up spending approx €1500 on it 😭. We did so thinking that it would last us another couple of years. : 3wks later the gear box went and I couldn’t source a new/second hand gearbox at a reasonable price. 😞 : We have had a lot of unforeseen expenses lately and the emergency fund got plundered on other things ( thank goodness for emergency funds) : So needing a car but low funds available,we bought another car, cheap enough but almost straight away we had to start pouring more money into that one. It spent more time in the garage than not. : Ireland is at a funny point in time with cars with regard to fuel prices, tax, climate change. So after running the numbers over 5 years. It looks like buying a new electric family car will be about the same as what it would cost to keep a traditional car on the road. : We had to make a decision : So here is what we care up with- Over 10 years the electric ( as the car would be paid off after 5 years) should be notably cheaper. : So here I am. On the cusp of another risky experiment. : Does anyone else have an electric car?
