Title: Broken

This was the second picture I choose for the object assignment.  This is my son, Caelon.  He is 11 and full of life.  In this photo I took the mirror, and broke it.  Upon breaking it, I was able to use a piece of it to create this image. The formal elements in this picture that stand out to me are lines of the glass, texture of soft skin vs sharp corners, and the space of the wall, his face and the surreal imagery.  It almost tricks your mind into thinking his face is in the wall. 

The lines in the glass give off a sharp and defined edge, yet the reflection of his skin is soft and warm. The sharp glass and the soft skin are polar opposites and i feel like this is where the emotion comes from.  I find that the combo of space and textures in this photo enhance the overall aesthetics.  

Photos have feelings? YES. When I look at this photo, as his mother, I have so many emotions. Those eyes.
