I'm gonna say Gothel appearing in Rapunzel's nightmare at the beginning of "What the Hair?!" While I was watching it, I screamed so loud that my neighbor asked me if I was okay. XD

Runner up was Varian's turn to villainy at the end of "Queen For a Day".

Other things that would have surprised me more, had I not been spoiled on them before the episode aired in the US, would be the Reverse Incantation and finding out that Vigor was Demanitus. In fact, the whole Demanitus thing was so surprising that when people would throw their theories and conjecture my way for that point forward, I would always reply, "The monkey is Demanitus! Anything is possible!" In fact, I have an entire tag for "The monkey is Demanitus" XD

And speaking of the decay incantation, @th3p0rtalmaker and @tbspirits, I’m half tempted to write a scene similar to this one from Dragon Prince where Claudia attacks a dragon but for Cassandra…in which she uses the decay incantation 😈😈😈 Probably for the first time. I have no idea what the antagonist would be but Cass would just be pushed to her limit and is now itching to prove that she’s not that subservient obedient little lady in waiting anymore. She is the Moonstone, and you will not make her afraid.

LIMITED BANNER: EYES UP

Lock: 6☆ Plant | Burst DMG, Control, DPS

Inheritance: Nondescription

Attack: Wallflower Bullseye | Attack: Flourishing Weed | Ultimate: Key Rust

Lock's gimmick is that he deals Genesis damage and only Genesis damage, otherwise acting as a basic single-target DPS. He gets a significant flat increase in damage if he has buffs or the opponent has debuffs, and his Ultimate "locks down" the opponent, making them unable to apply buffs or dispel debuffs. He also occasionally enters an anti-Taunt state where he can't be selected as the target of a single-target attack.

Mixed, he/him, portrayed in the 1990s.

Lock is the third in the trio of himself, K, and Pinion -- he's an incredibly plain-looking salaryman that likes to indulge in a little bit of direct corporate sabotage that will never be tied back to him before quitting the job and moving on to the next business to ruin. Always gathering data, never anything other than average.

He really is pretty normal other than the sabotage thing -- quiet, reserved, has a very dry and deadpan sense of humor. Mostly goes along with K's ideas because it's great for helping him choose new targets to ruin. Thinks Pinion is incredibly creepy and is not afraid to voice that (which Pinion is delighted by, causing a sort of "dog heaven is also squirrel hell" situation between the two).

Eyes 5☆ Spirit | Cleanse, DPS

(Doesn't have an Inheritance name yet, sorry!)

Attack: Your Own Self | Attack: Uncanny Watch | Ultimate: Warding Rally

Eyes is designed as a Reality damage equivalent to Charlie, someone that dishes out excellent DPS but doesn't really care about crits all that much. They have a single-target Ultimate that attempts to move debuffs from the caster to the target, which can remove non-dispellable buffs and randomly gives Moxie to the team for any buffs that couldn't be fully moved over because of immunities.

Beyond, he/they, time of portrayal unknown.

Eyes is based on legends of the Fair Folk, especially Scottish ones -- I'd ideally like to have him speak in Scots for his dialogue. There's a little pinch of the Herobrine mythos in there as well; essentially, Eyes is Fair Folk and is very interested in just kind of... watching people, seeing what they're getting up to.

Normally very calm, but can and will pull Some Fae Nonsense if he wants to. Occasionally rides with the (mythological, real in-universe) Wild Hunt and might be an UTTU informant. Gets along well with Lock, who will occasionally relay information to him.

Returning 5☆: Bkornblume OR Blonney OR Tennant

(We've got a few options!)

Bkornblume keeps the surveillance and covert sabotage theme established most heavily by Lock. She doesn't have a lot of direct thematic ties to Eyes, but she definitely fits the bill for liking to people-watch.

Blonney's the opposite, here on her ties to storytelling made reality with only a tenuous similarity to Lock in that they both act as humans to get a little more advantage in life. Eyes probably knows her (she does not know Eyes).

Tennant splits the difference between the two as a scammer specifically known for turning worthless materials into precious ones long enough to pull one over on people. Very Eyes in concept, very Lock in execution.

Arcanist: La Source

An elfin living in the spring who grants wishes? You wish! Think about it, if people keep throwing rubbish and dirty coins at your house, there is no doubt you will be driven crazy just as she is.

Exhibition Details An arcanist's work. Exhibited in the 1850s for an unknown period of time. Completed in winter, on January 29th. Exhibited on the outskirts of Paris, French Fourth Republic, no record of long-distance movement. 3-star arcanist, plant afflatus, mental damage

La Source Rumors about the forest are not always beautiful.

Flower: A flower picked somewhere. Probably because of some unknown elfin blessing, it shows its pistils and stamens instead of withering right away. It's a pity that the fragrance is weak.

Pot: To the people at the time, it was just a doodle of some troublemaker, but it had implied the trend of the future to some extent.

Water: No one knows why water comes out of the pot or why La Source always makes fun of travelers in the forest. Anyway, the people are still sure that the water possesses some kind of magical power that will realize their wishes.

Oh, you're right! Proximity! It absolutely makes sense... and for a similar reason during the great tree incident, the hurt incantation hurt Eugene that much, but it didn't while Rapunzel was trying to rescue Quirin from the amber. Thanks for the answer!

I don't think it was the Reverse Incantation that hurt Eugene. If it was, I don't think Rapunzel would have ever used it again. I think that Hector was using the tree to squeeze Eugene so hard he couldn't breathe and his ribs cracked (which was why he was holding them later) and later pass out. That was the catalyst that caused Rapunzel to finally use the Reverse Incantation. In fact, we had confirmation from Chris that they just needed a way to get Eugene out of the room, otherwise he would never leave Rapunzel's side, and that the Reverse Incantation wasn't actually affecting him any more than anyone else.

As for Quirin, I think it was because she was using the Incantation on the amber, which was shielding him with its impenetrable strength. (Also, I literally don't think they put too much thought into it, which is one of my complaints about the series -- a lack of rules to the magic.)

one of my oldest memories is from when i was about five or six years old. my grandma was visiting that evening, so she was tucking me into bed. now, my parents raised us agnostic with a side of unitarian universalism, so i knew next to nothing about christianity, or that god fellow, or whatever. my grandparents never approved of this, convinced they were damning us kids to hell forever.

so when my grandma was tucking me in and she told me to repeat after her and say “i love you jesus,” i did.

but then she said: “there. and now you’ve let jesus into your heart.” and kissed me and left me to dream sweet child dreams probably of jesus saving my immortal soul or whatever.

except, i didn’t know who the fuck jesus was, and i did not understand metaphor. i certainly had not realized that by saying that, i had apparently invited a small man to take up residence in my heart. my child brain raced with panic: was he in there? what would he do? would i be able to feel him moving around? was he stuck forever now? that seemed mean to him, and felt like my grandma had played a trick on me.

so, sensibly, i decided my best bet to expel this tiny man who i had NOT wanted to move into my heart (aside from surgery, which i discounted as an option when i imagined asking my parents about it) was to do the reverse incantation: i fell asleep that night mumbling and mentally shouting I HATE YOU JESUS I HATE YOU JESUS I HATE YOU JESUS, hoping he would get the message and relocate somewhere that wanted him.

I made a reverse au for @void-dude 's Shapes and Pines au!

Their au makes me so happy! :))) I thought it would be interesting to see them reversed. (I wrote a LOT on here so I'm going to transcribe it all at the end of this)

Honestly this was supposed to be a joke and then I kept drawing and thinking about them. This admittedly got out of hand.

To make up for it, have some Tad Strange and Bill!

Tad: Ow.

1969 Tad Strange is 15 years old. (He looks old for his age and uses this to his advantage) He lost his eye in a firework accident when he was 12 and now, he has a fear of fire and a glass eye. Billium is 12 years old and is about to make a really bad mistake. His eye was missing at birth and can't get a glass eye without surgery. Their parents work together and Bills Parents asked Tad to babysit Billium when they are away to help with his bullies. They become friends. (Mini Comic 1) Billium- "You don't GET IT TAD!" Billium- "I was BORN a freak." Billium- "I can't pretend to be normal because I don't know HOW." Tad- "… Huh."

2012 Bill is a Biologist After his family home burned down, killing both Tad and Bill's families, Bill became interested (obsessed) with necromancy. He started with studying human biology, but his work hit a wall and he became desperate for more knowledge. He summoned Sixer for answers after searching for years trying to find a being that could help him. Who knew that the demon of knowledge could be so susceptible to flattery? It's probably because Sixer doesn't get summoned very often.

Tad is a Car Salesmen He lives in his tow truck just in case he gets chased out of town for selling shitty cars at an increased price. He had lived alone for a long time before Bill tracked him down 4 months ago. Bill apologized and said some cryptic shit about fixing everything. Then he looked around at Tad's tow truck/home and left a paper with weird circles on it and an incantation. He said "Use this to get a better place, you'll need one soon" Then he left. Tad didn't summon Ley until 2 months ago when he almost got shot selling a fake Lamborghini to a gang leader. He was then chased out of town again.

1 Trillion years ago, Sixer and Ley were in the 2nd dimention.

Sixer created a safe(ish) portal to the 3rd dimension which he was able to do because he had one eye that saw in 3d and one that was in 2d.

Ley could see it out of the corner of his eye like Tad did, but doesn't like to look at the world beyond. He accidentally broke the portal Sixer made while trying to use it and now everyone is gone.

Firework Caught in A Moment: The reflection of a weak, dying firework. He sees it as an attempt to celebrate his birthday, though.

A Glimpse of the Universe: Door reflected a small and insignificant area in the boundless, long-standing universe, and disappeared. No one knows if he had made himself a part of the universe through reflecting the universe's image.

An Unknown Flower: Door has displayed the bloom of hundreds of plants patiently, among which only this one made him pause and watch for a long time.
