A book review is crucial. It tells us which books are good and which could use some work, so we can select only the best for our reading piles. It is important that your review help your audience and here are five steps you can use to write an informative & engaging review. 1. Put the book in the context 2. Book Reviewing Tips

Sometimes, I find it hard to review a book. What do I say? How do I say it? Where do I start? My mind will be so confuzzled that I would put it aside, procrastinate, and never review them.

I was also very much inspired by a conversation I had in an instagram group chat, created by @theguywiththebook.

So here I am, writing this post. Sharing with you guys the tips I have picked up from various book reviewers.

Let's get started, shall we?

1) Annotating.

Yes. This may sound basic and is something most will cringe and not do, but trust me. It helps. You do not have to necessarily write in the book.

All you need is a few notepads, some sticky pads and a pencil.

As you read, if you deem it important, you can tab the part or the page. You can also colour code it. Here is an example of mine:

I use a 12 system tab, but you do not have to go as crazy as me. I just like to be suuuper detailed. It's a preference, really. @mrcommonspence (insta handle) uses a 3/4 tab system and it works for him!

@bookswithchloe (insta handle) uses a 7 tab system!

So really, tailor it to your needs.

2) Writing your thoughts down as you go.

Here's where the notepad comes in, if you do not want to write in your book.

Personally, I use a pencil to write in my book, so I can erase them! I am not yet daring enough to use a pen. :')

All you have to do: Stick on the page/part you want to comment on and write away.

3) Summarising your thoughts:

This is inspired by @bookswithchloe (Insta Handle.)

Stick a notepad every 50/100 pages or so and summarise your thoughts on the parts you've read!

Here is my example! Can you see all the pink tabs at the top? This way, you can just refer to it without having to go through tons of tabs to find your thoughts!

(And yes, my handwriting is awful)

That's it, basically!

I have also made a template to make it easier for you, and for me to review! Feel free to use them. Just remember to copy the files first. Cx

You do not have to answer every single question. Just pick what you like!
