Game of Thrones: we changed Asha’s name to Yara because we didn’t want people getting Asha confused with Osha.

House of the Dragon: Yo what up? We got Daemon, Aemond and Vaemond, a bunch of Aegons, a couple of Joffreys, Rhenys and Rhaenyra, and Rhaena, Baela, and Laena. Oh and who could forget Arryk and Erryk, the twin brothers!

It would definitely happen after Viserys’ death. Viserys was one of the few keeping things together. Such as having the reader stay briefly with each family to not cause conflict or removing the reader from situations that will not force them to pick a side. A part of him does know after his death, there will be a fight over the reader. Hence, why in his last supper he reminds them that at the end of the day they are a family. 

Still when the king’s death is announced; chaos ensues. 

In some way, the throne will be involved in that crowning Aegon. In having Aegon be the king, the greens have much power when it comes to having the reader. And while Rhaenyra will want to fight over the throne, there’s also the fight in ‘freeing’ the reader. The blues will join the reds’ side, but they are only using Rhaenyra as a means of getting the reader. 

It also really depends on where the reader is. There’s a huge chance the reader remains by Viserys’ side. Viserys himself knows his time is near so he will want to have his lost possible moments with the reader. Not knowing this will have the reader be under the jaws of the greens. After the king’s death, the reader will be locked in her chambers. Alicent and Otto will try to convince this is for her own good. Criston is also involved in trying to convince the reader, wanting her to see Rhaenyra for who she is. 

The greens may even have the reader attend the coronation, as a way of telling the reds and blues that she’s on their side. Now if the reader is in Oldtown with Daeron. By Otto’s orders, they will have the reader sent to king’s landing. Daeron is the one sending her on dragonback. He also convinces the reader to join them, asking if she wants to see Rhaenyra kill them all. 

If the reader is in dragonstone when this happens. Rhaenyra and Daemon are quick to put her into hiding. Their children also surround the reader with fear of anyone taking her from them. They even try to stop Rhaenys from seeing her, but Rhenys reminds them that it’s her who gave them the message. Also, Baela and Rhaena try to stop their father from doing so. 

It makes the two more furious when Otto gives them the peace agreements, that he dares to ask for the reader to come back ‘to where she belongs’. Those words alone make Daemon remove his sword from his sheath. And while Rhaenyra considers the peace terms, she makes it clear that the reader is to remain on their side. That itself, makes the greens declare war on her. When Aemond crosses paths with Luke on Storm’s end, he even offers to let him go if they hand the ‘reader’ to them. But Luke refuses it. 

If the reader is in driftmark with a recovering Corlys. Corlys will refuse to hand the reader to the reds or greens. It’s enough especially when the reds took his children away. He refuses to let them take the reader as well. But Rhaenys advises him it’s best to go against one family than two. For now, they will align themselves with the reds, but as soon as they win-the reader is to remain on driftmark. Even if it means having to go against the reds in the future.

I think they show their love in some little gestures:

When Rhenys silences Corlys, then he takes her hand and strokes it with his thum.

At the wedding when Laenor screams, Rhaenys is scared and worried and she grasps Corlys's harm, then they both run towards Laenor.

Corlys is obsessed with Rhaenys's neck, we can see it when he says "bedding a woman" but also at the wedding party, they're sitting at the table, and Corlys talks to her, he has his harm on her shoulder and his face is dangerously close to her neck.

They're so different when they're in public and when they're alone. When they're in public they're super united, strong, powerful, the only moments we saw their vulnerabilities is when they're alone. Only one person can see who Corlys is, and this is Rhaenys, only one person can see who Rhaenys is, and this is Corlys.

Ok and the fact that they eye fuck everywhere, they criticize everyone and are sassy, they don't miss a chance to hold their hands and they know what the other is thinking just looking at each other.

Eve and Steve didn't have to go this hard, but you bet your butts they did!

1) The THUMB STROKE 😭

You know Corlys constantly touches her and rubs her hands, back, waist... whatever part of her body, either for comfort or just because. He grasps her hand in a similar way in episode 10. Rhaenys similarly puts her hands on his chest in episodes 5 and 10 which also makes me fucking lose it. (I can imagine that their normal 'hold me' pose is her huddled against his chest and his arms wrapped around her, making soothing circles.)

Also the implication of that gesture is that he's very much used to her sushing him and usually knows when to just say 'yes dear.' 😆

2) I went back and watched the wedding scene again because of this lol... idk how I didn't notice before, but Rhaenys grabs his arm TWICE:

– When the fight breaks out and you hear a woman scream, Corlys stands up from the table and you can see in a few frames that Rhaenys' hand is on his arm.

– When the crowd clears, Rhaenys runs around in front of the table beside Corlys, and again she puts her hand on his arm. And then yes, when Laenor screams, they both start to move towards him before the scene cuts.

They normally DO NOT TOUCH in public, but Rhaenys is scared for their son, so she reaches out to her husband for comfort.

3) The NECKING

You know that woman is constantly covered in hickeys. And I maintain that he buys her necklaces just as an excuse to kiss her neck as he puts them on her.

Also their body language in contrast to Alicent and Viserys' is super interesting: The king and queen are sitting stiffly apart. Corlys and Rhaenys are turned in towards one another, his arm is over her chair, they're talking to one another, and he's LEANING IN. They clearly love and enjoy each other's company.

5) I would listen to hours and hours of Steve and Eve talking about their rehearsal process and character work. They absolutely nailed the "we've been married for a long time and adore each other" AND the private vs public personas.

1. uwuing viserys and seemingly forgetting his flaws bc old sad man stood up for his daughter (seemingly forgetting that he was a weak king, he sliced open and murdered his first wife, cousin, and supposed love of his life without her consent in his quest for a male heir, he ignored rhaenyra for years in his quest for a son, he made her heir out of guilt, he didnt teach her how to properly rule, his lack of want for conflict lead in part to the dance, he ignored his other 4 children, he also fell for alysent a literal 14-15 year old child bride and fucked her several times and ignored her and her kids, he got remarried and got her pregnant when he didnt technically need to)

2. uwuing daemon and being shocked at him grabbing rhaenyra by the neck (okay yea i ship them too but im well aware their relationships is absolutely fucked and theyre both war criminals like oh my god none of this is good this is just fun what made you think this man is some sort of goals also this man is literally renound for being fucked in the head and also. hes her uncle)

3. endlessly arguing to such a dramatic level between Adults about team green vs team black w a seeming forgetting that Both Of These Teams Suck ass (both sides wanting to forget the morally fucked aspects of the other side, while also not taking into account that all this is a critique of the medieval and royal system and its a tragedy and thus much arguing about rightful this and that is kinda missing the point)

4. generally looking for things like morality heros and whatnot when the whole point of game of thrones is complex characters which break general writing tropes and are both good and bad in one person and who you both hate and like. also by the end theyll all be war criminals. theres no jon snow here w the morality and even he hung a kid lmao

5. making alicent, a 14-15 year old traumatized child bride into the most evil bitch villan somehow when clearly in the show she is not the older in age manipulator from the books but a Girl Child essentially pimped out by her father to the king who again, is clearly very traumatized

6. endless arguing about how "the show shows what really happaned in the books and youre not allowed to think otherwise" like well okay great but also the ages of several characters are very different from in the books which changes a lot and also. in the books a dragon didnt burst through the floor killing hundreds of smallfolk and threathening all the greens which would have definetely been recorded so,,,,,,, nah man

What was the whole point of introducing velaryon princes if no lord or lady (even corlys and rhenys who were directly affected) changed their allegiance due to it. They were all killed and story was mostly fine without them. Only greens used it as another tool in their propaganda but they were fine without it as well. So apart from making rhaenyra morally bad in eyes of readers (maybe by comparing to cersei here), Is there any other point of those boys?

Honestly you said everything so I don't have a whole lot to add. While they were the most legitimate reason the Greens had to fight against Rhaenyra, her illegitimate children are not the main reason they point out... As for the other houses they all seem to not care...

I would argue this was just used by George as something to cause drama/make the story more interesting, and make the fight less black and white and more grey because let's be honest, if Rhaenyra's children were legitimate, the only reason for the Greens would have would be her being a woman... which is not the best let's be honest.

To give more strength to my argument of using the "Velaryon" princes to make the people be less sure of who they want to root for, in my fic I've had people telling me that in canon because of them they are Team Black, but in my ficverse they are all for the Blacks.

I think in canon the Greens definitely should have pushed this as an issue more clearly and not as an after thought.

Unpopular opinion: I feel like Rheynera's character has changed too much as the transition from the young actress to the adult actress happened. When she was young she was ambitious, she wanted to be a Queen and didn't care about people's opinions. But the older version of her seems to see the heir title as burden. I'm not saying that it can't happen..it most certainly can but my problem is that we didn't see the events in her life that might have led her to this change. She was a smart young women but did a very stupid thing by having children with Harwin Strong.. I mean she knew she was an heir and the illegitimate children would put her own claim in question. Then why did she do it???? She could have had relations with Harwin but not children. she and Leanor could have tried more for their own kids, it's really not that hard. She, herself put her and her kids on the platform to be questioned and ridiculed by everyone. If not for Viserys's unconditional love for her, she would had to face some very serious punishment for it. Then she begs everyone's to do things for her, be it Daemon or Viserys or Rhenys...like I don't understand where is she going with this..

I'm not team black or green...so don't assume anything. Anyone is welcome for discussion though
