timelines shift all the time based on the choices that we make and it happens every single 10th of second. we're literally creating as we speak right now. le te bejme zgjedhje te vetëdijshme dhe formulojme ose riformulojme mendime te vetedijshme, sepse ne momentin qe nje pordh mendimi leshohet ajo mberrin tek personi/eventi/takimi i rradhes e reflektohet pas tek ty ne menyre subkoshiente dhe koshiente ne menyre shkak-pasoje. pra nese mendojme negativisht per dike ato vale energjitike ngelen ne auren e personit dhe ndikojne ne cilesine e jetes se vet. e pikerisht kjo gje reflektohet pas tek ne sepse edhe nese personi nuk e kupton kete gje, ne menyre subkoshiente e kupton, deri sa stimulohet mjaftushem sa per tu kthyer pas tek ty ne menyre koshiente. ama dhe nese ajo nuk kthehet ne menyre koshiente nga personi, mendimi qe ti ke leshuar ka terhequr nje pasoje negative tek dikush tjeter qe nuk supozohej te ndodhte, e shkaku je ti! ndaj ne "terheqim negativitet", sepse leshojme negativitet padashur shpeshhere dhe ato falen, mjafton te kemi deshiren ti riformulojme ne menyre koshiente. WE HAVE FREE WILL, AS WE DANCE IN THE UNIVERSAL HARMONY. Rick and Morty speaking of reality with the timelines.
𖡹 storytime 𖣠
kete gje e vura re dhe para disa kohesh me nje person me te cilin jam shume rehat por ndodhi nje situate ne te cilen une kam patur nje eksperience te perseritur me disa persona te tjere dhe kete gje e mendova dhe mendova dhe mendova shume here sesi kishte ndodhur perpara dhe sesi "mund" te ndodhte dhe tani. e pas disa kohesh teksa afrohesha te takoja personin, rruges duke ecur ndjeva sesi ndjesine e mia filluan te ndryshonin... ishte e cuditshme dhe e frikshme sepse ishte AJO ndjesia. e ne nje moment mendova, prit...po une isha shume lart sot ne gjendje si ndodhi kjo krejt papritur. e teksa i afrohesha me shume personit tjeter luftoja kete ndjenje dhe mendoja sesi kjo ishte e mundur qe kisha interferuar ne timeline-in tim. e vazhdon biles hahahah, pasi kaloi pjesa qe une vete kisha orkestruar prej kohesh ne koken time (e cila ishte shume shpejt, diku tek 3 minuta) takimi jone u kthye ne normalitet. pse? sepse vete une kisha kaluar mund te them me ore te tera ne lufte me mendjen time, pa mundur te riformuloj nje fjali mendimi per te ndryshuar kete histori. me sakt disa fjali... disa fjali bindese te bazuara ne informacione. dhe e gjithe ajo fuqi dhe kohe mendore e harxhuar per 3 minuta realitet, ah po.. + 7 minutshin e rruges aty hahhaha. mire qe nuk e kisha cuar imagjinaten me tutje se do e kisha menderosur fare pastaj hahahaha.
jam e lumtur ta ndaj kete histori per here te pare me ju!
this is basically what cause and effect is on my prespective. use discernment for this information and only take what you feel is true for you!
uroj ta keni shijuar dhe t'ju kete infiltruar ndonje mendim te ri ne dritat tuaja te bukura🤍.

This week on Rock’s Backpages
GREETINGS to all festive spirits and lone groovers out there. On Rock's Backpages this week we spotlight not one but two great American music writers...
Nelson George, our next podcast guest, talks to NME's Paolo Hewitt about his Death Of Rhythm & Blues in 1989, plus we feature Mark Dery's review of that seminal book and Ian Penman's review of 1998's Hip Hop America. Meanwhile Village Voice veteran Dan Nooger sees Bruce Springsteen at Max's Kansas City in January 1973... and interviews Arthur Lee and the Average White Band for Circus in 1975. We also say farewell to Mahavishnu Orchestra bassist Rick Laird with pieces from 1966 and 1974. For RBP subscribers there are audio interviews with powerhouse R&B production duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, firm faves of Mr. George's (you'll hear him discussing them in Episode 105 of the RBP podcast). There are also dozens of additions to our library of 45,000+ articles & 700+ audio interviews, including L.A. Weekly's Byron Coley on The Minutemen (1983), Vanity Fair's Sheila Weller looking back on Haight-Ashbury's Summer of Love and great pieces about... • Lee Dorsey (1966) • Brinsley Schwarz (1971) • Harry Chapin (1975) • Haircut 100 (1981) • Bobby Womack (1985) • Ween (1993) ... and (from 2014) Kim Gordon. Listen to the latest episode of our acclaimed podcast, in which Vivien Goldman talks wonderfully about Joe Strummer, postpunk feminism and the late '70s Ladbroke Grove scene. "When it has to do with my life, my life, I wanna be the one in control..."

SPECIAL DUELING BARTENDERS EVENING
Some nights, some events, can be absolutely over the top. So it was last night with Dueling Bartenders at Aqua.
The room jumped!
I was supposed to pick Terri up and bring her with me. donna had to work and would be late. Lately typical, I forgot. Forgot to pick Terri up.
I was on my way into Aqua when the I remembered. Simultaneously, Donna was on the phone. Where are you? Going into Aqua. I know, I forgot to pick Terri up.
Back to car and on to mid town. Terri waiting outside for me. A lady about the whole thing.
Tom Luna and Rick Dery singing. If Terri is there, she sings also. As Terri and I walked in, Tom Luna brushed aside me and gave Terri who was behind me a big hug. Also, a microphone. Terri was welcome to sing when ever moved to do so.
Terri is special. Her vocal chords unique. the walls move when she gets into a song.
She got to me with Suddenly Seymour. Brought tears to my eyes.
A strange existence. Here she is singing and dancing while singing on occasion with Rick. You would never know she has  a heavy cancer she is battling. Been on chemo for several months now. Hopefully a special surgery in Tampa in late May.
Terri put a little joy into everyone’s hearts.
Sitting next to Terri at the bar were four young males. Off the Carnival Freedom which was docked at Mallory Square. The four from Texas, New Jersey and Los Angeles. Havord a dancer. Tim a singer, Justin a yoga instructor. The fourth, John. I cannot recall his function on the Freedom.
Terri blew them out!
Looked for Liz. No Liz.
Saw Lynn. First time in a couple of years. Lynn ran a popular optometrist business here for years. Fell off the face of the earth two years ago. Obviously has returned. She said she intends to remain.
Welcome back, Lynn!
Then came John the Baptist. The words fell out of my mouth. Someone next to me said, no. It’s Moses.
In reality Joseph Lyles. Former manager of the Hot Tin Roof. Now retired. Ninety nine percent recovered from a serious back surgery. Walking not with a cane. Rather, a six foot pole. Joseph a bit shorter. The pole and his new beard rendered him John the Baptist or Moses.
We agreed to have dinner together next week.
My yesterday morning was spent running around town taking care of some business matters.
My afternoon split between watching Love Story and preparing for tonight’s podcast. Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou.
Love Story got to me in similar fashion as Terri’s Suddenly Seymour. A few tears. I have seen the movie many times. It still hits the soft spot in me.
Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou is at 9 my time. A quick moving eye opening half hour. www.blogtalkradio.com/key-west-lou.
Topics will include a little Trump. How can he be left out? Trump’s invitation to Kim Jong Un to visit the White House, still refusing to back off Obama a “sick and bad guy,” claiming Andrew Jackson upset with the Civil War and would have kept us out of it.
Followed Attorney/General Sessions and the Congressional bar against him prosecuting state medical marijuana laws.
Also, a Venezuelan  update, the new Fourth Reich, cobalt big money, John Tyler’s marital prowess, white people sub-human re certain black advocates, and more.
Duval not always as it is today.  Take O Duval. Where the Pier House and Ocean Key House sit today. Two magnificent resorts.
The Key West Citizen this morning in its Keys History section ran a photo of O Duval 1946. No Pier House, no Ocean Key House. Instead the beginning of a small distribution center for Gulf Oil. A very small building. Nothing more, except bare dock top.
Enjoy your day!

Friday, May 31: Masterplan, “No Escape”
Novum Initium was a third reboot for Masterplan: after an ill-fated detour into bluesy hard rock on the Mike DiMeo-fronted Mk. II and an even more ill-fated reunion with Jørn Lande on Time To Be King, Roland Grapow replaced 60% of the previous lineup and reasserted his power metal bona fides by bringing in an ex-Stratovarius bassist and the Lande-esque Rick Altzi on vocals.  As a result, “No Escape” arguably hewed closer to power metal conventions than anything else Masterplan had ever recorded, sounding more like a Stratovarius/Firewind hybrid than either the traditional metal songcraft of the band’s first two albums or Grapow’s previous work with Helloween.  Altzi’s growl certainly recalled Lande, but his voice was more straightforwardly metallic, while Grapow ceded a lot of ground to keyboardist Axel Mackenrott, though the crunch of his guitar was still prevalent in the mix.  To an extent, this made Masterplan harder to distinguish from the scads of European power metal acts on the scene, but Grapow retained the sense of craft that, whether he wanted to admit it or not, he absorbed during his years with Michael Weikath and Andi Deris.  And ultimately, “No Escape” was the sort of song the band needed to make at this point, effectively reestablishing Masterplan as a part of the movement.

Israel freezes landmark plan for mixed-gender prayer at the Western Wall
World
Israel freezes landmark plan for mixed-gender prayer at the Western Wall
The Israeli government froze a long-overdue plan Sunday to open a mixed-gender prayer area at Jerusalem's Western Wall, a major policy reversal that infuriated the liberal streams of Judaism that represent most Jews in the United States. Israel had approved the plan in January 2016 after years of negotiations with liberal Israeli and American Jewish groups, but the deal was called off following pressure from ultra-Orthodox Jewish parties in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing coalition. Netanyahu, trying to placate both his coalition partners and wealthy American Jewish donors ordered top aides to formulate a new plan but said little more. The reversal set off a cascade of criticism from liberal groups both in Israel and abroad.
There is a limit to how many times you can be delegitimized and insulted...This is the core mission of the Jewish state — to be a home for all Jews ... it is unthinkable but the unthinkable just happened.
Rabbi Rick Jacobs, the President of the Union for Reform Judaism, the largest stream of Judaism in the United States
The ultra-Orthodox religious establishment sees itself as responsible for maintaining traditions through centuries of persecution and assimilation, and it resists any inroads from liberals it often considers to be second-class Jews who ordain women and gays and are overly inclusive toward converts and interfaith marriages. American Jews, who have long lamented Israel should be as accepting of their religious practices as they are of their financial and political support, have been pushing for the new prayer area and had warned that if the deal did not go through it would lead to a dangerous rupture with North American Jewry. The liberal streams have made strides in recent years, establishing synagogues, youth movements and schools. But they still have very little political backing, and authorities have generally tended to regard them as a somewhat alien offshoot imported from North America.
Preserving the status quo of the Western Wall reflects the will of most of the people...There is no room there for destructive factions whose only purpose is to desecrate the site.
Arieh Deri, head of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party

ANTI-SEMITISM ON RISE IN U.S.
The Anti-Defamation League issued a report yesterday. Claims anti-Semitism on the rise in the United States. Statistics provided in support.
In the first quarter of 2017, there have been 541 incidents. An increase of 86 percent over the same period last year.
Viewing 2016 alone, a larger number of incidents occurred over 2015. The leading states were New York, California, and New Jersey. Florida alone saw a 50 percent increase in number of incidents.
The cause? The article suggests Trump. The article accuses Trump of using anti-Semitic memes during the campaign.
2016 saw an overall increase of 34 percent over 2015. One third of the increase occurred in the last two months of 2016.
Spoken words of hatred beget hatred. Mouthing hatred encourages hatred.
Is Trump anti-Semitic? I don’t think so. He is a man with a Jewish daughter, son in law and grandchildren. I sense Trump to be a man who uses any tool to get ahead. Not actually believing what he says. Not thinking or concerned with the impact of his words.
Still makes Trump responsible for his spoken words. He creates problems whenever he opens his mouth.
By the way, anti-Semitism is down in Europe.
Spent yesterday afternoon researching tonight’s podcast show. Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou. Exciting and revealing. Fast moving. Nine my time. www.blogtalkradio.com/key-west-lou.
Topics will include anti-Semitism, Netanyahu’s wife in the process of being indicted re using state funds for private spending, bomb attack on Monsanto plant in Italy, middle class continuing to collapse in 20 major U.S. cities, reflection on recent power outages in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles.
Also, a Venezuela update, Trump’s neocon conversion, 900 high school students searched and groped by police, former Trump county chair and Judge arrested for child sex trafficking, United and American Airlines incidents, and more.
Arrived at Aqua early yesterday for Dueling Bartenders. An hour early. Read newspapers till show time.
Tom Luna and Rick Dery singing. Tom a Notary. Married Rick and his spouse this past week. Congratulated a happy Rick re his marriage.
Liz showed up! I had not seen her since her hospitalization. Still  with cane. Looks much better. Face relaxed. The eternal hip pain gone.
We decided to have dinner at Antonia’s. Closed. I forgot it was Taste of Key West. Mangoes was open. As unhappy as I was with my last visit, it was the closest open restaurant.
I must admit, the meal was terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed a shrimp pasta. I will return. Lesson learned, I should not condemn a restaurant based on one poor meal.
Technology amazing! Moving super fast in recent years.
We are testing driverless vehicles. First probably will be marketed by the end of this year or next year. Now comes flying cars. Not driverless. A big move forward, however. Expected to be market ready in three years.
Arkansas should be credited! Tried to squeeze 10 executions into one week. Got most in. Two last night. What a claim to fame!
Actually, disgraceful!
Enjoy your day!

Yesterday another busy one. Began with lunch at Sandy’s Cafe. Followed by several errands. A quick nap late in the afternoon. An early evening start. Monday night so it was Dueling Bartenders at Aqua. Tom Luna and Rick Dery the best! A decent crowd for August. Including Liz, Josefina, Mary, and Linda. Another Mary joined me. Mark Watson came hurrying through and gave a wave. Dinner with Mary at Antonia’s bar afterwards. Mary Lou Hoover and Charlie Waite at the bar, also. Good people. Mary Lou looked tired. She has been campaigning 9 months for election to the Key West City Commission. The battle over. Enjoying a late dinner. We chatted a bit. As you are aware, I one hundred percent support Mary Lou. A more interested and concerned person I have never met. Ran into an old friend I have not seen in years also at Antonia’s. Mary Ann Westerland. Today is election day in Florida. For local races, today is the day. Not in November. If you are a Key Wester, please consider voting for Mary Lou. Staying with the election for a moment, today is primary day for federal and state offices. I have been supporting Gwen Graham to be the candidate for Governor on the Democratic ticket. A member of Congress, she also is the daughter of Bob and Adele Graham. Bob the former Governor of Florida and a member of the U.S. Senate. Politics is in Gwen’s blood. Tuesday means podcast time for me. My podcast. Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou. Nine in the evening. A quick moving interesting half hour. I tend to rant and rave. Join me. Guaranteed you will not be bored. www.blogtalkradio.com/key-west-lou. A late night ahead. Being a political junkie, I will be glued to the TV for election results. Love the Key West weatherman. Always a quip following his weather prediction. Today and tonight, showers. Following the report…..Free carwash. I close with Trump. Not the disrespect and pettiness he exhibited with John McCain’s death. I did enough of that yesterday. My concern at the moment is the redoing of the NAFTA agreement with Mexico. Yesterday, Trump in effect claimed victory. Similar to his announcement following the meeting with North Korea’s Kim. Not really a victory. Nothing finalized. Many items still to be covered. Whatever, Trump got on the phone in the Oval Office. Seated behind his mammoth desk. Regal appearing. He called Mexico’s President. Reporters present. I will not go into the details. They are all over TV and the newspapers today. Trump looked bad. Though a few points were generally agreed upon, it was obvious a deal was not yet close. Typical Trump. There must always be a victory! A victory he made possible. Trump already made a fool of the United States and himself re the Kim situation. I compare Kim and yesterday’s telephone call to Neville Brand when he got off the airplane in September 1938. He had rushed to Munich to have a face to face meeting with Hitler in a last ditch attempt to avoid war. Chamberlain got off the plane waving a paper. “Peace in  our time,” he shouted. World War II began soon after. Chamberlain bullshitted as Trump has been. Sometimes Trump bullshits himself. Enjoy your day!

CHURCH NUT INTERFERING IN CAESAR'S PROVINCE.....WITH BOTH FEET.
The Good Book says “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Mark 12:17.
There are some who are forgetful of the mandate. Even those who wear the collar and frock. A Catholic priest, for example.
I view such persons as “nuts.” Mentally depraved.
The Catholic Church wonders why fewer and fewer attend Mass. Why many Churches have closed.
Two reasons therefore. The extreme rules of Catholicism and priests who promote non-existent rules.
The “hero” of this story is Father James Altman of St. James The Less Catholic Church in La Croce, Wisconsin.
He frequently attacks Catholics who are Democrats.
Father Altman is anti-vaccine. He believes vaccines are useless and anyone who imposes virus-related protocols will burn in the “lowest levels” of hell.
Father Altman writes in the St. James Church Bulletin that a “vaccine is an experimental use of a genetic altering substance that modifies your body – your temple of the Holy Spirit.”
The Bulletin article warned that it is “diabolical” for anyone to shove or compel someone into getting a shot and making “you nothing other than a guinea pig.”
He also wrote, “God is still the best doctor and prayer is still the best medicine.”
Father Altman spoke at the recent Palm Sunday Mass. He said COVID-19 protocols are “godless” and “Nazi-esque controls.” He called “Democrats godless” and warned they would go to hell if they did not repent.
Father Altman’s Bishop is William Callahan. He apparently has his hands full with Altman. He opposes Altman’s words. However, he recognizes that times are different but that does not give anyone permission to use a religious post as a “tool of condemnation.”
Yeas ago, a Bishop could shut Altman down. Not today. The Catholic Church is equally divided on most issues. A Bishop’s power is not what it was.
The cruise ship war continues.
The bill was supposed to come up today for vote. It would have passed with no difficulty. As Donald Trump might say, the vote was “rigged.” It then would have gone to Governor DeSantis for signing. The signing must be done by friday.
The bill was pulled yesterday afternoon with no reason being given.
A fortuitous occurrence might be the reason why.
Pier B Development is a large concrete dock in Key West. Can handle the largest of cruise ships. The owner of Pier B Development is Delray Beach resident Mark Walsh.
It was revealed in the past few days that Walsh had made a political contribution to Governor DeSantis earlier in the year in an amount just under $1 million. Nine hundred ninety five thousand dollars to be exact.
Whether the revelation of the donation had anything to do with the bill being pulled, I do not know. The facts require additional information.
It has been obvious from the beginning that little Key West was not playing on a level field. Tallahassee was deaf to Key West’s arguments. The cruise ship lines and businessmen were carrying the day.
It is going to be interesting to see what happens between now and friday.
I wrote about Mae West twice in recent days. My second writing mentioned John Wayne. He carried a small part as a villain in West’s first film She Done Him Wrong. I mentioned Wayne would not become a star for 5 more years. It was his performance in Stagecoach that made him a star.
I watched Stagecoach on TV yesterday. The John Wayne of Stagecoach was the same heroic figure we all came to love and respect in his subsequent movies.
It was exciting to watch Wayne and Stagecoach knowing the film was his entry into stardom.
Read this morning that Key West is one of the U.S.’s ten top vacation spots for this summer. Number 6 to be exact.
Does not excite me. Means more people on a small island that already cannot handle the burgeoning crowds.
It continues to amaze me how long it takes to repair hurricane caused damage.
Irma was 9/10/2017. Repairs still not complete. It was announced this week that work was to begin to repair damage caused by Hurricane Irma to Keys bridges.
I was out last night! Dinner with Jean and Joe Thornton at La Te Da. We had a wonderful time!
Jean was out without her crutches. Ankle taped. Moved around well.
Jean and Joe were self-quarantined as I was. We discussed how a year or more of not going out screws a person up a bit. They are past the problem. They have been out every night so far in Key West and that odd feeling is behind them.
I need to go out more.
As to be expected, the dinner was excellent. I enjoyed crispy duck.
Except for one person, I knew no one. Apparently tourists or new Key West home owners. The one person I knew was Tom Luna. One of the most respected persons in Key West. A good guy!
You will recall Tom and Rick Dery in  Aqua’s Dueling Bartenders for years. It was good to see him again. He is bartending at La Te Da.
Tuesday night again. My Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou show. Nine my time. A fast moving half hour.
Join me. Listen to me rant and rave as to my likes and dislikes. Guaranteed you will enjoy! www.blogtalkradio.com/key-west-lou.
Enjoy your day!

IF THE SHOE FITS, WEAR IT
Trump lies. Nothing new. Everyone knows it.
Politicians have a way of saying things which help their reelection.
Social Security and Medicare always an issue.
Saturday (a mere 3 days ago) Trump tweeted his new $4.8 trillion budget would be forthcoming soon. He was clear there would be no cuts to Social Security or Medicare: “We will not be touching your Social Security and Medicare in the filed 2021 budget.”
Nothing could be clearer.
Contents of the proposed budget were revealed sunday. Yesterday, the budget was forwarded to Congress for its review and approval.
The proposed budget contained “steep reductions” in social programs. Included were cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
The “do nothing” Republican Senate has announced it will not hold hearings on the budget.
The Democratic House will, without question. I am assuming the cuts will never become law. It is inconceivable the House would permit cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
The noted columnist Dana Millbank in an Opinion piece in the Washington Times yesterday made some interesting observations. He opened with: “The budget reveals a tremendous fraud.”
The budget was spelled out to the press by Acting Budget Director Russell Vought.
He began with: “Promises made, promises kept.” Cheerfully said.
Now came what was involved from Trump’s perspective. Not. cuts. Actually the purpose was to “remove certain parts of the program, and once those pieces are no longer called “Medicare,” it would moderate their growth with reforms.”
In simplified verbiage, the removed portions would no longer exist so nothing was really reduced.
Difficult to understand! Cut it out, no longer there, so no reduction in benefits! Wow!
Another approach to justification is simpler and equally as strange.
Spending on Social Security and Medicare will be higher because of increasing enrollment. Means increasing costs. So actually no cuts even though amount received by beneficiaries would sharply drop. Ergo, not a cut.
Another Wow!
Vought was of the opinion that “cuts are good government reforms.”
My admonition to seniors who voted for Trump in 2016: Beware. You were misled initially. Don’t let it happen again. Vote Trump out of office!
Millbank made an interesting observation in his column. He was of the opinion that the Democratic primary candidates are missing the point: “Democrats should be shouting this from the mountain tops. Instead, they are bickering over who has the purest form of Medicare for all.”
A lie is a deliberate mistruth, deceitful, and false. Yet the American people continue to buy the snake oil Trump peddles. Wake up! A lie is a lie! Especially when it affects your pocketbook!
My evening last night began with Kate Miano’s birthday party at the Gardens. Big crowd! As would be expected.
Love Kate!
Then to Dueling Bartenders. No Dueling Bartenders. Don’t know why. The bar was empty. Not one soul. Not even Rick Dery.
Drove over to the Chart Room. Glad I did.
Met the new bartender who is replacing John. Jason. Seems to be a nice guy.
I was actually excited because David was there. I have not seen him in at least 2 months. Spent an hour with him. His warped sense of humor always amusing.
There was a woman sitting to my left at the bar. Fiftyish. From Marco Island. She was with what I thought was her husband. Not. Her boy friend.
The boy friend lives in Key West. She comes down periodically to visit him. Her husband remains home on Marco Island. He is aware.
The world turns. Changes. People probably did this 50 years ago. However back then they did not openly brag about it.
Time to eat. Opted for Antonia’s. Nicolle bartending.
Nicolle has now lost 34 pounds. Into new clothes. All excited. I wish her well. Whatever her goal, she will make it.
Today is tuesday. Means Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou. Join me at 9 tonight my time. A quick half hour of Louis ranting and raving. Guaranteed you will enjoy. Does not mean you will necessarily agree with me. www.blogtalkradio.com/key-west-lou.
My daily podcast What Bugs Me Today will be on again today and every day. Join me. A quick few minutes on one topic. Today obviously will be Trump’s proposed cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

Tino time!
Extra/silent actor.
Today 2 pictures of him from the Empire series.
Tino gets to play all kind of characters. Yesterday, a man in a tuxedo. The day before a politician sitting next to a mayor. Today, a beat up run down type.

FLORIDA CORAL BARRIER REEF DYING / FRENCH POLYNESIA REEF ALIVE AND KICKING
The coral reef off Key West is dying. It has been dying. Everyone along the keys is concerned. Groups are working hard to figure out why and remedy the situation.
The coral reef off Key West is part of the Florida Reef. Runs out to the Dry Tortugas and northward along the keys. Consists of 6,000 plus individual reefs The complex is 5,000 to 7,000 years old.
Coral cannot subsist on the Florida Reef.
Coral reefs are dying all over the world. Except for one place. French Polynesia. The coral alive and blooming. Fish life active.
Scientists do not know why French Polynesia is alive, not dying. Scientists are trying to figure it out. Hoping the discovery of any worthwhile information can be used to save the dying coral reefs worldwide.
When I was a little boy, I adored my grandmother for many reasons. Her love one. Her warmth another. Her outstanding cooking.
Old southern Italy preparation she had learned in the south of Italy.
From the time I was 4 or 5, I discovered ceci and fava. My grandmother prepared them often. Taking my age into account, means from the late 1930’s onward I was gouging myself on ceci and fava.
When my grandmother passed on, ceci and fava were no longer part of my life. They followed my grandmother to the grave. My mother never made them. I assume they were just not part of her culinary skills.
Occasionally in my adult years, I would see a bottle of ceci and fava for sale in a grocery store. Always bought a bottle or more. None as good as Grandma’s.
Ceci and fava a mixture of roasted salted ceci beans (generally chickpeas) and favas beans. First soaked, then roasted, followed by a spritz of oil.
The result a morsel to die for. Crispy, crunchy, and light.
Considered healthy. Loaded with protein, fiber, and iron.
Why the ceci and fava dissertation? This past weekend I found a package of them at Publix. Labeled Crispy Favas + Peas. In a blue plastic bag. A product of The Good Bean Company.
I pigged out. Have to return to buy several bags this time.
I recommend ceci and fava. A delight!
Key West is a drinking city. I go out rarely these days because the doctor says no more booze. Due to my pancreatitis attack several months ago. No fun being with a crowd imbibing and you are not.
Did go out last night.
Began with Dueling Bartenders at Aqua. Rick Dery a terrific singer!
Ran into Mary at the bar. I have not seen her for a month. Because I do not go out with the same frequency I did. It was good to see her again.
Rick has a sense of humor. I had mentioned I lost one of my credit cards. Then located it. It had been sitting on the kitchen table. I passed by the card several times over 3 days before seeing it. I ate at the same table 3 days running also.
Old age.
Anyhow, Rick said, “I lost my glasses because I couldn’t see.” Makes sense.
Rick sang an old song. A Marlene Dietrich one. Cannot recall the title. Rick’s professional career has taken him to many countries and caused him to meet many people. One was Marlene Dietrich. They became friends.
Some time after the star’s death, her daughter wrote a book about her mother. Marlene’s life had to be one hell of a ride!
Rick told the story of Dietrich showing up at her daughter’s apartment for dinner. Three ladies. Mother Dietrich, daughter Dietrich and granddaughter Dietrich.
During the course of dinner, Marlene opened her purse and pulled out a pair of a man’s jockey shorts. She asked, “Does anyone want to smell them?” They supposedly were President Kennedy’s.
Dinner with Mary at La Trattoria. Sat next to the lovely Jean Thornton. Returns home to Birmingham tomorrow for Christmas. Returns with husband Joe day after.
Jean introduced me to her friend Pat Benson. Pat from mid California. Has been visiting Key West for years. Looking to buy here.
As usual, enjoyed Carrie. Always personable and knowledgeable.
Homelessness a national problem. Key West part and parcel of the problem.
Many years ago, a federal court dictated that if a municipality did not want the homeless sleeping on the streets, the municipality had to provide some sort of shelter for them to sleep in.
Key West immediately complied. Not necessarily as a do gooder. Rather to keep the homeless from spending their evenings in the best neighborhoods and in tents running on U.S. 1 along side the golf course.
Key West constructed a tent city for the homeless. Large well framed tents, showers, toilet facilities, etc.
Over the years a further controversy has developed. The tents are located on County owned land next to the County Jail. The Sheriff has wanted the land for expansion of his facilities. Court proceedings galore.
A hopefully “final” decision reached. Things finally looking good. The homeless would be moved to new and better facilities.
The “final” decision not so final as it turned out. Problems still exist. The homeless continue to spend their nights in tents on County land.
The City of Key West Fire Department got involved. The Fire Marshall said too many beds. The facility not safe for evacuation purposes in case of fire or other emergency. The Fire Marshall eliminated 20 beds.
The facility is rarely full. The homeless tend to hurry to it on cold or wet evenings. Now all will not be able to be accomodated.
The problem continues.
Today is tuesday. Means my blog talk radio show tonight. Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou. Nine my time. Join me. Trump guarantees the show to be an enjoyable listen. www.blogtalkradio.com/key-west-lou.
Trump keeps screwing around and Russia has gotten stronger. Putin a fox, Trump a chicken. Putin always beats Trump at what ever occurs.
The trade wars have pushed China into the arms of Russia. They are “becoming buddies.” Yesterday, Russia and China proposed the U.N. lift some U.N. imposed sanctions off North Korea.
Trump says not the time.
Under U.N. rules, the U.S.’s 1 vote is enough to block such a move.
The past couple of weeks, Kim Jong Un has been threatening  a “Christmas gift” to the United States if the the U.S. fails to come up with certain concessions North Korea seeks. Note that in spite of 2-3 visits between Trump and Kim and a “love affair,” nothing has happened. A situation where talk has turned out to be cheap.
Trump does not appear concerned.  Says he would be “disappointed” if Kim did anything. Trump’s attitude: “We’ll take care of it.”
Since their face to face meetings, Kim has not acted as one seeking friendship. He has engaged in 13-14 missile tests. The last 2 of concern. Each having the capacity to reach the U.S.
Christmas less than 2 weeks away.
Wall Street believes the stock market is on the verge of a “melt up.” Would be good! However, it depends on some sort of resolution of the U.S./China trade war.
An agreement is pending that would only “minimally” solve the many problems involved. Many consider the deal a poor one. A deal arrived at based on political expediency.
The deal sucks. If signed, would it move the stock market further upward? It would be wrong if the motivating factor is the agreement being bantered about at the moment.
Enjoy your day!

ANTONIA TRIFECTA
Spent yesterday writing. Rewrote 2 chapters of Growing Up Italian. Will I ever be satisfied and complete the book?
My house is being painted. Got a look following the second coat after I left the house on my way downtown. Cleans up good!
My first stop was Aqua for Dueling Bartenders.
Usually crowded with locals. Not last night. Total patrons 3, including me.
The best bargain in town! Rick Dery and a guest singing. The entertainment free. Goes with the price of the drinks.
Rick was especially good last night.
Dinner time. I made my way to Antonia’s.
Nicole bartending. Almost did not recognize her. She has lost 30 pounds in 3 months. KETO diet. A different appearing woman.
Another 30 to go. She will make it. She was gushing with enthusiasm.
The title of today’s blog is Antonia Trifecta. So named because 3 good things occurred while I was at Antonia’s last night. The first seeing the “new” Nicole and sharing her joy.
The second happy occurrence mine.
You recall I lost 62 pounds last year. Not an easy task. As with Nicole last night, I was excited!
The diet was Atkins. I was loyal. It worked.
Five months ago, I got sick. Pancreatitis. Not cancer of the pancreas. Merely a “mad” pancreas as my doctor described it.
Painful! Two months of suffering.
Causes of pancreatitis in order are alcohol, smoking and fatty foods.
Doctor said no more drinking or smoking. I was a 4-6 gin man a night. Smoking bad, too.
I immediately ceased drinking and smoking. The smoking desire has passed. Still miss a drink when out.
The fatty food. The Atkins diet is high protein low carb. High protein means to me fatty foods. Steaks, lamb chops, etc.
My doctor said the Atkins diet probably contributed to the pancreatitis also. He said go on a high carb low fat diet.
I did immediately. As a result, have gained 30 pounds in 5 months. So much for having busted my ass for a year losing 62 pounds.
I cannot keep to the high carb diet. I will be the fattest ever! Ergo, I decided yesterday that I had to add more “fat” to my diet and see what happens.
Last night, I had my first meat meal in 5 months. Lamb chops. To die for! I went to Heaven!
Two down on the trifecta. Nicole’s 30 pounds and my enjoying lamb chops.
The third was meeting the Scarpas. Glenn and Ashley Scarpa. We sat next to each other at the bar. A most enjoyable conversation ensued.
Glenn and Ashley are into 2 businesses. Restaurant and needlepoint design.
Needlepoint is Ashley’s baby. She is an expert in textile arts: needlepoint and quilt making. She and Glenn are in Key West to close on their second needlepoint store. They purchased a needle point design store on Fleming, across from Fausto’s.
The new acquisition has been an established business in Key West for 42 years. Named Needle Point Designs. The recent owner Julie Pischke. Julie will remain as operator of the store. Ashley will oversee from her Boca Grande home.
The Scarpas are also in the restaurant business. Big time! Own 2 Italian restaurants in Florida. Lakeland and Boca Grande. Lakeland is called Scarpa Italian, Boca Grande Scarpa Coastal.
Both restaurants top shelf.
Glenn’s Dad was born in Italy. The family originates from the Salerno area. Cooking first began from his grandmother’s basement in her New York City home. Glenn and Ashley introduced the Italian cooking to Lakeland and Boca Grande.
Both restaurants retain some of the grandmother’s dishes from New York City.
Interesting, enjoyable people.
A great Antonia evening! What more can I say!
My diet problem not sufficiently corrected when I left Antonia’s. One meal fine. Needed some more “fats.” Stopped at Publix on the way home.
What a thrill. Just buying things I have not eaten in several months. Cheeses, cold cuts, rib eye steak, etc. I was like a kid in a candy store!
I hope I can handle the protein. Time will tell. I don’t want to get heavy again. Nor do I want another attack of pancreatitis.
Tonight, Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou. Another crazy week. I will have a lot to rant and rave about. Especially, Trump.
Join me at 9 for a quick moving and interesting half hour. Guaranteed you will enjoy. www.blog talkradio.com/key-west-lou.
Trump will be on the air tonight, also. TV and radio. He is speaking at a rally in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
The House Judiciary committee is scheduled to vote 2 articles of impeachment this morning.
Pennsylvania is critical in the 2020 election. Trump won the State by a small margin in 2016.
Have to give Trump credit! He will be charged with 2 articles of impeachment this morning and come out swinging tonight in Hershey. Guaranteed to be a wild man!
On this day in 1898, the Treaty of Paris was signed formally ending the Spanish-American War. The U.S. acquired the Philippines, Puerto Rico and Guam as a result.
There is a significant Key West connection to the War. The Battleship Maine was initially docked in Key West when sent to Havana. The trial to determine the cause of the explosion was held in the Custom House in Key West. Many of the U.S. sailors killed in the explosion are buried in the Key West Cemetery.
The Key West Lighted Boat Parade saturday night beginning at 7. An outstanding event each year!
Boats small and large are decorated like the outside of people’s homes. Partying on each boat, of course.
The high today is 80. The weather will be on the warm side saturday night. A light jacket or sweater will be required on the boats.
I have done several Christmas Boat Parades. Not planning on it this year.
I recall one parade when it was sooooo cold! I had pajama bottoms, long pants, shirt, sweatshirt, a heavy winter jacket, gloves and a hat. I was still cold!
Harry Truman loved Key West and Key West loves Harry Truman.
Truman left Key West on this day in 1951 after a one month vacation. His last as President. However, he promised to return the following March when he was no longer President. He actually returned many times.
China is closely monitoring U.S. Air Force activity in the South China Sea.
What does Trump expect. He has defecated on China, embarrassed China, and caused them financial problems. Just as he is responsible for midwest farmers hurting economically and certain manufacturing businesses closing. All because Trump was going to show Xi who was the tougher guy.
I am concerned Trump is pushing too far. Asians are not accustomed to capitulating. It is a “face” thing. And they do not forget. They have memories like elephants.
Japan bombed Pearl Harbor because Roosevelt imposed an embargo which deprived Japan of 90 percent of its oil supply. Is Trump doing any different with China? Only the product(s) sanctioned are different.
Two days ago, a Houston police sergeant was shot and killed. A young lady had called in to say her boyfriend was abusing her and he had 2 guns. One of the guns killed the sergeant.
Texas’ 2 U.S. Senators were saying to the Houston Police Chief how terrible it was, something should be done, etc. Senators Cruz and Cronyn. Condolences apparently were also received from Senator McConnell.
The Police Chief expressed himself in no uncertain terms when speaking to Cronyn. Following his comments.
“I’m burying a sergeant…..because they don’t want to piss off the NRA.”
“I don’t want to hear about how much they support law enforcement…..”
“Do something…..you’re either here for women and children and our daughters and our sisters and our aunts or you’re here for the NRA.”
“Whose side are you on? The gun lobby or children getting gunned down every day? Who are you coming to work for?”
Cronyn responded, “Unfortunately, legislation like this falls casualty to impeachment mania. The Chief, “Don’t tell me…..it’s all about impeachment. Because you brag every day, you and McConnell, about getting judges confirmed.”
Cornyn did not respond. The NRA has not commented.
Enjoy your day!
