The last night of the London season was 25 July, the ballets being 'Papillons', 'La Légende de Joseph' and 'Petrushka'. The ovations were loud and long, and the dancers brought Sir Joseph Beecham before the curtain and gave him a gilt laurel wreath.... 'Overwhelming demonstration of farewell to Karsavina,' wrote Ricketts in his Journal that night: and to Gordon Bottomley he summed up, 'The ballets have been admirable and have made up for the loss of Nijinsky....'
