A Right angle gearbox is used to transmit Rotary motion in 90 degree to the axis of the rotation. The above gearbox has a Planetary Gearbox is responsible for the reduction in the rotation and after reduction the input is given to the Right Angle gearhead which transmits the motion at 90 degrees.

In this Right Angle Reducer, three output shaft gets powered by single input where the inline shaft rotated clockwise and the other two 90 degree shaft rotated anti clockwise due to the Bevel gear arrangement in between the right angle gearhead. The Reduction ratio available in this Gearbox is 1:1 to 1:200 and the Torque range starts from 44Nm to 1390 Nm.

Rack and Pinion can be directly coupled with Right Angle Gearbox to convert Rotary Motion into Linear Motion. SMD has introduced new Rack and Pinion Series with Gearbox where Rack Module is 1.5 and its length is 100 mm. The Pinion is coupled to SMD Right Angle Gearbox SS42 hence through which input is provided. The Right Angle Reducer can have ratios between 1:1 and 1:100. The nominal output torque of this Gearbox is 13.7 Nm. This Gearbox is a light Weight which weighs only 1 kg. The Rack is coated with black oxide coating to prevent rusting. What is Backlash?

Backlash refers to the angle that the output shaft of a gearhead can rotate without the input shaft moving. Backlash arises due to tolerance in manufacturing; the gear teeth need some play to avoid jamming when they mesh.  Backlash is clearance between mating components, sometimes described as the amount of lost motion due to clearance or slackness when movement is reversed and contact is re-established. In short it is a clearance between two teeth’s mating.  Backlash is present in any mechanical system where the driving member is not directly connected to the load. The most common case occurs with gears, where the loss of contact between teeth at motion inversion causes a backlash gap to open.

Every type of gear has to deal with backlashing. Backlashing is very necessary for gear’s smooth functioning, only the manufacturer needs to minimize its timing so they can prove themselves more efficient than other competitor.
