Last song I listened to: well this isn't saying anything about me because I'm not even all the way through it and I've never heard it before this, but Disorder by Third Eye Blind I guess? Before that...uhh. Trying to remember. I think Halo by Starset, which is a lot more representative. (Hey, is your blog title from Perfect Machine by the way?)

Currently reading: ...literally just last night I was hoping nobody would ask me this BUT I'LL BE A GOOD SPORT: I'm unfortunately reading Centaur Aisle by Piers Anthony. In fact I'm trying to read all of the Xanth novels in order. I think I don't even like them at this point? But I did read them as a kid and I have this inexplicable urge to go back through them and see what they look like as an adult. It's not good so far, though I gotta say this book is an improvement over the first three...? nOT THAT THAT'S A HIGH BAR!! BUT STILL. In my defense I'm also currently reading all the Discworld novels in order because all things in balance et cetera and I recently finished Soul Music, which slapped super hard.

Currently watching: Yeeeaaah my ADHD doesn't like watching things. I have not currently watched something since like 2020 and even then I didn't finish it, so...on that technicality, I guess Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance? ...sort of. It's as close to an answer as I'm gonna get.

Current obsession: I gotta finish decorating this house in FFXIV or I'm gonna screech a little. I have had it for over a year now and not done shit with it. But I'm almost done! Also RimWorld, Terraria with the Calamity mod, and I really want to make some cinnamon rolls with brioche dough at some point soon here.

After all, if you can’t also be your lover’s best friend and special sidekick, what’s the point of your relationship?

Blood, Love, Fear and Humble (for both)

BLOOD. -What types of injuries has your muse sustained? What was the worst?

R: “The physical injuries that I’ve endured in my life are fairly few, and mostly minor. Mental injuries, on the other hand, not so much. Velen has always warned us of the costs of our existence, the perpetual fear and life on the run, and the loss of my parents besides... Some days it is hard. Some days, especially when I question the validity of my work with the Alliance, I teeter on the edge of a very dark place. It is truly through the grace of friends that I can balance on and, eventually, walk away from it. Some days I feel like Chromie and Jez are the only lights in my life, but they keep me going all the same.”

C: “I was pretty lucky growing up. Sure, I suffered the normal scuffs and scrapes any kid does in the Undermine, especially a kid whose parents are engineers, but I got by. Honestly, the worst wound I have - the only one I never got the scar magically removed of - was when Fraudy stabbed me to try and get me to leave her alone. I... It reminds me of what could be, and where I’ve come from, and what I’ve lost. In a way it’s like my key tattoo, but in reverse - if I see myself as the key to my own problems, the scar reminds me that I could just as easily go a darker path if i don’t keep myself level-headed.”

LOVE. -Does your muse have a “special someone”

R: “It is... a very open ‘secret’ that Chromie and I are dating. What isn’t as well known is for how long we’ve had this dance between the two of one of us making a small move, the other replying in kind, and the first stepping back out of fear and shyness. And yet, when I think of the last month or so with her, of all the things we’ve learned about each other, the laughs and jokes that we’ve shared, the... *ahem* Well, I certainly know that I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the multiverse. Maybe the waiting and the shyness and the worry was necessary for our love for each other to be this fierce and passionate and wonderful. And maybe, hopefully, she’ll... ah! I am rambling again.”

C: “Nah. Not anyone that I could be interested in where it wouldn’t be a big conflict of interest. Light knows I find Lulubelle attractive, but that’s the last thing I need, for the Council to consider me making her Second to be a a nepotism thing - she has enough issues of her own to deal with. I’d honestly really like a long-term ‘thing’, but... it doesn’t seem to ever work out for me. Either everything is a short-term fling for a couple of decent nights of fun (or not-so-decent, if you count some of the guys I slept with back at the Undermine), or something I really shouldn’t get myself into. Maybe there’s someone out there in that great big multiverse for me, but who knows where he or she might be?”

FEAR. -What are your muses biggest fears?

R: “Not being good enough for the people that I love and care about. You would think that, as much as i have lost in my life, it would be to lose my new friends and loved ones, but I have dealt with loss so regularly that it has almost become rote. Beyond that, I understand the riskiness of the professions of everyone around me - much like myself, we all understand the risk we put ourselves into, and have come to terms with that. I could eventually come to terms with losing Jezriyah or Chromie, after a time... but to disappoint them? No. The idea scares me more than Sargeras ever freeing his imprisonment.”

C: “Death. Look, I know, it’s passe, I’ve come back from it, all that jazz. I get it. But I am always worried about the idea that I haven’t done enough, y’know? I want to leave my stamp on this hunk of rock, make sure that no one ever forgets the name Calculine Sparkdrive. The idea of actually dying - no soulstones, no resurrection, no tricks, no nothing - without having ensured that? It’s what drives me. It’s what keeps me running at full throttle as much as I can.”

HUMBLE. -How does your muse handle praise?

R: “Ah, I... Not well, if I am honest. Certainly, I do maintain an external demeanor that helps shield it, but the more I care for and respect someone, the more of a giddy, excited mess I become on the inside. To be commended or praised by Jez or Velen makes me weak in the knees, and to be praised by Chromie - especially in the bedroom? There aren’t words in common or draenei to describe how unnervingly happy it makes me. Sometimes I wonder if she knows, given how often she... well, that’s between us, really.”

C: “Usually I deserve it, so it is what it is. It’s rarer than it should be, because people are so quick to dismiss a woman, and even quicker still to dismiss a goblin and a warlock. I have it a bit better than Lulu, who has to deal with her brainless brother’s reputation, but still, you’d think that people would base things off results. If I hear ‘oh, that was really good for a goblin woman!’, I might actually start stealing souls like everyone is scared warlocks are want to do.”
