Program announcements for next season. Team Japan and Team Korea
Mai Mihara
SP - Grief, by Tony Ann, choreo by Misha Ge
Twee music isn't exactly what I wanted for Mai but I trust her to serve nonetheless
Wakaba Higuchi
SP - Dune OST, by Hans Zimmer, choreo by Jeffrey Buttle
FS - Nature Boy, by AURORA, choreo by Shae-Lynn Bourne
The SP is GOOD. Guaranteed crowd pleaser ala Lion King or Wakabond
Rion Sumiyoshi
SP - Un homme qui me plaît (Love is a funny thing), by Francis Lai, choreo by Misha Ge
Hype hype hype now that's outside the box and I can't wait to see it
Yelim Kim
Keeps both her programs!!! We get to see Ladies in Lavender again!!!!
Yuma Kagiyama
SP - Sound of Silence, cover by Garou, choreo by Lori Nichol
Snippets look good but once again Yuma and his music choices...
Kao Miura
SP - Nemesis
Asjsjfjdbshdf kid choose chaos once again
Sota Yamamoto
SP - Split, Postcards from far away, choreo by Benoit Richaud
Benoît is hit or miss but at this point I'm very happy Sota's working with him. That should make things interesting and I like the snippets better than anything else I've seen from Sota.
Koshiro Shimada
SP - Can't Take My Eyes of You, by Shawn Mendes, choreo by Shae-Lynn Bourne
FS - Danse Macabre, choreo by Camille Saint Saens, choreo by Stéphane Lambiel
Once more with the crappy covers. Koshiro could do better.
Yujae Kim
FP - Swan Lake, choreo by Misha Ge
Supposed to be balletic which I do not see for Yujae. Lines and posture are not even remotely close.
Yuseong Kim
SP - Clair de Lune, by Claude Debussy, choreo by Misha Ge
Minsol Kwon
SP - James Bond, choreo by Misha Ge
Oh this should be fun!
Rio Nakata
SP - Arroul/Uccen by the Taalbi Brothers, choreo by Misha Ge
Thoughts: is this bright pink and lavender? How pretty. I love her.
Rion Sumiyoshi(JPN)
Thoughts: that quad toe fall. Do you know how much strength it takes to get up from that and keep going?! She is so amazing, digging her fucking heels in and pushing forward
Kimmy Repond(SWI)
Thoughts: this dress does a much better job of drawing the attention to her legs than the SP dress did.
Nina Pinzarrone(BEL)
Thoughts: she had a cool sliding move during the step sequence. And her spin positions were pretty.
Nina Petrokina(EST)
Thoughts: less of the green color and more of the dark blue color
Back to my original place to post my personal recaps, that no one asks for but I do anyway. ☺️
Unfortunately I have to say the Women SP was a small disaster. 2 clean skaters out of 6 is not good...in a way this is like the motive of the season that the Ladies just don't show consitency...
Queen Kaori saved the SP! Flawless SP! 🥳🥳🥳😍😍☺️
Kaori Sakamoto - She was the one of the two skaters who went clean! (Apart from that akward Lutz takeoff but we don't talk about that, neither do judges so it's fine🙃) Love the program! ❤️ It's so very different from what she usually did. And her skating skills are just to die for. Lightning speed! And the 2A is the best in the business! 🔥
Loena Hendricks - Not really a fan of the program, but she sells it well. I think the mistake would have costed her more but I think the placement is totally fine. I am glad she recovered so well after the mistake! ❤️
Nina Pinzarrone - Who had Nina in 3rd after the SP on their bingo card? Definetly not me. Clean skate at such a huge stage! Superb! 👏I like her style of skating but I do wish it would be less "Benoish".
Hana Yoshida - Such a shame about the falls. Really kept her down. 😥 I don't like the program at all...it's different but it's also kinda boring, very repetitive music, but she has fun and sells is well.
Rion Sumiyoshi - For me Rion sticks out as special. She just has different vibes about her than other Japanese skaters, maybe because she doesn't have the "known" coaches who constantly have top skaters. I especially like her free skate but I also like her SP. I think she needs to emote a bit better to the audience, her basics are good, but the connection to the music could be worked on, I think her PCS would go up as well. Shame about the Lutz 😥 after such a superb combination, this was a bummer.
Isabeau Levito - Talking about disaster, well Isababy had a complete meltdown 😭😭😭 The jumps aren't her strength but that they would let her down so much was surprising. You could see how upset and on the verve of crying she was after her skate 😢 She's not the best in her skating skills or jumps but I think she makes up for it with precision of movement and complex choreography. And she usually is very commited to her snake program, that makes me like her performance though I don't like the music or arm choreography...anyway this event is over for her. With over 15 points even to the 3rd place a medal is very far stretched and considering that the she doesn't have better content than the others, that's very unlikely.
