Max is alluding to the Lucie Clayton Charm Academy, a finishing school for girls in the period of time in which the show was set.

so anyway I’ve been going through some of the very oldest things on this blog in preparation for a sort of birthday post ((because as of tomorrow, this blog will have been active for a whole year and I wanted to do something to commemorate that)) so of course that meant rewatching some Galra-centic scenes from VLD to scrounge together anything and everything I could on Imperial culture, and.... in s08ep02 when Honerva is having flashbacks, showing us Dayak updating Zarkon on the progress that little-Lotor is making in his studies, Zarkon talks of replacing her with “a Dayak” who can remove Lotor’s impurities if she fails in doing so. Now, ignoring the horribly heartbreaking things Zarkon is saying right in front of baby Lotor, this implies something that I definitely missed: Dayak isn’t the name of Lotor’s governess, it’s her title.

#I don't really have a point to this I just thought it was another interesting tidbit about imperial culture #and wanted to share #ofc I've now updated my galra dictionary and I feel like a lil historian rifling through old documents and scouring them for new informatio #also in s06ep01 when we see modern-dayak ((yes the same dayak no don't get me started)) she uses the term ''blood emperor''#and Lotor says: ''no one has used the term 'blood emperor' since before we were a star-faring race''#which is treated as a throw-away comment and literally never addressed again bUT #it fits almost //perfectly// with my definition of ''vroksali''#which was the word I came up with for the term of respect used by the galra before they were united under one monarch #literally comprised of the characters for ''war'' / ''the eternal'' / and ''blood''#look I'm happy about this okay idk I just think it's really cool and it feels like everything's coming together #Ao3 Little Blade #galra history & culture #the author speaks
