My bestie said something similar to me the other day.

Like, dude, I feel guilty every time I eat pork. And I’m absolutely terrified of prion diseases.

I’m just really, really dedicated to my craft. (Writing excessively-ambitious fanfiction that I never finish, and never post.)

Fun related story:

I once ordered alligator at a restaurant. Took one bite - tasted like swamp. Remembered that people dump murder victims in the Everglades.

‘What if this alligator ate a murder victim ???’

That would be like… second-degree cannibalism.

And then I couldn’t eat anymore alligator. I was just thoroughly freaked out.

I think I knew it was irrational, even at the time (presumably food-alligators aren’t just captured in the wild). But I still had to switch plates with my then-boyfriend. He was quite gracious about it.

Relevant additional context:

At the time, I was watching a lot of CSI and CSI Miami.

It was in heavy syndication at the time - there were three cable channels (31, 32, and 39) that pretty much only played CSI.

I had shit all else to do in 2007, so every week, I would scan the TV listings for episodes I hadn’t seen, and then program my VCR to record them at Super-Long-Play speed - up to six hours to a single videotape.

Then, at night I’d watch the episodes back on my 13” TV from 1978. And then I’d rewind the tape and record over it. I did this for about two or three years.

It was so blurry it was basically a radio drama, but I think I saw like 8-10 seasons worth. None of it was in order, but whatever.)
