Mark Cohen (born 1943)

He is an American photographer best known for his innovative close-up street photography. His favourite tools for his signature style is a small flash, and wide-angle lenses. He also takes his photo's secretly and at hip level. He works fast, gets low, and takes the photo before anyone notices what's going on.

“I got a small flash-unit because I really liked the phenomenological effect I would get shooting at twilight. But the main reason I used flash was that it gives you a zone from 2 to 8 feet and you don’t have to focus, and you don’t have to worry about the subject being blurred either, because the flash is a thousandth of a second. So, you get very sharp and clear pictures of your subject.”

Some of his most interesting photos don’t include faces. His photos include close-ups of ankles, socks, teeth, zippers, elbows, and other small details we tend to overlook. Cohen has described his method as “intrusive”; “They’re not easy pictures. But I guess that’s why they’re mine,” he says.

This sustainable urban development is made up of over 30 million square feet of built area and will include a new international business district, world-class shopping, residential neighborhoods, cultural institutions, educational facilities and transportation, all sited in a large urban park along the Han River.

RBI to conduct first OMO for state bonds worth Rs 10,000 cr on Oct 22

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will conduct first Open Market Operations (OMOs) to buy State Developments Loans (SDLs) aggregating Rs 10,000 crore through auction on October 22, 2020 to improve liquidity and pricing for these bonds.

The size may be enhanced in the subsequent auctions, depending on market response, RBI said in the statement.

Abstract:  Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the highest volume chemicals produced worldwide, which is used in many plastic industries. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of BPA on cognitive functions and oxidative stress, and determine whether the naringin (NG) co-administration can modify the effect of this compound on cognitive functions and inhibit any possible oxidative stress in the brain tissue of rats. Adult male Wistar rats were divided into six groups. Group I: control, Group II: BPA-treated rats (50 mg/kg/day), Group III, IV, V: BPA+NG (40, 80, 160 mg/kg/day), Group VI: NG (160 mg/kg/day) alone. Cognitive functions were evaluated using step-down latency (SDL) on a passive avoidance apparatus, and transfer latency (TL) in elevated plus-maze. A significant decrease in SDL, prolongation of TL, noticeable oxidative impairment and increase in acetylcholinesterase activity were observed in the BPA-treated in comparison with the control group. Also, the co-administration of NG (160 mg/kg) antagonized the effect of BPA on SDL and TL, attenuated oxidative damage by lowering malondialdehyde and nitrite concentrations and restored superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione S-transferase activities. On the other hand, acetylcholinesterase activity was reduced in the groups co-administred with NG (80 or 160 mg/kg) and BPA in comparison with the BPA alone-treated group. The present study highlighted the therapeutic potential of NG against BPA-induced cognitive impairment and oxidative damage.
