I have Social media account the one i use for fangirling about Shinhwa and There I post stuffs about Shinhwa as well, it's been there since the last 7 years, during my time manage the account I've seen many new fanaccs appeared but then many of these accounts are no longer actives. Really, they come and go , to the point that I make a bet with myself, guessing how long they could last as SHCJ, how fast their Infatuation with Shinhwa dies. In another hand, My post too got less and less likes/comments because i think my Shcj mutuals are no longer active, and some even quit fandom.

And then there's you, still doing all of this effort and it's amazing for real that you are still not out of love, still willing to spare your free time to Shinhwa when there's probably 'less audience' who cares about your hardworks. Again I say, it's amazing and I can't help but to ask what drives you to go beyond miles like this for a group who I think have no future (and intention) left to go back to the way they used to be? What makes you still love them the same, no matter they've been gone for so long?

Hi, thank you for your kind message. I have to say it made me sincerely laugh. The reason is my other blog blaq-o.tumblr.com, which runs for ten years and it's MBLAQ fan account. MBLAQ's last comeback was in 2015. And in 2017 when some members were in the army and there was really almost nothing, my long time A+ friend (A+ are MBLAQ fandom) got into Shinhwa through Eric and basically "dragged" me with her :D Minwoo charmed me, so I decided to follow this little sun. And after watching Shinhwa18 I slowly fell for the whole Shinhwa.

To answer your question, while I love MBLAQ's and Shinhwa's music, I am fan of the members. And at least few are somewhat active at all times. Compared to MBLAQ, Shinhwa still has many fans. And even MBLAQ has fans who appreciate to have an archive to go to. I'm used to have small engagement, so it doesn't bother me. I build archive for fans old and new, because it's something I enjoyed finding, when I was a new fan. And because it's my hobby. As for interactions with fellow fans, Twitter is still the place to do it. For how long, who knows... both these platforms are run into the ground.

And then, from time to time, someone writes a kind message and I feel like it's all worth the time :)

There are so many things to unpack here. I truly am speechless, truly beyond words. We hate to see him vacuum and hiatus due to his health condition, so we pray for his speedy recovery. We were dead set concerned about his well-being, madly worried about his whereabouts, and happy when we finally saw an update of him being outside his house during Chuseok when someone posted a photo of him visiting a cafe.

And then as payback for fans' devoted love, he gave us THIS DISAPPOINTED BEHAVIOUR? Did he forget just how crushed our hearts upon hearing Minwoo and Dongwan's incident with both happened due to alcohol and he dumbly DID WHAT HE DID?

I'm so lost. Fans have been begging for a group comeback, but just like their failure during the 1st album, what happened to them did help to justify the reason for the long hiatus so fans have no right to demand them a comeback. With the pandemic, the main vocalist's health condition, and even now with news that Eric is soon going to be a father. And so they gave us a sub-unit, subtly hinting that the group as 6 is impossible to have a return any time soon. Still, fans took the news with positivity, saying better than none at all since we really insanely craved for them. But with this shit, I'm curious about whether will this affects WDJ's schedule or not.

For a flashback, Minwoo was set to have his birthday celebrated with an event in mid-July, but then his sexual harassment case happened on July 1st. And then Dongwan too was set to have a birthday fanmeet but on November 1st due to liquor, he picked a fight with SHCJs on Instagram. Also, just a day before Andy was scheduled to go to Gapyeong for a Youtube live, Eric called Dongwan out and disclosed the sour relationship between them. And now we got this. I guess bad shits keep intervening when we are about to have joyous events.

I wish the Rapper line stayed living their peaceful life with the wives, and for them to really take notes, be extra cautious and realize they still have a good image left for them to uphold highly now that their 3 members marred it with their stupid drunk behavior.

I feel bad for everyone, including myself. We really don't deserve to get treated like this after everything we've done during the group hiatus period. We still support them unconditionally nevertheless, but things really going downhill since 2019 and I don't know just how much disappointment we can take.

To quote Harvey Dent, "you either die a Hero or live long enough to see yourself become The Villain”. Is this really gonna be the end of an era for me stanning them? Is this how they end their career? With a long hiatus that painted with nothing but red flags, and red marks? Just when we are this close to celebrating the silver jubilee.

Shinhwa 20th Anniversary - Heart

In the blink of an eye, it is Shinhwa’s 20th anniversary. There are many articles and sites that cover this symbolic year for Shinhwa and Shinhwa Changjo, and I thought – Why not write something about it too? Why not share the connotation of “Heart” and the Easter Egg packed in this milestone year with the rest?

We are officially 2 decades! Although not as uncommon in the western world, Taiwan or China, 20 years for a Korean band is not an easy feat, especially when there used to be an “expire date” for bands in the Korea music industry. Shinhwa is the first band to breakthrough and pave a path for the other groups. It is striking because there are neither precedence nor guidance to lead them this far. As Shinhwa and Shinhwa Changjo continue to make history in the Korea music industry, they demonstrate to younger bands and fandoms it is possible to stay together for a long time.  

For this milestone year, Shinhwa comeback with an album titled “Heart”, which most Shinhwa Changjo would fondly recall as Minwoo’s answer to the question “what is Shinhwa to you?” The symbol of a beating heart accompanied the album and this year’s promotion.

So where is the Easter Egg?

The Beating Heart subtly infuse into the choreography of their title song “Kiss Me Like That”

It took SHCJ a while to spot this Easter Egg because most had their attention diverted to the Kyodeng pairing when Hyesung’s hands went around Dongwan. But when you look at it closely, one would notice Dongwan drawing a heart, and Eric, Dongwan and Junjin making a wave that follows the beating heart symbol of their album. And while all these are happening, the other 3 members, Hyesung, Andy and Minwoo held on to the beating heart.

It was so meticulously planned. And definitely a very meaningful Easter Egg for the SHCJ too.

The 2nd Easter Egg was not as difficult for the SHCJ to spot. A photo released for the 20th anniversary.

And here is the one for the 10th Anniversary.

Because of the filter, it also looked like the 20th anniversary photo was using the Resolver outfit (when Shinhwa debut), but as more photos were released, it turns out to be orange jumpsuit instead.

But what is the significance of this other than recreating the pose of a photo 10 years ago?

The 10th anniversary was the last year before Shinhwa went on hiatus due to enlistment. That year, Shinhwa and Shinhwa Changjo made an important promise to each other – They will return, and Shinhwa Changjo will be there when they return. We will stay together.

10 years have passed since. And when we looked back, both Shinhwa and Shinhwa Changjo have kept to the promise. It is a journey that we will continue walking together as an Orange Family.

The 3rd thing I want to talk about is not so much of an Easter Egg. It is the remake of “All Your Dream” MV.

The most apparent of this to general public was Shinhwa would be able to do such things easily with 20 years of history. But why “All Your Dreams”? Why make the maknae cringed having to redo the scene of being a hairdresser? Early this year was a grieving period for the K Pop world due to some unfortunate events. And amidst all these, I felt like I received a message, one from someone who had been through all and experience much more in life.  

The lyrics of “All Your Dream” tell a dialogue between someone who had lost his/her direction in life, and another, maybe an inner voice or someone who had went through and survive the same.

“Unhappiness came and pain that felt like death But with confidence, I stood up against it and fought Only you can solve your problems You’re not the you of before, all broken down Start (start) get up again (get up) Why are you afraid of living again?”  “Cheer up! Shinhwa is deemed a Legend for being in the industry for 20th year now. But this long journey wasn’t without any challenges and upsetting moments. They faced the threat of getting disband, they went through the pain of almost losing some members, accidents, near-death experiences, mistakes, public backlash, media victimization. The list goes on. But they stick together for a dream, an a belief. 

So that sums up my first piece of writing for Shinhwa’s 20th Anniversary -

What Shinhwa is to us;

A promise; and 

A message.
