okay so hopefully most of my snk tag has now been subdivided into 104, vets, warriors and rba. Obviously there's lots of overlap there, but if youre looking for eruri, jeanmarco or reibert you'll have a much easier time of finding that stuff. I have hundreds of attack on titan posts so inevitably some wont have been tagged (though p much all are labelled snk) but that should help people scouring my blog for their blorbos in years to come at least. Most Bertholdt and Annie art is in the rba tag, Reiners stuff is a little more mixed between warriors and rba

"eren isn't an average person" anon here.
i had to vent, because, after the ending, i've been seeing many weird takes about the point of snk being to show what war can do to an ordinary person, or that everyone would do the same in eren's shoes. when people aren't saying that eren was just a cornered good guy or giving excuses that there was no other way other than the rumbling.
even if i can understand where isayama was going with the ending, i feel he kinda fumbled? i really think the way he wrote it gave the fandom what they wanted the most: many ways to justify what eren did and water down/erase the bad image of eren that the rumbling left on them. i got impressed how showing eren in a slightly more sympathetic light in chapter 139 made many people yell "i knew it. i knew he wasn't the bad guy" at the top of their lungs, others even considering he was redeemed and calling him a hero, since his actions ended up saving his close friends (despite they got in real danger and almost died most part of the last arcs).
the chapter technically doesn't redeem him, but the way it was delivered made many people see eren as "just a boy" again, and that the "bad eren" was completely a facade, because they'd desperately trying to disassociate what they think the real eren is from the things he was doing post-timeskip at every opportunity. people couldn't handle that eren is everything together.
many stuff contributed with that: not showing the consequences of the rumbling properly (post-rumbling); the rumbling not affecting the 104; all the main characters alive crying eren's death and implied to visit his grave; "thanks for becoming a mass murder for our sake" - even if armin was only trying to comfort eren before his death; excessively cute eremin and eremika without a drop of real resentment scenes; ending the original 139 with mikasa thanking eren for wrapping the scarf around her (inviting the readers to remember the good things he did), and associating him symbol with a bird, a symbol of freedom; etc.
anyway, here i am venting again lmao
ps: i swear i'm not an anr enjoyer/er*hisu. i'm just an average ending hater who felt isayama got so close yet so far to deliver something memorable.
You're fine anon! Vent away. I hear what you are saying.
Where I differ is that I don't mind the idea of the ending. I think it does exactly what Isayama set out to do. Concept wise it's not a fumble. If you read the August 2017 BSM interview, that's pretty clear:
I don’t think the series passes judgment on what is “right” or “wrong.” For example, when I read Furuya Minoru’s “Himeanole,” I knew society would consider the serial killer in the story unforgivable under social norms. But when I took into account his life and background I still wondered, “If this was his nature, then who is to blame…?”
But considering the root of the issue, rather than evaluating “what is right” […] I think that’s what Shingeki no Kyojin’s ending will resemble.
Isayama was never interested in establishing right or the wrong. His goal was to write a sympathetic character who was twisted both by nurture and nature to do unthinkable repugnant things. Rather than dictate morality, Isayama's goal was to let reader determine how they felt about it. This is exactly what we've seen in the fandom with people on all sides when it comes to judgment on Eren.
But I do agree that the ending was harmed by the issues that have plagued the series as a whole - terrible pacing, inconsistent tone, and too much emphasis on the mystery instead of the resolution. This series is a case study for "interesting ideas clumsily executed". It all culminated in a speeding train wreck of an ending.
As I write those words, I want to say again, I like the concept of the ending. While the whole "Thanks for becoming a mass murderer" vibe makes my skin crawl, I don't mind the actual events that happened. If the story and the ending had been presented to me as a bulleted list, I'd think it was outstanding.
As far as the ending being embraced by the worst of humanity as a justification for their hatred and bigotry, I don't know what to say about that. On one hand I've often wished Isayama had done more to discourage that or had spoken out against it, but then I think about how it is often the goal of authors to pick at the scabs of social issues and leave them festering and open. This series might have been a gateway for some into fascism, but flip that around and it was also a gateway for exposing it. The series has made me more aware of the issues in my own country and has strengthened my resolve to fight back on things I might have otherwise ignored.
This is long. I hope it makes sense. Thanks again for sharing your viewpoint.

MINORS DO NOT INTERACT
ANTI'S DO NOT INTERACT
(this is your only warning)
fiction is separate from reality, if you do not like my ships, leave me alone. i am a pro-shipper and anti-harassment. i believe in letting people engage in safe coping mechanisms.
let me introduce my f/o's, some i've had since elementary/middle school, and others are more recent ! sharing is fine. i'd love to hear about other's s/i's and interactions with my f/o's. also, some of these characters are aged-up to be my age or a little older (if they are underage in canon).
also i have a /p or /d (dislike) relationship with most of the characters my f/o's are connected to.

I've been following you for years and now you're admitting that you're deceiving yourself (don't get me wrong, I don't mean anything bad) this makes me feel a little confused I always loved and relied on your answers I'll understand if you leave SnK but I suspect it'll get cold soon in LH 132 average was good for me, they could have done a little more emotional love Levihan but I ship them knowing that Levi and Hange don't have romantic feelings for anyone
maybe that's why i'm not so disappointed. I think it would be better if it was released as an episode instead of a movie. It's obvious that Isayama is also supervising the anime because I think he did a good job with some of the changed extra scenes like Zeke's grandparents + when 104. to Eren in paths place, they make O turn and come back. Another personal concern of mine about the anime I hope the anime recreates Levi's monologue well in episodes 136 and 139 especially his comrades don't remove the scenes he saw and romanticize the Erwin Promise thing in 136 😬
Sorry to disappoint, but people aren't infallible. Again, i'm not becoming a LH anti or anything. If you wanna ship it romanticaly it's up to you.
I am kinda done with the anime as a whole so idk what to tell you anymore. :)
This is why it's important to think for yourself instead of seeking answers from others.

The genre of Spy x Family changes every episode and I think thats amazing, like at one point you'll be watching a romance and the next thing you know it's basically a shonen boss battle.

Sigma's Birthday should be May 4th
Lemme explain...
Given that Sigma has no designated birthday I have a proposal for a birthdate (or at least a dedicated date) for him...
The greek letter sigma usually comes in two forms. Uppercase (Σ) and lowercase (σ).
Uppercase sigma (Σ) (below) in mathematics is to denote a summation/sum of a collection of numbers. But, unfortunately, there is no value typically associated with that letter.

Based on a prompt @hanjo-love gave me about her headcanon that Levi and Hange sometimes forget they are communicating through telepathy and just sit there, having conversations in their minds making everyone else freak out. Bless you for helping me with my artist block ✌🏻
Side note: I wish I had recorded myself while drawing the expressions just to see how stupid I looked mimicking them.

Hi! I'm sorry if this is irrelavant question to chap 125 but I just read your meta on Armin, and it brought me confusion about something. You said "In Chapter 104 Hange asks Armin if he got “possessed by Erwin’s ghost or something?”" & "He’s the one that came up with the “reckless” plan to get Eren out of Marley"...I remember in the next chaps Jean said "Eren forced you into the battlefield to destroy Marley's naval forces" so I always thought Eren and Zeke came up with the Liberio plan!
No need to apologize! That’s actually a good question, because, to be honest, I have the same confusion. That arc is so incredibly out of chronological order that it’s hard to parse out. I spent most of my morning reading through the wiki trying to figure out exactly when we hear about Eren’s plan, if at all, and it’s still unclear.
However, I’m fairly certain (but someone please correct me if I’m wrong because I probably am) that in their exchange with Armin in 104, Hange is referring to the plan to get them into Liberio, to actually carry out the “rescue” mission for Eren and Zeke. While it was absolutely Eren’s fault that they had to do this in the first place—which Jean rightfully blames him for at the end of 105—I do believe Armin was the one that came up with the logistics of the mission. His guilty reactions towards the destruction when he’s talking to Annie in 106 seem to support that, though it’s true he would have felt guilty no matter who was behind it. I think when Jean says that Eren forced Armin, I think he was speaking in the more general sense that Eren forced their hand and made them act, and less so specifically forced Armin to do a certain thing.
Like I said, I could be wrong, but to me, there are a ton of moving parts to the plan, and I feel like the intricacies of it all might lend itself more to being a product of Armin’s imagination than Eren and Zeke’s. Basically, they had an idea, and Armin had to figure out how to execute it.
Thanks for asking.

Fic: Der Tragödie erster Teil
Chapter: 2/3
Fandom: Shingeki no Kyojin
Pairing: Armin Arlert/Eren Jaeger
Rating: Explicit
Summary: Armin didn’t know what he was persuading Eren against. A quiet, buried part of him wondered if that was because he didn’t want to.
Helpless hatred—borne of love, in its most hideous form.

tiny sad thought about Armin
~ spoils major plot point of Attack on Titan chapter 84 (anime season 3 episode 18) and some minor, non-plot-centric, details of chapter 104 onward ~
I’ve been thinking a lot about SNK lately, and thinking a lot about Armin :) ♡○o。(*/▽\)
Armin’s probably my favorite character in this series since he’s a much more interesting character than I think many fans assume. I think he’s perfectly poised to become Erwin’s successor, disregarding difference in experience.
What makes me sad, though, is that with his life expectancy certain, he might not have enough time to realize his potential fully. Despite his age he’s already acting as strategist for the survey corps with commander Hange. He’s gained maturity and unwavering discernment. He could fully grow into the responsibility he’s inherited, take up the mantle of Erwin, and probably become the greatest commander if he had the time.
Maybe I’m invested too much in a fictional character but I just want to see him become everything he’s capable of!
