Hyperhidrosis, also known as polyhidrosis or sudorrhea, is a condition characterized by excessive sweating. The sweating can affect just one specific area or the whole body.

Although not life-threatening, it can be uncomfortable and cause embarrassment and psychological trauma.

In this article, we will look at the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of hyperhidrosis.

• There are a number of remedies that can reduce symptoms

What is hyperhidrosis?

The excessive sweating associated with hyperhidrosis is normally most active in the hands, feet, armpits, and the groin because of their relatively high concentration of sweat glands.

• Focal hyperhidrosis: When the excessive sweating is localized. For example, palmoplantar hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating of the palms and soles.

• Generalized hyperhidrosis: Excessive sweating affects the entire body.

Hyperhidrosis may be present from birth or might develop later in life. However, most cases of excessive sweating tend to start during a person's teenage years.

The condition can be due to an underlying health condition, or have no apparent cause:

• Primary idiopathic hyperhidrosis: "Idiopathic" means "of unknown cause." In the majority of cases, the hyperhidrosis is localized.

• Secondary hyperhidrosis: The person sweats too much because of an underlying health condition, such as obesity, gout, menopause, a tumor, mercury poisoning, diabetes mellitus, or hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland).

According to the International Hyperhidrosis Association, approximately 2.8 percent of Americans are affected by hyperhidrosis; that's around 7.8 million people.

For some, hyperhidrosis symptoms are so severe that it becomes embarrassing, causing discomfort and anxiety. The patient's career choices, free time activities, personal relationships, self-image, and emotional well-being may be affected.

Fortunately, there are several options which can treat symptoms effectively. The biggest challenge in treating hyperhidrosis is the significant number of people who do not seek medical advice, either due to embarrassment or because they do not know that effective treatment exists.

Symptoms

Hyperhidrosis is defined as sweating that disrupts normal activities. Episodes of excessive sweating occur at least once a week for no clear reason and have an effect on social life or daily activities.

Signs and symptoms of hyperhidrosis may include:

• Clammy or wet palms of the hands

• Clammy or wet soles of the feet

• Frequent sweating

• Noticeable sweating that soaks through clothing

People with hyperhidrosis might experience the following:

• Irritating and painful skin problems, such as fungal or bacterial infections

• Worrying about having stained clothing

• Reluctant to make physical contact

• Self-conscious

• Socially withdrawn, sometimes leading to depression

• Select employment where physical contact or human interaction is not a job requirement

• Spend a large amount of time each day dealing with sweat, such as changing clothes, wiping, placing napkins or pads under the arms, washing, wearing bulky, or dark clothes

• Worry more than other people about body odor

Experts are not certain why, but excessive sweating during sleep is not common for people with primary hyperhidrosis (the type not linked to any underlying ok to think that primary hyperhidrosis was link2,ed to the patient's mental and emotional sts aa wwate, that the was psychological and only affected stressed, anxious, or nervous individuals.

However, recent research has demonstrated that individuals with primary hyperhidrosis are no more prone to feelings of anxiety, nervousness, or emotional stress than the rest of the population when exposed to the same triggers.

In fact, it is the other way round - the emotional and mental feelings experienced by many patients with hyperhidrosis are because of the excessive sweating.

Studies have also shown that certain genes play a role in hyperhidrosis, making it look more likely that it could be inherited. The majority of patients with primary hyperhidrosis have a sibling or parent with the condition.

Causes of secondary hyperhidrosis

• Spinal cord injury

• Alcohol abuse

• Anxiety

• Diabetes

• Gout

• Heart disease

• Hyperthyroidism - an overactive thyroid gland

• Obesity

• Parkinson's disease

• Pregnancy

• Respiratory failure

• Shingles

• Some cancers, such as Hodgkin's disease

• Some infections - HIV, malaria, TB (tuberculosis)

• Some medications, including some antidepressants, anticholinesterases (for Alzheimer's disease), pilocarpine (for glaucoma), propranolol (for high blood pressure)

• Substance abuse

Natural remedies

Some alterations in daily activity and lifestyle may help improve symptoms:

• Antiperspirants - deodorants do not stop sweating, but antiperspirants sprays do. Some prescription antiperspirants include aluminum chloride, which plugs the sweat glands.

• Armpit shields - pads worn in the armpit to protect a garment from perspiration.

• Clothing - certain synthetic fibers, such as nylon, may worsen symptoms. Loose clothing is better.

• Shoes - synthetic materials are more likely to worsen symptoms. Natural materials, such as leather, are recommended.

• Socks - some socks are better at absorbing moisture, such as thick, soft ones made of natural fibers.

If these measures are not effective, medical treatment may help.

Antiperspirants and armpit shields are available to purchase online.

Complications

If hyperhidrosis is not treated, it can lead to complications.

• Nail infections: Especially toenail infections.

• Warts: Skin growths caused by the HPV (human papillomavirus).

• Bacterial infections: Especially around hair follicles and between the toes.

• Heat rash (prickly heat, miliaria): An itchy, red skin rash that often causes a stinging or prickling sensation. Heat rash develops when sweat ducts become blocked and perspiration is trapped under the skin.

• Psychological impact: Excessive sweating can affect the patient's self-confidence, job, and relationships. Some individuals may become anxious, emotionally stressed, socially withdrawn, and even depressed.

On average, a person with hyperhidrosis seeks medical help after living with the condition for 9 years. It is important to spread the word that the symptoms of excessive sweating can be effectively treated.

What are some comedic/ funny cultural jokes that happen Greece (kinda like what are some popular memes or sayings \\ like how in the US we say vine references as jokes)?

Omg I was hoping to get this question!! We are very in touch with US memes and we use American memes and sayings very often. About Greek memes, we mostly make them out of Greek classic series and trashy shows. 

We have a show with a host called Anita Pania and “every nut from all kinds of nut trees” (aka weird people) go there. Appearances there include:

the “Star of Sage”  

the “Just Love” man 

the woman who passionately sung “Cobra, you are a Cobra!” 

and many more.

There is another show («Ευτυχείτε») with Katerina Kainouriou as hostess. It’s famous for women calling to have their problems solved. These stories are usually crazy scenarios like “I am pregnant and the father of the child is the father of my husband” etc. We make fun of those stories and also with the crazy astrologist, Mara Meimaridi, who tries to help those women. She is a scammer and delusional but her shade is epic!

We have videos from the Greek Big Brother show, where people had breakdowns about nothing. It’s truly a treasure of trash <3

The phrase “Good afternoon” was established to mean “sex” after the host of a PG-13 afternoon show shockingly said “good afternoon!” every time something sexual was on the screen.

You know how English people say “I need this advice for a friend, not me” or “My friend has this problem, not me”. We do it too and we are self concious about it, so we make fun of ourselves by saying “I don’t have this problem, a cousin from the village, you dont know her”

We are making fun of boomers who believe conspiracy theories and don’t know how to spell. (Iliteracy is a real problem. What we are making fun of is the confidence to post “scientific” nonsense) We immitate them by saying "the government sprays us with chemicals, the earth is flat1!one!1" with bad orthography.

In Greece there was a recent Saint/Prophet, (minor) St. Paisios. He had said something along the lines of “It will be like you live in peace but you won’t live in peace”. And so we take that phrase and alter it to fit the circumstances. For example, “It will be like Friday, but it won’t be really like Friday” - and we put an image of Paisios next to the quote :P

That’s the basic ones. Greeks have a rich (meme) culture so I couldn’t include everything. I will probably add more in reblogs later!

CentSDRを組み立ててみました

オーダーしていたCentSDRの基板が到着しました。いつものようにElecrowに発注し、7/24発注、29日出荷で8/7に到着しました。さっそく組み立てて見ました。

今回の基板には、裏面にシルクでブロック図を描いてみました。ブロックを結ぶ各信号線に合わせて、その信号にアクセスするためのスルーホールランドを設けてあります。基板裏面を見るだけで構成が理解でき、信号をオシロを当てて実際に観測したり、実験のために信号を注入したりできることを狙っています。

I/Q信号はそれぞれ差動信号なので2本づつ。Loも2相信号なので2箇所あります。Loは50MHz以下。4xLoは〜200MHz。MCLKは8MHzの固定です。そのほかVCTCXOの制御電圧(Vadj)や、I2S, I2Cの信号です。SPIは、LCDのコネクタでアクセスできますので、ランドは設けていません。

組み立ては、段階を踏んで、以下の順序で行います。

USBコネクタ 電源供給用のUSBコネクタを取り付け、VBUS=5Vが来ることを確認します。

電源周り LiPoバッテリ用の制御回路を用意しているのですがそれは後回しにして、先にレギューレータとMOS FET、電源スイッチを付けて、3.3Vの電圧が正常に出ることを確認します。

MCUとその周辺 電源がOKであればMCUとしてSTM32F303CBT6を付けてしまいます。書き込みにはST-Link2を使います。(DFUは外付けクリスタルが必要なので、今回の構成では最初の書き込みには使えません) LEDがあるのでまずはLチカを確認するのがオススメです。今回はFriskSDRとほとんど同じ構成なので、そのファームをそのま��使って動作確認をしました。 ファームウェアはCDC (USB Serial)に対応しているので、正常ならばUSB経由での接続と、コマンド操作が行えるようになります。

VCTCXOを付けて26MHzの出力をオシロで確認。Si5351aを付けて、ファームからの制御でMCLK 8MHzの出力が出ることを確認。そして4xLoの信号が出て、周波数チューニングができることを確認。

TLV320AIC3204、そしてスピーカ用ミニジャック、周辺のコンデンサを付けます���

74LVC74を付けて、分周動作と2相信号が生成されていることをオシロで確認。

アナログスイッチTS5A23157、そしてRCフィルタを付ける。ファームウェアが正常に動いていれば、スピーカを付けて、ミキサの入力端に適当にアンテナ線を繋げばAM放送を聞くことができます。

RFアンプとSMAコネクタを付ける。

ファームウェアを流用できたこともあり、ここまではスムースに動作確認をすることができました。

最後にLCDとロータリエンコーダを取り付けます。

FriskSDRと新旧比較してみます。LCDを除けば同じアーキテクチャ、同じ部品で、基板サイズがかなり大きくなりましたのでレイアウトはスカスカです。FriskSDRは、よくあのサイズに入っていたなと我ながら驚きます。

ファームウェアですが、LCD描画のために、コードを修正していかねばなりません。NanoVNAでSPI LCDのコードがあるのと、雑誌でやったLPC-Link2受信機の画面描画のコードがあるので、これらの合わせ技で作っていきます。とはいえMCUが多少違うので調整が必要です。詳細は省きますが、I2C(DMA)との干渉で半日ハマりましたが、無事に動かすことができました。I2Sの全二重動作(DMA)と、LCDのSPI(DMA)もうまく動いています。あとは、ロータリエンコーダがスムーズに動かせるよう外部割り込みで動作するよう作り直して、各種操作ができるようコードを手直ししています。作業にはお盆の二日間を要しました。

基本的な画面構成と操作体系は、LPC-Link2で作った受信機とほとんど同じです。あちらはマルチコア、こちらはシングルコアですが、動作を見てみると、FFTの画面更新レートは結構な速さが得られているようです。音声に合わせて躍動する感じが良いです。負荷を見てみると、DSP処理には15%程度しか要しておらず、残りはFFTと描画処理に使っています。

いろいろと動作確認をしてみました。

上限の周波数は52MHz程度まで受信できるようです。この限界は74LVC74の動作速度のようで、分周動作の上限が200MHz程度(データシート上は225MHz)であることによります。

無入力でもぴょこっと0Hzの飛び出しが見えます。ADCのDCオフセットがあるようで、リジェクトするようコードを入れたいところです。

IQバランスは比較的良いようですが、チューニング周波数を上げていくと少し逆サイドの漏れが出てきます。こちらも係数補償でキャンセルできるはずです。

スプリアス。Si5351aのチューニングをダイアルでスキャンしてみると、ところどころにSpurが出てきます。スペクトラムが見えてしまうと、どうしても気になります。

クロックの妨害。アンテナを基板に近づけると24MHz, 48MHz付近で、スペクトラムが広がったノイズが観測できます。MCUからクロックの放射があるようです。一方、アンテナ無しでは微弱で済んでいるので、基板内の分離は良いようです。

USB CDCを接続状態にすると、中波帯に広くノイズが出る。配線の引き回しが長いので影響が出やすいようだ。

Tom was with friends and family at the Shoreditch House tonight and Z tweeted:  When people don’t directly ask you to go somewhere you didn’t wanna go and they also know you didn’t wanna go, but you still feel a way.

Several videos were posted by fans of Z sitting with Tom and his grandparents at a restaurant/bar at the hotel where they’re staying.

According to a fan, “So as far as I can tell from the two hours they spent in the hotel, they sat next to each other for a really short time. They even had two different tables. Z was at the table with Jacob and two other guys, while Tom was w/ his grandparents, Harry and another guy. While they were together, they didn’t do anything that could make you think they’re dating."

Tom and Z filmed Spideychelle scenes in NYC.  Their chemistry was insane even with Tom in his full Spider-man suite.

Z and Tom were filmed sparring together and were also spotted hugging in between scenes on set.  This was in preparation for a scene.

After they wrapped for the day, Tom waited in his vehicle while Z greeted fans and then departed the set after Z had left in her vehicle.

There are a lot of pictures of Zendaya smiling while filming the scene with Tom as Spider-man. I hope you all know that if she is smiling in the picture, that is ZENDAYA not MJ. MJ is frightened during the scene, then a little uncomfortable, then concerned. Her expressions during the scene were serious. But in between takes, her and Tom laughed, joked around, danced, made fun of us, waved to other fans, talked to Jon, Harry etc. It was very windy, so yes Tom helped fix her hair at points. It became a problem during the scene because her hair would cover her face. They would cut, laugh about it, and would go again. However, that video of them play fighting and running in place, then hugging, was just them tiring themselves out and picking up where they left off from the other scene. That does not take away from the fact that it was super cute. Zendaya looked so genuinely happy, and it made ME happy to see her so happy. I couldn’t see Tom’s face with the mask on, but I just know he had a dorky smile on his face the whole time. They both were so comfortable with each other.
