Saint Nicholas
In Romania, there is this tradition, that on the night between 5-th and 6-th of December, Saint Nicholas is coming, through the window, in the houses with kids. If the kids have been good, the Saint will leave sweets in their shoes, if the kids have been bad, he will leave a rod for them to be beaten with. Later on, becoming an adult, I still put my shoes in the window hoping that someone close, who cares for me, will leave chocolate and not a whip. It's the night where we should all ask ourselves: Have we been good? Was there anything else we could have done differently so that the people around us, to whom we have interacted over the year, would have felt more loved, or less hurt? If we were to go through this entire year struggle, all over again, where would we have changed our behaviour, for a better outcome? To whom should we have offered softer words, sweeter moments? All these questions asked, sometimes none answered, or maybe some answers are more painful than the question itself. And yet we put our shoes up in the window, with faith in our souls, with hope in our minds...

A modern Traditional Catholic image of St. Nicholas of Myra giving the heretic Arius what all heretics deserve at the Council of Nicea. Arius started the Arian heresy. The legend of Santa Claus is based on him. And you thought coal in your stocking was bad? 😏

I am finally done grading 1000 papers during my winter break.
I can finally enjoy my Saint-Nicholas gift from my boss/school.
Re-watching Not Me is my reward for putting work before holidays. I even graded on Xmas and today...
Never tell me, teachers have it easy during school breaks.

The Secret Giver of Gifts
The spirit of the season has settled upon me at last, though it isn’t snowing and the Grinch actually turned our hopes of a White Christmas into forty shades of green. But still, today I was reminded of a time when our youngest asked, “Mom, are you Santa?” He’d held onto the belief for far longer than any of his classmates. And for that reason, I too, couldn’t let go. And so that day as we drove…

Why Saint Nick's Day is Awesome— Celebrating Generosity with the Ultimate Catholic Meme Collection
G.K. Chesterton once wrote, “It is the test of a good religion whether you can joke about it.” I certainly think that he would have (and hopefully you will) chuckle at the following joke:What do you call Santa when he has no money? Saint ‘Nickel-less’. Today is Saint Nicholas of Myra’s Feast Day. It’s also the greatest Catholic meme day of the year. 🙂🥊👊 Thinking about Saint Nicholas (aka Santa…

Happy Krampus Day to you all!
Tumblr media
Krampus is Saint Nicholas' helper who kidnaps children who were naughty. His annual day is the 5th of December.
Isn't this nice?
