this year’s New Year’s baby is
*drumroll*
SANSA’S EGG!!!
🎉🎉🎉
she’s been nesty and making contact calls for the last two weeks, and last night she was sitting in or on her bowl all night. I was pretty sure she was going to lay today or tomorrow and it’s very hilarious that she decided to start a new project on January 1st. new year new her!
it’s infertile, she’s never had contact with a male. she’s laid blank clutches before so I know what to do to make sure she doesn’t reclutch and get a calcium deficiency over imaginary babies. I’ve dummied it and I’m going to let her lay the rest of the clutch and sit for a bit.
Little girl has a job now! very proud of her!!! 🥰💙
#shhh sharkie#bird blogging#cockatiel#Sansa tiel#she was singing almost the entire six hour car ride home from christmas#I haven’t checked her weight in a while so I wasn’t certain but the behavior pattern was lining up#this is the first one she’s laid since coming to live with me!!!#when she was still at the aquarium she laid 3 or 4 times since I started#she’s very diligent but also good about giving up#she’s on a dummy right now and I have a few extras cause she lays like 2-5 eggs usually#her egg is addled and in the fridge and I’m going to blow it out and preserve it cause how special!!!#baby’s first egg since living with me!!!#if she lays more i’ll preserve the whole clutch but that first one is gonna get a special pedestal

Sansa had a great time visiting my parents’ for Christmas, everyone loved her so much and she was so calm and content the entire time. we especially did great in the car and she was so unbothered!
totally comfy with the travel home and the dogs, and we took a nap together this morning and she cuddled right in! so happy with her this whole trip, everyone was so enchanted by her and she wasn’t stressed at all 💙
#shhh sharkie#Sansa tiel#cockatiel#bird blogging#every time i’m so worried about her but she’s proven herself to be like#the most adaptable bird ever. she gets scared by new stuff but is never overwhelmed#and is so easy to calm down. like she knows i’m safe and when she wasn’t sure about other ppl she’d just come back to me#i don’t have her on the bed at home home cause the living room is her room there#but her cage was in my bedroom when i was in CT so like. that’s where i’m hanging out.#and i had her out but then i was laying down and tired and she just. snuggled right up. so we had a light nap together. it was lovely.#anyway this whole trip has made me a lot more confident for like her entire future#whether she comes with me or stays with someone else when i travel#she’s clearly very comfortable and/or just not super bothered by the whole process#did need to go to bed like. as soon as we got home. but tbf majority of our drive ended up post-sunset#so she just needed to sleep she’d already been in the dark for a couple hours#ugh anyway tldr i have the best lil bird in the world and i love her so much

she doesn’t like when I go into the bathroom so I’ve been bringing her in to show her it’s not a scary place but POV this Creature just hangs out while you use the toilet

love this little lady.
I had to hold her to file/clip her nails (they were very sharp and kept getting caught in my shirts) and she protested the entire time and kept mock biting me and attacking the nail file and clippers.
and as soon as I let her go and told her she’s a good girl she crawled up and cuddled right in like

fun fact: Sansa is fascinated with my earrings cause Bright and Shiny and Fun To Chew, so I have to be very studious about remembering to remove them so she doesn’t try to pry them out.
but side effect of forgetting enough times is that she will sometimes chew at my earring-less ears and be very confused that Shiny Fun Object is not there
