Currently thinking about Jorvik's political situation as a form of procrastination sooo...
As Jorvik is sort of a mysterious island and people from outside don't really remember that it exists, I would definitely think that in terms of foreign policy, it remains isolated and doesn't really interact with other countries. It's not part of the EU or NATO. That would mean though that leaders would most likely be affiliated with the keepers or it would be hilarious if like a prime minister of Jorvik reaches out to other countries and everyone is like "who?" "Does this country even exist?".
But what about an internal situation? Definitely, a leftist country, that's not arguable. But I think it's commonly accepted that it would be considered a Scandinavian country and all of them have royal families so does Jorvik have one? I would think that it might have abolished monarchy not that long ago, around 10 years ago.
Anyway, discussion is welcome. Let me know what you think.

“One of the reasons I like royal watching (mostly the Scandinavian fams) is because they appear to be happy, united families -- not to mention progressive as well. I want a fun grandma like Daisy. I want a selfless aunt like Victoria, a racecar-driving uncle like Carl Phillip, and kooky aunt like Martha Louise. I want heritage, traditions, and the ability to know my ancestors through the diaries and letters they left behind. Are they perfect in reality? Hell no but they appear to have everything I could possibly want and I envy that. - Submitted by Anonymous

Sorry, need to get this out of my head:
In Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer, Magnus mentioned that his family originated from Swedish Kings, or that they are related to the old kings of Sweden.
Now. If he meant from his dads side (aka Frey) then that would make obvious sense, since north mythology is originally from Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
But since he is talking about his mom when he mentions it, we can all assume the Chase family is originally Swedish/ Scandinavian. Which mean: both Magnus AND Annabeth are both related to kings, aka royal/ royal blood.
And my funny theory is that they are related to the one and only Gustav Vasa, who famously slept around with like half of Sweden before he was crowned (and possibly after lmao). In history books, it says that he got 11 kids, but I’m sure that’s just what he knew of lol.
And fun fact: in 2018, a man called Per Andersson, (related to Gustav Vasa) researched and send out a letter to around 24.000 people/families who were related to him as well. Or well, he started when he was 14 years old (now like mid 60’s) but decided to map out the people and send them and their family a letter in 2018.
And according to Wikipedia, there is around 135.000 living relatives to Vasa, and if we count the people who got married into the family and/or lives together with these people, there is about 200.000.
And to think of this, knowing that the first edition of MCGOA came out in 2015, just makes me so happy that Rick probably had no idea what he was writing (or maybe he did, who knows) and then just 3 years later finding out about this is just so funny to me.
So, to think that, if Magnus and Annabeth was real, for them to get a letter just saying: congratulations, you’re related to one of Swedens biggest/ most successful kings, is just hilarious to me. Cuz goddamnit would Percy and Alex and Mallory and TJ and everybody on the 19th floor make fun of them.

Hello anon! 😁 Something weird was happening with your ask, so I made a screenshot of it, hope you see my answer!
Believe it or not, but minutes can make you a heir and leave your brother/sister to despair for the rest of their lives (or vica versa lmao) 🥲 Jk jk, but yeah they just look at who is older indeed! Vincent is 26 minutes older than Josephine I think so he is 4th in the line to the throne and she is right after him. Life sucks...

My two oc's, Freyjr and Kharhad 🥹from one of my original stories that I'm actually running a poll on whether i should write it or another story first go vote now!
The story starts on an island empire, a melting pot inspired by Mediterranean cultures. Kharhad is crown prince of the current royal line, while Freyjr is the daughter of a northern admiral who now serves Kharhad's family. She and her family hail from a northern country heavily inspired by Scandinavian Vikings.
Due to a recent but long history of war between the island empire and this northern country in particular, many who are aware of Kharhad's intense crush on Freyjr are quite disapproving of the potential match, as those of northern descent are often mistrusted or disliked in the island empire.
Kharhad is a beefy nerd who drinks his "respect women" juice daily--and is quite the catch, if only he could stop acting completely awkward and shy and like a bumbling buffoon around Freyjr, maybe she'd notice that he's totally in love with her😭 (she does actually kinda know haha he's not exactly subtle with his feelings 😉). I'd say he has the energy of a himbo but he is probably too academic to qualify as one technically speaking 🤔
They're two of the main POV characters in the novel. The other two are Phasmus, Kharhad's best friend, and Princess Mhessa, Kharhad's younger sister who covets everything her brother has and wishes were hers: His status as heir to the islands, how well liked and respected he is among their peers, and of course, even the affection a certain northern lass has for her older brother 😏
Anyway, if you want to see this story come to life sooner than later pls go vote for it here! (Story idea #2 btw!)

I would love to know more about your thoughts on the Danish Royal Family. Is it that you dont like Margrethe or Fred or you are neutral?
I'm not sure what prompted this but thank you for the ask, nonnie! The easy answer is that I'm Swedish & it's in the DNA of Swedes & Danes to hate one another. There, ask answered!
Okay, no, to be serious. There is this joke amongst the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Åland, Iceland, Faroe Islands & Greenland) that Denmark is the USA of the Nordics & among the Scandinavian royals (Sweden, Norway & Denmark), the Danish have always been my least favourites. I'll post a deeper discussion around my thoughts under the cut & people; remember that these are my personal opinions. I'm not talking facts or trying to be objective here.
Not just the fact that they've done some questionable things (the same could be said for many of the European royals), but it has always struck me weird how borderline worshipped the Danish royals are - especially Margrethe & Mary. It reminds me a bit of the stan culture around some singers & bands where the fans don't simply like the person; they adore them & to the level where you're not even allowed to criticise the person. Then we have Margrethe's approval rating - in a democratic country (Denmark) & its territories (Greenland & Faroe Islands), there is no way someone can continuously have around 80% or higher approval rating.
Up to 2022, I didn't necessarily dislike them & I had no personal issue with Margrethe. The Danish royals weren't my cup of tea, but I found Margrethe very cool as a person & I still do to some extent. There was this public narrative of Frederik, the golden boy, Mary, who could do nothing wrong & Joachim having difficulty finding his role & purpose in the family. As someone who has grown up with Nordic tabloid culture, I assumed it was a Victoria vs. Madeleine situation where the tabloids make a hen out of a feather & try to create drama where there is none. Then that statement around the titles of Joachim's children was published & all the puzzle pieces came together for me...
Now I've seen a lot of people here on Tumblr point towards Nikolai & claim it's all his fault. But that guy has been working as a model under the name of Prince Nikolai since at least 2018. Maybe even earlier, I can't remember. But anyway, the only time his grandma told him off was when he was doing ad work for some car brand & used his royal title. If his modelling career was the problem, Margrethe would have done something years ago & not suddenly, out of the blue, make a decision in autumn 2022.
No, for me, the puzzle pieces all fell together. Joachim struggling to find his place within the Royal House & no one really helping him carve out a position for himself; it being public knowledge that Margrethe favoured his first wife; Marie saying that it wasn't her or Joachim's choice to move to Paris & they weren't happy about it; Marie being painted as the bitter step-mother who wouldn't allow Nikolai & Felix to be with their father & instead, they were kept close to their grandmother; & yeah, the car crash that was Margrethe stripping Joachim's children of their titles a.k.a. she legally changed her grandchildren's names behind their backs without talking to them about it. These are just some instances from the last couple of years that were at the top of my mind.
I've mentioned it in messages to @cambridgemadness @lizisanamimal & @world-of-wales (maybe other people as well, sorry if I forgot to mention you), but to me, it feels very much like Margrethe favouring one son over the other & also doing everything she can to coddle him. It's not just the Nordic tabloids pitting family members against one another. It's very much based on Margrethe's behaviour & her leadership.

Upcoming Tiaras for 2023
Of course the biggest tiara event of the year will be the British coronation but there are also a trio of Scandinavian celebrations and a bunch of weddings to look forward to.
King Charles III of the United Kingdom's Coronation
Tumblr media
King Charles III's coronation will take place on May 6th. There won't be as many tiara events as the last one in 1953 but the coronation itself should still give us plenty of tiaras. There will be the extended British Royal Family of course but there will also be many foreign royals attending. Usually (with a few exceptions like Queen Sālote Tupou III of Tonga) other monarchs do not attend so expect to see the heir or their spouse wearing the biggest and most historical tiara they have access to. I have a lot of posts planned for the lead up to the big day but I'm going to wait until we're a bit closer to start actually posting them.
Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan & Rajwa Al Saif's Wedding
Tumblr media
Crown Prince Hussein and the future Crown Princess Rajwa will be married on June 1st. I expect a decent royal turn out more in line with Prince Hamzah and Princess Noor Asem's wedding in 2004 than any of the other more low key weddings in the family. I'm hoping she will wear the Arabic Scroll Tiara but the bride's family is apparently very wealthy so I wouldn't be surprised if they gifted her a new tiara.
Crown Prince Haakon & Crown Princess Mette Marit of Norway's 50th Birthdays
Tumblr media
Milestone birthdays in the Norway usually mean a gala event with foreign royals and tiaras but Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette Marit sometimes do things a little differently. In July and August of 2013, their 40th birthdays were celebrated with a music festival at Skaugum where Haakon parachuted in, played with one of the bands, and they all slept in tents so who knows what we're going to see this time around. If they do have a gala event I think this would be the perfect opportunity for Crown Princess Mette Marit to debut Queen Maud's Diamond Tiara.
King Carl Gustav of Sweden's Golden Jubilee
Tumblr media
King Carl Gustav is celebrating 50 years since he ascended the throne and there will be a lot of different events celebrating the jubilee throughout the year but the one we're expecting tiaras for is the gala dinner at Stockholm Palace on September 15th with foreign royals in attendance.
Prince Christian of Denmark's 18th Birthday
Tumblr media
They haven't announced a date yet for the gala dinner celebrating Prince Christian's coming of age yet but his birthday is on October 15th so it should be around then. I'm especially excited for this event after seeing so many of the younger generation of royals turn out for Princess Ingrid Alexandra's birthday last year. The Danes go big for milestone birthdays so expect a lot of tiaras.
Some other possible tiaras
Wedding of Princess Azemah of Brunei & Prince Bahar Bolkiah
Wedding of Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg & Nicolas Bagory
Wedding of Princess Iman of Jordan & Jameel Thermiotis
Wedding of Princess Theodora of Greece & Matthew Kumar
Wedding of Infanta Maria Francisca of Portugal & Duarte de Sousa Araújo Martins
18th birthday of Infanta Leonor of Spain, Princess of Asturias
Tin (10th) Jubilee of King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands
Tin (10th) Jubilee of King Philippe of Belgium
Which tiaras are you most excited about in 2023?
