via terireeves BJJ jokes! First full rolling session since the stress fracture. It was AWESOME thanks to this guy. YES, he is a black belt beast, BUT he takes amazing care of the people he is putting gently to sleep ;). I look forward to it every time. I used to dread working out. I did it as punishment. Sometimes for overeating, sometimes because I didn’t feel good about myself in general. I started every day in a negative space. Until I discovered jiu jitsu (and learned that I was beautiful in EVERY iteration of my physicality). Jiu jitsu gave me a reason to take care of my body. I wanted to be physically (and mentally) healthy because I loved the way it felt to train. When I’m “flowing” on the BJJ mats my mind gets clear of the noise, the tension in my body releases, I feel energized, focused, and strong. I’m also learning practical self defense tools. And I’m with my BJJ family. On the days I get to train, I wake up excited.
