Hello! I'm creating a Romanov roleplay so could you give me a list of members and friends of the Romanov family, and others (Standart officers, Bolsheviks, etc.) for people to roleplay? That would be very helpful since I know I'm going to accidentally miss some characters (^^”).
Hi! These are some people who were involved with the Romanovs:
Friends:
Anna Vyrubova—quite possibly Alexandra's dearest friend. Typically viewed as a bit of a simpleton or a cunning spy--the reality is probably that she was neither. Also very attached to Rasputin.
Lili Dehn—another of Alexandra's friends, a lady-in-waiting. Also close with Nicholas and the children; was with Alexandra when Nicholas abdicated.
Elizabeth Naryshkina—the elderly mistress of the robes.
Sophie Buxhoevedon—lady-in-waiting, affectionately known as "Isa" (also spelled "Iza").
Catherine "Trina" Schneider—also attempted (unsuccessfully) to teach the Romanov sisters German. Taught Russian to Alexandra. Lutheran.
Grigori Rasputin—infamous. Especially intimate with Alexandra, also a sort of mentor for the daughters. Killed in 1916.
Kolya Demenkov—Alexei’s friend.
Gleb Botkin & Tatiana Botkina—the children of Evgeny Botkin.
Sofia Orbeliani—Alexandra’s friend and an invalid. Died in 1915.
Countess Anastasia “Nastenka” Hendrikova—family friend.
Family:
Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna—OTMA's grandmother. But a bit frosty in her relations with Alexandra.
Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna—Nicholas II's sister. Often the grand duchesses spent Saturdays with her.
Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna—Nicholas’s sister. Her family was known as the Ai Todories due to their estate. Her daughter Irina especially was close to the daughters. (Irina’s husband, Felix Yussupov, was one of Rasputin’s assassins.)
Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich—one of Nicholas’s favorite cousins, and once considered a possible groom for Olga. Under the care of Elizabeth Feodorovna. One of Rasputin’s assassins.
Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna—Alexandra’s sister. Became a nun after her husband Sergei’s assassination in 1905; sent coffee and chocolate to the family during imprisonment. Murdered by the Bolsheviks.
Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich—Nicholas’s brother. Married morganatically and exiled. Saw Nicholas before Nicholas’s departure to Tobolsk. Also murdered by the Bolsheviks.
Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich—commander in chief of the Russian army during WWI until Nicholas II took over. Not liked by Alexandra due to his dislike of Rasputin.
Tutors/Staff:
Pyotr Vasilievich Pyotrov—the Russian tutor, known as "PVP."
Pierre Gilliard—the French tutor, especially close to Alexei. Often called "Zhilik" or "Monsieur."
Sydney Gibbes—the English tutor, often known as "Sig."
Sofia Tyutcheva—Known as "Savanna," OTMA's unofficial governess when they were young. Outspokenly against Rasputin, and not popular with the Romanovs' other friends.
Margaretta Eagar—OTMA's Irish governess, dismissed in 1904.
Anna Demidova—lady-in-waiting who accompanied the family and was eventually killed with them. Known as “Nyuta.”
Aloise (Alexei) Trupp—footman who was killed with the family; unique in that he was Latvian, and Catholic.
Ivan Kharitonov—cook killed with the family.
Leonid Sednev—companion of Alexei during captivity, eventually sent away by Yakov Yurovsky.
Eugene Botkin—doctor (primarily Alexandra’s). Killed with family.
Nagorny and Demenkov—Alexei’s “sailor nannies.” Only Nagorny continued on with the family to Tobolsk.
Standart Officers of Note:
Pavel Voronov—Olga's love interest in 1913. She wrote of him as "S." in her diaries.
Alexander Konstantinovich Shvedov—Also Olga's love interest in 1913, took place before Voronov. Referred to as "AKSH" in diaries.
Viktor Zborovsky—Anastasia's crush. She also exchanged letters with his sister Ekaterina "Katya" in captivity. Nicholas's favorite tennis partner.
Patients during WWI/Nurses, Doctors:
Dmitri Shakh-Bagov—Olga's love interest. Known as "Mitya."
Dmitri Malama—Tatiana's love interest. Gave her a dog known as Ortipo, named after his cavalry horse.
Valentina Cheborateva—OT’s friend and fellow nurse.
Margarita Khitrovo—fellow nurse and friend. Known as “Ritka” or “Rita.”
Dr. Vera Gedroits—female doctor. Known as “Princess Gedroits.” After the tsar’s abdication, her behavior turned increasingly unconventional.
Vladimir Kiknadze—Tatiana’s love interest after Malama. Considered a dangerous flirt by the other nurses and doctors.
Politicians:
Sergei Witte—Served as prime minister 1905-1906.
Pyotr Stolypin—Served as prime minister 1906-1911. Sofia Tyutcheva, Nicholas II, and OT were there at his assassination.
Mikhail Rodzianko—state chairman of the Duma, 1911-1917.
Bolsheviks/Captors, etc.:
Alexander Kerensky—member of the Provisional Government. Oversaw the Romanovs’ house arrest.
Eugene Kobylinsky—commandant during house arrest; nevertheless on good terms with the family.
Vasily Yakovlev—commissar, searched the house at Tobolsk; helped transfer the family to the Ipatiev House at Ekaterinberg.
Alexander Avdeev—commandant at the Ipatiev House.
Yakov Yurovsky—commandant at the Ipatiev House after Avdeev. Orchestrated the murders.
Pyotr Ermakov—one of the executioners, his accounts of the Romanovs and their murder are highly exaggerated and untruthful. Was drunk on the night of the murders.
Ivan Skorokhodov–despite the rumors there is no reliable evidence to support the idea of a liaison with Maria. However, he was really a guard at the Ipatiev House.

One month before GPF, Yuzuru got accident in Shanghai during warm-up. He told Brian "I want going to GPF", skated with injury in Shanghai and NHK, and got into the final 6 skaters in Barcelona.

At the end of the Gala, Yuzuru suggested that Javier skate around one more time at his country's game to thank the audience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Javier said “It was my first time skating in such a big competition in my country and that’s maybe why I was a little bit shocked in the short program when I came to the ice. By the free program I was already expecting it. These guys (pointing to Yuzuru Hanyu and Sergei Voronov) are used to it but for me it was the first time”. “Javi, te queremos! Javi, te queremos!”, the public shouted.

Yuzuru weared a t-shirt in Spain’s national colors, he spoke Spanish, “Hola, Barcelona! Medalla de plata, de Espana, Javier Fernandez!”

Javier does the same for Yuzuru. “He is a born conqueror, he is an excellent skater as a person, I just want to wish him the best luck in the world for his competitions, how great is it he is here with us, I hope you enjoy his skating.”

Two Russian State Duma deputies with the ruling United Russia party were reported dead on Sunday.
The death of 77-year-old Nikolay Bortsov, who served as a State Duma deputy since 2003, was announced by Igor Artamanov, the governor of the Lipetsk region. He died at his home Lebedyan.
On the same day, State Duma Deputy Dzhasharbek Uzdenov died at the age of 57 after a "serious and prolonged illness," Vladimir Vasilyev, head of the United Russia faction, said.
A number of prominent Russians have died in unexplained or unusual circumstances since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
No cause was given for Bortsov's death. He had previously been hit by sanctions from the United States and other Western countries in connection with Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
Newsweek reached out to Russia's Foreign Ministry via email for comment.
Bortsov was one of Russia's wealthiest government employees, with an estimated net worth of $550 million, according to the Latvia-based independent news outlet Meduza. He was included by Forbes in 2021 in a ranking of the country's 100 richest federal workers.
He was sentenced in absentia in Ukraine to 15 years in prison on March 21 alongside 19 other members of the Russian State Duma for voting to recognize Russian-installed authorities in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region.
The Security Service of Ukraine said those convicted were: Sergey Altukhov, Andrey Alshevsky, Olga Zanko, Andrey Anikeev, Grigory Anikeev, Valentina Artamonova, Otari Arshba, Alena Arshinova, Timofey Bazhenov, Zarif Baiguskarov, Nikolay Bortsov, Vadim Bulavinov, Dmitry Islamov, Mikhail Kuzmin, Denis Maidanov, Nikolai Pankov, Yuri Petrov, Olga Pilipenko, Valentina Pivnenko, and Dmitry Pogorely.
The head of Russia's Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin called the verdict illegal.
Uzdenov, 56, was a member of Russia's House Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
"A hard day. Death snatched another comrade from our ranks. Jasharbek (Dzhasharbek) Borisovich Uzdenov, a deputy of the State Duma, the former Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic died after a severe and prolonged illness," Vasilyev said.
Vasilyev expressed his condolences to the relatives and friends of Uzdenov.
"Sensitive, attentive, strong-willed, always ready to help—this is how we will remember Jasharbek Borisovich. He fought for a long time, but, unfortunately, the disease turned out to be stronger. We will miss him very much," he said.
Uzdenov was elected to the State Duma on September 19, 2021. He came under U.S. and New Zealand sanctions after the war began.
At least 20 Russians have died in mysterious circumstances since the war began last February, including Ravil Maganov, the chairman of Lukoil, Yuri Voronov, the founder and general director of the Astra-Shipping transport and logistics company, Vladislav Avayev, a former Kremlin official and vice president of Gazprombank, and Major General Vladimir Makarov, an officer who oversaw the Kremlin's crackdown on anti-war protesters.

Sergei Voronov just announced his retirement and I’m a little heartbroken by it. I have mad respect for his determination and achievements and everything he accomplished was despite the Russian federation pretty much sabotaging him... He was my constant in a sea of train-wreck Russian men. Sad to see him go.

2019 NHK Men’s SP Group 2
Liveblogging some impressions while watching a stream. Tomoki Hiwatashi 64.54 4T (he landed it, but when he put his free leg down, he ended up slipping on his landing foot), 3Afall, ChSSp3, FCSp4, 3Lz3T, StSq3, ChCoSp4. He uses his body well for the choreo and I appreciate that he really commits to the music. I love how he got the audience on his side. He seemed to get tired toward the end and I think it affected the performance a bit, but he pulled through.  Sergei Voronov 88.63 4T3T, 3Lz, FCSp3, 3A, ChCoSp4, StSq3, ChSSp3. It’s not the greatest skate or the most engaging, but he seems to be having fun out there. Kudos to him for being one of the oldest skaters out there still skating. And landing quad combos to boot! Kevin Aymoz 91.47 4T (it almost looked like he would fall, but he saved it with style), 3Lz3T (it looked like he didn’t get much of a running edge out of the 3Lz, but he tacked on the combo anyway), ChCSp4, 3A, FSSp4, StSq4. Little moments I love: The first set of claps after his 3A before the Sit Spin when he kind of squat side-lunges on the ice; the snapping choreo; the various backward hops; and of course the final no-hand cartwheel. It is such a joy to watch him skate. Jason Brown 73.73 3F, 3Afall, FSSp4, 3Lzfall(this was supposed to be a combo jump, so it won’t be counted as valid), ChCSp4, StSq4, ChCSp4. Two falls with a missed quad... It’ll be harder in the FS because he doesn’t have a high base value to help him out against the others. Little things I love: the Russian split into the tiny fan spiral choreo, the sort-of-hydro as the music swells and then fades. His skating is so smooth. It’s interesting seeing Kevin and Jason back-to-back because they both skate so well, but use the blade differently. Jason using deep edges and long lines; Kevin using sharper footwork. Yuzuru Hanyu 109.34 4S (such a huge jump and a lot of speed coming out of it), 3A (fast, easy, and such height), 4T3T (deep knee bend on the 4T; he fit in the 3T well, but the running edge out of it didn’t have much speed), FCSp4, ChSSp4, StSq4, ChCoSp4. He got all his levels! Tracy won’t roast him for messing up his StSq this time. A tiny thing I love: the polished little hand choreo in the spread eagle after the 4S. It looks so gentle, especially with the accompanying peaceful smile. Actually, it’s really interesting seeing his SP after the rest of the field, because the layout of this program is so different. So instead of the “10-15-seconds-of-skating-setting-upfora--jump!, jump, recovery-spin, jump, stsq, final spin” that most skaters do, it feels like “choreo-storytelling, jump, choreo, jump, jump, flurry spin-spin, STEP SEQUENCE!!!, final spin.” Alexei Bychenko 61.97 1A (invalid), 4T, FCSp3, 3Lz2T, ChSSp4, StSq2, ChCoSp4. The jumps seemed to take a lot of energy out of him. The choreo didn’t leave much of an impression on me - I felt like he needed more drama to match up with the strength and story of the music. But as with Voronov, kudos for being one of the oldest skaters still going out there competing!

Some positivity
Okay, real talk for a moment: To my own surprise, watching the NHK Trophy actually did spark joy for me. Despite the judging being absolutely awful (especially to Rika - I really cannot stress that enough - but also to Yuzuru), there were so many beautiful things to be happy about here:
- Yuzuru Hanyu, Rika Kihira, Sui/Han, Kevin Aymoz and Alyona Kostornaia all qualifying for the final - which means I’ll see them all live in two weeks and for the first time I’m actually starting to feel super excited. It’s hard to feel too upset about awful judging when you suddenly realize you’re going to see so many amazing skaters live soon! (Especially Yuzuru - seeing him compete live is on my bucket list, and the main reason I decided to get tickets for the final.)
- Yuzuru not getting injured during the GP season for once. It needs to be said.
- Yuzuru and Rika’s beautiful free skates today. Both of them were so good, just made me feel happy to be watching, and reminded me of what I love about this sport. The two skates of the day for me, definitely.
- Rika flawlessly landing all three of her 3As in the same competition. It was about time!
- Both of Rika’s new outfits. I liked her other ones, too - especially the light blue/turquoise one for the free - but these new ones are also so pretty!
- I haven’t had the time to watch Pairs yet, but I heard Sui/Han were amazing and set a new WR in the short - I’m definitely looking forward to catching up on that!
- Kevin Aymoz’ reaction to realizing he made the final.
- Alyona Kostornaia’s two beautiful performances, especially the short program. I feel like the judges are trying to keep me from fully enjoying her skating - but she really is amazing!
- Alyona becoming the top qualifier for the GPF and almost breaking Alexandra Trusova’s WR for the highest total score. While I can’t say I agree with how Alyona was scored here, it makes me happy to at least know she has a very realistic chance against Sasha. and makes me sadder to know that in a fair world Rika would also have that chance
- Mako Yamashita finally skating clean again!
- Yuhana Yokoi’s amazing free skate.
- Sergei Voronov proving all of those “older skaters should retire” people wrong by placing 2nd in the short progam.
- Boyang Jin still qualifying for the GPF despite a 6th place at SkAm just because so many other men messed up so badly. I mean, that’s just insane.
