like this is like. i keep thinking about the youtube short of the girl who made a tote bag out of the cheap bandanas you can get at hobby lobby and like. she didn't line the bag, she didn't press her seams, and she didn't bother to match the pattern on the bandanas when sewing them up. the comments were full of people insisting on defending her sewing with "oh like you can do better" to everyone who offered mild critique on how she could improve her craft and like... yes??? i could??? very easily??? by lining the bag, pressing the seams, and making sure to line up the pattern???

and it's the same with this depop girlie on reddit asking why no one is buying her shitty lace tote bag. like the reason is that the tote bag is unlined, the materials appear old and unwashed, the ribbons are fuckin glued on, and the seams are visibly unfinished instead of doing a french seam. no one is going to pay 50 dollars for this because the quality reeks of shein quality despite being handmade.

if you have zero fuckin pride in your work and are UNWILLING to listen to anyone trying to help you improve your craft, you are in zero position to be telling other people how to sew and you certainly are in no position to ask someone to give you 50+ dollars for it.

I hate how so many shops now on Etsy just take general product images from other stores and use them in their store front so you have to scour the reviews hoping someone’s posted pictures so you can see images of the ACTUAL product.

And you never really know who the original producer/maker of the item is when there’s 5 other products with the SAME EXACT IMAGE all from FIVE DIFFERENT SELLERS
