You know, with Shein, Alibaba and Temu being so popular, I was thinking that maybe we could make a list of some ethical and sustainable clothing brands. These will be more expensive, but if you buy from them you'll be helping someone anytime you make a purchase. Please list all the ones you know in a reply.

Pact Clothing sizes up to 2X. Sells men, women, and children's clothing. Items are sustainably made and Fair Trade.

Midnight Hour Sizes up to 4X with a few 5X items. Cute goth and alternative clothing. Items are sustainably and ethically made.

Able Sustainably and ethically made women's clothing. Sizes up to 3X.

Svaha Own by an Indian woman. Very cute science themed clothing for men, women, and kids. Clothing is mostly made in India and is ethically sourced. Sizes go up to 5XL

Proclaim ethically sourced bras and underwear and basics that comes in three shades of "nude". Sizes S to 3XL

I want to stress that you can't do everything. This post isn't here to judge anyone who needs new clothes but can't afford an ethical brand. I once had my apartment flood (basement unit!) where the ceiling fell in the bedroom and had to replace everything! Clothing that fit me is hard to find and I think I bought everything from Walmart. This is just for some suggestions and to advertise these other brands.

worst way to start my new year, thanks. i have a lot of things to say about these companies but i'm tired and just keeping it focused to the pin side of things for this one. do not ever buy pins from these companies, literally ALL of them are stolen from small artists like me. if you want to buy enamel pins, check out etsy, and artist's personal websites and shops! (though even Etsy has some bootleg pins that ship straight from china, so tread carefully…)

Every pin I've designed is, thus far, EXCLUSIVE to my etsy. if you find it anywhere else, it's been ripped off! and once these stupid bootlegs pop up, it's basically a never ending game of whack-a-mole trying to get them all taken down...

I hate modern shopping

I hate how we are practically forced to buy clothes online now. I want to hold it in my hands. I hate how cheap on low quality clothes are today. I hate that production rates and profit come before people's wellbeing.

I hate Shein for brainwashing us into thinking a shirt should cost less than $5 when it's been clear for a while that their products are usually chock full of lead and new allegations say Shein is using actual slave labor

I hate Temu for bringing expected prices even lower and selling negative ion (which might protect you from 5G but certainly doesn't help on the radioactive front) items. For selling cheap garbage and trying to tell us they're a company.

I hate Shein and Temu for basically forcing underage influencers to take sponsorships so they can get out of bad financial situation.

I hate Amazon, but not their workers

I hate Etsy, but not their shop owners

I hate modern shopping. I'm tired of the labor violations. I'm tired of the bs and the hoops you have to jump through to find a company that doesn't use child labor.

I hate that pay is bad enough that people are forced to work for people like Shein, Temu, Amazon, etc.

I hate that we aren't paid enough to buy even mediocre quality products. I hate that about ~19 people for every 10,000 in America is homeless and 40% of homeless people have jobs. I hate that we are considered entitled when all we want is an apartment and to maybe be treated like human beings at work.

Anyway here's my personal good but expensive recommendation:

Sheep Inc clothing will last decades at least. They have a repair service which you can use for life.

This isn't a paid ad I just like their business model

What's wrong with temu, friends keep recommending it

It’s sweat shop goods that fall apart in 1 wash and pollute the planet. Buying things from Temu is like hitting a “destroy a life for my convenience�� button over and over

Ask yourself if paying 2.50$ for a dress is worth it if the people making it are paid pennies by the hour, they subjected to extremely long working hours (12h days, 6 days a week) unsafe working conditions (have you heard of the Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh? it happened in your lifetime) and workers are often abused & exploited as well

In addition Temu, just like Wish and other cheap online shops like them, steal from artists and designers and independent creators. They make knockoffs. It’s their business model

Ask yourself and your friends if Temu is really worth it, knowing all of this

I’d been seeing ads for Temu and I caved and picked up this watercolor set. I drew Leona as my test and it turned out surprisingly good?

This particular set was 16usd and for its price, I got better quality than I expected.

I drew Leona because I recently picked up this lil guy and felt compelled. (I’m so happy this plushie is frowning like he should. I love my grumpy lil lion)
