LONGMIRE: Resolved | A Longmire Fanfic
The sequel to Unresolved picks up right where things left off, in the aftermath of the showdown with Malachi Strand. This story follows Cady Longmire and Jacob Nighthorse as they attempt to move forward with their lives together. Will Sheriff Walt Longmire accept his daughter’s apparent betrayal? How will things be resolved when so much is at stake?
I know it's been over a year, but three new chapters are up on AO3! The final two chapters are in the editing phase...

@scleroticstatue I've got another TV show for @thegreenleavesofspring to potentially watch sometime in the future. (I'm @-ing you sclerotic bc I know you are another person who Campaigns for TV Shows for Bri to Watch)
The show is called Longmire, and it's about a cowboy sheriff and his deputies and his BFF Indian friend who live in Wyoming. (From a quick google search it's categorized as a crime drama.) If you've ever seen or heard of the show Bones, it's pretty similar except instead of a lab and the suburbs, it's set in a small town in Wyoming and the Cheyenne rez. I only started watching in the second season because my mom was watching it and I got interested, but I've really enjoyed it so far. We're currently in the third season, and I'm quite invested now. Fingers crossed the show doesn't go south as often happens in later seasons of shows.
Most episodes are centered around the sheriff solving a murder mystery, but there's definitely plot arcs that stretch across multiple episodes. Walt Longmire, the sheriff, is such a down-to-earth guy that you can't NOT like him, and each of the main characters brings something to the table. (My favorite characters so far are Walt Longmire, Henry Standing Bear, and Vic Moretti.)
Anyway. You can probably guess why I think you would like this XD (It keeps making me think of Annáuchiwee :P) Of course, no pressure to ever watch this, but it's something I think you would probably enjoy.

This is a fine mess we're in Pt. 2 (Henry Standing Bear x Reader)
•• I hope there's at least one person out there enjoying this story! Find Part one here! Thanks! ••
He turned off all the lights in the bar, except for a rotating Rainier Beer sign, leaving the place just lit enough for the three of you to see. If you tried looking in through the windows though…you’d have no luck. Henry installed Rain Glass windows to keep the atmosphere of the bar quiet. Especially if a brawl broke out outside. That way it wasn’t his problem. When the sun hit the windows just right it made such a beautiful pattern across the dining area.
“Justin, come out with your hands up.” Walt’s voice boomed. The Absaroka County Sheriff didn’t get to use that MegaPhone of his much. You supposed that was a good thing. “If you come out right now I can talk with the DA about taking the death penalty off the table.” The phone started to ring. “That’s me. Pick it up and we’ll talk.”
“Sheriff Longmire,” Justin put the receiver to his ear. “A pleasure. Let me tell you how this is going to work.” He pulled up a bar stool and made himself comfortable. “First, you’re gonna get me an ambulance to the hospital. No replacing EMTs with any police officers. After that, you get me a helicopter to fly out of there, and maybe I won’t kill these two.” He chuckled. “Unlike that security guard at the bank. You know he got a round-off on me?” He took a deep breath. “Hurts like you wouldn’t believe.” Walt could believe it. He’d been shot before, more than once. “You go ahead and work on that then.” He put the phone down. “Let’s see if he makes me kill you two or not.”
Justin smirked before looking over. His eyes met yours and you felt a pit in your stomach. You found yourself leaning into Henry’s side more. “How about we have a little fun, sweetheart? I won’t be as rough as usual.” He rounded the bar and Henry jumped up, stepping forward and putting himself between you and Justin.
“You touch her, you will die where you stand.” Justin blinked, surprised by Henry’s outburst. Then he smiled again.
“Ah, she must be your honey, huh? Well, you’ll find it, Mister, that I do what I want.” He went to brush past Henry, but Henry wasn’t going to let that happen. He gave him a sucker punch right to his bullet wound. The noise that came from him didn’t sound human as he stepped back but managed to stay on his feet. The gun dropped from his hand. Henry went for another punch and was able to force him back against a table, sending chairs you’d put up earlier to the ground at their feet. Justin tripped backward on a chair and landed hard on his shoulder. Your eyes went for the gun and back to Justin. He started to try and stand while you found yourself rising to your feet and heading for the gun. He saw what you were doing and dove for the gun too, both your hands wrapping around either end of it. You didn’t know what to do as you and he started to fight for it, hands going over hands, not paying attention to where it was pointed, or if anyone’s finger was on the trigger-
BAM!
It was like lightning had struck your hand as you screamed, dropping the gun and pulling your hand back from where it had been around the barrel. You hissed at the pain before reeling back.
“(Y/n)!” Henry sounded like he was almost a mile away with how fast your blood was roaring through your ears. “(Y/n)!” You jump as you get turned around. Henry looked you up and down. “Were you shot? Does it hurt anywhere?” You tried to take a deep breath so you could answer him, but your lungs wouldn’t cooperate. They felt heavy and it was as if they’d sunk deeper into your chest. You brought up your hand and he sighed, leaning back on his knees. He looked behind you and you went to turn before he grabbed your wrist and kept your gaze forward. “He is dead. You do not need to see that.”
“I’ve got some burn cream back at the station if you and (Y/n) are up for a ride.” You jumped again. When had Walt gotten in here? Was it when you were fighting for the gun? Henry looked back at you.
“Are you up for that?” You flexed your hand and hissed before attempting another deep breath. This time, your body cooperated.
“Yeah.” You stated, and you could see Henry’s shoulders physically relax.
He stood up and offered you his hand. He smiled and you felt the blush return to your face.
“This is a fine mess we are in.” There was no doubt about that.

Finally watching the last season of Longmire and it’s pissing me off
The main plots are non-sensical.  As a Sheriff, as a LEO, Walt falls under qualified immunity against civil suits.  His actions were deemed reasonable and justified by both the DA and the FBI.  Legally he is untouchable, the entire Wrongful Death plot is pointless and stupid
To that end, the Mayor strollinga round like his boss and acting like he can fire him.  He can’t.  Sheriff is an elected position.  Only a judge or legislature could remove Walt from his position, the Mayor has no authority here.  Walt, as Sheriff, is Sheriff of all the towns in the area.  Not just the one the Mayor is Mayor of.  In many respects, Walt is actually more powerful than the Mayor.

Review: Longmire
I should have known this would happen. When I sample a riveting miniseries, I never stop at the pilot. I binge watch the whole thing -- in weeks, if not days. I keep streaming services in business.
Such is the case with Longmire, an addictive crime drama I somehow missed when it premiered on A&E in 2012. For the past several days, I have immersed myself in fictional Absaroka County, Wyoming, the primary setting of a show that ran six seasons.
In the series, Robert Taylor stars as Sheriff Walt Longmire, a prickly, old-school lawman who seems to have special insight into every crime that occurs in his surprisingly violent jurisdiction.
Others form a strong supporting cast, including rival deputy Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), loyal deputy Victoria "Vic" Moretti (Katee Sackhoff), lawyer daughter Cady Longmire (Cassidy Freeman), and longtime friend and tavern operator Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips). Along with rookie deputy Archie "The Ferg" Ferguson (Adam Bartley) and an endless stream of misbehaving locals, the regulars provide first-rate entertainment.
The backdrop is no less compelling. As a former Montana resident and occasional Wyoming visitor, I can relate to the setting. Fictional Durant, Wyoming, is like countless small towns in the northern Rockies: rough, raw, folksy, and sometimes sinister.
Even the high-plains sets and breathtaking mountain scenery, though, are no match for the sheriff. Taylor carries nearly every episode with a soft-spoken, commanding, no-nonsense manner that evokes James Arness' Marshal Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke.
I am now four episodes into the second season of Longmire, which is available in its entirely on Netflix. (My wife, who has surpassed me, is on episode seven.) I highly recommend the program to viewers looking for a captivating change of pace. Rating: 5/5.

Longmire
.✰* Martha Connally | Horseback rider. | North Wyoming | 18+ | heterosexual
Tumblr media
Martha is the oldest daughter of Cady and Branch Connally, the granddaughter of famed Sheriff Walt Longmire. Named after her grandmother whom she never got to know , Martha is the light in her parents and grandparents life. She knows nothing about her dad's side given their history but it seems like she's not missing much. She loves horses and horseback riding, a hobby she enjoys more with her grandfather. Martha is : Hard working, protective, focused, driven, animal loving but she is also stubborn, brash, argumentative
Stargate Atlantis
.✰* Amalie Roet | Animal Scientist. | Irish | 30+ | heterosexual
Tumblr media
Amalie was brought along the Atlantis expedition after she showed tremendous promise with her knowledge of animals both big and small. In fact it's safe to say she gets along better with those than most humans. But, getting to know the new species of a different galaxy is proving to Amalie that maybe trying to understand people isn't as hard as she made it out to be. And some of them are certainly less messy. Amalie is : Hard working, silly, loving, loyal, determined, bright but she is also gullible, grumpy, can be jealous, too focused, a bad liar.
.✰* Taryn | warrior. | Puraktai (self created species ) .| 30+ | pansexual
Tumblr media
From a planet in the Pegasus galaxy, Taryn comes from a tribe of people known as the Puraktai ; often described as humans with beast like qualities their culture reveres women , and their climate is rather cold. Due to the mysteries and myths surrounding her people not only have then been scattered by wraith, but by others who inhabit the galaxy -- including the Genii. With their home destroyed and numbers dwindled, those who remain alive are said to be hostages, prisoniers, or even slaves to the other species in the Pegasus. Taryn is no exception, having been captured and used by the Genii in illegal cage fighting ring between any enemy they claim for entertainment and sport. A 'pet' to Kolya -- that is until those from Atlantis came in shook things up. Taryn is : Loyal, strong, protective, but she is also very untrusting, brash, quick to act instead of think, paranoid.
The 10th Kingdom
.✰* Novalee | Student/writer. | New Yorker. | 20+ | heterosexual |
Tumblr media
The daughter of Wolf and Virginia, she was raised in the wild kingdom of New York with stories told of her parents adventures beyond the mirror. She had hoped to maybe one day have those adventures for herself but without the mirror she was simply locked into the world of make-believe, pretending that she ruled over New York though no one truly did. That was until things started to get a little out of hand and the Fairy Tale worlds started spilling over into the modern one. Suspecting evil at work, Novalee and her parents set off on a mission. Find and stop the darkness before it takes over their world as they know it. At least, that's a story worth telling isn't it ? Novalee is brave, compassionate, family oriented, protector but she is also a bit snappy ( being 1/3rd wolf ) and quick to act.
The Witcher
.✰* Demir | witcher. | old+ | Heterosexual
Tumblr media
All he'll tell you is that he is a Witcher of a school scattered and broken. Not uncommon anymore as it seems rare that any school remain standing. To some he and his brothers are a hero, to others he is like the monsters they try to protect others from. Doesn't matter to Demir what he's called as long as he is able to make coin to survive. He isn't out to rebuild what feels to be long gone, nor does he care to leave behind any kind of legacy. He simply wants to live, yet the sense of duty hangs over him and always seems to make it's presence known. Demir is:  quiet, knowledgeable, smart, well-read,a skilled fighter but he is also a broody, moody son of a bitch.

Longmire Meets James Luna
Longmire is a television series on Netflix that centers around the sheriff Walt Longmire. The show takes place in Absaroka County, Wyoming where Longmire's wife was murdered just 1 year prior. With the help of his right hand man, Standing Bear, and partner/ deputy Vic, Walt is able to grow as a character and even get closure on his wife’s death. While the show’s protagonist is a white man from Wyoming, the whole time there is a side of the show that depicts Native American tribe culture, more specifically, the Cheyenne tribe. The show does a really good job at using pictures and clothing to try and represent the tribes and their characteristics.
Tumblr media
As seen above, in episode 10 of season 3, the “dog soldiers” dressed in white body paint and what looks like traditional Native American clothing are putting one of their own to rest. The feathers in their hair and the attire I just described remind me a lot of the performance done by James Luna entitled, “Take a Picture of a Real Indian”. Even though the performance by James Luna was more to bring awareness to how people subjectively view Native Americans and their culture, I can’t help but see the correlation to similar representation in Longmire.
Tumblr media
Above is a picture of James luna's performance that shows the way in which native Americans aren't all this stereotypical appearance. Here, you can really see the resemblance to the far left picture of James Luna alongside the picture earlier of the Dog Soldiers. There are oftentimes representations of Native Americans in both traditional and westernized clothing similar to how James Luna switched his outfit multiple times during his performance. Showing the duality and non-stereotypical view of Native American culture really comes across in both cases. Sheriff Longmire’s best friend in the show is a Native American named Standing Bear that, by all appearances, dresses very similarly to the modern man his age, not as culturally inspired. I think both the show and the performance done by James Luna brings up the question of “what is it that dictates what ethnicity someone is”. These questions are left up to the viewer to decide yet still bring attention to the matter.

Longmire: Bridges Burn (fanvideo) by BookwormKate
If Cady Longmire burned her bridges with her dad, Sheriff Walt Longmire, when she began working for Jacob Nighthorse, it might look something like this. Career, love, purpose...What if she had continued on the road she was beginning to pave for herself? This video hints at a life that might have been beyond Cady’s unraveled character arc of season six.

I was a huge fan of Netflix’s Longmire series. Having watched this contemporary western gave me instant recognition of the novel’s characters. Craig Johnson’s The Cold Dish: A Longmire Mystery was a joy to read.
Walt Longmire is sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. He learns that the body of a  young man has been found, dead of a rifle bullet, apparently shot from long distance. The victim is a young man, one of four boys who were tried for raping Melissa Little Bird, a niece of Walt’s friend, Henry Standing Bear. Even though the boys were found guilty, the judge gave them limited sentences in juvenile facilities.
A second boy is shot and killed and the need to find the killer increases. Walt’s deputy, Victoria (Vic) becomes involved as they not only try to solve these murders, but attempt to stop any more attacks on the boys.
The Cold Dish is an absorbing read. I love Craig Johnson’s easy-going narrative and the plot was intricate enough to keep me guessing. I’m looking forward to reading more of the Longmire Mystery series.
