“Smooth is fast”

This is a common adage about racing technique, and while it’s definitely true, I see a lot if people misunderstand it.

The fastest way around the track involves the car moving smoothly. Yes, a lot of the time this comes from smooth steering wheel movement.

The tricky part is, sometimes you have to move the wheel sharply or abruptly, to keep the car moving smoothly. This happens when the distribution of grip across all four tires changes abruptly, typically due to weight shifting and/or suspension movement. At those moments, a sharp jerk of the wheel (or several) may be necessary to keep the car traveling a smooth and ideal path.

Beginners should focus on moving the steering wheel smoothly, but many drivers never unlock the full limit of their car, because they don’t evolve their technique.

As you drive faster and faster, the car WILL be subjected to more aggressive grip variation. You the driver need to navigate these inconsistencies to ensure the car moves smoothly, and sometimes that looks like jerky wheel movements.

Also, the funny result of this is that a clip of someone yanking the steering wheel around aggressively could be a sign of a total noob or a seasoned racer. It all depends on whether they’re needlessly fighting against the car, or masterfully guiding it. A smoothly moving car is fast.

okay wow tarmac rallies in DR2 feel so much worse than WRC. Not even close. I'm trying Spain in my Group B integrale and it feels like i'm racing on butter. In a bad way. Tarmac is supposed to be grippy why am I sliding all over the place.

Back again on sim-racing - Blu3&fun state 2024 #2

I'm glad to recover my old gaming setup and run Assetto Corsa, so... Training, stories... Drifting, drifting, races... Test another games.

I would like take a little more the time, I know I tried to publish 1 video per week but currently I prefer lay down more, think about future, now the ryhtm will be more unstable.

Probably increase content quality, trying somethings as always.
