Is Buffett Right about Snowflake (SNOW)?
Mr. Market thinks Warren Buffett is right about data-cloud company Snowflake (SNOW). Snowflakeâs share price rose from $122.45 on 15 June 2022 to $190.14 on 15 June 2023. However, Snowflakeâs price fell to $184.18 on 16 June 2023. Buffettâs Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) has owned 6.13 million SNOW shares since first quarter 2020. This purchase surprised investors because Snowflake was an initialâŚ

PART 10: BIG DICK IS BACK IN TOWN
y/n is back in brooklyn for the holidays. thinking that a stream will make her feel less homesick for cali, she starts working on her famously titled hentai.free.srv. what was supposed to be a relaxing stream turns into a special delivery about two hours in.
âââ corpse husband x reader âââ soc. media + written fiction! âââ word count: 2.2k âââ ⼠req: Here's one... You know those apps for delivery like Domino's or whatnot... What if reader is streaming Among Us with Corpse, and reader mentions they're hungry and Corpse offers to order them food, and readers like no no it's fine... Then there's delivery at the door (Corpse ordered beforehand)Â
authorâs note:Â fucky format is also back in town baby!!! also if you find any mistakes - no u didnt <3 thank u everyone for enjoying this story sm i literally cant believe how feral yall going strawberry cow was a nuclear explosion im still recovering tbh. got an ask a while ago and decided to incorporate it into myso. happy holidays everyone! myso will continue on monday!

Indeed, being soft on any social media platform was the biggest disgrace and needed to be eliminated post haste. Moreover, it was a slippery slope - once you start flooding your timeline with cute imagery and heart emojis, what will stop you from posting inspirational Facebook quotes? Disgusting. If Rae were here, she would chide you (not you thinking about her as if sheâs dead or something). For once in your life, you feel like you deserve it.Â
Alas, you hope this little chaos youâve caused is enough to throw everyone off. The stans, especially. You know the hashtags, youâve seen ARMY scourging for info online with the same fervor and ruthlessness 1 Direction fans hacked airport security cameras just to spy on the boys. If you had any dirty secrets online, they are out to the public now - thankfully, besides the Harry Styles stan account (with edits and all), you have nothing. Though, now that you think about it, exposed nudes would have been better than your Punk!Harry edit receiving almost a million views. God, your lifeâs a fucking mess.
Your fans arenât the only ones out for info - you, too, are trying to decipher Raeâs message. Code: Barbecue Sauce. The two of you had come up with it roughly two years ago, around the same time when you promised that if you didnât find significant others by the time youâre 40, youâll just marry each other. It was one of the many rules found in your friendship codex. Barbecue Sauce signifies information - an exchange of information. And depending on how it ends or begins (âSo Iâm sitting thereâ alludes to Rae, âOn my tittiesâ alludes to you), secret data on that person is given away, usually free of charge.Â
But why? And to whom did Rae give away what? You had pestered her mercilessly and even sent some voice messages where you were crying. You were only crying because of a video of a grandpa smiling you saw on TikTok, but you are a snake, and so you put those tears to good use. If streaming doesnât work out, youâll just become an actress. Hollywood would love you. Your PR firm sure as fuck wouldnât, though.
Rae was having none of it. She said youâll figure it out eventually. Told you to channel your superior puzzle skills. You were quick to remind her that you can barely count to ten without having an aneurysm. Oddly serious, she admitted that she worries for you sometimes. Why only sometimes?! you demanded. She merely sighed. uttering under her breath something that sounded closely to âBoke.â
You leave her for barely a week and sheâs already neck deep in the gay volleyball anime, hoodie and cardboard cutout and everything. Your life is falling apart.
But Brooklyn is nice. It had snowed when you stepped off of the plane. Thousands of snowflakes sprinkling into your hair, dotting your cheeks and nose. You missed this sight back in Cali. You missed your parents, too.Â
Home cooked meals, old sweaters, your old room and about 40GB worth of old high school pictures on your computer. You went through them all one night. Some were stomach churning, cringe inducing nightmares. You were especially fond of those. Texted some of your friends that were still in Brooklyn, met up, decided to bake. Bad idea, Rae was the resident chef back in Cali. Besides laughing till your stomach hurt, and almost burning down your kitchen, nothing all that significant happened. Somewhere down the line, at about 3 am, half-way through a cheesy rom-com you had the overwhelming urge to text Corpse.
Thatâs where the problems really started. God, you missed California, missed being in the same timezone with a guy you hadnât even met yet, how embarrassing is that?! You missed skating around and taking pictures of the beach in the setting sun, sending it to him, silently wishing he was with you to admire the view.Â
You really want to call him. And to hang out with him. But for some reason, the thought of that springs up immediate anxiety and you shy away from asking. Him sending you cute good morning texts doesnât help, either. Maybe itâs better he doesnât know that youâre a blushing, stuttering mess each time you read âbabyâ.Â
Late evening. Your stream is already set up, people are slowly trickling in and you greet them with a grin and a soft âHello! Hi hi!â. You did your best to make your room a perfectly chaotic backdrop - led lights, an embarrassing amount of anime merch and plushies. You always try to balance out your weeb side by dressing hot as fuck for your streams - todayâs inspiration just so happens to be egirls. Mostly because you watched one too many egirl make-up tutorials on TikTok, and also because youâve been listening to Corpseâs song all day.
Yeah, no, who are you kidding, you dressed up this way because you were hoping Corpse was watching your stream. You didnât forget your cat headphones, either. You know he likes them. You want to make him suffer. Perhaps then, finally, he will ask you out, so you wouldnât have to.

âźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâź
âI feel like,â You start when you put away your phone, staring idly at the chat, âI feel like I need a new name for you guys. Calling you guys after two years of streaming is just... weird, no? I also donât respect men so I donât want to call you guys. Like, so many creatorâs have, like, a name for their fans. Uhm, Cody Ko has the chodesters, Kurtis Conner has, uh, folks? Kurtis Town? Citizens! Markiplier has mommy issues--â You canât help snorting, âSo, Iâve been, like, thinking - I know, shocking! - so I was thinking Iâm gonna name you cockroaches. Because youâre grimy little shits impossible to kill. And also then I can use the legendary Minaj meme ROACHES!â
Your stream enthusiastically echoes ROACHES, making the chat swim. Yes, if anyone would enjoy such a name, it would be your audience. Youâre as equally proud as you are disturbed.
âWell, anyway.â Leaning back into your chair, you throw your arms out with a bright grin, âBig dick is back in town, baby! If you noticed the backdrops different, itâs cuz Iâm in Brooklyn now. Donât ask me when I will return to Always Sunny, I donât plan that far ahead.â
While Minecraft boots up, you decide to answer a few questions.
r u dating sykkuno?
You want to smack your head into the keyboard, but as it is, you canât exactly afford a new one, so you refrain, âNo, Sykkuno and I are not dating, we are just good friends. Uhm, Iâm not sure how much Iâll have to repeat this, but, we really arenât, so if the roaches could chill - Oh my God, that sounds so stupid, I love it - uh, yeah, if the roaches could chill thatâd be great.â
the roaches lmao sounds like weâre a sports team
âOh shit, yeah it does, uh-- maybe I can make like, jerseys or something. Thatâd be cool, I think.â
how disappointed are your parents with the way your life turned out?
âMy parents are actually not disappointed at all!â You say with a cute little smile, âUhm, theyâre both really proud, actually. Theyâre glad I found something I love doing and made a job outta it. Dad finds my Youtube videos endearing. Yes, they watch pretty much all of my videos, unless I explicitly tell them not to. And yeah, with all the fucks and thirsting for anime characters. Uhm, it was very embarrassing at first, but I mean, after a while, shame just...doesnât exist anymore, I guess? Funny thing about my parents, actually, when they watch my videos-â You eye catches a comment, âOh! No, they only watch my Youtube videos. They donât know how to use Twitter, thank God. Uhm, anyway-- when they hear a name they donât know, like, I dunno, Dabi, or something, they google--â Youâre grinning by now, eyes crinkling, giggling softly, â--who that is, and buy me like, merch and stuff. Itâs really cute.Â
can i be adopted by ur parents plz
will you and corpse ever collab?!
You were about to answer, though the man of the hour himself decides to do it for you.
Corpse_Husband: yes.
Okay, not to say your heart skipped a beat, but it totally did. With a pleased smile, you nod, like one of those bobble head toys sold at the dollar store. The motion is oddly reminiscent of Sykkunoâs own nod. Perhaps you had picked it up from him. The chat seems to notice.
pack it up, sykkuno
More questions pile about this mysterious collab you and Corpse are planning. Yeah, youâd like to hear more about it, too, since he single highhandedly decided one was happening right now. Corpse remains silent. Fine, keep your secrets.Â
âOkay, guys, oh, I mean, roaches, Oh my God--â Youâre covering your mouth, giggling, â-calling all roaches, calling all roaches, calm down. Everyone grab a snack and a blanket Iâm turning up the music volume so we can all chill. Entering chill zone. Entering chill zone. Roaches, prepare.â
we are prepared
âźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâź
An hour or so passes and you grow hungry. It shows with the amount of cakes you had baked in your server. Currently, you find yourself throwing eggs at the wall of one of the renovated houses, your face scrunched in concentration and slight frustration. 24 of the 50 eggs have been wasted. âWhatâs a girl gotta do to get some chicks around here?â you had uttered under your breath, until, finally, a screech - the egg finally spawns a mob. Your mouth falls open, âAww, look!â You approach it, so small, walking in zigzags beside you, âItâs a baby chicken! Die, bitch.â The baby chicken is no more as you swing your bedazzled (you have mods) diamond sword. Youâre cackling by the time the dust settles.
y/n is a child murderer
âRoaches,â You address your fan-base, spurring another fit of laughter - you canât get over the name, âI think Iâm like, forgetting that eating in Minecraft wonât actually make less hungry in real life.â
take a break and go eat queen <3
âFuck no, we starve and die like men. Now I actually really need another chicken.â
Another twenty minutes trickle by and youâre trying to lure back a panda from the jungle when thereâs a knock on your bedroomâs door. Whipping your head to the side, you slide down your headphones. At the same time, your mom pokes her head through the ajar door, âMOM!â You scream, âGet OUT of my room Iâm playing Minecraft!â But your yell has no actual bite to it, as you donât manage to hide your smile. Your mom laughs, doing some sort of sign language and motioning for you to follow her with her head. That or itâs some sort of performative dance.Â
âIâm live right now,â You tell her, pointing at your screen. She knows this already, though, âdo you want to say hi?âÂ
The roaches spam the chat with friendly hellos. You mom, quite impatient now, waves you over.Â
âSorry, roaches, mom needs something. Be back in a bit!â
Stopping the stream, you rush out of your seat and pleased she slinks into the hallway. âWhatâs this about?â
âYour pizza came.â
âMy what now?â You echo, confused.
âDominoâs. You ordered pizza?â
âWhat? No? I was busy with the stream, I never--â
Thankfully, you had managed to grab your phone from your room before you exited. You almost choke on spit once you read the messages.
âźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâź

âźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâźă Ň ăâź
You decide that itâll be impossible to stream after experiencing what you had just experienced. You tweet out a quick apology to the roaches (God, that fucking name) and say that you had a breakdown but youâre okay. That is as a close to the truth as you managed to muster. Itâs a sad sight, chewing and crying; your mom winced when she saw your state - disheveled hair and rundown eyeliner and everything. âDâaww,â She had muttered, caressing the top of your head, âdonât cry my little raccoon.â
If anyone was ever to ask you where did your chaotic nature come from, youâd answer with my mom. To make yourself feel better, you took a selfie - duck face and peace sign and the horrible 2000â˛s angle. Sent it to Rae.Â
looking hot, her message read.Â
thanks, was all you replied with.
You couldnât just leave things as they were. Once you calmed down, you wanted to text Corpse, but how would you follow up the ungodly caps lock and screeching? Impossible. An idea sprung to mind, one that was brave. Taking the first step.
Instead of sending a text, you sent a voice memo.
âThank you for the pizza, it was delicious.â
You voice still sounded a bit raspy. His reply was instant. Your heart skipped a beat. He sent a voice memo back.
âGlad you liked it, baby.â
He was going to be the death of you.

First Lines Tag
Tagged by @phelfromgrace - thank youuuu :D
Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all!) See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line. Then tag 10 authors!
Tagging: @tishinada, @pineaberry and @riajade01 ^^
1. Achromatic (Gingerrose, Spy Handler!Rose) Conspiracy meetings in seedy cantinas, breakneck chases through narrow urban canyons or at least mysterious meetings on foggy bridges - that's what Rose had envisioned when she had more or less begged General Organa to transfer her to the espionage department.
2. For a Fistful of Dollars (Gingerrose, Western AU) Fiery sparks flew up in the air, dancing like fireflies on a hot summer evening. Some returned into the red-hot fireplace, merging with the brightly glowing charcoal; others strayed from the fiery pit, landing on the cold floor, breathing out their short existence.
3. Deep Waters (Gingerpilot, Stranded) The first thing Poe noticed was the unmistakable stench of tibanna gas that filled the air of the cantina. It was the smell of cheap, low-quality blaster cartridges leaking gas. Stepping from the sweltering heat outside into the cool dive gave him goosebumps.
3. Never Alone (Gingerrose, Horror) Rose stared at her hands. They werenât pretty. Short fingers, palms full of calluses and old cuts where her grip had slipped when using the hydrospanner, short, chewed off nails. She sighed and leaned against the wall of her cell, rubbing her wrists where there were bruises from the binders. It hurt, burned slightly when she brushed against the grazed skin, but she couldnât stop touching it. 4. Edge of Night (Gingerrose, Spy!Hux) Rose felt a cold, desperate bead of sweat run down her back. An ashen taste spread in her mouth as she marched forward until she reached a door. It slid open with a low hissing sound. She stared at the dimly-lit hallway in front of her, slowed her step and gulped. There was a small door visible at the far end of it; thatâs where they were going. Their final destination.
5. Red Salt (Gingerrose, Dark Fic) The air carried the scent of salt when Hux stepped out of the command shuttle; the sun beam reflected by the thin layer of salt on the ground made him squint. A mild, warm wind made the tails of his greatcoat flutter slightly. With the back of his gloved hand he wiped over his mouth and pulled the corners of his mouth down. He caught a whiff of oil, hot metal, and molten iron emanating from the Resistance Base in front of him, or rather from the destruction of its blast doors.
6. Der Wolf und der Fuchs (Kylux, Smut) Hux tugged at his black leather glove, and straightened his back as he walked towards hangar 23. The only sound he heard were the heavy boots of the Stormtroopers following him. His Stormtroopers, he thought with satisfaction. He had finally arrived at the top⌠the Finalizer was a magnificent ship. He had gone over the technical specifications as soon as Snoke had promoted him to General. He brushed the two stripes on his greatcoat's sleeve. He shouldnât allow himself to be proud â this was nothing, just another stepping stone.
7. Heterotopia (Gingerrose, Prisoner!Hux) The worst part was the humming. It wasnât the scratchy clothes they had given him, nor the lack of privacy. It was the kriffing humming of the force field â the reddish energy wall was flickering slightly. Making a soft clicking sound every time the oscillator kicked in. Hux slowly opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling of his cell. It was painted in the red light of the force field, he could see the rivets above him.
8. Ginger Gears (Gingerrose, Spy!Rose) Rose wiped the sweat running down from her forehead away with the back of her hand. She put the hydro-spanner into her mouth and leaned down on the small rectangle hole in the floor. Behind her she could hear a mouse droid scurrying past her with its tell-tale beeping. She opened the top-most button of her dark grey First Order uniform. Finally she saw the chips she was looking for. With a few quick movements she had pulled them out of the energy node and replaced them with chips from her pocket.
9. The Robot and the Old Crank (Detroit Become Human, Friendship) Hank exhaled as he felt the heavy raindrops falling on his head, he waited for a moment before he opened his umbrella. His eyes burned from staring into the computer screen, perhaps he shouldâve used the eye drops Jean had brought him years ago. Either that or he should get glasses like Bob Fowler ⌠but Bob looked like a dork with them to be honest.
10. Photophobia (Gingerrose, Companion Piece) Seeing his subordinates working diligently while he stood calmly in the centre of the bridge of the Destructor was immensely satisfying â for a moment Hux almost felt content. Of course it didnât last; the beeping of the priority comm channel startled everybody around him. Hux himself didnât move, didnât allow himself to show how much the call of this child irritated him.
11. The Cruellest Thing (Gingerrose, Companion Piece) Rose Tico used to daydream about all the heroic deeds she would accomplish when she first joined the Resistance. But it took her only a couple of days to realise that the rebels were already full on skilled pilots like her sister, hot-blooded daredevils and heroic leaders like Poe Dameron. They were in desperate need of grease monkeys though, people who could fix blasters, fighters and jammed doors to command centres.
12. Home (Finn/Rey/Hux, Body Switch) The lift doors slid open and revealed an surprisingly unostentatious throne room. There was red tapestry on the walls. The black throne and the lack of ornament were a stark contrast to the gaudy golden robes Snoke was wearing. Rey straightened herself and made her way towards the brightly lit centre of the room. Kylo Ren walked right behind her like an uncanny shadow. She could feel his gaze upon her and a cold shiver ran down her spine.
13. Ryloth: The Return of the Sith (SWTOR, SW/Vette/Quinn) Everything felt numb and cold. Slowly, very slowly an almost painful tingle spread through Badeshâs chest. The tingle became a burning pain that made him grit his teeth. He felt the urge to made the uncomfortable feeling stop, he wanted to push away whoever was tormenting him. But something hindered his movement, Badesh tried to focus and used the Force to⌠he almost blacked out from sheer exertion. Suddenly he was released and Badesh fell hard on a metallic floor.
14. Big Bet Game (SWTOR, Vette/Quinn) The waiter banged the glass with Tarisian ale carelessly on the table, the dark liquid spilled over and joined the other stains on the wooden surface. Quinn looked up from his data pad and turned up his mouth. The waiter sneered at him and left. Quinn put the pad away â there had been no messages from Agent Shan or Lord Saikrâm. He throat felt parched and he sighed while staring at the ale. With death-defying courage he lifted the slightly smudgy glass and took a gulp, the swill didnât taste that bad to his surprise.
15. Requiem For A Dream (SWTOR, SW/Theron Shan) Theron rubbed his hands together while he waited for the large holo map to reveal the location of the mysterious super-weapon. Snowflakes swirled around him, he shivered a little when he felt the snow touch his scalp. He allowed himself to take another look of Copero â the beaches at the feet of the mountains, the shimmering ocean and the lush flora and of course the majestic Cling'geam'riro alps ⌠but it gave him no joy.
16. Baggage from Iokath (SWTOR, SW/Quinn) Darth Naqâz was usually an eloquent man. During his tenure as the Emperors Wrath his sharp tongue had been as infamous as his deadly lightsaber. But his wit failed completely him when Lana Beniko introduced two would-be assassins who had snuck in into the Alliance base on Iokath. He just glanced at the blonde woman but when he set his eyes on the dark-haired man who was brought before him by Alliance soldiers his eyes widened and he gasped: It was none other than Malavai Quinn, his former second-in-command.
17. A Night on Tatooine (SWTOR, Vette/Quinn) 'Tatooine sunsets are without equal. What a pity that one must stand on the planet to see them' Quinn couldnât remember where he had read those lines, but these words rang very true as he put a soothing gel on his sunburnt skin. He sighed as he saw his red face in the small oval mirror; he carefully applied gel on his cheeks and his nose when a loud banging on the bathroom door made him flinch.
18. Rogue Agent (SWTOR, SW/Theron Shan) The Manaan sun shone brightly, and Theron Shan squinted as he scanned the promenade for his contact. The salt hung heavy in the chilly air. Selkath and off-worlders walked past him. Out of habit he listened what they were talking about.
â⌠the next shipment of kolto is due in three days,â said a green-skinned female Twiâlek.
âOf course. After that we have to negotiate a new deal â the demand for kolto is rising,â the Selkath next to her said. âAnd with the recent attacks on Tython and Korriban âŚâ
19. Sith Relics (SWTOR, SW/Quinn, Smut) Darth Naqâz left the shipâs training room, his robes were soaked from his sweat and were becoming more and more uncomfortable. He had hoped that a prolonged training session would help with his growing unease â but even after he had slashed his way through three training droids he couldnât dispel the tension that had taken hold of him in the past week.
20. Time and what became of it (SWTOR, SW/Quinn) The shrill beeping of the chronometer rang through the room. Quinn exhaled and fumbled the shrieking device on his bedstand until he finally hit the off button. He closed his eyes for a moment before he finally got up. He slowly entered the tiny bathroom he had in his own personal quarters. Quinn activated the hydro tap and splashed water in his face. He looked at himself in the rectangular mirror above the washbasin. Had these lines in his face always been there? Or hadnât he noticed before?
As for choosing my favorite opening line... that's hard - perhaps "Red Salt" or "For a Fistful of Dollars" because there are no hands people stare at xD

Tech Companies to Know in 2022
No industry has been hotter than the tech industry over the last 15 years. Thereâs been the rise of Facebook and social media, the global move to smartphones and mobile apps, the blockchain and cryptocurrencies, the mass rollout of cloud computing, ride-sharing, and video streaming just to name a few major events within tech. The next 15 years could be even bigger for tech as companies begin to release offerings around artificial intelligence and machine learning, automation, robotics, autonomous driving, workflow efficiency, and web3.

Three tech companies investors should keep on their radar are Databricks, Airtable, and Mobileye. Databricks' database architecture and Airtable's update to the traditional spreadsheet have earned both companies huge amounts of private money and big valuations. And Mobileye's advanced assisted and autonomous driving technology has helped grow the company's value by 2x since being acquired. Here is a brief introduction to the companies, along with a few reasons to keep them on your watch list.

Databricks
Founded in 2013, Databricks is an artificial intelligence powered data analytics company. Databricks helps businesses clean, store, and analyze data. Â What sets Databricks apart is its lakehouse architecture, which has a number of benefits including support for a wider variety of workloads, ease of data versioning and governance, cost-effectiveness, and reduced data redundancy.
Databricks has raised $3.6 billion in funding from investors, with its last money raise coming in August of 2021, where it raised $1.6 billion. Databricks is currently valued at $38 billion, making it one of the largest venture backed privately held firms in the U.S..
Whatâs to Love About It
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic the market for enterprise software has exploded. Companies spent $477 billion on enterprise software in 2019, and that number jumped 11%in 2020 according to Statista. Statista also estimates that spending on enterprise software could reach $752 billion in the coming years.
Databricks has been able to reap the benefits of the favorable environment. In 2021 Databricks' recurring revenue hit $600 million, up from $425 million in 2020. Â Currently, 40% of the Fortune 500 uses Databricks' platform, and the company has partnerships with over 450 international firms.
In 2021, Gartner recognized Databricks as a leader in cloud database management systems and in data science and machine learning platforms, making Databricks the only cloud-native vendor to be named a leader in both categories.
Databricks isnât resting on past success, itâs looking to expand its reach, and has recently rolled out a version of its lakehouse intelligence tool for retailers. The new offering helped Databricks capture the business of Walgreens, Kroger, and H&M Group.
Market Threats
Databricks faces competition from Teradata, SnowFlake ($SNOW), Firebolt, Azure SynapseAnalytics, Hadoop, and DataStage to name a few.

Airtable
Founded in 2012 by Howie Liu after selling his first company Etacts to Salesforce ($CRM), Airtable has been described as Excel spreadsheets on steroids. Liu and his co-founders gave the basic spreadsheet that we all know a much needed update by mixing spreadsheets and professional database functionality, and the cherry on top, is that Airtable Is a no-code / low-code platform. This means Airtable users don't have to be fluent in SQL and or in writing scripts to create powerful tools for their businesses.
As of late 2021, Airtable has raised over $1.3 billion, with the latest funding round bringing in over $700 million. The companyâs value as a private company has been rising rapidly. After its last funding round in December the company was valued at $11 billion, nearly doubling its $5.7 billion valuation from March of 2021.
Whatâs to Love About It
Airtable's ability to plug and play makes it an incredible tool for teams and businesses. Mobile apps and web apps are mainly creating data, reading data, updating data, and deleting data, it's what programmers refer to as CRUD (create, read, update, delete). The ability to create, read, update, and delete data, without having to know a line of code is a big deal. Calling in professional programmers to create an app can cost thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. With Airtable, businesses can construct their own apps to meet an immediate need, saving time and money in the process.
Airtable relies on the âland and expandâ marketing philosophy. This occurs when one person starts using Airtable to manage a team, a project, or desired output. That person introduces the product to their team and encourages the entire team to use Airtable. That team corresponds with another and introduces Airtable to that team. Once the desired goal is accomplished, the teams break up, the members join new teams with new missions, and if they enjoyed their Airtable experience they'll pitch the ideal of using Airtable to their new teams. Â Slack, the company that gained popularity by putting a new spin on email and workplace communications had success with the same approach.
Airtable is in the process of shifting its image to reflect that it can be used by large enterprises, and not just individual tinkerers and small teams.
All together Airtable has over 300,000 clients, which include Netflix ($NFLX), Spotify ($SPOT), and Tesla ($TSLA). 30% of Airtable users pay for the service, and the company's annual recurring revenue is over $100 million. According to venture capitalist Peter Fenton, who invested in Twitter ($TWTR), Yelp ($YELP), and Cloudera, Airtable has the best retention numbers heâs ever seen.
Determining Airtableâs addressable market is a tough task, but sarca.com did a great job of doing so in the image below.

For enterprises or small teams that donât need a dedicated CRM or dedicated marketing tool or dedicated project management tool, Airtable works just fine, which makes Airtableâs addressable market the white space between the dedicated enterprise software tools.
Market Threats
Notion Labs, Trello, Domino Data Lab, Asana, Smartsheet, Basecamp, Coda, Hubspot, ProductBoard, Workday, and Rows are some of Airtable's competitors.

Mobileye
Founded in 1999, Mobileye is a leading innovator in self-driving hardware and software. Over 100 million vehicles worldwide rely on Mobileye technology. In 2017, Intel acquired Mobileye for $15.3 billion, now worth close to $50 billion, Intel is planning to spin Mobileye off sometime this year.
Whatâs to Love About It
Market conditions are in Mobileye's favor. We are closer than weâve ever been to true self-driving technology. The thought of self-driving vehicles is no longer stuff we only see in movies, there are a number of companies working on fully autonomous vehicles. Mobileye's revenue growth exemplifies the global move towards utilizing self-driving technology. In 2014, Mobileye generated $143 million in revenue, in 2021 the company brought in $1.3 billion in revenue, which marked a 40% increase from 2020. Â More than 25 automakers and 300 plus vehicle models depend on Mobileye technology.
Mobileye is also a data play. The Mobileye Roadbook is a database of high definition maps created by vehicles that are already on the road and equipped with Mobileye cameras and chips. This map provides the sensors found on autonomous vehicles with an ideal of what to expect on the roadway. Mobileye has ambitions of a robo taxi fleet, and having an up to date map of roadways and neighborhoods will be a big advantage against the many other companies that have aspirations of starting their own robo taxi service. Mobileye has plans to test its robotaxi service in Germany some time this year.

Market Threats
Googleâs Waymo, General Motorsâ Cruise, Nvidia, Argo AI, Pony.AI, Baidu, and AutoX are a few of the other companies that are working on self-driving technology.
My Take
Of the three companies covered Mobileye appeals to me the most. As a former claims rep for one of the major insurance companies, I know first hand how reckless and inattentive human drivers can be. If we can program cars to drive safer than a human, it will have a big impact on the auto industry, the insurance industry, the bodily injury litigation industry and a few other industries.
I also like the opportunities that Mobileye's Roadbook could bring. A trend has developed over the last few years, whenever a company mentions its work on autonomous vehicles, it also mentions the possibility of starting a self-driving taxi service. What those companies don't have is a database of maps that are being updated by millions of vehicles. Mobileye could make Roadbook a subscription service and market it to other robotaxi companies.
Databricks is a company I like and will follow closely. There is a belief by private investors that Databricks could have a Snowflake-like stock market performance when it decides to go public. Snowflake's value was $33 billion when it went public in September 2020, Databricks is currently valued at $38 billion. Snowflake's stock has performed well for investors, the company went public at $120 per share, and hit $400 per share less than four months after going public. Snowflake currently trades at $311.11 per share.
Airtable is an interesting company, but not one I'd be quick to invest in. I like the product, I like the problem it addresses, and I like the no-code / low-code movement that it's a part of. However, Airtable reminds me of Slack, but with more competition.

Before being acquired by Salesforce, Slack's competition was traditional email and Microsoft's Teams. And though Slack was loved by its users, the stock's performance didn't live up to the hype it generated as a private company. Slack did a direct listing at a price of $26 per share, which valued the company at $15.7 billion. The stock soared 48% after going public, but then slowly traded down until it fell below its listing price. As Microsoft's Teams started to gain momentum, investors shied away from owning Slack. The stock was trading under $30 per share when Salesforce acquired the company for $27.7 billion.
I could see Airtable walking the same path as Slack, by going public, having a big debut, and then a slow sell off as competition heats up, and then getting acquired, or merging with another no-code / low-code platform that addresses a different problem.
Choosing the Right One
There is an abundance of investment opportunities within tech, and trying to figure out which company is going to be the next Apple, Amazon, Google, or Netflix can be a difficult task for an investor. In my own tech investing, if a company has very little operating history to analyze I ask myself these questions.
Does the Company Have a Moat?
A moat is a term coined by Warren Buffett, and it equates to having a competitive advantage that is difficult or impossible to duplicate. That competitive advantage can be superior tech, name and brand recognition, or a high degree of customer loyalty among other things.
Is the Tech Something That People Just use or Is It Something They Rave About?
People use email, but early Slack users raved about Slack. The same goes for Zoom, even before the pandemic, people that were using Zoom talked about it in a glowing manner. Â In contrast, GoToMeeting has been around since 2006, and I remember using GoToMeeting for a fantasy baseball draft back in 2009 or 2010, and after that day, I rarely heard anyone talk about GoToMeeting.
Is the World Moving Towards the Company?
This is a question that I've started to ask myself lately after looking back on my past investments. I had opportunities to invest in Tesla, Adobe ($ADBE), Nvidia ($NVDA), and Netflix ($NFLX) for under $20, but I was too focused on the now to think about the future.
When I passed on Tesla, Adobe, Nvidia, and Netflix, I was investing in companies that I believed would provide big returns over the next 6 to 12 months, but never thinking about the next 6 to 12 years. Some may say this is a hindsight is 20/20 kind of thing, which could be true, but if you consider someone like Cathie Wood of ARK Invest, I believe some of her big wins have come because she's thinking years out, and not quarter-to-quarter. The world has come to Tesla, the public wants electric vehicles that look good. When the world started the shift to smartphones, the demand for Adobe's product suite grew with the rise of the app economy and digital content creation.
These aren't the only questions I answer before considering an investment in a new company, but they're the ones I spend the most time thinking about and researching.
I can't guarantee that asking yourself these particular questions is going to get you into the next Tesla or Netflix at $20 a share, these questions are just a start, and can be used to create your own framework for selecting winning investments. Good luck.

ISTJ Fictional Tropes
Like anything in fiction there are always tropes. This include characters based on their MBTI. Now not all characters that are ISTJ fit into these exact tropes and many fit into multiple as you will note in the examples. The following are major tropes these ISTJ characters have a pattern of falling into and I think they help define their type as a whole in the big picture. Hopefully, this can be almost a quick cheat sheet at times when typing characters.Â
Traditional Leader
These characters are what we think of as your typical leader. They are the ones you trust because they stick to their center, what they feel is right. Theyâre usually fiercely loyal. These leaders are service oriented. They donât see themselves as in control, but as serving a role, one that would exist without them. One they choose out of some sense of responsibility or duty to uphold.Â
Examples: Commander Lexa (The 100), Captain Ray Holt (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Queen Elizabeth II (The Crown), Lord Eddard Stark (Game of Thrones), Stannis Baratheon (Game of Thrones), George Washington (Hamilton: An American Musical), Thorin (The Hobbit), Fergus (Pixarâs Brave), Theodon (The Lord of the Rings), Powhatan (Disneyâs Pocahontas), Queen Catherine of Aragon (The Tudors), Kercheck (Disneyâs Tarzan), King George (Once Upon a Time), Elsa (Disneyâs Frozen and Once Upon a Time), and Rick Grimes (The Walking Dead).
Detective/Inspector
Most of these character actually are cops, detectives, inspectors, but that is not exactly what this means. This trope for the ISTJ involves them being excited by their inferior Ne. They love to solve things methodically with Si-Te, but get excited by solving puzzles and investigating using their Ne. These types are interested in the truth and their duty to reveal the truth. They will often be willing to break the law/rules in order to uncover the truth. Their loyalty is to what their role upholds, not to people please. The ISTJ is self sacrificing and is okay being painted negatively if the result leads to the truth and justice.Â
Examples: Quentin Lance (Arrow), Mako (Avatar: Legend of Korra), Captain Ray Hold (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Barbara Gordon/Batgirl/Oracle (DC Comics), Joe Swanson (Family Guy), Tina Goldstein (Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them), Chloe Decker (Lucifer), Inspector Chester Campbell (Peaky Blinders), James Gordon (Gotham and DC Comics), Bonnie Winterbottom (How To Get Away With Murder), Sara Lance (Arrow and Legend of Tomorrow), Javert (Les Miserables), Shikamaru Naru (Naruto Shippuden), Bartholomew Rusk (Penny Dreadful), Anderson (BBCâs Sherlock), Jim Hopper (Stranger Things), Sam Winchester (Supernatural), Sheriff Stalinski (Teen Wolf), Nobuchika Ginoza (Psycho-Pass), and Rick Grimes (The Walking Dead).
Dutiful Soldier
ISTJ characters that fit this trope are often soldiers, however, it isnât a requirement to be part of this trope. These ISTJs are dedicated to a cause and remain personally connected and loyal to it. They are highly dependable in performing their duty, whatever that role may be. Their tertiary Fi, often influences them morally to be connected to a cause. They work hard and always follow through on a task. This isnât about following rules created by a system blindly. These character follow a code and if that means breaking the rules to uphold a personal code, they will do it.Â
Examples: Allison Argent (Teen Wolf), Takashi Morinozuka (Ouran High School Host Club), Mulan (Once Upon a Time), Norrington (Pirates of the Caribbean), Fujitora (One Piece), Bartholomew Rusk (Penny Dreadful), Yamato (Naruto Shippuden), Mako Mori (Pacific Rim), Athos (BBCâs The Musketeers), Ardeth Bay (The Mummy Film Series), Li Shang (Disneyâs Mulan), Mike Wazowski (Monsters, Inc.), Mameha (Memoirs of a Geisha), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Claire Temple (Netflixâs The Defenders Universe), Sebastian (Disneyâs The Little Mermaid), Zazu (Disneyâs The Lion King), Cogsworth (Disneyâs Beauty and the Beast), Harry/Galahad (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Astrid (How To Train Your Dragon), Dr. Eric Foreman (House, MD), Legolas (The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings), Maximus (Gladiator), Brienne of Tarth (Game of Thrones), Riza Hawkeye (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), Zoe Washburne (Firefly), Danny Pink (Doctor Who), Katana/Tatsu Toro (DC Comics), Starfire (DC Comics), Melinda May (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Jack Thompson (Agent Carter), Indra (The 100), Maggie Greene (The Walking Dead), and Alex Danvers (Supergirl).
The Specialist
This ISTJ is a master of something. They are so focused and will know every fact about their specialization. Whatever they love is part of their identity, it is what defines them and the use of concrete sensing facts is what helps them relate to their interest. When an ISTJ character is dedicated to a passion, no one knows as much as they do about it.Â
Examples: Dr. Abigail Griffin (The 100), Hope Van Dyne (Ant-Man), Gray Fullbuster (Fairytail), Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory), Dr. Caitlin Snow (The Flash), Ross Gellar (Friends), Tatsu Toro/Katana (DC Comics), Riza Hawkeye (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), The Swede (Hell on Wheels), Bill Weasley (Harry Potter Series), Doug Guggenheim (House of Lies), Hailey (Mozart in the Jungle), Ben Wyatt (Parks & Recreation), Homura Akemi (Madoka Magica), Uhura (Star Trek Film Series), Lt. Commander Data (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Edward Cullen (Twilight Saga), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), and Unalaq (Avatar: Legend of Korra).
Family-Oriented Center
These characters deeply care for their family (not necessarily genetic) and are often found as the grounding center. They may not seem caring like their ISFJ counterparts, but these ISTJ characters are harsh defenders of their families and are often the character others rely on as a steady constant in their lives. When this steady constant falls, many times the family does as well. They are the foundation of their family unit.
Examples: Alexei Alexandrovich Karenin (Anna Karenina), Quentin Lance (Arrow), Ross Geller (Friends), Bob Belcher (Bobâs Burgers), Ned Stark (Game of Thrones), Fergus (Pixarâs Brave), Dean Forester (Gilmore Girls), Mallory Hanson (Grace and Frankie), Maximus (Gladiator), Sophie (Howlâs Moving Castle), Bagheera (Disneyâs The Jungle Book), Theodon (The Lord of the Rings), Chloe Decker (Lucifer), Powhatan (Disneyâs Pocahontas), Sun Bak (Sense8), Elinor Dashwood (Sense and Sensibility), Fiona Gallagher (Shameless), Red Forman (The â70s Show), Edward Cullen (Twilight Saga), Elena Gilbert (The Vampire Diaries), and Maggie Greene (The Walking Dead).
Zealot
The Zealot ISTJ character is often being unwillingly controlled by their inferior Ne. They find the outer world with itâs constant change in meaning separate from their own deep, personal inner meaning is in conflict. They fear change and try to fight it with everything they have. If they admit that the world has this changing meaning outside of themselves they feel everything they believe in is threatened and are unable to cope with such conflict. They refer to their tertiary Fi for comfort and try to morally back their subjective perspective up with subjective judgement. Thereby fueling their own opinion and clinging to their personal identity, unchanging. Many ISTJ villains fall into this trope, but not all are villains. That is important to keep in mind.
Examples: Grinch (Ron Howardâs How The Grinch Stole Christmas), Alexei Alexandrovich Karenin (Anna Karenina), Claude Frollo (Disneyâs The Hunchback of Notre Dame), Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory), Javert (Les Miserables), Ross Geller (Friends), Sam Healy (Orange is the New Black), Angela Martin (The Office), Elsa (Disneyâs Frozen), P.L. Travers (Saving Mr. Banks), Dean Forester (Gilmore Girls), Lord Voldemort/Tom Riddle (Harry Potter Series), The Swede (Hell on Wheels), Nessarose (Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West Novel), Theo Galavan (Gotham), and Unalaq (Avatar: Legend of Korra).
The Cynic
The ISTJ cynics are often mistyped because they donât really believe in anything. They are often misread as ISTP to be honest. But the Cynic ISTJ is indeed, very ISTJ. They are some of the most ultimate realists, not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. They usually have life experiences of pain that has formed their perception of reality. Their dominant Si seeing the facts, not fanciful ideals. Their tertiary Fi not seeing or growing up with that feeling that they or anyone else is a special snowflake. They often are lost, without a cause, not trusting those with big ideals. They see things as they are and nothing more. They are the bluntest ISTJ filled with some of the most ironic humor. They are usually disappointed with their lot in life.
Examples: Mai (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Chas Chandler (Constantine), Helga Katrina Sinclair (Disneyâs Atlantis: The Lost Empire), Phantom Stranger (DC Comics), Gwynne (Galavant), Mad-Eye Moody (Harry Potter Series), Suzana Ayuwaza (Maid-Sama), Shikamaru Naru (Naruto Shippuden), Dinesh (Silicon Valley), and Princess Kwenthrith (Vikings).

From NASA Earth Observatory Image of the Day; February 1, 2017:
The Curious Incident of Snow in The Netherlands
It was as though a spotlight had illuminated them: a few dozen fields in Heensche Molen glowed white. Yet the snow that left a distinct patch on this hamlet in The Netherlands also left neighboring areas untouched, with the landscape cloaked in the muted browns and greens of winter.
Snow fell that January 2017 day in northwestern Europe, but not everywhere. The Netherlands and Belgium were dusted in a freckle-pattern, with white powder covering some fields, while others remained completely bare. The Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8 captured a view of this anomaly on January 19, 2017, a couple of days after the snowfall. Those white freckles were signs of a rare and somewhat obscure phenomenon.
Fog-induced snow (not a formal scientific term) typically forms next to industrial sites. Big chimneys release water vapor and other gases and particulates, which can lead to the formation of fog. It also turns out that these emissions can create snow when the weather gets cold enough.
In December 2007, a cold fog over The Netherlands started to develop into a thick stratus cloud. Wim van den Berg, a researcher for MeteoGroup Netherlands, described the event in a 2007 paper: âMixing within the fog caused the temperature to drop gradually to -4 or -5 degrees Celsius (25 Fahrenheit) throughout the cloud. The temperature decrease caused additional condensation into tiny water droplets but also ice crystals. In such a mixed cloud the Wegener-Bergeron process starts, and ice nuclei grow at the expense of water droplets with small snowflakes as a result...Locally, really large snowflakes were observed and a snow depth resulted of 3â5 centimeters (1.2â2 inches).â
That is likely what happened in January 2017, van den Berg believes. âAfter many days with fog and/or low clouds and subfreezing temperatures, on January 17 several places reported snow,â he wrote in an email. âIt was very local, mostly west of industry,â as surface wind was light easterly, âbut it did cause some unexpected slipperiness.â

⢠All snowmen look to the sky, knowing their death will be delivered by the horizon. Before dawn, their life becomes the darkest. The moment before the sun burns all. The Snowmen go mental. Kill or be killed. I only just escaped the violent puddles, the sticks and stones. The broken carrot noses. â Craig Stone ⢠And again it snowed, and again the sun came out. In the mornings on the way to the station Franklin counted the new snowmen that had sprung up mysteriously overnight or the old ones that had been stricken with disease and lay cracked apart-a head here, a broken body and three lumps of coal there-and one day he looked up from a piece of snow-colored rice paper and knew he was done. It was as simple as that: you bent over your work night after night, and one day you were done. Snow still lay in dirty streaks on the ground but clusters of yellow-green flowers hung from the sugar maples. â Steven Millhauser

With a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal. Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale they say. He was made of snow but the children know how he came to life one day. â Jack Nelson ⢠I am not my childhood,â Snowman says out loud. â Margaret Atwood ⢠I believe the Abominable Snowman may be real. I think there may be something in that. â David Attenborough ⢠I got an ant farm. Them fellas didnât grow anything. Hey, how about some celery? Plus, if I tore your legs off, you would look like snowmen. â Mitch Hedberg ⢠I grew up at the base of a mountain in Virginia, so my comfort zone is that Appalachian area, where all the dudes wear Carhartt and all the women can put on a beautiful sweater with a snowman applique and nobody raises an eyebrow. â Hilarie Burton ⢠I love âFrosty the Snowman.â My family and I like to go on a sleigh ride with a two-horse sleigh in Aspen, so we all scream different songs at the top of our lungs. I hope it doesnât scare the horses. â Mariah Carey ⢠I love Christmas. Frosty the Snowman, peace on Earth and mangers, Salvation Army bell ringers and reindeer, the movie âMeet Me in St. Louis,â office parties and cookies. â Mo Rocca ⢠I loved you when you opened like a lily to the heat; you see Iâm just another snowman standing in the rain and sleet who loved you with his frozen love, his second hand physique, with all he is and all he was a thousand kisses deep. â Leonard Cohen ⢠I remember that winter because it had brought the heaviest snows I had ever seen. Snow had fallen steadily all night long and in the morning I woke in a room filled with light and silence, the whole world seemed to be held in a dream-like stillness. It was a magical day⌠and it was on that day I made the Snowman. â Raymond Briggs ⢠Iâm glad that life isnât like a Christmas song, because if my friends and I were building a snowman and it suddenly came alive when we put a hat on it, Iâd probably freak and stab it to death with an icicle. â Matthew Perry ⢠It snowed last year too: I made a snowman and my brother knocked it down and I knocked my brother down and then we had tea. â Dylan Thomas ⢠It was the beginning of the greatest Christmas ever. Little food. No presents. But there was a snowman in their basement. â Markus Zusak ⢠Itâs easy to love the snow because at the end of every snowstorm itâs as if the world has started over. There is no dirt, no footprints, just a layer of seamless, indiscriminate nature connecting everything to everything else. Isnât that the amazing thing about the natural world? You can tear it down, you can drill holes in it, you can ignore its power with all your might, but one morning you wake up and it has selflessly given despite all of our abuse. I think Iâll make a snowman. â Andrew McMahon ⢠Jimmy had been full of himself back then, thinks Snowman with indulgence and a little envy. Heâd been unhappy too, of course. It went without saying, his unhappiness. Heâd put a lot of energy into it. â Margaret Atwood ⢠Just because you saw a vampire doesnât mean that a snowman or a Loch Ness Monster also exists. â Kumail Nanjiani ⢠Liz looks at the tissue box, which is decorated with drawings of snowmen engaged in various holiday activities. One of the snowmen is happily placing a smiling rack of gingerbread men in an oven. Baking gingerbread men, or any cooking for that matter, is probably close to suicide for a snowman, Liz thinks. Why would a snowman voluntarily engage in an activity that would in all likelihood melt him? Can snowmen even eat? Liz glares at the box. â Gabrielle Zevin ⢠Never try to snow a snowman. â Bo Belinsky ⢠Often I wish this would all be over, Liesel, but then somehow you do something like walk down the basement steps with a snowman in your hands. â Markus Zusak ⢠Part of the kick of making people laugh was doing something different. We were a rare breed â spotting one of us was like pinning a space alien, or abdominal snowman. There were maybe a hundred stand-ups in the whole country when I was doing it. â Lenny Bruce ⢠People often trust low-res images because they look more real. But of course they are not more real, just easier to fake. [âŚ] You never see a 10-megapixel photograph of Big Foot or the Abominable Snowman or the Loch Ness Monster. â Errol Morris ⢠Snowman wakes before dawn. â Margaret Atwood ⢠So Crake never remembered his dreams. Itâs Snowman that remembers them instead. Worse than remembers: heâs immersed in them, heâd wading through them, heâs stuck in them. Every moment heâs lived in the past few months was dreamed first by Crake. No wonder Crake screamed so much. â Margaret Atwood ⢠The moth settled onto the curtain and sat still. It was an astonishing creature, with black and white wings patterned in geometric shapes, scarlet underwings, and a fat white body with black spots running down it like a snowmanâs coal buttons. No human eye had looked at this moth before; no one would see its friends. So much detail goes unnoticed in the world. â Barbara Kingsolver ⢠The sun came out, And the snowman cried. His tears ran down on every side. His tears ran down Till the spot was cleared. He cried so hard That he disappeared. â Margaret Hillert ⢠The worst job I ever had was as a forensicologist for the United Nations. One time I thought Iâd come across the mass grave of a thousand snowmen, but it turns out it was just a field of carrots. â Milton Jones ⢠When I was nine years old, I wrote a short story called âHow to Build a Snowman,â from which no practical snowperson-crafting techniques could be gleaned. The story was an assignment for class and it featured a series of careful but meaningless instructions. Of course, the building of the snowman was a red herring. â Sloane Crosley ⢠When youâre coming out, you have to deal with the whole world saying âOh! Youâre an abominable snowmanâ. â Eddie Izzard ⢠Winter is the king of showmen, Turning tree stumps into snowmen And houses into birthday cakes And spreading sugar over lakes. Smooth and clean and frosty white, The world looks good enough to bite. Thatâs the season to be young, Catching snowflakes on your tongue. Snow is snowy when itâs snowing, Iâm sorry itâs slushy when itâs going. â Ogden Nash

Joeâs Weather Blog: CoolâŚcold..mildâŚcolder (FRI-1/26)
Good afternoonâŚ50 MPH wind gusts out there this afternoonâŚall in a days worth around these partsâŚalthough perhaps more common in the March/April time frame than January time frame. All this wind just dries things out moreâŚand really aside from some showers tonightâŚprobably SE of KC properâŚno real moisture is coming anytime soon. So we wait and remember the last big storm that actually delivered significant moisture to the area was back on October 21st-22ndâŚsome 97 days agoâŚ
Forecast:
Tonight: Some scattered showers may develop towards the SE of KCâŚodds favor out more towards Warrensburg>Paola and eastwards line. A cold front will be coming through the region around 9PM or soâŚand that will sweep the mildest air away over the weekend. Winds will switch to the NWâŚstill gust though to around 25 MPH overnight before dropping off towards daybreak.
Saturday: Mostly sunny and not as mild with highs in the 50-55° range. Less wind too! More of a SW/W wind at 10-20 MPH
Sunday: Mostly cloudyâŚsort of a weird day where temperatures may max out around lunch and then either hold steady or drop a few degrees in the afternoon as a push of chillier air moves into the area. There may be a few snowflakes/snow showers out there too I guessâŚsomething to follow I guess
Discussion:
I thought, in honor of FanFest this weekendâŚthat Iâd go over the climatology for Opening Day 2018âŚwhich is March 29th for the Royals here in KC. When I saw the schedule for thatâŚI âgulpedâ.
Well there is some good news about 3/29âŚyes itâs MarchâŚand we know all too well that March can be VERY fickle around these parts. So I looked at the climatology of 3/29âŚand was somewhat encouraged.
The average high that day is around 58°. With the game scheduled for 3PMâŚthatâs about the âaverageâ temperature at that hour.
The average low is 38°âŚso yes there may be frost for the VERY early tailgaters to get though
Weâve had about 9 days with highs in the 30sâŚ30 days with highs in the 40sâŚ30 days with highs in the 50sâŚ36 days with highs in the 60s(!)âŚ20 days with highs in the 70s and 5 days with highs in the 80s. I guess you can say, based on that, that thereâs about twice as good a chance of highs in the 30s than highs in the 80s
The GOOD news is that there is a 70% chance that highs will be 50°+
The BAD news is that, on average there is a 1 in 3 chance of some rain/snow that day over .01âł and a 17% chance that we get more than 1/10âł of moisture.
Here is more of a breakdownâŚ
Hereâs hoping for mild weather and no moisture.
As far as the weather a little closer in time frameâŚchangeable yesâŚbut still nothing overly exciting for moisture wanters (getting mroe and more of those) and snow lovers (itâs ugly out there).
A cold front is moving towards us this afternoon. You can see it by looking at the wind direction changes on the 2PM surface mapâŚtowards central KS/NE. Note how the winds switch towards the NW from the SWâŚthat is the front.
There is also some moisture down south racing northwardsâŚwhile our dew points are in the mid 30sâŚdew points towards E OK are into the mid 40s and that moisture may sneak into areas, especially SE of KC. Ahead of the frontâŚand because of a tight air pressure gradientâŚthe winds are howling
Very strong winds will continue through the rest of the afternoon. Please do not burn outside, as fires will quickly grow out of control.
Winds should subside around sunset. pic.twitter.com/jq5ajVOVBj
â NWS Kansas City (@NWSKansasCity) January 26, 2018
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
You can see how the clouds are forming as wellâŚthere is some mid level cooling coming into the region this afternoon helping the cause. KC in the following picture is towards the top of the image
So with the frontâŚplus some shallow moistureâŚthere may be some scattered showers developing after 7PM or so towards the SSW of KCâŚthat would move NNEwardsâŚperhaps affecting our SE part of the viewing area.
The weekend will be cooler but actually rather nice on Saturday and cooler on Sunday. Colder air filters in come Monday however and highs will struggle in the 30s. Sunday is somewhat interesting as a fast moving mid level disturbance will be coming into the area. You can really notice it when looking at the temperatures from 10,000 feet and upwardsâŚit getâs pretty cold up there pretty quickly in the late afternoon/evening. I wonder, with surface temperatures in the 40s and it being colder than average upstairsâŚIF we may be able to generate some weird showers (perhaps rain>snow) in the afternoon/evening. Worth watching.
Aside from thatâŚthere are more ups and downs coming next weekâŚhigher temperatures on TUE into WED perhapsâŚthen somewhat colder into the end of next week. There will be some nasty cold air building up in Canada and northwards that may come down after the 4th or 5th it looks like. That stuff needs to be watched⌠because while some data has the worst staying towards the Lakes and Northern PlainsâŚit wonât take much to slide it farther southwards so we may be talking more arctic air during the 1st 10 days of the month. I canât get too excited about the snow on the GFS/Canadian for next Thursday at this point. Been thereâŚdone that.
Final noteâŚletâs keep an eye on how January actually ends up. As of yesterday we dropped to only 2.1° below averageâŚand today will chop that in half perhapsâŚ
There is perception that this winter (12/1-today) has been very coldâŚbut the data is really starting to argue otherwise. What happens in FEB will make or break the colder/warmer/average winter forecasts.
The cold has been extreme on those individual daysâŚbut itâs really getting balanced out by warmer days too now.
December dataâŚ
January dataâŚ
Today will make for 13 above average days this month and 13 below average days. In December it was 14 below average days and 17 above average days. I smell a What Your Weather App Canât Tell You graphic for the weekend!

In Focus: IPO Hopes and Disappointments
It looks like the markets are finally getting it, the Airbnb IPO. After years of sitting, waiting, and hoping it's almost here, supposedly. The company filed it's paperwork to go public back in August, and recent chatter suggests that the company will go public in November or December of this year.
The last several years have been an interesting time for Airbnb. Since 2017 it's constantly appeared on lists of the top companies coming public during the year, but it never quite makes it to the public markets. In 2019 it appeared all set to go public, but the disappointing initial public offerings by Lyft and then Uber made going public a tough go in the first half of 2019. The back half of 2019 was shaped by the infamous WeWork debacle. Eventually 2019 became the year of the overhyped unicorn, and Airbnb looked to 2020.
Early 2020 would be no better in terms of going public. The global coronavirus pandemic stopped unnecessary travel in its tracks and caused a real strain on Airbnb and many entrepreneurs who rent spaces through Airbnb. At one point, the talk of Wall Street wasn't about Airbnb's IPO, it was about whether Airbnb could survive as a company through the pandemic.
The middle of a pandemic was not an ideal time to go public. The expectation was that investors would hoard their cash and ride out the pandemic, which would make securing capital difficult for Airbnb and others, but luckily for Airbnb and others, the U.S. Federal Reserve decided to prop up the markets / economy, making investment dollars a little bit easier to get a hold of during the pandemic, and Airbnb was saved.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, going back to May 2019, Airbnb was valued at over $35 billion, which was more than Hilton, $25 billion at the time and Expedia, $18 billion at the time. But in the early stages of the pandemic Airbnb's valuation took a major hit, dropping to $18 billion in April 2020.
What the Bulls Say
While the current economy isn't booming and the conditions don't appear to be their rosiest, there are still professionals making a bull case for Airbnb.
Nilay Patel, Editor-in Chief at Verge, stated to CNBC that the pandemic may have helped Airbnb reinvent their business for the better. Patel pointed to the exodus from urban areas to more rural areas in the U.S. for work and leisure. Santosh Rao of Manhattan Venture Partners noted in his interview to CNBC that travel is picking up, and travelers are looking for locations they can drive to to get away.
What the Bears Say
But not everyone is as in love with Airbnb as they once were. Some people have pointed to the company being forced to go public in a climate that is less than ideal due to expiring employee stock options, a move that would help insiders but hurt investors who purchase shares in the open market. Then there is the current economic environment, which isn't great. Also, the coronavirus is still with us, and its spread is expected to pick up as the U.S. and other parts of the world get colder.
Now is the Time
Now is the time for Airbnb to go public. The company has been EBITDA positive in the past and has the market share and mindshare for its target sector. Can you name an Airbnb competitor off hand that is not a hotel? Then there is the shift to domestic travel and getaways that people can drive to. This plays even in a pandemic, as it's not so much about the differences in regulations between places like Maine and NYC, but it's about the availability of space that is so limited in urban communities. To be able to drive to a suburban location with a backyard or near a large field where you can social distance but not feel as confined as you would in a typical suburban city is a play for Airbnb.
This may not be an ideal time for Airbnb to go public, but it is a great time for investors to see the company go public. Investors are going to see a cheaper stock price for Airbnb than they would have back in 2019 or early 2020.
There is value here. The coronavirus may be with us for several years, but it wont be with us forever. If Airbnb does decide to go public smart investors will take advantage of the situation, buying Airbnb cheap and holding it for the long term. When companies like Airbnb meet situations like a global pandemic the natural impulse is to avoid, and wait until things get better. The thing is, when things start getting better, when those data points start turning positive, by the time they trickle out to the average investor Wall Street will have already bid the stock up.
I'm not a big fan of buying IPOs or newly public companies, but I'd make an exception in the case of Airbnb.
Palantir
Palantir is another one of those companies that constantly made the top companies to go public lists over the past few years, but never quite found its way to the public markets Now it's finally a public company and currently sitting at $9.20 per share with a $20 billion valuation.
The stock went public on September 30, 2020 and hit the market at $10.00 per share, once available to the public the stock hit a high of $11.41 per share, and then slowly faded from there.
The shroud of darkness that hangs over Palantir is thick. Links to Donald Trump, the FBI, local authorities, and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) have turned many investors off. On the other side of that it's been rumored to have helped with locating Bin Laden, the company has never confirmed or denied the rumor.
The company has been in business for 17 years and has relied mainly on government contracts for its revenue but that is changing. Currently, 53% of the company's revenue comes from commercial customers.
Both Airbus and BP have taken advantage of Palantir's services, Airbus used Palantir to help it respond to manufacturing problems and is said to have helped accelerate the production of the Airbus A350. BP used Palantir to analyze drilling data, which led to increased production in the North Sea.
Wall Street and Main Street's Confusion
Another reason of the many reasons that investors haven't fully embraced Palantir's stock is because investors don't have a comparable company to link it to. Wall Street still isn't sure if the company is a low margin consulting company or a fast growing SaaS company.
Roger Monteforte, one of Palantir's early investors even stated upon his initial investment that he saw the company as a consulting firm.
Without a solid comp Wall Street doesn't know what box to place Palantir in, and so it stays away and watches from the sidelines. Even though Monteforte has now updated his outlook and believes that Palantir is a uniquely positioned SaaS.
I've Seen This Before
When Facebook went public in 2012, there were many that didn't know what to compare the social media company too. At that time on the brink of going public, Facebook was the furthest any social media company had travelled. Friendster never made it to the public markets and MySpace was private when it was purchased by News Corp for $580 million.
Many people, myself included, were confused by the Facebook business model, and Wall Street and Main Street's confusion caused Facebook to trade down to around $14 per share after it's IPO. Now trading at over $250 per share, Facebook has gained 1700% off of its post IPO low.
Similar to Facebook, what Palantir specializes in is data. Its software wrangles lots of data and makes it actionable for governments and companies. Palantir is unlike the software companies that Wall Street has become accustomed to valuing like Slack, Zoom, or Salesforce.
Palantir is niche, it's targeting companies with $500 million in revenue, which is about 6,000 companies according to a CNBC report. It's software has been described as heavy by people familiar with the company's offerings. Palantir's software is not built to attract small start-ups, that's not where the company's focus rests at the current moment.
Despite a niche focus the company has been able to grow revenue, but has been unable to turn a profit even after 17 years in business. This is another reason Wall Street has watched from the sidelines and has not fully engaged yet.
However, Wall Street has bid Snowflake (SNOW) up to a $63 billion valuation and Crowdstrike (CRWD) up to a $30 billion valuation, and both companies reported less revenue than Palantir did in 2019, and both companies have yet to turn a profit, but Wall Street knows what box to put those companies in.
Don't be Confused
Palantir is a data play. Data, data, data, we've heard the words over and over and over again since 2014 when Wall Street realized what made Facebook and Google so valuable, But now it appears Wall Street has forgotten or is still confused.
My advice is don't be Wall Street, get in early, get in cheap. let Palantir show you how profitable the gathering of actionable data for governments and large companies can be. Palantir sees a $56 billion estimated market for its Foundry product geared towards commercial businesses and a $63 billion estimated market for it's Gotham offering geared towards governments, those are pretty sizable markets. If Palantir can continue taking bites out of those combined markets Wall Street will have to notice and invest no matter what box the company eventually ends up in.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || JAMES W KEHOE CENTER: Daniel + Emily
As our first wedding of 2017, I am so happy it was Emily and Dan! Wow, what an incredible wedding day from beginning to end. Dan and Emily were married in Emily's family church. She has spent so many years at this church, growing in her faith, and I know it was so special for her to get married there! In one of my last few emails to Emily before the big day, I was a little sad for her. She mentioned how the forecast didn't show any snow so she didn't think she would get that 'Winter wonderland' look but she, in the way that she always does, was so joyful anyways and looked to positive. She could not wait to be married, snow or no snow. It was to our wonderful surprise that we got the perfect coverage of snow for their day! As we made our way outside to take pictures, this perfect, gentle shower of snowflakes started to drift down making for the most stunning pictures. (Someone take this girl to a casino.... where did she get that luck!?!? ;) ) The reception was absolutely memorable. To Uncle Randy's performance and Emily's father's touching and then absolutely hysterical run down of the beautiful drawings and cards Emily gave him over the years but he was happy to pass down Emily's data overage fees and give Dan the honor of now funding ANY and ALL shopping sprees Emily desires (Because we are woman and we live off Starbucks and Victoria's Secret.... duh... ) Jonathan and I loved getting to know Dan and Emily. Every part of the day was wonderful and we could not have wished a better day for them. I know they are moving out of state and the chance to see them again may be slim but we will keep our fingers crossed and hope to photograph them as their marriage ages in the most beautiful way <3
