Speaking of anniversary:
Tumblr media
This blog is one year old!
This stupid blog was made on a whim when I was scrolling through tumblr on Safari because Instagram was starved of new Kirby content and saw a post that said “Yolo”, and I was like “Sure why not.”
It’s sure been a year! I made many RADICAL mutuals, slightly got out of my bubble, and gained 100+ followers?!? Like I’m kinda dumbfounded ngl because I’m just kinda shit posting all over the place.
So like thank you for being you!
XD

I counted how many times I’ve drawn Kris, it’s 86 times.
Which doesn’t seem like a lot until you do the math that I started drawing Deltarune things about a year ago.
I- I’ve drawn kris an average of every 4 days…
For the whole last year…

I think Five Pebbles had a deeper relationship with Sliver of Straw than ‘If she died, then so can I!’
I was looking at the Downpour pearls on the wiki and some of 5P’s reactions to certain pearls have me thinking…

Redesign your Logo
That horrifying Corporate-Sponsored art, for Your Ears
As the title might suggest, I’ve returned recently to the masterclass of emotional manipulation we call art in Lemon Demon’s ‘Redesign Your Logo’; Subheading ‘I promise this is praise.’
But just, every second is such an excellent distillation of corporation sign art, replicable by any hand, that soulless color blot of an implied image.
There’s this incredibly uncomfortable, mechanical emotion forcing the song forward.
Like a factory floor in the industrial revolution, the endless reprint of reproduction, even and neat and country produced, labeled with a sticker, sent across the nation.
The music is entirely fake until the final speech, where violins carry a smothered melody, the message stamped down for the last big push, they push and pull out of the song for impact, but it sounds like you could reconstruct it from midi files.
The most feeling winded through is this static, cymbal crashing rip of guitar strings, between chorus and verse.
All of the main voice lines are clipped and neutral, this brand-ready positivity, an insurance solicitor and a bank hold system and the manager of every advertisement division in existence, echoed by a human voice so altered it cannot help but feel voiceless, a proxy of speech, a message without messenger.
The voice is continually constructed, every word is curtailed, self-contained, delivered like a death sentence and washing-machine instructions.
There’s also this bastardization of human voice, a cappella tones use to convey harmony that enforces that parasitic consumption of binary code consuming life and emotion and art.
And if it wasn’t clear, I really like the song, I believe all of these points are to its benefit, because it’s clearly intentional.
The song knows how discomforting this CFO, hyper-practiced, widest-demographic-without-detractor speech is. Ninety percent of the sounds are computer generated, evenly cut, perfectly even with the meter, no strange syncopation, no emotion beyond practiced customer assurance, a coloring page completed with no differing shades, all inside the lines.
All this while being increasingly difficult to listen to, it’s like a panic attack, finely packaged, like a class war, a breakdown under financial strain, a pay to win system that kills you if you can’t continue to feed it.
And all of that tension ratchets up with the end of the constant spiel, the music comes to a muted hum under the line,
‘Hunger Makes Us Human’
(everyone will see it; everything’s connected)
Whereupon the music is the only driving force, over a car-crash of a distant hum, silence enforced until the chorus ration returns, a propaganda piece to line your company statement with, ‘Redesign your Logo. Give Us all Your Money’
Obviously that’s on the nose, it’s unsubtle, but it’s nothing that hasn’t been stated yet before in the song, nothing but a line or two rephrased, more straightforward. Capitalism; Deconstructed. Op #1.
I happen to think this song is a masterpiece of stitching the intent of the lyrics into the motion of the music itself, the message of the song carried home in the sounds used to create it.
