BLAZE (+SILVER) WIZARDS OF OZ DESIGNS! :))

I love blaze and silver in my au they’re so sweet, they’re just living their best lives in the woods. They’re brother and sister with blaze sometimes taking on a motherly role for silver.

Blaze is a traveller who lives her life away from the public. She used to be a knight for eggman by his side to protect him. She had been training for it ever since she was five and on the day she was meant to become a proper knight she ran. She didn’t want to be a knight anymore and decided she wouldn’t dedicate her life to someone and something she didn’t agree with. She has a tiny bit of magic that she was born with but its only enough to make a small flame. She only really uses it to light fire to cook meals and for warmth. (also to do shadow puppets for silver) shes just living her best life ngl!

Silver was born in emerald city and caused kind of a problem at his birth as in objects being thrown around and broken, When eggman found out about this he took silver and decided that he wanted him dead. Eggman didn’t like when children were naturally born powerful, only a few with simple and small powers were kept alive and then forced into being knights to protect him. The task he assigned blaze so that she would officially become a knight was to murder silver. She just couldn’t do it, so she grabbed the baby and ran out of the city and into the woods. She prefers it there and would never go back on her decision

I love them they’re so soft and they care about each other so much, while everyone else is getting angsted they’re living their best lives.

I do love them also for a fact they parallel sonic and tails. Blaze and silver are what sonic and tails should have been if it was for Eggman, Starline and shadow. If those three didn’t come after sonic then they could have had a similar life together where they could put their past behind them and just live but its just no longer possible for them. Sonic met blaze and silver once and it broke him a bit more, he wanted to kill them for having the thing he dreamed of every night but he just couldn’t, they didn’t deserve the same fate he and tails faced.

They don’t know it but sometimes sonic watches them from a distance and pretends that they’re him and tails

Howdy y'all

So I'm finally watching season 3 of Sonic Prime and had an idea for a crack Sonadow au. I'm not even a Sonadow shipper, I just think this particular scenario would be funny.

Anyways, episode one of season three, Sonic compares the Alpha Grim Sonic robot as looking similar to Shadow. So, what if, after the events of Prime, Sonic and Shadow end up adopting this killer adopt as their kid?

Imagine, baby proofing everything but it's on the robot itself. Has those gel caps over his claws like some cat owners use. Every time it tries to kill Sonic or Shadow they're all like "Nu uh, you're not supposed to hit Dad like that! Time for time out!" Or "Good job on that knife made out of glue and macaroni noodles! I knew you'd love arts and crafts!"

And just, Alpha Grim slowly accepting his fate as a toddler robot being brought up by his gay dads. I just think it would be funny

I’m just coming to say that Sonic, just like Orpheus, does save the world/brings back spring back. But can’t save his partner, and that’s the tragedy.

The balance of the seasons is brought back to the world, and Shadow is never going to see it, just when he was starting to see how the world could be. Just like Eurydice, he has a revelation at the very end and encourages Orpheus/Sonic. They switch places

“Heh...Sonic I think I know who the ultimate lifeform is...it might be you.”

“Maria, this is what you wanted, right? This is my promise I made to you...”

Eurydice who now “Can see how the world could be”

And Orpheus who now “Sees the world as it is”

THIS. THIS IS THE PARALLEL IM TALKING ABOUT. YOU GET IT.

I love how perfectly Orpheus trying to save Eurydice lines up with Sonic trying to save Shadow in SA2. Obviously a hadestown version is a lot more tragic, but the fact that it just makes so much sense just makes this au so satisfying to me. like I’m especially a fan of eggman/hades trying to manipulate shadow to come work for him and feeding off his vulnerabilities. It just works !!

There are some rough spots I’m trying to work out with my ideas for other roles (I’m talking about the fates idk what my brain has been doing there. I thought about the chaotix for a brief moment simply because it was a group of three. I need help and suggestions) BUT because of how well the two stories align in my head it’s able to work itself out so well and I’m just. AHCK. This au is so nice. So sad and so nice

A gold crown-like band ties her feathery hair back in a ponytail, and a red sash is tied around her waist. White feathers are on her ankles, and her feet are white, bird-like talons with dustings of purple scales.

Behind Blaze is Solaris, a being with a body plan similar to Blaze's but alien, statuesque features. Cracks mark her edges, as if she is made of stone. She is primarily a pale yellow-white, like sandstone, gradating to a dark red at the ends of her limbs and tip of her tail. In the center of her chest is an empty hole, shaped like an emerald. It is pale blue. Her head is smooth and bird-like. Her "eyes" are large, angular slits of pure ruby. Three slits of blue lie under each eye, like tear drops. On her forehead is a mark like a gem split in half. The left half is pale red, the right half the same color as her eyes.

Her limbs are slender and tapering. Her hands have three claws each. Her legs end in sharp points, with no feet. Her tail is long and jagged, ending in a spade-like point. Seven red shards fan out from its tip, not connected to the tail by any physical tissue. In the same fashion, six long shards fan from her arms like feathers, and ten rays arc out from the halo-like horns on her head. Between their tips floats an oval jewel, cracked the same as Blaze's. The left side is faded red; the smaller right fragment is rich ruby.

Solaris's pose mirrors Blaze's, making it appear as if her halo and wings are Blaze's. Solaris's left claws rest on Blaze's shoulder, while her right hand cups Blaze's own. /end ID]

some fresh art for my old Rush of Flame AU, a Blaze-centric AU with lots of Rush inspiration, an almost entirely original setting, overly elaborate worldbuilding, a dash of Sonaze, for flavor. Blaze's design hasn't changed much, more the way I rendered it. Solaris's design has changed quite a bit. I wanted to make her like more inhuman, and I think it turned out really well. better look at each of them below.

as for why I drew this now, when I haven't touched this AU in at least a year... well, I was going to do an AU August Challenge, but I immediately fell badly off schedule. very badly. and so I decided that rather than go through the same struggle I did with my extremely ill-fated OCtober last year, I wouldn't try and scramble to finish the challenge but just. draw. at my own pace. when I felt like it.

no checklist. no self-imposed challenge or time limit. just drawing what I felt like, when I felt like it, and taking the time to make something I'm actually happy with rather than rushing to make something "finished". it's a novel concept and frankly? unnerving. what is this. don't like it. take me back to planners and to-do lists where I belong. /lh

“Trust me, you two will get along.” Sonic walked through the familiar town with Knuckles by his side. Honestly he was really excited their little adventure had brought them here; any excuse to go see his little bro was one he would take. Of course he was a little worried about that hunter group but he hadn’t actually seen them around. Maybe he’d get lucky.

“I didn’t think you actually knew anyone else.” Knuckles glanced around, more relaxed than usual probably due to Sonic’s laid back attitude.

Sonic turned around and started walking backwards. “Unlike some people, I’m not a total loner.” He grinned, leaning closer to Knuckles.

Knuckles shoved him away. “Yeah sure.” 

It didn’t take long for the two to arrive at the decent sized house. Sonic simply waltzed in holding up a hand for Knuckles to wait. His little bro was used to him walking in, but Sonic should tell him about Knuckles first. “Yo Tails! You around?” Sonic peeked around the house before coming to the conclusion that the fox was in his workshop. Stretching his arms he approached the door to the workshop. Mentally he counted down from three to one before rushing into the workshop and picking up one very startled fox. 

Of course it took only a moment for Tails to realize just who it was. “Sonic…” He pinned his ears down and gave Sonic a look of mock annoyance. “How many times have I told you not to do that?”

“How many times have I told you that you shouldn’t keep yourself locked up in here all day?” Sonic tilted his head and grinned. “Tell me, how long have you been in here?” Tails looked away and didn’t answer. “Thought so.” Sonic nodded as he shifted Tails to under his arm and started to walk back towards the now open door into the house. “Consider this your mandatory break time. Courtesy of your best friend.”

Tails went limp but laughed softly. “It’s nice to see you. Any particular reason you’re back in town?”

“Well… a lot’s happened since I was here last.” Sonic hummed and gently deposited Tails in a chair. “I do actually have someone I’d like you to meet with me though.”

Tails perked up. “Wait really? You aren’t playing a joke like you’ve done before right?” Tails’ excited expression changed into something more skeptical.

Sonic crossed his arms. “That was one time-”

“Twice actually.” Tails corrected with a grin.

“Ok fine twice.” Sonic put emphasis on the word. “But I’m being honest this time.”

Tails locked eyes with him for a moment before nodding. “Alright. Let me meet them.” 

“Wait here for a sec. I’ll go grab him.” Sonic winked and sped back towards the entrance. Knuckles was still standing there, tapping his foot somewhat impatiently. “Alright Knux, come on in.” Sonic waved the echidna inside.

Knuckles followed silently behind Sonic as he led him to where he’d left Tails. Once the two could see each other they locked eyes. Sizing each other up maybe. Sonic shifted from foot to foot, somewhat nervous. He’d thought Tails would like Knuckles and vice versa. What if they didn’t get along? He didn’t think he could handle that.

Finally Tails smiled, stood up, and held out a hand to Knuckles. "Miles Prower, you can just call me Tails though."

Knuckles hesitated for a moment before taking the outstretched hand. "Knuckles." He nodded.

"So how did you two meet?" Tails gave Knuckles an assessing look before turning back to Sonic. 

"Ah well…" Sonic rubbed the back of his head. Something told him that Tails wouldn't appreciate that Knuckles had tried to hunt him down when they first met.

"I was trying to kill him." Knuckles stated calmly. Sonic choked on air; he hadn't been expecting the echidna to just say it like that.

Tails was instantly alert and defensive. Things were already starting to not go as planned and Sonic had no idea how to fix it. "Really?" Tails narrowed his eyes.

"Yeah." Knuckles didn't back down from the unspoken challenge. "But I was wrong and got lucky enough for this idiot to give me a second chance."

Sonic wasn’t sure if he should be offended by that or not. Shaking his head he glanced between the two nervously. He was starting to realize how much he hadn’t thought out this meeting. Eventually though Tails smiled. “Well, it’s good to meet you then.”

“Likewise.” Knuckles grunted.

“Yeah, Knux here got it all wrong. Now he’s helping me out.” Sonic slung an arm over the echidna’s shoulder. 

Tails looked between the two, a thoughtful look on his face. Suddenly his ears perked up and a look of realization flashed across his face and he grinned. “Well I’m glad you found someone else besides me. You’re going to have to tell me what’s been going on though.”

Sonic grinned, glad the tension seemed to be gone. He happily started to explain everything about the Gaia temples, Dark Gaia, and their whole adventure so far. Tails listened without interrupting the whole time, but Sonic knew him. The fox was no doubt bursting with questions, but was waiting until he was done to ask them. Just as he predicted once he was done Tails launched several questions at him. He did his best to answer all of them, but as was typical for his best friend some of the questions were well beyond what he could answer. Knuckles simply let Sonic deal with all the questions, the jerk.

Eventually Tails nodded, satisfied. Sonic waved to the other two as he stood up. It would be night soon and he should probably get ready since he’d likely be staying in tonight. “Alright you two play nice. I need to stretch for a sec. Be right back.” He grinned. It should be fine to leave those two alone… right?

“So.” The fox turned to Knuckles as soon as Sonic was out of the room. Knuckles couldn’t read his expression, so he closed his own off in turn. “Sonic seems fond of you.”

“I have no idea why.” Knuckles huffed. “I haven’t exactly given him a reason to.”

“Sonic doesn’t really make real friends very much. As far as I know it’s just me… and now you.” Tails hummed.

“The guy is friendly with pretty much everyone we meet. How can he not have a ton of friends?” Knuckles frowned.

“Well his nighttime issues are a big part of it.” Tails twitched an ear. “But he also doesn’t just want to make friends with anyone. He wants to make sure he can trust them.” He smiled and sighed. “He might act all protective of me, but I also do my best to watch his back. I’d probably be traveling around with him if he’d let me. He let you though.”

“Yeah because of some weird magic thing that literally won’t let us be too far apart.” Knuckles gestured to his arm where the mark started fading in as the sun clearly went down.

“He would have anyway.” Tails gave him a knowing smile. “He really thinks highly of you. Don’t mess it up.”

“Wha-” Before Knuckles could ask for some sort of clarification Sonic came back into the room, now in his werehog form.

“Alright! Well since I’m stuck in here for the night do you guys wanna do something?” Sonic grinned and glanced between the two in excitement. He was probably happy that the two were getting along, he seemed to really care about Tails. 

Tails smiled brightly. “You know I’m always happy to help deal with some of that energy. I wish I could point you towards some of those monsters but I haven’t seen any here.”

Sonic waved it off. “I honestly prefer that they aren’t here. I don’t want you getting hurt.” He ruffled the fur on Tails’ head.

Tails batted his hand away, laughing. “I can take care of myself!”

“I know I know.” Sonic chuckled. Knuckles felt like he was intruding on something that had nothing to do with him. It was sort of uncomfortable but it was also sort of… nice to see Sonic acting like this. Suddenly Knuckles was grabbed and slung over Sonic’s shoulder. Tails gave him a wave from the other one. “Alright! Let’s figure out what to do.”

Tails snuggled into the fur of Sonic’s chest. Sonic had actually fallen asleep pretty fast, much faster than usual anyway. He glanced over at Knuckles. The echidna was currently pressed into Sonic’s side by no choice of his own, but he didn’t look too upset by the position. Tails really was happy that Sonic had found someone. Sure he and Sonic had a close bond but he’d always dreamed that Sonic would someday find others he could actually befriend. The hedgehog deserved to have more people he could count on. Tails was pleasantly surprised to find that Sonic seemed to have found more than a friend though, even if neither of them had realized it yet. That was fine, they’d figure it out eventually. Tails allowed himself to be lulled to sleep by the rhythmic rising and falling of Sonic’s chest.

5: Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I should, and I did for a bit before stopping. Mostly because I get shy, but I promise to try to get better about it.

6: What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably 'etched in glass,' since it centers around Vincent flashing back to an incident in Hojo's laboratory. There's also 'welcome to my nightmare,' which features Vincent losing control of Hellmasker in the midst of battle…

7: What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

'three little words.' Hands down. There's even a beautiful piece I commissioned to go with it~

8: Do you get hate on fics?

I think I got one comment that was just "uh, what," and I shrugged it off. I don't write popular enough pairings regularly enough to get hate, methinks.

9: Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. Mainly VinRei (my canon/OC pair), and it literally goes from sweet to racy. I've written sweet lovemaking, and Chaotic semi-monsterfucking.

10: Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I used to because I was in LJ roleplay communities years ago, and a lot of crackships were forged there. Vincent/Nabooru, Ban Midou/Rider (GetBackers/Fate Stay Night), angsty Dark Link & Aerith, a twisted father/daughter relationship between Akabane & Rena Ryuugu (GB and Higurashi), Kadaj and Rinoa were getting cute, and then there was the big sister/little brother dynamics of Cain and Nabooru (GodChild and Zelda: OoT)… I think I have a list somewhere of all the crackships and friendships between characters, lol

I do have an idea for a one-off crossover fight piece that I've discussed with a friend… stay tuned~

11: Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so, but now I'm feeling a little paranoid…

12: Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope. Well, not that I know of.

13: Have you ever co-written a fic before?

My late best friend and I co-wrote Zelda and Yu-Gi-Oh crackfics all throughout high school and college; never published because we did it just for fun and for our friend group, and I still have it all, including a bunch of artwork she did for them.

14: What's your all time favorite ship?

Vincent/Reilena, my FFVII canon/OC ship.

15: What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Both 'Sands of Desire' (a YGO AE canon/OC fic I was writing, and suddenly dropped; to this day I still know exactly how I would end it) and 'Bleeding Angel' (Tekken, OCs, spanned Tekken 3, Tag, and 4, but I quit writing it when 5 came out).

'Sweet Lady Luck' is the Final Fantasy VII Casino AU that I keep posting little scenes for, that I swear I will get started posting actual chapters for THIS FUCKING YEAR, because I have so much planned for it, and I love it and them so much. So that is a WIP that I WILL finish, come hell or high water.

16: What are your writing strengths?

Characterization and emotion; I think I have a pretty good grip of character personalities.

17: What are your writing weaknesses?

Sometimes dialogue or just knowing when to END a scene.

18: Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I used to be super cheesy about it (think old-school fansubs lol), now I try not to do it altogether; if it happens, the dialogue will be put in brackets to designate it as being in another language. If you can get it to work though, that's awesome~

19: First fandom you wrote for?

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

20: Favorite fic you've written?

Honestly? Right now it's tied between 'three little words' and 'when chaos and passion collide.' Both VinRei pieces, one sweet and emotional, the other smutty and emotional.

dunno where else to say it so. Kyo sonic au shit I’ve had rattling in my brain ;

- the eggman was created in a freak lab accident involving a chaos emerald; the radiation created a split personality in ivo robotnik, with the two struggling for control

- Metal sonic (prime) had a “good half” the ivo part installed- a conscience. Much like eggman, Metal sonic was plagued by contradicting directives… until, much like himself, eggman split metal in two

- sonic isn’t the Big Public Hero Number One. While he’s certainly heard of as the fastest thing alive (and Eggman’s archenemy), the freedom fighters get more recognition than him. Sonic doesn’t care but it drives eggman up the wall

- Angel island is still populated by echidnas, their Imperator being Ix. Knuckles fell from his home when he was young, and has been searching for a way back ever since

- the super special sonic search and smash squad is made up of Eggman’s three previous sonic robots; silver sonic, robo sonic, and led by mecha sonic. Though they have loyalties to eggman, they aren’t directly connected to the Eggnet like lesser badniks, only tuned into it like a radio station. It means they, most of the time, are off doing their own thing.

- sir Charles hedgehog takes in the good metal sonic after it flees from eggman, and helps repair him into shard. shard still has his combat functions, but would rather be part of rescue services like firefighters or extraction

- shadow is half-hedgehog, half-black arms. his power is unstable, and has to be held in check by his inhibitor belt. rouge is a former G.U.N. spy, and E-123 Omega is a violent cousin to robotnik’s E-Series robots. they answer to no authority, and help or harm whoever they want (though in the end, they’re ultimately a force of good)

- as I mentioned the e-series were built by robotnik (NOT eggman), and are instead learning robots meant to aid in research and sample gathering. Omega and Beta were both yoinked by eggman to create weapons, but only omega was able to escape his ultimate fate. Beta was robo-lobotomized. Gamma has learned to fight out of necessity, from Amy rose’ cousin Rob. He acts as a sniper instead of a front-liner.

- E-Merl is a lost echidna weapon that’s roamed the world for centuries. Despite being created with the capacity to destroy entire civilizations, E-Merl has a child-like personality and is easily roped into others’ schemes. The deception always ends in broken bones, however.

- G-Merl is an updated Gizoid designed by Shade. Like Gamma, he despises fighting- *unlike* gamma, he refuses to use any offensive weapons altogether. His most dangerous gadget is a taser.

- humans and anthro animals have been in contact for ages. The anthro animals (coined ‘mobians’) first called humans Overlanders, due to first contact being via crashing aircraft.

- the Black Arms are a roaming alien race, facing extinction. all they want is a home, but their way of life can be brutish and distressing. Shadow was created to be an envoy between the two worlds, but something happened to the Black Arms since then; they haven’t returned in 50 years. Shadow remains vigilant

- both shadow and Maria escaped the ark, but Maria’s disease caught up to her on earth. Shadow still holds his final promise to her. Due to being on earth for *much* longer than in canon, he’s come to understand both the good and evil in humanity. His greatest mission is to save the last living robotnik from his own alter ego.

- omega’s pissed all the time because eggman Fucked Up his reprogramming. Omega loves to make noise, be it from explosions or making actual music. He has more of a ‘bad boy’ persona than ‘DESTROY ALL EGGMAN ROBOTS’

- the chaotix are a much larger group, containing the duo of mighty and ray, alongside bomb and heavy. Knuckles is also an honorary member.

- if sonic could choose any adversary to keep personally, it’s the SSSSSS. mostly because they don’t really hate sonic, and their schemes and traps are always fun to evade.

- tails doesn’t know what pronouns are

Set in a dystopian-setting after the events of Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow has become the Black Arms Overlord—an even more powerful mutation of/than Black Doom—and currently governs over a ravaged section of the world, where lingering black arms and badniks threaten, protecting the human and mobian inhabitants.

Despite the darker thoughts that torment him, Shadow continues in his endeavor to fulfill his promise to Maria and give the people on earth a chance to be happy. Even if his rule over everyone isn’t inherently ‘peaceful’.

➝ Shadow overthrows Black Doom, although the surviving Black Arms do not listen or respond to him after the defeat of their creators by his hands. He’s still connected to their hivemind and can send out signals to them, but again, they’re unresponsive in listening to him. They’re even more volatile than before, entirely out of control. ↳ Has his own ‘Doom’s Eye’. Functions the same, acting as a second pair of eyes. It follows you around whenever you’re not in Shadow’s presence.

➝ As one of Sonic’s friends, you initially met Shadow when he was first awoken from stasis by Dr. Robotnik. The two of you have an unmistakably close bond, the hedgehog vowing to protect you.

➝ You find a pink chao egg. It’s pulsating and thrumming with warmth, yet there’s a sinister presence festering inside—it contains the future of the Black Arms. ↳ When it’s hatches, it’s revealed to be a chaos chao/black arms-hybrid. ↳ Depending on how you raise it from here, it’ll either become a Darkling-like entity destined to usurp Shadow and take over earth… or a true son to the both of you, who fights staunchly for earth.

➝ Shadow wants you to stay as close to him as possible… but you aren’t sure whether to do as he says, or to venture off with Sonic and his friends as they aspire to restore order.

Round One - Wave Three

Information about these Sallys: Both of these Sallys are from the Pre-SGW (pre-reboot) Era of the Archie Sonic Comics. Mecha Sally is probably the most familiar face of the two. Prior to the reboot, Sally sacrificed herself to protect Mobius from the World Roboticizer, which would've turned the planet into Eggman's robot slaves. It rebounded and turned Sally into this admittedly very cool-looking robot, who followed Eggman's orders, while Sally's friends attempted to rescue her. Sadly, though it looked hopeful that Sally would be rescued from this fate, the Pre-SGW Era of the comics ended before this storyline could be resolved Sallactor is yet another AU version of Sally from Sonic's zone-hopping days. She comes from the Sentai-Zone and is evil. She's also clearly a parody of some anime that I'm not familiar with, so I always felt like I never really got the joke here lol

(LONG POST) Setting the scene: The Fate of Metal Sonic...

Hey, hey, people, N.G here! I promised you fanfics and some loredumps for my MXYL AU, and here’s the first of them! My take on what Metal Sonic’s been doing in MXYL, or rather, what he hasn’t!

One of the game-changing moves that set the stage for Shadow's ascension as Mobius' power-hungry reluctant tyrant saviour was Eggman's untimely demise at the hands of Chaos Knuckles. Penders never expanded upon it, while Flynn just said Shadow stopped Knuckles instead of Sonic in the altered Light Mobius timeline and left it at that.

But what of Eggmans mechanical armies?

I figure that the final confrontation with Eggman would’ve taken place at Robotropolis, with Knuckles in his out-of-control Chaos form destroying the vast majority of Eggman’s robotic forces and their production facilities. Shadow left Robotropolis as-is, an abandoned husk of the once-great Eggman Empire.

Surviving badniks and other Eggman robots? Destroyed. Shard too. So much for that title, eh? Here’s where I pull a fast one on you.

Metal Sonic survives. Of course he does, he’s Eggman’s masterpiece, a robotic doppelganger capable of matching Sonic (and thus Shadow), copying others’ abilities in his Neo-form, and an all-around wind of destruction!

Initially a persistent disruption to Shadow’s attempt to conquer Mobius, Shadow would eventually get the jump on the mechanical marvel, ambushing Metal and taking him out as a threat. The sensible thing to do from there would be to permanently offline Shadow, remove the threat permanently, but that’s just not Shadow’s style.

Why get rid of a potential weapon, especially when it could prove useful in the future?

As far as the wider public was aware, Metal Sonic was destroyed, and brutally so, dismembered by Shadow piece by piece. A half-truth - Shard suffered such an unfortunate fate at Lien-Da’s hands, his remains powder-coated a deep blue to provide ‘proof’ for the propagandists.

In secret, however, Shadow had Lien-Da’s technicians work to restore Metal Sonic to some degree of working condition, before imprisoning Metal in the Castle Mobius catacombs inside a containment chamber designed just for him. Metal was still sentient and ultimately loyal to Eggman, after all, a weapon of last resort to be unleashed upon Shadow’s enemies when circumstances were dire.

Speaking of last resorts...

Tikal’s destruction of Castle Mobius, decades later, had the unfortunate by-product of freeing Metal from his chains, the plucky mechanical menace using the opportunity to slink away to freedom! But where would he go, now that the Eggman was no more and his empire absorbed by Shadow’s, and subsequently dismembered by Sally?

Battered and his combat systems disabled, to say Metal Sonic had been debilitated during his captivity would be an understatement. At least Shadow kept his joints lubricated and in working order once every few months, under Sally’s rule he’d been completely forgotten about! How was he to know that the world, including Sonic, believed him offline?

His turbine still functioned, albeit weakly, but it was enough to get him off Angel Island. His destination - home, Robotropolis. The flight time estimated to be several hours, that was no issue, it allowed ample time to patch into MobiusNet and absorb three decades worth of information he had been denied. It allowed ample time to start planning for his return, for the continuation of the Eggman’s legacy.

Touching down in Robotropolis a day later, Eggman’s prodigal son was met with the robotic equivalent of a massacre. Robotropolis itself was rent asunder, the aftermath of Knuckles’ fateful showdown with Eggman, and its once mirror-polished streets were littered with the rusting husks of destroyed badniks and eggrobos, left at the mercy of the elements for three decades.

Shuffling towards the site of Eggman’s former Robotropolis headquarters, Metal Sonic’s internally-calculated confidence intervals of locating any survivors was dropping. Logarithmically.

Regardless, he opened broadcasts on every Egg-Empire frequency, broadcasting a forced status-update command. Any units within the receiving range would have to respond, they were programmed to do so. Desperate times called for desperate measures, yet for the whole thirty-two minutes it had taken to traverse the abandoned warzone to the foot of the Robotropolis Egg-Quarters tower, not a single response.

Confidence interval nearing the threshold for rejecting the null hypothesis of there being survivors, Metal’s internal algorithms were close to ceasing the search, until...

“You’re late. Tardy. Long-overdue,” a voice message sent through the Grandmaster communications protocol, followed by a pause. “We have much to do.”

A voice message Metal immediately traced back to a ground-floor terminal within the Egg-Quarters. A low-level networking terminal, rather than from any known Grandmasters. A terminal that was now the last refuge of a certain AI.

Phage.

So that’s where Metal Sonic is at currently in my fan-continuation. He’s linked up with Phage, the sole survivor of the Egg-Empire’s destruction by virtue of surviving on the barely-intact intranet.

I haven’t had much planned out for these two, but I definitely have a good idea of how their interactions will be. Think of it like Masterchief and Cortana/The Weapon - not the relationship dynamic, but the physical nature of her being downloaded onto M.C’s armour. Likewise, Phage will be Metal’s on-board AI ‘companion’ for the early days as they both scrape by.

MXYL really did away with most of the villains by making Shadow the big-bad who conquered Mobius and achieved World Peace(tm), so I had to get creative in working out how I could throw some villainous factions into the mix. I don’t solely want to rely on Shadow for my AU’s villain, that wouldn’t be any fun at all!

I’m half-surprised nobody thought of pairing up Phage and Metal as a sort of twisted spin on Sally and Nicole (AND I WILL ADDRESS WHAT HAPPENS TO HER IN MXYL).
