Still Using Spreadsheets for Production? Here’s Why It’s Costing You
Spreadsheets have long been the go-to tool for small and medium-sized manufacturing businesses. They're simple, flexible, and familiar.
But if you’re still relying on Excel or Google Sheets to manage your production planning, inventory, material procurement, and job-work, you’re probably losing more than just time.
Let’s break down why spreadsheets are hurting your operations—and what you can do instead.
📉 The Hidden Costs of Spreadsheet-Driven Manufacturing
1. Zero Real-Time Visibility
Spreadsheets don’t update themselves. If your production team updates a work order and your procurement team doesn’t see it in time, you’re headed for:
Stockouts
Production delays
Missed delivery deadlines
❌ Decisions based on outdated data lead to avoidable losses.
2. High Error Rates
Even one incorrect formula or a misaligned cell can cascade into:
Wrong material planning
Inaccurate costing
Faulty procurement
And in manufacturing, one mistake often means lost hours—or entire batches scrapped.
📌 According to studies, nearly 90% of spreadsheets contain errors.
3. No Workflow Automation
Spreadsheets can’t:
Auto-generate work orders
Trigger material requirement planning
Alert for low stock or delayed job-work
Track quality inspections
You're stuck doing everything manually. The result? Slower turnaround, more rework, and wasted effort.
4. Lack of Traceability & Compliance
In industries like capital goods, auto-components, or processing, traceability and audit-readiness are essential.
Spreadsheets don’t offer:
Material tracking by batch or vendor
Quality control logs
Timestamped user activity
This leaves your operations vulnerable in audits or customer disputes.
5. Scalability Bottleneck
As your manufacturing unit grows—more orders, more SKUs, more vendors—spreadsheets collapse under the complexity.
You’ll need to:
Constantly duplicate sheets
Manually consolidate data
Rework broken formulas
⚠️ Spreadsheets scale your workload, not your business.
💡 The Smarter Alternative: ERP Built for Manufacturing
An ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system like PrismERP solves every one of these spreadsheet problems.
Here’s how:
✅ Real-Time Data Sync
All departments—from sales to dispatch—work off the same live database. No lags. No duplication.
✅ Automated Workflows
Generate work orders, job cards, purchase requests, and invoices automatically—based on rules you define.
✅ Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
Know what’s needed, when, and how much. PrismERP helps you plan materials down to the last bolt or gram.
✅ Quality Control & Compliance
Set up in-process and post-production inspections, log defects, and stay audit-ready.
✅ Centralized Job-Work Tracking
Easily manage subcontracting—track material issued, output received, rejections, and job costs.
🚀 Real Impact for SMEs
With PrismERP, small and medium manufacturers have reported:
25–40% reduction in production delays
Accurate costing and improved margins
Fewer errors and less rework
Faster decision-making with live dashboards
🔚 Final Word: Spreadsheets Were Great. Until They Weren’t.
If you’re serious about scaling, optimizing, and staying competitive, it’s time to move beyond spreadsheets. They were never designed to run a factory.
PrismERP gives you the control, clarity, and automation you need—without the spreadsheet stress.

We finally did it - a searchable Monstrous Agonies episode database, so you'll never struggle to find your favourite letters again!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every letter has its own entry, and has been given four key words to help you find the right story for you, as well as being labelled depending on whether it was part of a multi-letter story or not.
There's a master list of key words, so you know what your options are. Once you know what you want to filter by, you just make a new filter view, and search to your heart's content!
And on top of all that, each entry also links to the transcript for that episode, in Column A. These transcripts are now all available on the Monstrous Productions website, and include an embedded player so you can listen to the episode there and then.
There are 111 regular episodes of Monstrous Agonies, most of which have two letters each. That's a lot of entries! As such, some things might have slipped through the cracks as we set this all up, so if you notice any errors, please let us know!
Hopefully this database will make it easier for you to find your old favourites - or perhaps rediscover some forgotten friends! 👻🧛
Check it out via the Monstrous Productions website!

Do you happen to have a list of all of the Phantom Non Replicas from the very first one until now? Thanks!
I know I've made some lists before but I might as well make a new version. Keep in mind that some non-replicas have used the same design in different locations, and I'll try to keep those together rather than list every location.
Budapest - The first non-replica, playing on and off since 2003.
Warsaw - Began in 2008 and had a couple of revivals since, including one time in Białystok. Movie-based non-replica.
Prague - Had its first show in 2014 and a couple of revivals. I believe it is currently closed, the most recent show in Prague was the European Tour (see below).
Tallin - Began in 2015 , has also played in Tartu.
Helsinki - Has had shows and revivals since 2015, supposedly its last ever performance was in 2024. The same design was also used in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Bucharest (1st) - Had a very brief run in 2015. Its design was then used, with a ton of revamping, in Oslo, Norway in 2019; then in two Greece tours in 2020 and 2023; and now in the Middle East and European Tour.
Belgrade - Started up in 2017, I believe this version is currently closed to make way for the European tour.
Sofia - Began performances in 2019, another production currently closed as the European Tour makes its way around.
Kristianstad - Sweden's other non-replica, this one of its own design, it had short runs in 2020 and 2023.
Sydney Harbour - The rather famous outdoor production, which ran for a couple of months in 2022.
Italian Tour - Another well-known non-replica due to making use of several popular Phantom alumni in its cast. Toured Italy, and the same design was used in Madrid and the Spanish Tour and is rumored to be heading to Mexico City next.
Bucharest (2nd) - Yes, Bucharest had a totally different non-replica, because life is not confusing enough. This one ran in 2023 and had several of the same cast members as the first non-replica in Bucharest.
Kampala - The somewhat mysterious (due to lack of video or audio footage) non-replica in Uganda which ran briefly in 2024.
Restaging - I might as well include this version. The restaging has had several productions: first the UK Tour from 2012-2013, then the US Tour from 2013-2020, then the Australian Tour from 2022-2023 (which ran after Sydney Harbour, so yes, Australia also had two different productions), and is currently in Vienna.
Please note that while this list includes the restaging, I did leave out productions I consider "replica-adjacent", meaning they are close enough to the replica that the differences are rather negligible. These include: the Las Vegas production, the 25th anniversary concert, the most recent World Tour, and the most recent UK tour and West End revival and upcoming US tour.
Did I miss any? Please God tell me I did not miss any.

but we've had some shifts in management and the micromanaging is a little intense atm. like they have started to monitor if and for how long your mouse is not moving on the screen? and at some point our manager will be shadowing us for like an hour to see how we work and i'm just like oh my goooood hire more people fr fr
