I’m glad Squalo was as prominent as he was in khr. He wasn’t the leader of the varia yet we still get so much with him as a person when it comes to that group. He’s like a side character Amano actually loved a little too much , he gets to drive/kickstart so much of the Varias involvement. Honestly Squalo is a little gem and a great looking glass into that group and the vingola as a whole imo.

Also just had a passing thought but would it be fair to say he’s oddly more aligned with the Vongola and a better representation of that family than reborn? (Out of the characters we see that is) They keep reborn a mystery bc idk the whole arco stuff but Squalo kind of has his roots there as we come to learn.

This happens to Chikusa as a child. Khr has a lot of “there’s no explanation for this thing that happened so their status will now be used as an excuse despite other characters without this same background having this same thing happen” . I like to ignore their bandaid over stab wound explanations and think of other ways it can make sense. Tsuna says it’s a mindset right ? And evidently it’s always when a flame user of any kind (so far 4 that we know of) is in a do or die situation and default to engulfing themselves in flame as a last resort/ ultimate power up. Hibari is perpetually in this mindset and when he lights his ring this always happens to him. (I wonder if it’s considered the same tho ?) Lal was in danger and used this to protect herself , Chikusa was in a lab being experimented on YEARS before flame use was even an idea but they didn’t bat an eye. I’m sure he crossed that mindset in the moment given he was in the circumstances to do so. And Tsuna is fighting to save peoples lives yet again. I wanna say khr has shown us it has nothing to do with being an arco specifically but maybe body types matter bc Lal and Chikusa are mutations of a sort. But then there’s hibari and Tsuna who are just “really strong regular guys” that negate the whole idea of it unless their status suddenly makes them genetically different. Bc honestly Ryohei should’ve had this happen before either of them if that’s the case 😭.

Also why wouldn’t EVERYONE be able to reach the last stage of dying will when they all have access to that state of being ? It’s not easy getting there so everyone can’t achieve it sure but everyone could still try and eventually be able to

Lal & Tsuna are two character who we’ve seen have their entire bodies engulfed in dying will flames & when Lal originally did it they were like ‘oh its possible for her because Arcobaleno bodies are different from normal peoples bodies’ but since Tsuna did it, it makes me wonder if Lal had actually tapped into the final stage of dying will during her fight with Ginger Bread

Lovely headcanons from khr fandom today. I offer a year old ramble about illusions and how they work I’m currently thiking about again for this fic I’m writing. Oh he’s gonna be terrifying. Actually terrifying not the smoke and mirrors khr had to give us. The flames and how they work genuinely fascinate me. I think I’ve developed some pretty complex headcanons surround at least three of them currently.

Spinner just made it sink in when I was avoiding feeling anything about shiggy because he was my absolute favorite. It’s so layered to understand the LOV and have that wish that they could’ve somehow stayed together in the end. Ironically it feels like the wrong part of society is falling because we know how a hero’s journey goes. the LOV were never going to win, but rather than their downfall I wanted to see their aftermath on hero society because they raised curtain on it. It’s almost like this weird frustration that they couldn’t even get that small victory in the end , the part that mattered. Don’t let history repeat itself.

they were enemies, and mukuro used all of his skills to his advantage to win the fight, which is just the logical thing to do? and sure his methods were fucked up but so are xanxus'??

like why is reborn so hung up on mukuro?? he's a teenager that was fucked up so badly by his world he had so much ground to do what he did even if it still doesn't excuse his actions, maybe reborn should just take a deep breath and see if he calms down

I feel like Justin Briner would voice Tsuna because he has that pathetic (affectionate) anime protagonist voice

Ian Sinclair would have to voice Ryohei because he voices all my favorite anime men and also I just know he would be SO good at it

I feel like Monica Rial could do a pretty good Reborn, I'm specifically thinking of her Tsuyu Asui voice... Like that's not it but I feel like it's close. She could do it

Gokudera could have like a Micha Soulsod voice maybe?

Mukuro would be like Johnny Yong Bosch or someone like that... Like he needs to sound. How do I say this. Overly confident but in a lowkey slimy way

Going on a Bel deep dive so i can have some lore for him, very interesting so far given his near irrelevant political standing and prowess.

His self importance is at an all time high so it’s debatable if his presence poses as big of a political unrest as he claims.

Also the vague timeline of khr leaves a lot of guessing for picking the right year…going by volume release

Timing is always so weird in this manga for me. Like instead of just saying the actual years they say generation and make it seem really ambiguous and then the whole time it’s been like 3-10 years or something 😭😭.

okay so I've been rereading khr for some time and I saw this lil thing (chapter 101)

two generations ago huh. according to wiki shamal is just 35 and we know that xanxus' generation of varia is there for 8 years at least. maybe a little more. 8 or 9 I'd say.

before them was tyr's gen for some time and before that was gen that actually scouted shamal.

which means that either shamal was scouted as a teen or that in varia you get replaced very quickly. or maybe tyr was an unfortunate exception lmao

Felt like droning on about Squalo and xanxus so here’s the prior brainrot but I have to fill in the gaps

But first the start

This is about how I think xanxus views his second in command in a way. I doubt he thinks anyone is better than him but I bet he does think they were naturally afforded his opportunities and that’s fckn annoying.

Possibility of Xanxus getting (or feeling like he does) a different kind of respect from his peers. Also it’s about his perception of things not reality. But in a fun world this is the reality bc the mafia in khr is so hypocritical to me. They’re so black and white in this ridiculous way. Especially when it comes to them trying to be seen as good dmkdkdjd like yeah the dude that hired Dino to kill gokudera if he betrayed Tsuna is so good and keeping balance in the world psjdsjndnd. Also I was deep in brainrot about the state of the mafia beyond the Vongola and how peers might see them and interact with them. Unlike the boys everyone else was raised in the mafia world and that is their general world view and I’m interested in the perspective of a mafiosi that gets up and reads the gossip about other families instead of news a commoner would read. How would they view the Vongola drama from the standpoint of their norm vs what feels correct

Also I could not find the message but the last bit abt the just wanting the top spot I said something along the lines of : he is content with the name that the family has for itself, and even though he believes he’s great, and worthy and capable of leading a family like that, and absolutely should be the one in charge of that he would never go on and create it himself. He doesn’t care that way to make a family. He cares about being in charge of something that matters not making something that matters if that makes sense. He’s kind of the opposite of Byakuran in that sense. Byakuran went and built things utilizing uni and her family when he likely could have just taken over one somehow. but he likes a game and needed it made by him for him.

To me Squalo , like gokudera and Dino were raised in mafia society and probably retain a lot of their traditional values and practices. So the way xanxus and Tsuna sort of enter in to this and want things their way or question intentions and the way things are could never be him. He probably even follows and respects xanxus because of those values albeit with a little deviation, “Xanxus deserves this title because it’s what’s right” sort of way.

I liked this possibility of silent internal conflict because it’s about more than Xanxus being obnoxious but respected by him. It’s not even about whether they can stand each other or not , the dislike poses a much bigger question that’s easily hid in mere disscontempt. I like it because it offers some sort of questioning and resentment, he would never step out of line with the mafia that’s not who he is. But feeling like they are doing something he does not fully agree with and questions some aspect of is such an interesting arc to me for those kinds of characters. Maybe he likes xanxus for his drive and the fact that he should be the successor but resents him for sitting on this title kind of in his way of what was meant for him.
