Glenn Johnson. SUMMER 2000.
Why did you choose 'Waking Up'? Glen Johnson- ' "Waking Up" appealed to me because there's a resigned melancholia and a philosophical ennui to it that's matched perfectly by the banal, repetitive rhythms of the bass and drums. I think Ian always sounded like he destinedto live a terrible existence and there was no way to change it. The line, "A sky without a god is a clear, clear sky" sounds almost optimistic but the song then continues to walk the tightrope between optimism and pessimism. Piano Magic recorded a collaborative single with Low and Transient Waves in Cazimi, the studio where Disco Inferno recorded their early records with the same engineer, Charlie Macintosh. It was a depressing environment - a first floor, damp, dark studio beneath a railway bridge in East London. They recorded at night in what's called "downtime" - when the studio is not normally being used. This nocturnal recording must have had a big effect on their sound, the atmosphere of those early records. Ian said there were rats running around the studio during recording! Cazimi's been knocked down since, I think. '

Catch-up Tag
I got tagged by both @buttsmcginty and @lavender-hued-melancholy Thanks guys <3
Favorite color: Currently it's turquoise, because I recently found about the Blue Dacnis. Look at this critter! Isn't it stunning?

Credit: By Andreas Trepte - Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0
Currently reading: Butterflies in November by Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir (and probably some others I forgot about ^.^;) . I'm enjoying it so far but it's a bit... bleak. Honestly, I should have expected that, given it's an icelandic author about icelandic life.
Last song: The last one I Scrobbled was My Mother Told Me by VoicePlay. However the Gent likes to cook to music, and we had a "90's summer playlist" running, so in actually my last song was probably something from the BackStreet Boys or Aqua.
Last series: Currently watching through Castlevania. I usually get ratty about watching vampire things, because their so samey and tame, but anime vampires just kinda hit different. Also the MC being voiced by Richard Armitage doesn't hurt ;)
Last movie: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. IDK, I was feeling nostalgic I guess. I poured myself a 4-shot of rum, and coincidentally finished the glass just as Jack says "but why is the rum gone?" XD
Sweet/spicy/savory: Right now, sweet. I picked up a cold in Denmark, so my tastebuds are shot and sweet is all I can taste.
Currently working on: I'm writing two Starbound WIPs. The first (almost finished) is about a Greenfinger telling her clan a story using pheromones; the second (just started) is about being stuck on a desert island and all the things you can do with pineapple.
Tagging: YOU! (I still don't have a general games tag list, so like, if you see this and wanna play, go for it)

About
Disco Inferno was an English experimental rock band active in the late 1980s and the 1990s. Initially a trio of guitar, bass, and drums performing in an identifiable post-punk style, the band soon pioneered a dynamic use of digital sampling in addition to standard rock instruments. While commercially unsuccessful during their existence, the band is considered to be a key post-rock act.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco_Inferno_(band).
Starbound is a digital artefact whose first version was created in the spring of 2000 (Starbound 1.0), a second version in September of the same year, Starbound 2.0, and the latest version, Starbound 3.2 in July 2001 (http://starbound.atspace.com). They were designed with an old version of Macromedia Flash that I don’t have now. Many of the original files are lost (for the moment) among CD-roms and outdated computers.
Starbound was created for Macromedia Flash, an obsolete technology with no browsers to support it and no technical support since 31 December 2020. (link).
Starbound has been hosted since 2006 on the oldest and no longer supported atspace.com server, whose accounts are no longer accessible and whose only available options are to disable it or leave it as is.
Starbound is an unofficial Disco Inferno tribute site. I am not directly related to any member of the band or any of the labels that released their work. During the years when I released the different versions of Starbound I was contacted by different people related to the band: Paul Willmott, Ian Crause, Glenn Johnson and Daniel Gish. And others who were simply fans of your music as I was: Jeff Beckett, Jacques Granger and Jason Witcher. Thanks to all of them.
Starbound is up and running. You can use this flash browser: https://github.com/radubirsan/FlashBrowser/releases/tag/v0.81 . Surprisingly everything works except the download files that were hosted on another server.
Starbound 4.0 is the archive of all the information that is available in Starbound 3.2 plus other documents that came into my hands those years and some others that I can find. My email is still rephlexe(at)hotmail(dot)com .
