Currently Craving: Okay, so the one in the last one made me want oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. But also I'm craving the burritos my work makes. Luckily I can get one for lunch!

Last thing you googled for writing purposes: Pretty sure it was the history of elevators. I was pretty sure that elevators werre around for all of the 1900s anyway but needed to make sure. However, looking it up reminded me that elevators would have operators.

Last Movie: I don’t watch very many actual movies. I prefer to watch shows since one episode isn’t much of a time commitment and has a clear point where I can break away. I did watch Howl’s Moving Castle (a long-time favorite. love the book too) a few weeks ago.

Last Song: Ash Like Snow by The Brilliant Green

Currently Reading: Haven't been doing as much reading as I would like. Sleep deprivation has been hitting me hard and I try to reserve the last of my brain cells for writing. I’ve got @authorlaurawinter‘s The Bones of Crystal Sand on the back burner and I sometimes listen to Tolkien’s Unfinished Tales on audiobook. I love hearing Tolkien read out loud. It really brings out just how gorgeous and poetic his prose is.

Currently Watching: Been watching OG Law and Order, which is a long-time favorite of mine. I haven’t watched it in years because it doesn’t stream anywhere. My ISP recently started including a free subscription to NBC’s Peacock streaming service though—the one place it does stream. I’ve been taking full advantage of it. The episodes are 45 minutes though, so when I don’t have time to watch a long episode I watch an episode of My Next Life as a Villainess instead.

WIP Update: Like I said I haven’t had much brain lately so writing has been slow. I had several weeks where I didn’t write much at all. I was feeling really motivated last week, though, and got a whole chapter done. It ended up being two chapters because it was pushing 6k words so I split it into two. I am pretty happy with how these two chapters are turning out. I still need to make some things Worse, but the character interactions are a lot better and I’m pretty excited about it.

Current Mood: tired. Always tired. Got a lot of things on my plate this week so I’m also feeling a little stressed. It’s not so much that I have a lot of work to do but I have a lot of little things that I need to remember.

Favorite color: Currently it's turquoise, because I recently found about the Blue Dacnis. Look at this critter! Isn't it stunning?

Currently reading: Butterflies in November by Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir (and probably some others I forgot about ^.^;) . I'm enjoying it so far but it's a bit... bleak. Honestly, I should have expected that, given it's an icelandic author about icelandic life.

Last song: The last one I Scrobbled was My Mother Told Me by VoicePlay. However the Gent likes to cook to music, and we had a "90's summer playlist" running, so in actually my last song was probably something from the BackStreet Boys or Aqua.

Last series: Currently watching through Castlevania. I usually get ratty about watching vampire things, because their so samey and tame, but anime vampires just kinda hit different. Also the MC being voiced by Richard Armitage doesn't hurt ;)

Last movie: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. IDK, I was feeling nostalgic I guess. I poured myself a 4-shot of rum, and coincidentally finished the glass just as Jack says "but why is the rum gone?" XD

Sweet/spicy/savory: Right now, sweet. I picked up a cold in Denmark, so my tastebuds are shot and sweet is all I can taste.

Currently working on: I'm writing two Starbound WIPs. The first (almost finished) is about a Greenfinger telling her clan a story using pheromones; the second (just started) is about being stuck on a desert island and all the things you can do with pineapple.

Last movie: Don't Look Up, very fun but also sad, I didn't feel the 2+ hours at all.

Last Movie: This isn't the last movie I watched, but it is the last one I actually sought out by myself--The Batman. The one with Robert Pattinson. And I watched it strictly because of Tumblr going nuts over it. I was not at all disappointed, honestly. I think it was a little too detailed for me to fully understand it on first watch, but I just... you guys, the arc of him going from "I am Vengeance" to "I am Hope"? I.......... That's Batman as he's supposed to be, reaching out his hand to pull survivors from the rubble. Ooooughh I could write a thesis about Batman

Last Song: Legendary by Welshly Arms since I was doing an OC playlist thingy. This one's on Eleni's playlist.

Currently Reading: I'm reading The Curse of Broken Shadows by Laura Winter (@authorlaurawinter) during the day and Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson at night. My thoughts on TCoBS: basically I thought I would fall for Elias, but then Cason did the glare-y thing and I essentially threw myself down the stairs for him. Likewise with Kelsier in Mistborn. You can't trust me with intense, scarred dilf characters. You just can't.

Currently Watching: Brooklyn Nine-Nine, I guess? I watch it while I eat. I'm on season 3. I've been looking to get back into anime, too; Spy x Family looks good.

WIP Update: WARRIOR is currently less than 1k words long :( I was 30k into it and had to scrap it, so I'm starting over. I'm much happier with the new opening, though. It's just that I won't be able to respond to Word Find tags for a while.

Current Mood: Hopeful. My dog is in the hospital, unfortunately, but he should be able to walk again within 6-8 weeks, and I think I found the source of my brain fog (the very evil gluten). Things are looking up.

Favourite Color: Crimson against dark Evergreen (holly & berries - it's Xmas soon, so I'm getting in the Spirit)

Currently Reading: The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett (allegedly - I haven't picked it up in weeks)

Last Song: White Rabbit by Egypt Central (I was doing chores and needed heavy beats)

Last Series: LEGO City Adventures (s4). Don't @ me. Sometimes you just need to watch two lego kids run around and save their city for a school project.

Last Movie: Six String Samurai (1998) - a rewatch. I still love this weird surrealist take on the post-apocalyptic genre and the personification of music through the embodiment of people who look like an amalgam of each genre of rock.

Sweet/Savory/Spicy: Currently eating toast sprinkled with "hamburger salt" I picked up in Iceland (country), so it's very umami with a hint of chilli and garlic.

The biggest misconception in the bsd fandom ever to me is people constantly portraying Atsushi as someone who trauma dumps excessively when he canonically barely talks about it at all.

The entire point is that Atsushi does not talk about his trauma he’s just constantly thinking about/reliving it. He can’t escape the memories of his past so he tries not to acknowledge them.

He only mentions it when asked, either directly or when someone asks him to explain himself.

Atsushi doesn’t even give a cohesive explanation for what he saw while under Dogra Magra, he just apologizes to Haruno and Naomi.

If Lucy hadn’t had her whole “you’ve never suffered the way I have” spiel then I doubt even the audience would’ve gotten to find out about his scars

If Akutagawa never asked him how it felt for the orphanage headmaster to die Atsushi would have never told him that he’s been hallucinating.

In the omake where Kyoka asks him why his hair is like that it’s clear he wouldn’t have told her that unless she had asked.

In 55 minutes Atsushi very briefly mentions sleeping on a dirty floor somewhere to Kunikida because he was trying to explain and justify his behavior.

And the thing is that there are scenes that implies that the other characters see Atsushi behaving strangely and are visibly confused because they do not understand what’s wrong with him.

Remember, we as an audience get to see things about characters that the main cast doesn’t. Just because we see into Atsushi’s mind doesn’t mean the other characters know what’s going on in there.

Also little footnote here that I think the scenes with Lucy and Akutagawa in specific are probably references to the moon over the mountain but I digress
