Dream Hunters Chapter 14: First Four
HAMMER IS HAVING A HARD TIME to land a blow to Torai. Not only is Torai quick, but he could also fly for a short time and short distances.
When Torai is up on the air, he would use his Thundercloud power to strike Hammer with lightning. Hammer manages to dodge and block the lightning though with his hammer.
“Damn brat! Stop flying and fight like a man!” said Hammer who is already frustrated.
“Why don’t you fly over here and fight like an ability user?” Torai mocked.
“Hammer!” shouted Shakrsfin. “I could use a hand here!”
Sharksfin is still fighting Daisuke with his special fin blade. His fin blade is sharp enough to cut through concrete, but he is still unable to land a fatal blow to Daisuke. Thanks to Daisuke’s wooden arm, any attack that Sharksfin release only lands on Daisuke’s wooden arms.
“I will not be defeated by some elves again!”
Hammer charged Daisuke. Torai is striking him with lightning, but he was able to block them. When Hammer is already at the striking distance, he tried to smash Daisuke from behind. But Daisuke caught the hammer with his right wooden hand.
Sharksfin tried to slash Daisuke while he was occupied with blocking the hammer of Hammer, but Daisuke caught the blade with his left wooden hand. Daisuke then broke the blade and crushed the hammer.
“Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!” Sharksfin and Hammer were astonished.
“What does even an elf doing here?!” said Sharksfin.
“It doesn’t concern you. Now, just surrender quietly.” Said Daisuke.
“Like I will!” Sharksfin took two runestones that became two fin daggers. He attacked Daisuke, but Daisuke simply sidestepped and tripped Sharksfin, bumping with Hammer.
Daisuke then punched the ground, and from where Hammer and Sharksfin is standing, a gigantic cherry blossom tree emerged, wrapping around the two.
“For the man who kidnaps men and children, you are a disappointment.” Said Daisuke.
Sharksfin is struggling from the tree he got entangled with. “Damn it! Damn it!”
From the distance, Sharksfin and Hammer saw the other ships of Sharksfin blow up. Sharksfin tried to struggle even more, but Torai have had enough of him.
Torai then created a massive thundercloud, then released a lightning with roaring thunder that hit the tree, frying brothers, and scattering the cherry blossoms all over the harbor.
The battle at Port Royale is now over. United Alliance took all the Great White Sharks and Fishbone Hunters in custody. The fishermen tried to save the remaining fishing boats that are not burning.
Daisuke walked towards Raijin and Riku, who are sitting at the harbor, looking at what remains in Raijin’s boat.
“Hey Raijin.” Said Daisuke as he sat beside Raijin.
           Raijin looked up. “Oh. Daisuke.”
“I’m sorry about your boat. We know how much it means to you.”
“Yeah. This is my fault. I should have not attacked that Sera in the first place.” Riku interject.
Raijin sighed. “Well, at least I have no debt to pay any more. It’s not like I would still pay those loan sharks now that they are in custody.”
“Heeeey!” Jack shouted, paddling his lifeboat towards the three.
“Jack! Where have you’ve been?” shouted Riku.
           “Well, long story.”
Jack went out of his lifeboat to join the three and told them about going near the headquarters then decided to join the U.A. fight the Fishbone Hunters on the sea.
“Wow. It’s great that they’ve let you join them on their warship.” Said Daisuke.
“Well, I told them I’m a power user so I could help them.”
Torai went towards them and sat with them. “What’s going on, guys?”
“Just, sitting.” Said Daisuke. “By the way, these are Riku, Jack, and Raijin. Guys, that’s Torai.”
They exchanged greetings as Daisuke introduced them.
“Thanks to you guys we are able to defeat those loan sharks and hunters quickly.” Said Torai. “But, I never thought that elves could do so much damage.”
All of them simultaneously looked around and saw the trees and plants that scattered all over the place.
“Hey, that’s Riku’s and Daisuke’s doing. I was fighting at the sea.” Jack said.
“Hahahaha! That’s okay. But we could use a hand fixing the streets and making fishing boats for the victims.”
           Everyone agreed.
Three days later, the harbor of Port Royale was fixed. Daisuke provided more woods to be used for the fishing boats of those who had their boats destroyed because of the explosion. Although just a temporary replacement, the shipwrights, with the help of Boris’ knowledge in imbuing ordinary objects with magic, managed to make good fishing boats that could withstand stormy seas and are even fireproof.
Larger warships of United Alliance came to pick up the hunters and loan sharks to be sent to Union Gates, an island prison between the continents of Aria and Montagna.
Daisuke, Riku, and Jack are at Maelstrom Tavern, celebrating with the fishermen for the victory three days ago.
“I never thought that our stay here will be extended.” Said Riku.
“Yeah. But at least we get to drink good ales again.” Jack said as he chugged down his mug of ale.
“So, what are your plans now that you’re free from the debt?” Daisuke asked Raijin who was staring at his mug.
“I’m not really sure. I guess I’ll just become and ordinary fisherman.”
Riku finished her mug of ale. “I was thinking. If you don’t mind, we could have someone who is knowledgeable here in Aria.”
“Of course. Why not just join us? Besides, it’s Riku’s fault why your boat got destroyed ---”
“Hey! That’s uncalled for!” Riku protested.
“--- so, Raijin could join us to help go to Sicilia, then we could also pay him for his boat.”
“Good call. He could use the money as well to get new electric weapons.” Daisuke added.
“Well, I could use the money. I do enjoy the life as a fisherman. Maybe I could even get better tools to catch different kinds of sea monsters. That’s my dream after all: to catch different sea monsters around the world.”
“Then it’s settled! Raijin, welcome to the party!” Daisuke yelled.
The four of them cheered and celebrated the new addition to their adventures.
The three larger warships that came from Union Gates were led by a powerful, veteran U.A. high ranking officer named Bolt.
After Torai contacted the United Alliance Aria Main Headquarters, they decided to send Bolt, who was previously assigned to monitor the activities of Fishbone Hunters. Bolt and his men were escorted to the meeting room personally by Torai.
“Captain Torai. Thank you for having us.”
“Please, don’t mention it, Rear Admiral.”
“Well then, let’s get down to business. I believe there is more than just handing us the Fishbone Hunters.”
“Yes. A colleague of mine who is a member of the elite group Chasers told me that an avatar is here in Port Royale.”
The crew were astonished, even Bolt, to the words of Torai.
“Wait, are you positive to this intelligence?”
“Yes. There’s no reason for my source to lie regarding an avatar. The avatar is an elf named Daisuke, and he is the avatar of the Wood Ishavara, Ariyani.”
“Have you seen him use his avatar powers?”
“No. He simply used normal elven powers to create trees when I fought with him three days ago.”
“Sorry, but I’m a bit skeptical. May I know the name of your source?”
“You may look him up on our database. His name is Jack. Jack Thornwood. An elf from Maria Island as well.”
Bolt tried to recall the name Torai mentioned. Then he remembered something oddly familiar.
“Thornwood? Don’t tell me he is related to Knave Thornwood? A member of Chasers?”
“That’s correct. Knave is the older brother of Jack. Jack joined the Chasers to find his brother whose status is MIA after a battle against the Eclipse Hunters two years ago at Yamakabe’s outer wall.”
“Tell me, why would this Jack give us a valuable information regarding an avatar? His own kind even. And why not just hand over the avatar?”
“I guess it’s like you said, I guess he is torn between being of the same kind and being part of United Alliance.”
Bolt thought about it. It is an opportunity for them to catch another avatar. But causing another incident in Port Royale might tarnish the image of United Alliance.
Torai told Bolt more about what Jack told him. He told Bolt about the reason why the elves are in Aria mainland, about the strength and weaknesses of Daisuke, and route of the journey Daisuke has decided.
“We cannot act without more information. If what you are saying is true, then kindly tell this Jack to keep in touch with us and keep an eye to this Daisuke. When the right time comes, we will act.”
           “Duly noted, Rear Admiral.”
The meeting continued to evaluate if Torai will be given more manpower in Port Royale. They talked about other topics, and after the meeting, Bolt and his crew left Port Royale to take the Fishbone Hunters to Union Gates.
The next day, Daisuke, Riku, Jack, and Raijin finally bid farewell to Boris. The fishermen and even Mr. Manta also gathered in Maelstrom Tavern to thanks the elves and say goodbye.
As the four of them walked out of the alley to town center, Torai, with a couple of U.A. footmen greeted the quartet.
“Hey guys! I heard you are all leaving today, so I decided to bid farewell.” Said Torai.
“Torai! Thanks for coming. And thank you for letting us stay here.” Said Daisuke.
“Umm, here, take this. It’s just some rations of United Alliance, designed to last for years. I’m not sure where you guys are heading, but having emergency foods when there’s nothing to buy or hunt could help.”
“Thanks, we’ll use this wisely.” Jack received the foods from Torai. He looked at Torai and nodded.
“Very well, we still got to patrol the harbor and keep our fishermen safe. Have a safe trip, guys.” Torai waved as he left the quartet.
After saying goodbye to Torai, the quartet begun their journey.
“Well, from here to Sicilia, it will take at least four weeks on foot.” Said Raijin.”
Daisuke opened his book to see the map of Aria. “Well, we can’t walk straight through it. There are mountains and uncharted forests. And a wide river here. Should we just follow the road?”
“Yeah. So which country is the nearest?” asked Riku.
“That would be Colosseum Empire. A kingdom known for their gladiator fights.” Said Daisuke.
“Then from here to Colosseum Empire, that would be a day and a half. Still a long journey.” Said Raijin.
“Well, it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.” Jack claimed.
And so, the quartet made their way to their next destination: The Colosseum Empire.
--- End of Port Royale Arc ---
On an island called Prologia.
“Attention everyone, the general of United Alliance Aviation has arrived.” Sounded the P.A.
From the large airship came down a man with salt and pepper hair and braided long beard. He is wearing an all-white long sleeves and coat with gold necktie, white slim pants and white shoes. He is also wearing a gold-colored sunglasses.
The man was greeted by United Alliance footmen and three Chasers.
“Sir Zeus, we welcome you here in Prologia.” Said a woman who has red long hair and is wearing a red blazer on a white shirt, red pants and a low-cut shoes. She and the other Chasers bowed to Zeus.
“Oh please, no need for formalities, Raya.” Said Zeus smilingly. “Please everyone, at ease.”
“Sir Zeus, what made you come here personally in Prologia?” asked one of the Chaser. He has a large build, dark skin, and was wearing a green tank top, camo pants, and military boots.
“I heard you managed to finally control them, Bivon.”
Bivon and Raya exchanged gazes “Ah. Yes, sir. The avatars of Vakura, Indaya, and Yahima are finally under control.”
“Did we lose any men during the apprehension?”
“Lucky sir, we didn’t. Luna managed to cast her powerful healing spells that healed most of our men, even those with fatal wounds.” Said Raya.
           “Good thinking, Luna.”
“I am just doing my job, Sir Zeus.” Said Luna who bowed her head again. She has a long black hair with a hint blue and violet. She is wearing a magical blue and violet linen robe.
“So, shall we see the avatars you’ve got?”
The four of them walked towards the building. They continued down on a certain floor where the strongest hunters that were caught by United Alliance are imprisoned.
At the end of the hall, two guards opened the gate. As they entered a wide chamber, they saw three people encased inside a crystal-like object.
“So these are the avatars. You guys must have struggled to control them.”
“It wasn’t easy.” Said Bivon. “They all transformed into their full Ishvara form.”
“Melody did most of the job actually.” Said Luna. “I guess the avatars, even in their Ishvara form, struggles with people who have reached enlightenment.”
“Enlightenment. Quite rare for anyone. Are you enlightened, Raya?”
“Yes. But I haven’t mastered it yet.” Replied Raya. “Melody has been enlightened ever since she was a kid. She really is a powerful Chaser.”
“Very well. Continue to experiment on properly controlling these three. I don’t want any incident to happen that will backfire against us when we use them.”
“Yes sir. We’ll make sure that these avatars are at your disposal.” Said Bivon.
“You guys did a great job. I am sure that those at the throne will be proud of you three once they’ve heard the news about your progress. Anyway, I have to go. I still have to meet Hades and Poseidon.”
Raya, Luna, and Bivon saluted to Zeus. Zeus then turned into a lightning and quickly disappeared back to his airship Olympia.

Dream Hunters Chapter 13: Small Victories
TORAI IS A POWER USER just like Jack and Daisuke. He inherited his power from his mother who used to be a United Alliance captain as well. But during a battle with treasure hunters that tried to invade a certain country in Aria continent, his mother was fatally wounded and died.
He vowed that he will never forgive any treasure hunters and he will hunt down every single one of them that will try to enter Port Royale for as long as he is stationed there.
His power lets him create thunderclouds. Using his power, he could propel himself to fly short distances and produce lightning. And although he is only eighteen, he became a United Alliance Navy captain due to his power, strength, and leadership skill.
“Alright, here we go!” Raijin held Jack as he flew towards one of the enemy’s ships. The hunters tried to shoot them down as they got nearer, but either Jack blocked the ammunitions or Torai would dodge them.
Torai and Jack landed on the nearest ship. “You go ahead. I’ll take care of this.”
“Keep safe!” Raijin flew again, leaving a scorch mark from where he was standing.
“Always the flashy entrance and exit.” Said Jack. “Alright boys, show me what you have got.”
Jack activated his power and created his signature Jackfruit mace. Although he was outnumbered, he still charged the hunters on the ship. He simply dodges and blocks the hunters then counters with his mace.
The other ship of the Fishbone Hunters is already at the harbor. Daisuke and Hammer are still exchanging blows when the captain of Fishbone Hunters, Sharksfin, and his men landed.
“Gyahahahaha! At last! It’s time to take over Port Royale!” Sharksfin claimed.
Hammer backed off from Daisuke and joined Sharksfin. “What took you so long, brother? Those elves got Sera!”
“Elves?! How many elves are there?” asked Sharksfin.
“Two. But that male elf looks weird though.”
Sharksfin ordered his men. “You guys, join the fight! Assist the Great White Sharks!”
The Fishbone Hunters roared as they tried to engage the U.A. footmen.
           “Great. More enemies.” Said Raijin.
Daisuke joined Riku and Raijin. “Those hunters. They are the ones who attacked our village years ago.”
“Yeah. I remember. The Council said they retreated though.” Said Riku.
“Riku, Raijin, can you handle those small fries?”
“I think Riku can handle them. I’ll just deal with the Great White Sharks lackey and help the footmen.” Raijin immediately headed towards the fight between the footmen and lackeys.
“What?! Ugh. Fine.” Riku resigned as she prepared her magic spell.
“Then I’ll leave them to you. I’ll deal with their captain.” Daisuke used his power to launch himself to the air towards Hammer and Sharksfin who are further at the back.
Daisuke and Torai landed at the same time. Torai is surprised to see Daisuke again now that he knows that Daisuke is the avatar of Ariyani.
“Oh! Hey Daisuke. It’s good to see you again.” Greeted Torai.
           “Likewise.” asked Daisuke.
“So, how do you want to handle this?”
“I’ll take care of the captain of the hunters.”
           “You know him?”
“Not personally. But he attacked our island years ago.”
“OK. Then I’ll deal with Hammer.”
Daisuke charged Shakrsfin. Hammer tried to intercept him, but Torai released a lightning from his thunderclouds.
“We’ve never dealt with you Great White Sharks since you really haven’t done anything to hurt anyone before. But siding with the hunters is a wrong move.” Said Torai.
“Don’t get too cocky just because you are an ability user.” Hammer charged Torai, blocking every lightning attack with his magic-imbued battle hammers.
Meanwhile, Daisuke begun to charge Sharksfin with his wooden arms.
“You look like a human for an elf!” said Sharksfin as he deflects Daisuke’s attacks.
“I wasn’t really looking forward to meet you. But since you’re already here, I’ll make sure you’ll pay for what you did to Cobalt!”
“Hmph. I remember that kid. A useless one!”
Daisuke and Sharksfin continued to exchange blows, occasionally landing one to two hits each.
Only a few remaining Great White Sharks lackeys are standing. Those remaining are the strongest among the lackeys. They were able to fight multiple footmen at once. Other lackeys helped the fainted ones.
“Hey! I’m not done with you guys yet!” Raijin charged the remaining lackeys.
Using his electric tonfa, he managed to tase the lackeys. He would block and hit his enemy with his tonfa, and when he sees an opening, he would tase them with the electric end.
Soon, more Great White Sharks lackeys arrived. The U.A. footmen are now outnumbered. Most of the U.A. members are still stationed at the headquarters to guard and others are at the warship dealing with the Fishbone Hunters.
“Damn it! Where these guys did came from.” Said Raijin.
Raijin and the footmen were pinned down the harbor. The lackeys surrounded them with no way to run. Behind them are the burning boats that the first group of lackeys destroyed.
“Hahahaha! You’re all done now!” said one of the newly arrived lackey. “Men, slaughter them!”
But as soon as the lackeys tried to attack Raijin and the footmen, fishermen came running and shouting led by the dwarf Boris.
“No Great White Sharks will be left unscathed!” shouted Boris. He took a runestone from his pocket and it turned into a black battle hammer with red gemstones. “For Port Royale!”
The fishermen, armed with just about anything, charged the lackeys.
           “Alright! Footmen, charged!” shouted Raijin.
The footmen shouted like barbarians as well and charged the lackeys.
It was a total mayhem at the harbor.
Raijin fought his way through the lackeys and met with Boris.
“Hey! I never knew you could still fight!” said Raijin.
“Hohoho. I never had this much fun since I came here.” Boris laughed as he smashed a lackey with his hammer.
“We better deal with these lackeys quickly. There are still hunters over there!”
           “Lead the way, lad!”
Riku did not have any problems with the Fishbone Hunters. And that did not stopped her from having fun herself.
Using her power, she chanted another magic spell. “Rosaeus Armatura!” her body was then wrapped with rose plant like a medieval body armor.
After the completion of the armor, she created a rose whip and rose shield. The hunters was shocked at first, but they continued to attack Riku.
Riku blocked the hunters’ attack with her shield. Then countered with her rose whip. He managed to wrap a leg with the whip, then tossed the unfortunate hunter towards the other hunters.
The hunters were unable to get nearer.
“What? If you guys will come to me, then I’ll go to you!”
Riku tossed her whip and shield, then charged the hunters. “Germinio Phrenesia!” Rose plants suddenly grew all over the place like a wave. Those who are unlucky got wrapped around with the thorny stem. The spell Riku used almost depleted her mana that she was unable to maintain her rose armor.
Riku is breathing heavily after using a mana-draining magic spell. “So this is how Daisuke feel when he overuse his power. Not bad.”
Jack did not have any problem either with dealing with the hunters on the other ship of Fishbone Hunters.
He destroyed most of the ship --- the masts, steering wheel, and even the rudder --- so that it may not continue to sail towards the harbor. Then, he created trees whose roots blocked the cannon windows and even wrapped around the cannons.
“Damn it! Why is there even an elf here?!” shouted one of the hunters on deck.
“Attack that elf all at once! His just one elf!” shouted another.”
But even with the number of hunters on the ship, Jack simply dodged them and destroyed every part of the ship.
When he saw that the ship was completely useless, he went to the second one. He abandoned the ship he was in and went to the other ship that is still firing the cannons towards the warships of U.A.
“This is some tiring task.” Said Jack who is out of breath.
He simply repeated what he did on the other ship and signaled the warships. He took a lifeboat to get away from the two Fishbone ships as fast as he could. When he was far enough, the warships closed in then fired their cannons. Soon, the enemy ships are nothing but wreckage.
Jack looked at the ships as they burned down and capsize. He saw the remaining hunters jumped into the water. How unlucky, Jack thought. Two of the hunters’ ships were destroyed as fast as they came here on Port Royale.
He looked around the harbor and saw the ongoing battles. He saw a cherry blossom tree, obviously the handiwork of Daisuke, Then, out of nowhere, a thundercloud appeared. In a few seconds later, a lightning strikes the tree, thunder roared loudly, and the cherry blossoms scattered.

Dream Hunters Chapter 12: Brawl at the Harbor
THE EXPLOSION WAS HEARD almost all over Port Royale. Riku and Raijin was already at the town center, waiting for Daisuke and Jack, when they heard the explosion.
“Woah, what was that?” asked Riku.
“I think it came from the harbor.”
“Should we go and see what’s going on?”
“Heeeey! Raijin!!” a man called out to Raijin.
“Hey, Yura. What’s going on? Why are you running?”
The man named Yura ran towards Raijin. “The sharks! They’re at the harbor!”
           “Sharks? What sharks?” asked Riku.
Yura took a deep breath. “The Great White Sharks. They are at the harbor looking for you. Then they went to your boat and destroyed it!”
Raijin’s heart sank as he heard what happened. He was confused as he did not do anything to anger the loan sharks. He felt saddened and furious at the same time.
He remembered the time when Boris showed him Kaminari for the first time. It was already old and creaky back then. He couldn’t remember any memories with his parents, but losing Kaminari was a hard blow to him.
“This is my fault. They must have thought that you are with me when I kicked that fish brain.”
“They’ll pay for it.” Said Raijin. He took his tonfas from his side and ran towards the harbor.
           “Raijin! Wait!” Riku shouted.
As they reached the harbor, they saw thirty, maybe forty members of Great White Sharks, and the brothers Sera and Hammer. All of them are armed, from simple swords to hand-held cannons.
“Oy Raijin! It’s nice for you to finally show up! Thought that explosion might reach ya!” shouted Sera. “And you even brought your elf assassin.”
“So it’s true then, you tried to assassinate my brother.” Hammer appeared from behind of Sera.
“Assassinate? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t you dare lie to us! You sent that elf to kill me! Right guys?”
           Sera’s lackey nodded.
“What? I’m not an assassin!” Riku protested.
“Enough!” Hammer demanded. “No one messes with the Great White Sharks. Your boat is not enough, so we’ll take everything from you.”
“That boat you destroyed. That’s the last thing I have from my parents. And you took it away from me! You are the ones who will pay!”
The Great White Sharks simply laughed.
“And what are you gonna do about it?” asked Sera.
Raijin’s eye were glaring. He then pressed a button at the handle of his tonfa, then the longer end begun to spark with electricity.
A few moments earlier at the United Alliance headquarters.
“WHAT?!” Torai jumped out from his seat.
“Calm down, will you?” said Jack.
“Calm down?! You do not simply say ‘Hey, I have news. An avatar is here’.”
“How would you want me to say it then?”
Torai sighed. “Never mind about that. Where’s this avatar then?”
“He’s at the lighthouse. His name is Dai---”
“WHAT?!” Torai jumped put from his seat again.
Jack sighed “Will you please stop doing that.”
“But I was at the lighthouse just earlier before I came here!”
“Really? So you already met him.”
“Yeah. The elf named Daisuke. He didn’t seem to look like an avatar to me though. Are you sure his an avatar?”
Before Jack could answer Torai’s question, they heard an explosion.
“Was that an explosion?” asked Jack.
They went out and saw a black smoke rising from the harbor. Torai ordered his men to go towards the harbor and investigate what is happening.
“Sir Torai! We detected three treasure hunter ships heading towards the harbor!” said one of the U.A. surveillance personnel.
“Great, an explosion at the harbor, and a group hunters.”
Daisuke is now in the streets near the harbor. He could now clearly see what is happening. He saw more than two dozens of men fighting two people.
           “Ah. Riku! Raijin!” shouted Daisuke.
Raijin hit another shark lackey with his electric tonfa. The lackey got electrocuted and fell down. “Ah, Daisuke!”
“Hey! Kick ass now, chit-chat later!” Riku demanded as she used her rose magic to fight multiple lackeys. Her enemies found it difficult to fight her thanks to her glowing skin. Her enemies are entranced, almost as if the glowing pattern no her skin is hypnotizing them.
Daisuke knew better than to piss off Riku, so he used his power to create his signature wooden arms to fight the shark lackeys as well.
“What? Another plant-user?” Sera was astonished to Daisuke’s appearance.
“I’ll deal with that newcomer, you deal with Raijin and that female elf.” Said Hammer.
“Sir Hammer! The U.A. is coming!” shouted one of the lackeys.
“Damn it. We can’t deal with all of them at the same time!” Sera claimed.
“Three warships? Why would they bring those just for us?” asked one of the lackeys.
Hammer scanned the area. Because of the commotion, they did not noticed that there are three large ships getting closer to the harbor.
           “Hahahahahaha! So he’s finally here.”
From the western area of Port Royale, three to four dozens of U.A. footmen arrived to the harbor.
“You guys! What’s going on here?” asked one of the footmen.
“These people destroyed my boat! Other boats even got burned as well because of them!” Raijin claimed.
Hammer laughed. “Don’t worry, kid. We’re now done playing loan sharks. We’re now here to take the whole Port Royale! Witness our eldest brother! The captain of Fishbone Hunters!!”
Everyone was astonished to what Hammer said. But true to his words, three ships are now near the harbor. Cannons started to fire which are aimed at the warships of United Alliance.
           “What? Fishbone Hunters?” asked Daisuke.
Hammer saw an opportunity to strike Daisuke with his battle hammer, but Daisuke managed to block his attack with the wooden arm.
“You’re pretty clumsy for an elf.”
Daisuke glared at Hammer. “You guys really piss me off.”
Hammer suddenly felt a dangerous killing intent coming from Daisuke that he backed off a little. Was he imagining things? Earlier, Daisuke was simply punching with his overgrown arms made of trees. But now, he seems to have the eyes of a monster. This elf is dangerous, Hammer thought.
“You got to be kidding me…”
“What happened? You were laughing just now.” Daisuke took a few steps forward.
“H-hey! Do not mock me!” Hammer took a runestone and activated it to become another battle hammer and rushed towards Daisuke.
Hammer is skilled with battle hammers, so wielding two at a time does not even slow him down. He tried to smash Daisuke with his hammers continuously, but Daisuke simply evaded his attacks. When Daisuke saw an opening, he tried to punch Hammer with his wooden arm. But Hammer quickly sidestepped to dodge.
Even with the killing intent that Hammer feels from Daisuke, he still charged Daisuke and the two continued to exchange blows.
Raijin was not having it any better. Despite the muscular looks of his opponent, Sera is still able to move quickly.
“What’s the matter, boy? Can’t land a hit?” Sera taunted.
“Shut up!” Shouted Raijin as he continued to attack Sera with his electric tonfas.
“That weapon of yours looks great. I’ll take them from you after I chop your head off.”
Sera then went into offensive after dodging Raijin’s last attack. He swing his ax towards Raijin, but Raijin manages to block his attacks with the tonfa.
Raijin tried to attack, but he just could find any opening. What’s with this muscle brain’s speed? How could he move so fast despite his built?
Sera tried to slash Raijin again. This time, Raijin blocked the attack with both of his tonfas. “I see, you are so weak that you even had to hire some elf just to assassinate me. Pathetic!”
“How many times do I have to tell you?” Raijin was struggling to block the ax above his head. “I never planned to kill you.”
Sera raised his ax again then slashed downward. The slash would have been fatal, but Riku managed to block the attack with her rose magic.
           “Hey! Need a hand?”
Behind Sera, most of the Great White Sharks are fighting the footmen. “I see you are already free. I wouldn’t mind if you’ll help me with this muscle brain.”
           “Gladly!”
The pattern on Riku’s skin glowed even brighter as she chanted a magic spell. “Germinio Iraeus”!
“Uwaaaaaaah!!” Sera wailed in pain as rose plants started to grow from where he was standing and got wrapped around him tightly. In just a matter of few seconds, Sera was completely wrapped with thorny rose plant.
Raijin’s jaw dropped. “You could have started with that! Why use it just now?!”
“Hmph. I will not waste my mana with mere lackeys.” Said Riku.
The three warships of United Alliance started to fire their cannons. Instead of fighting the Great White Sharks that is wreaking havoc at the harbor, Torai and Jack decided to fight the Fishbone Hunters that suddenly appeared.
“Why would those treasure hunters suddenly arrive?” asked Torai.
“That emblem on their flag. Those are the Fishbone Hunters for sure.” Claimed Jack.
           “You know those hunters?”
Jack confirmed. “They attacked Maria Island years ago. I believe that was the day my father saw Daisuke used the power of Ariyani.”
One of Fishbone Hunter’s ship went ahead to the harbor. The remaining ships continued to fire their cannons towards the warship.
“We wouldn’t be able to close the distance. We cannot afford to lose these warships.” Said Torai.
“I’ll handle the hunters. Do you think you could take me to one of those ships?”
           “Sure. What are you planning?”
“Take me to one of their ships. Then tell your men to close the gap once I gave the signal. You can take care of the ship getting near the harbor after you dropped me.”
“OK. I’m counting on you, then.” Torai then faced his crew. “Men, hold your position. Once Jack give his signal, close the gap then sink those ships.”
Torai’s men screamed their lungs out.
Jack called Torai. “Hey! Let’s do this!”

Dream Hunters Chapter 7: Dream Hunters
DAISUKE DOES NOT WANT to believe what was being told him. How his own father can devised the plan for him to fail? And why would one of the councils want him to be kidnapped? Wait, did that even happened? He can’t recall.
“I did what I had to do!” Sequovas and Durant said in unison.
           “Quiet you two!” Grumple ordered.
           “Yes, ma’am.” said the two.
When Sequovas and Durant finally settled down, Grumple faced Daisuke. “I…We humbly apologize, Daisuke. Seeker Trials is an ancient tradition and we must stand by on the decisions that was made. Regardless, we cannot change your status.”
“I already knew that something was odd in the trials. But for father to plan all these?” Daisuke looked at his father.
Sequovas could not look at Daisuke. He couldn’t even speak a word to answer him.
“Daisuke. We believe that inside you is an immense power.” said Durant.
Mahogry tried to stop Durant. “Durant! We do not have to tell him that yet!”
“He has to know the truth!” Durant insisted.
“Please. Just tell me what is going on!. Daisuke claimed.
Everyone went silent. But Rango looked at Daisuke and he know that he deserves to know.
“Eveyone. It’s time we tell him who he truly is.” Rango urges the councils to speak.
“Very well.” Sequovas finally broke his silence. “Son, the reason you cannot control your power is because you are an avatar of an Ishvara named Ariyani.”
Daisuke only knew about the Ishvaras from his book. But how did they even came up with that conclusion. That’s very stupid.
           “Avatar? Ariyani?”
“You were born from the Sacred Tree, came from a Sacred Fruit. You cannot control your power because the mana of Ariyani is too strong.
           “That story again? Really?”
“Tell me, son. Do you remember what happened seven years ago? When we were attacked and you were in the shrine?”
Daisuke tried to recall the events seven years ago. All he could remember was that an ugly person ripped Maria’s portrait, then he went blank. “…no.”
“You came out, carrying a boy named Cobalt. You single handedly defeated five enemies who are supposedly older and stronger than you.” Durant revealed.
“When you came out from the shrine, we were about to…kill you. Us councils. You somehow invoked the power of Ariyani and transformed into its avatar.” Added Ananais. “But when we saw that you returned to…being you, we stopped.”
“That doesn’t explain why you want me to fail the Seeker Trials, though.”
“Son, if the humans ever got you, they will use you as a weapon. Worst, they might kill you if they could not control you.” Sequovas said.
“Then why would Sir Durant want me kidnapped? When that did even happened”
“It happened during our mission to track infiltrators back at the North River. Am I right, Sir Durant?” said Rango.
Everyone looked at Durant.
“You got me. But let’s face it. Daisuke is a threat to us. If he ever rampages here on the island, even we councils will not be enough to stop an Ishvara.” Durant answered
“Then why would you ask your son to train Daisuke then?” asked Rango.
“Because if he ended up clearing the trials, then he will certainly leave the island. It’s either he clear the trials, or I do something unconventional to get him out.”
The meeting went on for a couple more hours. Sequovas and Durant were stripped off of their council position and demoted to Elven Corps, which they did not argued with. It was thanks to Ananais, her team, and Rango, that Durant’s plans were uncovered. Capsian and Kofeera volunteered to spill what they know. Ultimately, it was revealed that Sequovas urged the other organizers, Musa, Raffla, and Hayato, to make the trials more difficult compared to the previous years.
As for Daisuke, he would still not be able to join the Seeker Trials for the next four years. As strict as it may be, the remaining councils decided that they must abide to the tradition.
When Sequovas got home, he told his wife Pinelia everything, much to her dismay. They knew that Daisuke may not come home for tonight, which is what exactly Daisuke did. He just stayed inside the shrine. He does not want to see his father yet. He has a lot going through his mind; him being an avatar of an Ishvara, wasting his time for two more Seeker trials when he could’ve already cleared the first one, Durant ‘helping’ him, whatever that means. Maybe Jack knew something, or even Riku. He wanted to ask them. Finally, he slept.
The next morning, he woken up to the sound of an alarm. He got up quickly and went outside. When he got to the observation deck, he saw a ship at the harbor. It wasn’t an elven ship, that’s for sure. And surely it doesn’t belonged to merchants.
           “Hunters.” he said.
Daisuke used his power to quickly propel him to the southern part of the village. As he landed on a roof, he run as fast as he could towards the harbor. He used his mana to heighten his senses. Luckily, there doesn’t seems to be any infiltrators that has reached the village proper yet.
As he reached the harbor area, the elven warriors are already fighting an army of treasure hunters. He does not know who is it this time, but he decided to join the fight. This is no longer a trial, he thought, so he may go all out.
He used his power to create a tree below him the sent him high above. He focused his mana on his feet. And as he landed, he used his power to created trees all over him. It caused chaos in the harbor.
Not far from him, Riku is also fighting. “Hey Daisuke! Mind if you do not destroy everything?”
She was fighting seven, eight hunters simultaneously. She was using her rose whip against the hunters. She knows that her physical strength is not great, so she let the hunters attack him, then she would dodge and counter. She was using her enemies’ brute force against them.
Meanwhile, Jack was also fighting several hunters at once. Unlike Riku, he was charging the hunters head-on using his jackfruit mace. One by one, they would got hit by the mace on their body and that would send them flying.
The three of them are now on each other’s back.
“So, I guess you guys already heard the news?” asked Daisuke.
Riku made a bow using her power and shot magical rose arrows to the hunters charging her side. “Yeah, Sir Rango looped us in.”
Jack created a column of jackfruit trees that sent hunters flying on his side, “I should have known Daisuke. I’m sorry. I should have known when my father suggested that I train you.”
Daisuke punched the ground and created a gigantic cherry blossom tree that blocked several cannon balls. “You know what, guys, let’s finish this first and have some talk later.”
They separated and charged the remaining hunters. The huge cherry blossom tree boosted the moral of the elves. They managed to push them back. When the hunters were finally outnumbered by the elves, they decided to retreat. Those that were beaten up where caught and will be handed over to United Alliance.
After the battle, Daisuke, Riku, and Jack were sitting on the seawall, looking at the peaceful ocean. Daisuke has always looked at the harbor from the observation deck, but this was his first time to be here since the departure of Cobalt seven years ago.
“I guess that’s why you looked so different. You are an avatar of an Ishvara.” said Riku.
“My father once told me that inside the Sacred Tree was Ariyani, the Ishvara of Woods.” told Jack. “Maria, the champion of the elves, used the last bit of her power to imprison Ariyani. She then vanished without a trace. People believes that the tree itself was Maria. Other believes that Maria became one with her power to manage creating that giant tree.”
“My mother never told me about those.” said Daisuke. “I only knew that Maria was the greatest elf that has ever walked the world.”
“If you really are the avatar of Ariyani, then you just have to control its mana.” said Riku. “There are tons of avatars before you that managed to do it, so I am sure you can also control that power.”
“Maybe one day you will meet another avatar that could help you.” Jack suggested.
Daisuke looked at Jack with disbelief. “There are more?”
“Of course! Twelve Ishvaras, twelve avatars.” said Riku.
"What made you think that you are the only one?” asked Jack. “Doesn’t your book mentioned about the First War? A war against Ishvaras?”
“Now that made sense. But how come you guys are so calm about this?” asked Daisuke.
“As much as I want to say a cheesy line like ‘because we’re friends’, it’s mostly because I believe in you, in your capabilities.” said Riku.
“Me too. Besides, we are the ones training you. I’m pretty sure you would be able to handle your power.” Jack added.
As the evening came, Daisuke decided to go home. He was greeted with a warm hug from her mother Pinelia. Sequovas wasn’t there. She said that after being demoted, he is now part of the Elven Corps under Mahogry’s supervision. Tonight was his first night shift.
“I am so glad that you came home, son.” said Pinelia.
“Mom, I have to tell you something. About me being an avatar.”
“I already know, son.” she revealed. “I told you, didn’t I? You were a gift from the Sacred Tree. You and your powers are a gift.”
Daisuke looked at her mother as they both tear up. “But, aren’t you afraid of me, mom? If I could not control my powers, your life could be endangered. Everyone’s life could be endangered.”
“Avatar or not, you are my son. You may have not grown from my womb, but you most certainly grew from my heart.”
The mother and child shared another hug, and laugh their tears out.
The next day, Daisuke went to the East Beach. He figured that no one will be there early in the morning. The sea is so peaceful and quiet. The breeze is fresh and the birds are happily singing. He watched as the golden sun rises over the horizon.
“You are not living without us, aren’t you?” said Riku.
Daisuke looked around and saw Jack and Riku. “What are you guys doing here?”
“We went to your home just after you left. Your mother told us everything.”
“If you’re living, then we are coming as well.” said Jack.
“You guys…I guess there’s no point arguing.” Daisuke resigned. “Sir Rango will certainly be furious.”
“Oh he knows.” said Jack. “He even agreed that we accompany you.”
Daisuke sniffled. “I wish I could’ve said goodbye.”
“It’s for the best that you didn’t, Daisuke.” said Jack. “You are his favorite after all. Besides, he is part of the council now. Let’s just say that he didn’t know that we left.”
Jack and Daisuke started to load the boat with their supplies while Riku prepared the boat to sail.
On top of the hills that separates the village and the beach, a few people that are close to Daisuke, Riku, and Jack watches them as they depart. The councils, their parents, their seniors.
“He really is decided to leave the island.” said Sequovas.
“Let’s just hope that he finds whatever he wants to find out there.” Pinelia rubbed the tears on her eyes.
“As per our law,” said Mahogry, “anyone that will leave the island without the status of a Seeker may never return. From this day forward, I hereby declare Daisuke an exiled.”
Everyone agreed on the words of Mahogry, but each of them still wished for safe travels for Daisuke, Riku, and Jack.
“His your second son to leave the island, Durant. You sure you won’t regret letting Jack go?” asked Sequovas.
“My firstborn may have not return. But that shouldn’t stop me from letting Jack do what he wants.”
Pinelia looked at Riku’s parents. “I’m sure your daughter will be fine. She’s the best those boys have got.”
“Thank you, Pinelia. I just hope she returns safe once they’ve accomplished their journey.” said Blaize, the father of Riku.
“Don’t worry. I gave her my rose ring. I’m sure it’ll be of a great help to her one day.” Added Parfume, Riku’s mother.
Back at the boat, Daisuke and Jack completed the loading of their supplies. Riku has also finally finished her preparations to sail the boat.
“So, where are we going?” asked Riku.
Daisuke looked at Jack, but Jack let him decide on their destination.
“Very well. We sail to the busy port of Port Royale!” Daisuke proclaimed.
The sails caught the winds and they sailed towards the continent of Aria.
--- End of Maria Island Arc ---
A little ways down the road…
A man was drinking a hot beverage and reading a newspaper, sitting on a log. He suddenly spit his drink after seeing something from what he’s reading. He got up from the log he was sitting on and ran towards a dark-skinned elf.
           “Oy! Daisuke!” shouted the man.
Daisuke looked behind. “What is it? And keep it down, it’s still way too early in the morning to be shouting.”
The man huffed as he tried to catch his breath.
A girl was sitting next to Daisuke. She has a fairer complexion and longer ears, which turns out to be Riku. “What is it? Are you okay?”
“Read this.” the man gave the newspaper to Daisuke.
The other people around them got curious and went towards Daisuke. He read an article in the newspaper’s so everyone can hear.
‘Beware the New Group of Hunters!’ by Sonia Lockwood.
‘At a certain island south of Snow Cape peninsula, a battle between the United Alliance of Aria and Dragon Raiders of Hunters’ Horde ensued a few days ago. The U.A. was led by two high ranking officials, Bolt of U.A. Navy, and Garuda of U.A. Aviation, and a member of Chasers named Jack, an elf from Maria Island. However, the joined forces did not managed to catch the Dragon Raiders. It was seen that another group of hunters assisted the Dragon Raiders. For the first time in history, the world will see the very first group of treasure hunters led by an elf. We also learned that the group has trespassed in Emergent Kingdom before the said battle on the island.
From the pictures we have taken during the battle, the new group is composed of the male dark-skinned elf, a female elf that uses rose magic, a man that wields a tonfa that was said to be a fisherman back at Port Royale, a raider from Drasgard Kingdom that became a gladiator at Colosseum Kingdom, a mage from Arcanas Kingdom, and an archer that was said to be the leader of the Rogue Archers back at White Forest.
Our group went to the locations of the said sightings of the group, and there we discovered that they became well-known for their activities, though no one gave any names.
We interviewed a few people and learned that each member was persuaded by the leader to join him, promising that they could have their dreams come true. The leader managed to convince his hand-picked members and has now started to hunt for treasure.
It is important that while these hunters are still new, U.A. must do everything they can to apprehend them as soon as possible. Until then, we must stay vigilant from this hunters.
Beware of the new group of hunters. Beware the Dream Hunters.’
“Oh look, our group has been named!” said Daisuke.
“Why do you look happy about it?! This is bad!! Don’t you understand?!” said the man that gave the newspaper.
“Daisuke, they gave us the name ‘Dream Hunters’. Hunters.” said a mage girl wearing a fur coat and wielding a staff. She emphasized the ‘Hunters’, hoping Daisuke will get it.
“Ohhh…OHHHH.” Daisuke finally got it. “This is bad, guys.”
“Great. From an honorable thief, now I became a part of treasure hunters. What else could go wrong?” said the archer girl who was cleaning her bow and arrows.
“What you have just said doesn’t makes sense.” Said the guy who gave newspaper.
“Also, I did not convinced you guys to come with me! You are the ones who decided that. This article is misleading!” Daisuke protested.
“Well, I guess we’re an enemy of U.A. starting from now.” said a boy with a unique armor and two swords sheathed on his either side. “Might as well earn something out of it, don’t you think?”
“Oooh, I know. We could join Hunters’ Horde.” Riku suggested.
Everyone laugh to her suggestion. But they all agreed that it wasn’t half bad and considered it.
“And we also need are own insignia. Like those from Dragon Raiders.” said the mage
“You’re into it, witch?” asked the archer girl.
The mage girl shrugged. “Again, I’m a ma-- whatever. Anyway, I’m not entirely into or against it.”
The guy who gave the newspaper resigned. “Well, we can’t stay here now, can we? We should keep moving.”
The armored guy took something from his loot bag, a runestone. He activated it and it turned into a raider boat. While Riku and the armored guy prepared the boat to sail, Daisuke and the rest of his crew loaded the boat with their things and supplies.
“Where do we go next, Daisuke?” asked armored guy.

Dream Hunters Chapter 6: A Cherry Blossom’s Might
CAPSIAN AND KOFEERA did not waste any time. As soon as Hayato gave his signal, they rushed towards Daisuke.
Daisuke knew that something was off. The three-way battle just did not made any sense. It was the last attempt for him to fail. But why, he thought. There’s no point showcasing his abilities if he gets beaten up by two powerful elves. Yep, he admitted that Capsian and Kofeera, no matter how big of a jerk they are, their powers are still to be reckoned with.
Capsian was the first to attack Daisuke. From his right arm, a cayenne plant sprouted and formed a blade. Every slash he does, a flame follows thanks to the cayenne peppers. Daisuke manages to dodge Capsian’s assault though. Thanks to his heightened senses, he could perceive Capsian’s movements. When Daisuke saw an opening, he immediately tried to counter with a wooden arm punch, but a dark brown powder blocked his attack.
“Don’t forget about me.” said Kofeera.
Kofeera is using her power to grow coffee plants and beans. She then turns the beans into powder and uses it to defend Capsian.
“With Kofeera here, I do not have to bother with defending myself. I just have to focus on cutting you.” Capsian continued to attack.
“Or burning me. Let’s not leave that option.” said Daisuke.
Capsian created another cayenne plant blade, this time on his left arm. He releases slash after slash, not giving Daisuke any opportunity to attack. But Daisuke still tried again to counter. This time, he managed to make some distance. He focused his mana on his feet then stomped on the floor. Just as when Capsian tried to slash, a tree grew directly below Capsian and sent him flying. Kofeera was able to catch Capsian midair however using her coffee powder. As the battle continues, the crowds cheered loudly. But Jack and Riku does not like what’s happening.
“Three-way battle my ass. This is obviously a two-on-one battle!” Riku protested.
“We can’t do anything about that. Any rumble-type battle will most certainly start with an alliance.” Jack responded.
“But that’s not fair! At this rate, not only Daisuke will lose. He will lose without even showing what he can do.”
Jack looked at Riku with a worried look. “Then let’s hope Daisuke has some ace up his sleeves.”
Back at the stage, Capsian has already managed to wound and burn Daisuke.
“What’s the matter, short-ears? Are we really that too strong for you?” taunted Capsian.
Daisuke is breathing deeply. He is running out breath from dodging and most certainly of time. At this rate, he will surely lose not just the match but also the trial. He knew he has to do something about Kofeera first. Otherwise, he won’t be able to land even a single hit to Capsian’s punchable face. Just one solid punch to this jerk’s face is all he wants now.
“Screw it. You’re having fun. I want to have some fun.” Daisuke suddenly emitted a powerful mana. He’s releasing way too much that the floor he’s standing on cratered. “Let’s do this!”
Daisuke blasted forward, passing by Capsian and straight to Kofeera. He used a large amount of mana to create a tree that propelled himself forward. He knew that closing the distance between him and Kofeera would prompt her to defend herself from his attack.
Kofeera used all her available coffee powder to surround herself. It was supposed to be her last resort, but after he felt the mana that Daisuke released, and the mere fact that Daisuke was able to close their distance in a blink of an eye, fear won over her. She was now inside a coffee powder cocoon.
She’s safe, she thought. It was dark inside so she did not noticed that Daisuke was able to insert his hands just before the coffee powder cocoon closes. That’s when suddenly, she saw a bright green light. Then the coffee powder cocoon exploded.
A tree came out with Kofeera from the cocoon. She was sent flying out of the stage and straight to the walls. When the dusts cleared, she was unconscious.
The crowd cheered after witnessing the move that Daisuke performed.
           “Kofeera!” Capsian shouted.
Daisuke turned towards Capsian. “Just the two of us now.” He’s right arm turned into a wooden and prepared to attack. “Are you ready?”
           “Bring it on!!”
Capsian released his left blade and used his power to elongate the right one. When it was long enough, he forced the plant to sprout red hot cayenne peppers. Meanwhile, Daisuke changed his stance. He created roots from his legs, effectively rooting himself on the stage floor. Capsian roared as he swung his cayenne blade. It wasn’t meant to cut Daisuke, but to release a huge wall of fire to burn him. But as the flame crawled towards Daisuke, he made his move.
Daisuke focused his mana on his right wooden arm, then he punched just as when the flame was near him. As he punch forward, the wooden arm grew forward, and larger as it go, like a giant fist. The force and speed of the growth of his right wooden arm would have recoiled and sent him flying backwards. Thanks to his roots on the legs though, he managed to stand his ground.
As the growing wooden arm hit the flame, the flame got extinguished, but the wooden arm’s leaves got burnt. Then, the most beautiful thing was witnessed by the audience and organizers.
The wooden arm sprouted pink flowers. Cherry blossoms. As the wooden arms continues to grow forward, the flowers dispersed but more grew from the wooden arm. The whole sacred ground was filled with cherry blossom petals.
Capsian could not believe what he saw. But just as when it was going to hit Capsian, it halted. When Capsian already noticed that it stopped, he turned back and tried to run. But Daisuke was already behind him. Daisuke, with his bare fist, punched Capsian on his face with all the strength he could muster. Capsian collapsed, unable to stand. The crowd cheered on Daisuke so loud. He could hear them chanting his name. It was the first time the elves actually said his name like they’ve always liked him. And with that, Hayato concluded the match with Daisuke as the victor.
A week later, the result of the Seeker Trials was posted outside the Council House. Only five candidates managed to become Seekers, including Capsian and Kofeera. Daisuke, however, failed the trials for the third time.
That morning, Riku and Jack were already with Rango at the Council House. They already saw the result, and are now just waiting for Daisuke for today’s mission.
“Daisuke’s still not here. I know he’s always late. But not like this.” said Riku.
“Sir Rango, should we go to his house and check on him?” asked Jack.
Rango looked around, then responded. “Well I think that would be unnecessary.”
Daisuke then arrived, catching his breath as he speak. “Sorry guys...Overslept…Won’t happen again…”
Riku and Jack were concerned about Daisuke. He already failed the trials for the third time, which means he cannot participate for another four years.
“           Have you seen the result over there?” asked Riku.
Daisuke was already breathing normally. “Doesn’t really matter, isn’t it? I lost my cool and I failed.”
“Then that’s that, I guess.” said Rango. “If Daisuke thinks it doesn’t matter, then let it be. Let’s focus on today’s work, shall we?”
Rango and his team went inside the Council House. As usual, it was filled with Seekers and Elven Corps, those who are being briefed for a mission and those that already came back to report.
As the crowd saw them, they cheered on Daisuke.
Daisuke was confused. He doesn’t know what was happening. They were then approached by the elves, trying to talk to Daisuke. It turns out that they were all amazed by the cherry blossoms that Daisuke created.
“It was so beautiful!” said an elf.
“Hey, can I ask for you to grow some cherry blossom tree near our house?” asked another.
           “Yeah! Me too!”
Everyone was clamoring about how awesome Daisuke was, some were asking for him to grow cherry blossom tree near their respective houses. The same elves that once bullied and shunned him, now changed their attitude towards him all because of the cherry blossoms.
“Okay everyone, that’s enough!” said Rango. “Go back to your superiors!”
           “That was crazy.” said Riku.
“Who would have thought that everyone would like you after the match?” Jack wondered.
“I wonder that as well. And come to think of it; we never knew what your plant power was until last week.” Rango claimed.
“Really, guys? You don’t know what a cherry blossom tree looks like?” Daisuke asked in disbelief.
“Wait. You’re telling us that all this time, every time you use your power, it’s a cherry blossom tree?” asked Jack.
“I guess everyone knew only the looks of a cherry blossom tree when it’s blossoming. Besides, cherry blossoms are endemic in the country of Nihokuni” said Riku.
“We’re here, guys. Keep it down.” said Rango as they reach the office of Ananais.
Rango knocked on the door, but no one was answering. He tried to open the door, but it was locked. Then, a scout elf from Ananais’ team came.
“Sir Rango. Lady Ananais is at the Council Room with the rest of the councils. She asked me to bring you and Daisuke.”
           “Wait. What’s happening?” asked Rango.
           “Everything will be explained there.”
“Can’t we come as well? We’re part of Sir Rango’s team.” asked Riku.
“Sorry. But my order was to bring Rango and Daisuke only.”
Daisuke and Rango followed the scout. Rango decided to dismiss Riku and Jack to take the day off.
As they reach the Council Room, they saw the seven councils, together with the elven leaders Cedra and Tamato, and this year’s Seeker Trials organizers Raffla, Hayato, and Musa. Capsian and Kofeera was there as well.
“Rango. Daisuke. Please, have a sit.” said Mahogry.
Daisuke and Rango sat together. They were curious as to why they are in a meeting together with the councils.
Orchilles then spoke to Daisuke. “So, I am sure you are wondering why you are here, Daisuke.”
           “Umm. Yes sir.”
“Very well. Let me explain.” said Grumple. “This is about the Seeker Trials last week. But just to clarify; you are aware that you have failed three times already, correct?”
           “Yes.” Daisuke responded.
“Good. Because thanks to your friends here,” Grumple pointed towards Capsian and Kofeera. “We learned some irregularities.”
“Huh. Like the three-way battle?” Daisuke guessed.
“Someone sabotaged you to fail the Seeker Trials. Not just this year’s, but also from the past two years.” Said Volcadon.
“What are you talking about? You mean Daisuke could have been a Seeker already this whole time?!” Rango got up from his seat, demanding answers.
“Not only that. The humans that tried to kidnap Daisuke was also planned by some elves.” Ananais added.
Mahogry stood up. “Daisuke, we have enough evidence to conclude that your father, Sequovas, was the cause as to why you failed all your attempts in the trials. And it was Durant who planned to kidnap you using humans.”

Dream Hunters Chapter 5: Seeker Trials
THE THREE HUMANS that Rango’s team caught were finally sent back to mainland Aria and handed over to United Alliance. Rango, the immediate superior of Daisuke, Riku, and Jack, led the team that handed over those humans. Upon returning to Yora Village, Rango reported to Ananais at her office in Council House.
“Lady Ananais. I’d like to report about our last mission.”
“Rango. It’s good to see you. Let’s hear it then.”
“During our interrogation of the humans on the ship, we managed to get some information about how they entered the island without being noticed. It seems someone is letting them in from our side, basking them with that elf’s mana.”
“I guess my suspicion is right after all.”
“But on how the humans got the information about Daisuke, it appears it didn’t came from the United Alliance. Even the United Alliance doesn’t seem to know a thing about any…unique elf.”
“Well, did they gave any name or description of this elf?”
“About that...” Rango was anxious. It’s like he does not want to say about what the humans told them.
           “Rango?”
“‘King of Fruits’, is what they said.”
That afternoon, Daisuke, Riku, and Jack concluded their last training. Daisuke has improved quite a lot and even managed to come up with a new strategy for the combat trials. They were just sitting down on the sands of the beach, resting and enjoying the view.
“This makes me think --- why are you guys still not leaving the island?” Daisuke wonders. “I mean, shouldn’t you guys already fulfill your Seeker duties?”
Jack responded first. “Well in my case, it’s only been a year since I cleared the trials. No need to hurry. Besides, my dad told me that I should continue my training before leaving.”
“Hmmm…waiting for the right moment…that makes sense.” Daisuke commented
“How about you Riku? It’s been two years, isn’t it?” Jack asked.
“The only reason I took the trials was because Daisuke asked me to join him.” Riku answered. “I like it here actually. I see no reason to leave.”
“Wait, you mean even if you clear the trials, you can choose to stay?” Daisuke asked?
“You have four years to decide whether to leave or not. After that, it’s either you leave for a mission or your Seeker status will be revoked.” Riku answered.
“Did you know about that, Jack?” Daisuke turned to Jack.
Jack simply swayed his head in disagreement.
“Well, time to go home guys. Big day for Daisuke tomorrow.” Riku got up and stretched. “Come on.”
As soon as Daisuke got home, he was greeted by Pinelia and Sequovas who were already done eating dinner. Daisuke greeted them as well and went straight to his room. He did not bothered to review for the written and practical trials. He is confident that he could clear the first two parts easily. Tiredness took over Daisuke that night, and as soon as he shut his eyes, he fell asleep. The following morning, Daisuke was accompanied by Sequovas and Pinelia to the sacred grounds where the trials will take place.
“Good luck, Daisuke.” said Pinelia. “I know you can do it this time.”
“Daisuke, just do your best. Trust on the trainings you have been doing with your friends.” Sequovas said smilingly.
“Thanks, guys. I’ll definitely clear all the trials this time.” Daisuke said confidently.
Two hundred and fifty candidates applied to take this year’s Seeker Trials. Daisuke looked around and saw some familiar faces. Among the candidates, there were only three candidates that are not taking the trials for the first time. Him, a red-haired male elf, and a female elf that looks like she had no sleep for days.
“Huh. I guess Capsian and Kofeera are on their last attempt as well…” said Daisuke.
The candidates sat down as the organizers of the Seeker Trials arrived. This year’s Seeker Trials’ organizers were Durant, Sequovas, Ananais, and three other veteran Seekers: Musa, Hayato, and Raffla.
Ananais stood in from of the podium for her opening statement. “We welcome everyone who are taking this year’s Seeker Trials. Before we begin, we would just like to remind everyone the importance of the trials for our lives. The outside world is an unforgiving one. Going outside means demise to anyone unprepared. To protect our citizens, we have to regulate those who wants to enter our land. And of course, we also have to regulate those who wants to leave. It may be a strict law, but safety will always come first. Of course, those who wants to leave without clearing the trials may opt for exile.”
The candidate laugh at those latter words by Ananais.
Sequovas stood up next ands said a few words. “As you may already know, there has been changes in this year’s Seeker Trials. Only a maximum of ten candidates will receive this year’s Seeker status. This is due to the high numbers of Seekers that are already outside Maria Island. This change has been approved. Those who have objections may leave now.”
No candidates left the sacred ground. Everyone seems to be determined to become a Seeker even though looking nervous.
“Okay then. Without further ado, let the trials begin!” Ananais ended her speech and gave the stage to Musa, one of the veteran Seekers.
“I am Musa, and I will be giving you your first trial: the written trial. You will answer a five-page questionnaire. The time limit is one hour. As you may all know, the written trial is composed of language, survival, common misconception, and general knowledge. You have to get an 85% mark to clear this trial. Good luck.”
The candidates were given the questionnaires. As expected, Daisuke was able to answer most of the questions with ease. By this point, he already mastered eight languages. He also easily answered questions about survival and misconceptions. What he struggled at though was the general knowledge.
For some reasons, he noticed that the questions for the general knowledge were more difficult compared to last year. He went back to the other questions and just noticed that the questions for all sections are much more difficult.
He looked around and saw the other candidate near him struggling. Some even decided to concede. Something’s wrong with the written trial, he thought.
After one hour, the answer sheet of the candidates automatically revealed their mark. Daisuke managed to get 93% correct answers, turning his paper into a blue-colored paper that glowed dimly. All around him, the answer sheet glowed red, indicating that they failed. Musa announced that from the previous count, only eighty-nine candidates are left.
He looked at Musa who was talking with Sequovas. When Sequovas saw Daisuke looking at them, he just smiled. Then Musa stopped speaking with Sequovas and instead applauded the remaining candidates.
The second trial began shortly. Raffla was the organizer of the second part of the trials. After the candidates who failed already left the sacred ground, the remaining candidates went near the podium on Raffla’s command.
“Okay everyone, listen up.” Raffla took the attention of the candidates. “The second part of the Seeker Trials is the puzzle trial. Clearing the written trial is not enough. You should also know how to use your knowledge and apply them in real life. So, just like last year, the puzzle test will require you to get to the shrine of Maria from here. As the name suggests, there will be puzzles along the way. Your goal is to clear ten puzzles for you to obtain a spot for the last trial.”
There are many ways to reach the shrine. Daisuke did not bother to try any other routes and simply went to a more direct route. That’s when he realized that the route he took has the most difficult puzzles. Most of the participants who continued were already on their third of fourth puzzle. The puzzle trial will challenges the candidates’ way of thinking by solving puzzles using foreign objects that the elves are not usually familiar with. This includes radio frequencies, electricity, steam engines, freezing technology, magnetism, and gunpowder, to name a few.
Despite the suspiciously difficult puzzles, Daisuke still managed to solve them. He was already familiar with most of the objects to use. It was only a matter of finding out what objects to use to solve the puzzles. In one puzzle, he had to match radio frequencies to open the gates. Another puzzle required him the freeze water in different shapes. Then a dangerous puzzle required him to craft bombs.
He managed to catch up with the other participants and narrowly made it. He finished 9th place, guaranteeing him a spot on the combat trials. The tenth spot, however, was given to two participants who reached the shrine at the same time. Instead of having a tie-breaker, the organizers decided to simply let the two join the combat matches. Raffla suggested that if either one of them fails, then both of them should fail, which the two candidates agreed on, much to Daisuke’s dismay.
The candidates were given a break until the start of the combat trial. The sacred ground was already converted into a sort of stadium during the puzzle trial. Audiences already filled the seats. Jack and Riku are watching together. They sat at the opposite of the organizers’ area. Below them are the remaining candidates. Daisuke was sitting down, watching the organizers talk. He felt that something is off. Then, two elves approached him.
“Hey, short-ears!” said the red-haired male elf.
          “What now, Capsian?” Daisuke sighed.
“Nothing. Just greeting you an old friend.”
          Daisuke raised an eyebrow.
“What’s up, bark skin?” Said Kofeera.
“Could you please make up your mind on what nickname you’ll give me? I’m already liking ‘short-ears’” said Daisuke sarcastically.
“Anyway, looks like it’s only the three of us who are taking Seeker Trials for the third time.” said Capsian.
“Yeah. This is our last chance. It’s our first time getting to combat match though” said Kofeera.
“Oh, is that right? Well, good luck to all of us then.” Daisuke platonically responded.
“So cold.” Capsian and Kofeera said.
Since there are eleven remaining candidates and the combat trial is usually a one on one battle, one match will have to be a three-way battle. Using draw lots, it was Daisuke, Capsian, and Kofeera that would have to be on a three-way battle.
“Oh, look at that. What are the odds.” said Daisuke.
Hayato, the organizer for the combat trial, reiterated the rules. “Everyone, listen up. The purpose of this match is for you to show your skills in battle. Showcase your creativity and manage your mana properly. Winning does not necessarily mean that you will pass this trial. Now, be proud, for you are Elves!!”
The remaining candidates screamed out their lungs to cheer as Hayato ended his speech. He also served as the matches’ referee.
The four matches before the three-way battle ended pretty quickly. The first match was between a corn power user and a watermelon power user where the latter won. The second match was between a summoner of treant-like creatures and a banana power user, the former overwhelmed his opponent and won. The third match was fought with brute force by a cactus power user and a coconut power user that ended with a tie as both of them got KO’d at the same time. The fourth match was a clash between two magic users; one who has maple tree magic and another with a cinnamon tree magic. The maple tree magic user ultimately won.
When the time finally came for the three-way battle, Daisuke, Capsian, and Kofeera, stood on the stage. Something’s really not right, Daisuke thought. First was the impossibly difficult written trial. Then, the absurdity of the puzzle trial. Now, the fact that only ten may compete for the combat trials, and on top of that, he has to fight two at the same time because the organizers agreed to have two tenth placers.
The three of them went to their respective corners. Daisuke tried to focus and recalled his training. He started to circulate his mana to prepare his body from using his power. As his senses intensified, he knew something was wrong. He observed Capsian and Kofeera, who were looking at each other. He then saw Kofeera and Capsian looked his way.
“Well I’ll be damned. Was everything planned for me to fail?” asked Daisuke.
Capsian smirked. “Why we do not know what you’re talking about, short-ears.”
On Hayato’s mark, the last match began.

Dream Hunters Chapter 4: Push and Pull
AFTER YESTERDAY’S MISSION, Daisuke, Riku, and Jack unanimously agreed to spend their rest day by absolutely doing nothing productive at all. As usual, Daisuke decided to hang out at the shrine of Maria. He’s basically a self-proclaimed elven guard of the shrine by now.
“Are you sure you do not want to find another place to hang out?” Pinelia asked.
“Naaah. I’m good at the shrine. Besides, I can act like its personal security guard.” Daisuke casually replied.
“Oh well, as long as you’re not spending your free time here at home. I’d rather see you do nothing with your friends than doing nothing here.”
“Awwwww. You really are the most supportive mom.”
Daisuke and Pinelia laughed it off.
As soon as Daisuke reached the shrine, he paid his respects to Maria, the champion of Yora village. Today, he brought his runestone of Laniagaea Vol. 1. He has already finished reading the book years ago, but he never gets tired of reading it all over again. Seeing the illustrations of other countries from all over the world is what matters to him. It gives him the motivation to continue and improve, all for the sake of visiting various places and bringing back the wooden statue of Maria.
Somehow, the book also contains some information about the rise of treasure hunting in the world. According to the book, there was a period in time when most of the countries closed their borders to foreigners, the Dark Ages. But soon, one country decided to travel the whole world to discover new things, meet other races, exchange knowledge and technology, and hopefully form alliances. This country was known as the Arcobaleno Kingdom.
Arcobaleno Kingdom has been a very advance country. They pioneered land and sea exploration. Soon, many countries followed their footsteps. Government and nobles funded the explorers. Those that wanted to explore but have no funds became adventurers and formed guilds. And then those who became notorious for traveling to deeper unexplored lands and even trespassed into different territories became what’s known as treasure hunters. He was busy reading his book that he didn’t notice someone went inside the shrine.
“You really are not difficult to find, you know.” Jack said.
Daisuke raised his head and saw Jack. “Hmmm. And you’re not the kind to visit the shrine.”
“Well, we actually came here to see you.”
          “We?”
Outside, Riku is standing at the observation deck. Like Daisuke, she also likes the view from that spot. Seeing the panoramic view of the southern part of Yora village, the ever-busy harbor, and the calm sea. Daisuke and Jack went to the observation deck to meet Riku.
“Oh! Hey Daisuke.” Riku smilingly greeted Daisuke.
          “Yo. What’s up?” Daisuke replied.
Riku explained that she and Jack would like to train him for the upcoming Seeker Trials. As they have observed, Daisuke’s weakness is his poor mana control. The first time Daisuke failed the trials, he was easily overwhelmed by his opponent. The second time, he managed to win the combat trial, though it was a sloppy one. He created trees all over the place, and even managed to downright destroy the whole stage. And since the result of the combat trial does not certainly depends on the winner and loser of the match, Daisuke still failed the trial.
“I know we all decided to just loaf around. But Jack and I thought that we could just use our spare time to, you know, help you.” Riku added.
“So, what do you say, Daisuke?” Jack asked.
“You guys…” Daisuke was tearing up, then hugged Riku and Jack. “I love you guys!!”
“Ugh...” Riku and Jack sighed in unison.
They went to the Eastern Beach, the same beach where the Fishbone Hunters landed to siege the island. The beach has a great view of the sea. The sand is white and fine. Coconut trees are everywhere. This is where Riku and Jack decided to train Daisuke.
“The thing is, you used too much mana yesterday.” Jack told Daisuke.
“Yeah, I sensed it too.” Riku confirmed.
“I know. I’m just unable to control my mana output.” Daisuke told them. “It’s like, when I try to use a bit of mana to produce a seedling, a torrent of mana will come out, and a sapling or even whole mature tree would emerge.”
“The key to clear the combat trial is not just to win, but to show that you can survive the battle. Evading an attack is and getting out of an impossible battle is not a sign of weakness.” Said Jack.
“Basically, the combat trial is to test our creativity on using our power and of course mana management.” Riku added.
“Great. Now what am I supposed to do?” asked Daisuke?
Jack faced him. “He have practice combat trial. You and I.”
Daisuke agreed, thanking his friends for always helping him. While Jack served as his opponent, Riku served as the referee of the match. She will decide whether Daisuke will pass the trial or not.
“Remember Daisuke, the goal is not to win but to use you power efficiently.” Riku reminded him.
          “Got it!” Daisuke replied.
Riku then gave the signal. “Begin!”
Daisuke was the first to charge. Riku has always taught her to imagine his body like a faucet and his mana the water. He only needs to open the faucet slightly to let a few drops of mana to drip. This is what Daisuke tried to do. He tried to produce a sprout, which he successfully did. Jack saw it and prepared to defend himself.
Jack taught Daisuke about different applications of elven power in combat. They could fight either in short, mid, or even long range. Depending on their mana control, short range would be the most efficient. But of course, many elves are skilled with their power usage.  They would only need to consume a certain amount of mana to create a weapon made of plants. Jack used his power to create a tree branch from both of his arms, and at the end of the branches were huge jackfruits. He created a Jackfruit Mace, a weapon based from his father’s Durian Mace.
Daisuke continued to let his mana flow on the sprout he created, until it became his signature Wooden Arm. He used this arm to punch Jack, but Jack timed his move well and managed to whip the wooden fist with the right Jackfruit Mace. When Jack saw the Daisuke lost balance, he continued to hit Daisuke with his left Jackfruit Mace. Luckily, Daisuke managed to create a left Wooden Arm and used it to block Jack’s follow up.
“That’s two Wooden Arms now, Daisuke.” Jack changed his stance. He started to spin his right mace, getting ready for his attack.
Daisuke removed both his Wooden Arms and ran towards Jack. This time, Jack was the first to attack by throwing the spinning mace towards Daisuke. Using his mana, he produced more branches to extend the mace until it reached Daisuke.
But Daisuke managed to dodge by growing a tree directly under him, launching him through the air. When he was high enough, he used his power to punch midair. And when he did, a tree came out of his right arm towards jack at high speed. The tree changed shape, resembling a fist. But even before Jack could get hit by the extending wooden fist, it suddenly stopped. Daisuke landed and unable to stand.
“Two Wooden Arms, one mature tree to dodge, and another mature tree to attack midair.” Jack enumerating the actions of Daisuke earlier. “What do you think, Riku?”
“Well, he basically wasted mana again.” Riku responded.
Daisuke tried to talk but was out of breath. He was now just lying down on the sand of the beach.
“You got carried away again Daisuke.” Jack said, sitting next to Daisuke.
“For comparison,” Riku now sitting as well next to Daisuke. “Jack used his mana to create two maces, while you created four trees from afar. You are essentially using your mana as the necessary energy to force the trees to grow.”
“I tried to do same thing when I threw you my mace.” Jack added.
Daisuke was trying to speak, but it was inaudible.
“Well, you recharge your mana quicker than the rest of us. We can continue after you have recovered.” Jack told Daisuke.
“Yeah. You just need be pushed a little bit more. We’re sure you’ll improve in no time.” Riku smilingly added.
Daisuke mumbled something that seems to agree on Jack’s and Riku’s words.
The three of them stayed at the beach until night time, training Daisuke to control his mana. Jack would have a sparring match against Daisuke, while Riku would remind Daisuke about the proper mana control. And while they were training, a silhouette can be seen that seems to be watching the three.
That same night at the Council House, Sequovas was preparing to go home already when Durant approached him to talk.
“The day of the trials is coming soon.” Durant picked up a book and handed it over to Sequovas. “Your son is still yet to clear the combat trial.”
“What is it that you really want to talk about, Durant?”
“Daisuke does not belong here and you know it.”
Sequovas stopped from cleaning up his stuffs. “I would rather have him stay here on the island than let the greedy humans get him.” Said Sequovas. “It was you, wasn’t it? You brought those humans here.”
“And I am the one who told her scouts.”
“You are out of your mind, Durant. Bringing humans here? You are lucky that I have no intention of telling this to other council heads so you better stop this now.”
Sequovas and Durant are now speaking face to face. Both of them are emitting a faint amount of mana, though enough to cause a pressure that could push anyone.
“You speak like I am the only one guilty of something. Tampering with the Seeker Trials is also punishable. Still, I am thankful for you not reporting me. But you must understand that I am only trying to protect our people.”
          “To protect from a kid?!”
“To protect them from a potential attack from the avatar of an Ishvara.”
Sequovas was infuriated from the claims of Durant, causing his mana to break the floor from where he was standing. The amount of pressure could have blown Durant away, but Durant’s mana protected him.
“From this point, Durant, you might want to consider the next words coming from your mouth.”
Durant lowered his mana output. “I know you are the one who keeps pulling Daisuke to fail. You keep on messing with his already pitiable mana control. I will not reveal him that. But I will keep telling Jack to train him to pass the trials.”
“And I will do everything to keep Daisuke on this island. I will not let anyone use him as a weapon.”
“So you would rather have him rampaging here on our island? Threatening the lives of your people?”
Sequovas finally lowered his mana output and continued to clean up his stuff. He then breathed heavily and faced Durant. “If that time ever comes, I will be the one to put an end to his life. Not you, not Mahogry, not anyone from this island. It will only be me.”
“Sequovas, trust me, I know how you feel. There are no words to describe the pain of losing a child. Believe me, I know. But you have to understand; there is no escaping destiny. Whether or not he learns to control his power, he will eventually turn into an Ishvara. The likes of him are cursed to die a painful death over and over again. Daisuke is no exception.”
“I will no longer warn you again, Durant. I am not the one you wanted to be an enemy.” Sequovas took his satchel and left the Council House.

Dream Hunters Chapter 3: Back To Square One
SEVEN YEAR HAS PASSED, Daisuke has already taken the Seeker Trials. He already failed twice in a row.
The Seeker Trials is an annual event where the elves faces certain trials to test whether they could survive outside Maria Island. The trials involves three parts: a written trial regarding the general knowledge outside Maria Island, a puzzle trial about the practical applications of foreign objects and technology, and combat trial, where elves will fight each other to see how strong and creative they are. Thanks to the things Daisuke learned at the Seeker Academy and to the book that Cobalt gave him, he was able to pass the first two parts. But when it comes to combat matches, he always fail.
According to the law that the past councils made, an elf may only take part in Seeker Trials thrice in a row. Failing it for a third time will ban an elf from taking the trials for the next four years and may only take the trials every four years thereafter.
Daisuke is standing at the observation deck outside of the shrine of Maria. He was looking at the panoramic view of the village. There he can see the South Harbor. He could see a ship filled with the new and veteran Seekers that is preparing for departure. If only Daisuke had cleared his second attempt on the trials, he would have been there as well, he thought.
Never in his life has he have been so troubled. Clearing the Seeker Trials is like a matter of life and death. He doesn’t want to be part of the Elven Corps for the rest of his life. He definitely does not want to wait for another four years just to take the trials. He felt it was unfair that he only fails because of the combat trial.
“There you are, Daisuke!” said a female elf.
Daisuke looked to his right. “Oh, Riku. What are you doing here?” asked Daisuke.
“I was looking for you.” Riku answered. She looked around, then said, “You really like this place, don’t you?”
Riku is a friend of Daisuke he met at Seeker Academy. They met when Daisuke was being bullied by some senior elves. She was also a bullied elf since she was unable to use a power. Instead, she has a Rose Necklace which she uses to use Rose Magic. She has a short hair with a braid on the right side. Like every elf, she has a pale skin and unique swirling patterns on it. But whenever she uses her rose magic, the pattern on her skin glows pinkish red instead of bright green. Unlike Daisuke though, she already cleared the Seeker Trials on their first take.
“Come on. Sir Rango is waiting for us.” said Riku. “You don’t want to be late again.”
Riku and Daisuke rushed towards the Council House where they met their colleague Jack and their senior Rango.
“What? Even you Riku barely made it on time?” announced Jack while laughing.
          “Shut up.” Riku said coldly.
Jack is another friend of Daisuke. They’ve met when Daisuke attempted to clear the trials for the second time. He is the youngest son of Durant, and has already cleared the trials just like Riku.
“You just got here early!” said Daisuke.
Rango, smacked their heads. “That’s enough you three. Now come on, we’ve got a new mission.”
“Yes, sir!” Riku, Daisuke, and Jack shouted in unison.
After graduating the Seeker Academy, an elf can be part of the Elven Corps. They may join one of any divisions available, from the main forces that will protect the island from outsiders, healers that may work at the medical center or support the warriors and seekers, to the logistics and intelligence division that would one day can gather information from other countries.
Rango, their superior, is a Seeker that has cleared the trials twenty years ago and left the island for various missions. He returned to Yora Village seven years ago after spending a lot of his years traveling the lands of Aria. There, he learned many things about humans’ and other races’ culture and technology. On his return, he decided to stay and become part of the Elven Corps as an elven warrior that would protect Maria Island from outsiders.
As they entered the Council House, they saw a lot of elves taking missions from the councils. Some of them have just graduated from Seeker Academy, while others are already Seekers that decided not to leave the island yet.
As they are walking towards Ananais’ office, Daisuke can hear the girls murmuring about Jack. Being tall and handsome, any female elves would definitely want to be with him. Jack was even nicknamed, ‘The Prince of the Elves’. Riku also grew up fine and had many suitors. She used to be made fun of when she was younger for looking tomboyish and powerless, but now she looks prim and proper, ‘The Rose among the Thorns’. And then Daisuke heard elves who are talking about him. Isn’t that the freak who already failed twice? Why does short-ears have to be with the two famous elves? Daisuke chose to ignore them and simply follow Rango.
Rango’s team received their mission from Ananais. Ananais is an expert in stealth missions that involves espionage and infiltration. During her days as a Seeker, she will always receive these kind of missions to gather information about human settlements. Today, thanks to her experience and expertise, she has been assigned to border control in Maria Island aside from her council task.
Simply by entering the waters of the island, Ananais’ team will be able to detect it. But for some reason, they were unable to detect that a small boat entered the island. And even failed to detect where the infiltrators are.
“Rango! Thank you so much for coming.” Ananais smilingly said.
“Hahaha! We’re only doing our part, Lady Ananais.” Rango replied cheerfully.
Ananais’ gaze went to the three young elves. “I see, you have been assigned with these young ones.”
“They’re quite a handful bunch, but they do manage to finish their mission.” Rango said, praising his team. His team blushed from the compliment.
“Hahaha. Anyway, for your mission, I would like you to investigate the delta of the North River.” Ananais handed over the mission report.
According to the report given to Ananais by her scouting team, they saw a human boat at the delta of North River. This means that they could have been infiltrated by human treasure hunters again. Being infiltrated is not something new. What they were worried about was that they were unable to detect the boat or any infiltrators. There were no signs of camps or traces of any humans, but checking the area is a must. Rango briefed his team regarding the information and devised a strategy on sweeping the North River.
After the briefing, they left the village straight to the northern part of Maria Island. They reached the river in about half an hour.
“Hey Daisuke! Isn’t this the place where you were found?” asked Riku as they reached the North River.
“You still believe that story?” said Jack.
“Well, whether that’s true or not, we still celebrate my birthday here.” Daisuke said. “This is actually my first time coming here when it is not that day.”
“That’s enough chit-chat, guys.” said Rango. “This is where we begin are plan.”
Their plan is to sweep the area up to the river’s delta while staying hidden. Since there were no signs of the humans, the humans could be hiding in the woods. And as Rango instructed his team, if they ever see anything suspicious or the humans, they must not act on their own.
Rango’s team communicated using a portable radio, a technology that was shared to them by their human allies from a country in Aria continent.
“We’re already near the delta, yet there still no sign of any humans.” Daisuke said over his mouthpiece.
“Just continue walking,” Rango replied. “And keep it quiet and stay hidden.”
As Daisuke was walking, he heard a crackling sound of tree branch. He stopped to focus on any unusual sound. And then an arrow flew over him. He narrowly dodged the arrow. He looked to his left and saw a male human with bow and arrow, ready to fire again. As he looked at bow guy, two men fell down from the tree. They had a net that was meant to catch an elf, but he was able to dodge it.
“So there’s three of you, huh.” said Daisuke.
Daisuke’s teammates heard it from the radio and quickly went to where Daisuke is.
“Is that really him? The dark-skinned elf?” Asked one of the humans.
“That’s him alright, catch him!” said another.
Daisuke got irritated when he was called a dark-skinned elf. “Hey! That’s racist, you know!”
The bow guy nocked another arrow, Daisuke stomped his feet and a mature tree suddenly grew, shielding him from the arrow. The other guys tried to use the net again to catch Daisuke, but he was able to escape by creating a tree directly under his feet. He was a few meters up in the air now, standing at the top of the tree he created. He jumped down and landed near bow guy. As bow guy tried to nock another arrow, Daisuke punched him in the face so hard that it sent bow guy flying. The strength of Daisuke was so unreal that the two other humans was not sure what just happened. Daisuke then used his power. His right arm was being covered with tree branches until it became a huge wooden arm. Too much mana was used, however, in just using this wooden arms. So he thought that he must finish the fight before he runs out of mana. He already used too much earlier when he created two trees for cover and dodging.
The two other humans did the only logical thing; they tried to escape.
With those arms, they thought that they will not be able to catch Daisuke. They also thought that Daisuke will not be able to catch them since those wooden arms will only slow him down. They were wrong.
Daisuke was now running side by side with the two men. He jumped and used his momentum to punch the guy on his left using his wooden arm. The guy was sent flying until the guy hit a tree. The other one tried to escape, but Riku caught up on them.
Meanwhile, bow guy got up and tried to run away, but Jack blocked his way. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“Yaaaaaaah!!” Bow guy took a dagger from his side and tried to stab Jack, but Jack used his power to block the dagger by covering his left arm with tree branch that served as his shield. Jack then covered his right fist with tree branch and punched bow guy’s face, rendering him unconscious.
Back at the other guy who tried to escape was mesmerized by Riku, a fatal mistake from any newbie elf hunter. Riku used her rose magic, wrapping the hunter with rose plant filled with thorns. The guy writhed in pain as he was prickled with thorn all over his body. As Rango reached his team, he ensured that the other guy Daisuke sent flying was tied up. After confirming that there are now other infiltrators beside the three male humans, he congratulated his team for completing the mission safe and sound.
They reached the village soon and handed over the three humans to the elven guards and were sent to the prison room for the time being. Ananais congratulated Rango’s team and gave them their payment.
“You guys really worked hard. Let’s call it a day. You better rest now.” Rango gave his team their earnings and decided to call it a day.
After the three elves left the Council House, Ananais and Rango had a talk.
“So, how did it go?” Ananais asked.
“They were really after Daisuke.” Rango responded. “How did they even entered the island without being noticed?”
“I am curious to that as well. If not for Durant and his trainees near my scouting team, we will not know about it.”
“And they even knew about Daisuke. The only dark-skinned elf on the island.”
“Probably after the attack seven years ago. We handed over some prisoners to United Alliance. They could have told them about Daisuke”
Rango sighed. “United Alliance can never be trusted. They must be after it. The power inside Daisuke.”
“That is why I want you to do me a favor.”

Dream Hunters Chapter 9: Good Ales
SEA SERPENTS COULD BE SOLD for thousands of lanias. Most of the scale from Raijin’s catch was burnt, so the price could be lower, but restaurants and taverns could buy the meat since many traveler wishes to eat something exotic when coming to Port Royale.
One particular tavern that sells exotic food and special ales is the Maelstrom Tavern.
“Port Royale is quite famous for ales, and exotic foods.” Said Raijin. “And the best can be found at Maelstrom Tavern.”
Raijin is leading the trio to a hidden tavern, and the path is almost suspicious that the trio wanted the run away.
“This place seems to be pretty dark and secluded.” Said Riku.
“Well, the cost of rent near the harbor and main roads are expensive, so many businesses and houses are built here.” replied Raijin. “The place may look dark and scary, be trust me, there are good stuff around here. Aaaand here we are.”
They reached the tavern and somehow, it looked cozier than they imagined. It is well-lit and has clean surrounding.
As they entered, they saw a bunch of people, drinking and singing and dancing and drunk. The Maelstrom Tavern was said to be built even before Port Royale was acknowledged as an autonomous region. It used to be famous for travelers, but is now almost like a secret club, for members only.
“Hey! It’s Raijin!” shouted a drunk man on top of a piano.
           “Raijin!!” shouted all the people.
But they all stopped when they noticed the elves. They started whispering and almost became sober. One man tried to approach the elves with his shotgun, but an old man stopped him.
“Why the music stopped?” said the old man.
The people got nervous and started to awkwardly sing and play music again. The guy with the shotgun went back to his seat and drink his ale. He almost dropped his mug because of his shaking hand.
“Raijin! I see you have some guests.”
“Hey Boris. These are Daisuke, Riku, and Jack. They’re travelers.”
The trio greeted Boris and Boris greeted them back.
“I am Boris, owner of Maelstrom Tavern.”
“Woah. You’re a dwarf!” Daisuke exclaimed.
“Hohohoho! Well I am indeed.” Boris replied.
“It’s our first time to actually see one in flesh.”
“Is that right? Well why don’t you lads and lass go upstairs and make yourselves comfortable. It’s a bit rowdy down here. I’ll join you momentarily.”
As they went upstairs, the customers were trying look at them. But they could only look for a short time in fear that Boris would scold them.
“Hey, how come you’re so well-known here?” asked Riku.
“I live here. After I got orphaned, Boris took care of me. He’s friends with my parents. Or so he says. I was still young when my parents left. So I have really no good memories with them.”
“Then why not work here instead than being a fisherman?” asked Jack who was already drinking his ale.
Raijin did not answered the question and just drink his ale bottoms up. Daisuke also finished his mug then asked a question to Raijin.
“You must really love that boat, don’t you? She must have some sentimental value of some sort.”
           Raijin flinched. “How’d you know?”
“Well, it’s old and creaky. Even us elves would change a boat altogether when it is beyond repair.”
“Boris told me that it’s my father’s memento to me. I find comfort in using that old creaky boat than to buy a new one. Besides, I got no money to buy a new one.”
“How about the money you’ll get from the serpent?” asked Riku who was also enjoying a mug of ale.
“Some of it goes here. I give some to Boris for the utilities. Some of it, I use to pay the loan sharks my parents used to owe.”
           “Loan sharks?” asked Jack.
“The Great White Sharks. They lend money to people at high interest, almost impossible to pay. Anyway. Just three more years and I’ll be able to fully pay them up. Interest and all.”
“Why does not United Alliance deal with them? They’re like the most powerful faction in the entire world.”
“U.A.’s got more serious matter to deal with.”
The four shared more stories and laughter as they get to know each other.
At another secluded alley, there is another tavern called Hammerhead Tavern. It serves not only as a tavern but also the headquarters of the Great White Sharks,
“Brother Hammer. How much we’ve got today?” asked Sera.
“Not much. But it doesn’t really matter.” Said Hammer. Hammer is slimmer compared to his younger brother Sera who is very muscular.
Sera got confused. “Umm…what do you mean, brother?”
Hammer stood up. “I was talking to our older brother earlier with the transponder---“
           “Really?! What he say?”
“---and he said he’ll be here tomorrow.” Hammer walked towards Sera. “Brother, we’re done with the loan shark business. It’s finally time to take over this place.”
“But the Great White Sharks has been our life since we were kids. Are we really going to exchange the life we have now for something even more dangerous?”
“The higher the risk, the higher the price. Both ways. So what if we put our lives on the line if we have the chance to get more? This is the age of treasure hunters, brother. Might as well become one.”
“Didn’t our brother lost years ago? What’s he even up to all this time?”
“Oh you know his thing. When he lose some pets, he goes out to grab some more. So tomorrow, be prepared. The Great White Sharks will join forces with the Fishbone Hunters!”
It was past midnight. Most customers are already gone or asleep inside the tavern. Raijin and Daisuke are still talking. Riku was already asleep even before getting drunk and Jack passed out after two mugs of ales.
“You know, you guys are not the first elves in this town. A few days ago, a group of so-called ‘Seekers’ came.”
“Really? What are they doing here?”
“Said they were looking for an Iron Lizard or something.”
“I don’t know why they would be looking for a lizard made of iron though.
“Anyway, you guys still haven’t told why y’all traveling. You lot realize that humans doesn’t like elves, right?”
“That’s no brainer. But we have no choice. We have to go outside our island to find our treasures. Stolen by hunters.”
           “What kind of treasures?”
“Well, we used to have sacred weapons and jewelries. But the three of us are looking for a specific treasure. A statue.”
“A statue? Why would hunters steal a statue?”
“I was told that it was not the statue itself that the hunters want, but the treasure that the statue will lead them to.”
“And that treasure, y’all looking for it too?”
           “Not really. Only the statue.”
At that point, Boris appeared and heard the latter part of their conversation.
“Ahh. At last I finally get to rest. Raijin. Daisuke. I see you guys are still up.”
           “What’s up, Boris?” asked Raijin.
“Mr. Boris. Are we too loud?” asked Daisuke.
“Hahahaha! Not at all. But I did overheard your conversation. Not that I am eavesdropping. So you guys are talking about statues?”
“Umm, yes. An elven statue to be exact.” Said Daisuke.
Boris sat down with them, holding a larger mug of ale. “Hmmm. I remember my time as a hunter. There was a talk about the most beautiful statue that they have ever seen. Not that the statue was carved perfectly, but because of the person the statue portrays.”
Daisuke’s attention was taken by the words of Boris. His face had the look of surprise and confusion.
“The person in the statue, does she look like this?”
Daisuke took his runestone and activated it to become a book. Raijin was startled, but Boris just drink his ale. Daisuke then showed Boris a picture of a young elf, the picture of Maria.
“Hmmm. It does look like her. But I could be wrong.”
“You do not happen to know where it could be, do you.”
Boris took a sip from his mug again. “Twelve years ago, when I was at Emergent Kingdom selling ales, there was an auction. My eyesight is already blurry so I couldn’t be sure, but a statue is one of the item being auctioned.”
“Maybe your eyesight got blurry because you’re drunk. Hahahahaha!” Raijin teased.
Daisuke’s eyes got bigger. He couldn’t believe that he already have a lead on where the statue is.
“Look kid, I do not want to give you false hope. But if you are looking for a statue of an elf, you’re best bet is to go to Sicilia, a country east of Emergent Kingdom, which is a little bit south of Arcanas Kingdom, which is a neighboring kingdom of Colosseum Empire, which is south of here.” Boris chugged down his mug of ale.
“Is that where the buyer of the statue lives?”
“Yes. But the one who bought it is the most dangerous person in the world.”
Raijin then remembered the stories about the country of Sicilia and the ongoing war between two most powerful and influential family in the world, not even the government of Sicilia could do anything about it.
“Boris, are you saying that the buyer is Don Luca Lumbard? The son of late Don Lucio Lumbard?”
“I’m afraid so. He is the only man capable of bringing an army to another country without any problem.” Boris tried to drink from his mug, but it was already empty. “There was a rumor saying that he went to his sister’s wedding in another country with almost 400 ‘personal guards’; all suited up and wielding high-powered caliber of firearms.”
Daisuke is not sure how dangerous or powerful this Don Luca Lumbard is, but if going to Sicilia will lead him to the statue of Maria, then he has no choice but to go there.
“Then I guess it is settled.” Said Daisuke.
           “Settled? What’s settled?” asked Raijin.
           “We are going to Sicilia.”

Dream Hunters Chapter 2: Laniagaea
THREE DAYS LATER, Daisuke and Cobalt finally left the medical center. Cobalt told the elven healers that he had no recollection on what happened after he lost consciousness. Squidface and the other kids were already taken away by a group of Seekers led by Orchilles. They were handed over to United Alliance of Aria.
The following day, Cobalt was questioned by Durant, Mahogry, and Ananais, together with two senior elves, Cedra, leader of the Seekers and Tamato, leader of the Elven Corps. But since Cobalt is just an eleven years old kid, Ananais reminded everyone to be as lenient as possible.
“So Cobalt, can you tell us more about the division you belong in Sharksfin’s crew?” asked Tamato.
Cobalt doesn’t seem to be nervous about the interrogation. “Well, I am part of the small division that specializes in sneaking around to avoid confrontation when trying to steal treasures.”
“And how long have you been part of Sharksfin’s crew?” Cedra added.
“About three months, I guess. They caught me back at Pit Valley. Luckily, my friends got away. I’m the only one they have caught back there.”
Cobalt also revealed that he is an orphan from the Pit Valley. He never knew who his real parents are. He used to live there with his friends, surviving the desert-like valley by finding anything edible, from small lizards to unusual plants. While looking for something to eat, Sharksfin’s men raided their camp.
“Do you really not remember what happened four days ago?” Durant asked.
        “I, uhh…”
“Durant, there is no need to push him.” Mahogry said. “With that force of mana, a kid like him is lucky to survive. I wouldn’t be surprised that he lost consciousness the moment he got hit by the force of the mana alone.”
“Still, he must have noticed where it came from.” Durant replied.
“Sorry, I have no idea about the force of mana you are talking about. To tell you the truth, I lost consciousness the moment I got kicked by Calix, the second-in-command of our division. I tried to help this kid called Daisuke. He was beaten pretty badly by Calix. But what’s weird was that his face already healed up, like nothing happened.
The councils and senior seekers looked at each other.
“That’s just because of the healing powers and recovery ability of our people.” said Tamato.
In the end, the council decided not to punish Cobalt. Instead, he was promised that he will be escorted back to Pit Valley after the restoration of the village and stayed at the Council House temporarily.
Daisuke and Cobalt would then spend their time together at the shrine of Maria. The shrine was fixed the same day it got destroyed. They were teaching each other about the things they know. Daisuke would teach Cobalt about elven culture and history, while Cobalt showed Daisuke a unique book about Laniagaea.
“This is called a runestone.” Cobalt took out a small rock engraved with a symbol. The symbol looked like a capital ‘I’ with the short horizontal lines at the top and bottom of the vertical line, only the short lines are a bit longer and not horizontal. The top line looks like a wide ‘V’ and the line at the bottom mirrors the top line.
           “Woah cool…what is a runestone?”
“A runestone is an object imbued with Runic Symbol and magic. Here, look.” Cobalt demonstrated how the runestone transformed into a book. The runestone’s symbol glowed purple. It seemed to expand and turned into a book, about six hundred pages thick. As the light subsided from glowing, the runestone is now part of the book’s cover right in the middle.
           “Wow! That’s amazing! What’s a book?”
“Hahaha. Well, it’s similar to your scrolls. But instead of being rolled, it looks more like a block. You turn the page to see the next content.”
Cobalt handed over the book to Daisuke. Luckily, Daisuke learned how to read human lexicons and easily understood the writings book.
“Oh, I see. ’Laniagaea Vol. 1’. Hmmm. Is that the name of this ‘book’” He asked.
“Yes. But that’s also the name of this world. I mean, without the ‘volume one’.”
According to the book, it is unknown as to where the name came from, who gave the world that name, or what it even means. They only know that old texts from certain dungeons and ruins described that the world is round and is called Laniagaea. The book also contains information about the twelve continents of the world, but only six were detailed. These detailed continents are called Aria, Montagna, Dragonheim, Islas, Eaucove, and Arkociel. The other continents that were mentioned are Gardenia, Maldream, Evergreen, Cocoboro, Novachea, and Junoea.
“So this is where we are?” Daisuke pointing at Aria continent on the map in the book.
“Yes. But Maria Island is right here, northwest of the main Aria.”
“This is amazing. I never thought that the world is this massive.”
Daisuke told Cobalt about the history of the Yora elves. From the rift between elves and humans, to the laws of the Maria Island. Most of the kids does not know that there are so much outside Maria Island until they start going in Yora Academy.
“So that’s why you cannot leave the island.”
“I was even told that only a few candidates clear the Seeker Trials.”
“I guess law is a law wherever you are.”
Daisuke couldn’t help but to be amazed on what the world has to offer. He wishes to see the grassy plains, forests, and mountains of Aria, and the vast desert, canyons, and oasis of Montagna. He is curious about the icy domain of Dragonheim and see the rumored dragons. He wanted to visit the tropical paradise of Islas, travel the rivers and lakes of Eaucove, and explore the ruins of Arkociel. More reasons for Daisuke to wish to become a Seekers.
“Do you have the volume two?”
“I wish I have that one.” Cobalt said. “I was told by the one that gave me that that the volume two is still currently being written. I’m not even sure when it will be available, or even where to get it.”
           Daisuke and Cobalt laughed.
But the book was not all about the continents of Laniagaea. When Daisuke turned to a random page he saw information about the other races, flora and fauna, and powers and magic.
“Oh. That is a dwarf.” Cobalt pointed out. “I received this book from a dwarven adventurer.”
           “There are dwarves in Aria?”
“Well, there are many adventurers, explorers, and treasure hunters all around the world. It is not unusual to see all kinds of races in Aria.”
“Are they really small? The dwarves, I mean.”
“Hmmm. Not ‘small’, but they are usually shorter, but bulkier.”
“And this one?” Daisuke pointing on a picture of another humanoid creature that have reddish skin and tattoos and scars.
“That’s an orc. They’re savage creatures, but still sentient nonetheless.”
As Daisuke flipped the page, a picture of a familiar face can be seen. It was a picture of a female elf, an illustration of Maria. And on beside her is a picture of a human.
“Now I remember.” Cobalt said. “The elf and human, together with the dwarf and orc at the previous page, are said to be the heroes of Ishvaranomachy, the First War. It is said that the great creator went down from the heavens and gave part of his remaining power to the four greatest civilizations that time. The alliance ultimately won, but ---”
“--- the war among them for power begun shortly afterwards.” Daisuke continued.
Daisuke closed the book and handed it back to Cobalt. Cobalt reverted it back to runestone and kept it on his pocket. They went outside the shrine to the observation deck. There they can have a panoramic view of the southern part of Yora village, harbor, and of the sea. They can see the elves using their power to produce woods that they use to rebuild houses that were destroyed during Sharksfin’s attempt to steal treasures.
“I have seen many Seekers on Aria.” Cobalt said. “There was this one time when I met them at Pit Valley. Even though we are humans, they helped us by using their power to grow trees, providing us shade and seasonal fruits.”
“I guess perspective can change when you gain more experience. Elves hate humans because of the past, but it seems we are also slowly healing, moving on from the past.”
For the rest of the days that Cobalt stayed in the village, Daisuke introduced him to elven cuisine (thanks to his mother Pinelia), they went to the North River for a swim (which was dangerous because of the rocky riverbed), they climb the Sacred Tree (which was not allowed as per the island’s law), catch Yoran fireflies (not allowed as well as fireflies are considered sacred by the elves), went to the Western Forest to see different species of plants and animals (they were almost eaten by tons of predatory animals and plants), and stroll at the village proper (where they got shunned by most elves; a freak and a human, elves would have thought).
Regardless, Cobalt and Daisuke had fun. For the first in Daisuke’s life, he got to enjoy hanging out with a friend. For the first time in Cobalt’s life, he got to enjoy his day without scavenging for food, trying to survive.
A week later, the time has come for Cobalt to leave the island. Cedra led a group of Seekers to escort Cobalt back to Pit Valley. Cobalt liked the life on Yora village, simple and bountiful. But he knows that his friends are waiting for him.
“Here Daisuke, I want you to have this.” Cobalt took out the runestone from his pocket and handed it over to Daisuke. “Promise me that one day, we will meet again outside.”
Daisuke gladly accepted the gift from Cobalt. “Of course. I’ll see you outside.”

Dream Hunters Chapter 1: A Boy Named Daisuke
DAISUKE HAS ALWAYS BEEN DIFFERENT.
Despite being an elf, his ears are way shorter. Instead of greenish irises, he has got a pair of dark brown eyes. Elves usually have swirly patterns on their pale skin, like crawling roots, that glows brightly when using their power to create and manipulate plants. But Daisuke, his is closer to light brown and lacks the swirly patterns that glows even though he also have the plant power. He looked like any other baby elf when he was an infant, but these uniqueness slowly appeared as he grow, and became more apparent now that he is 11 years old.
Thanks to his unique appearance, there has never been a single day that Daisuke did not got bullied by his peers. It happens inside and out of the Yora Academy, the school he attends to for the future Seekers and Elven Corps. He may have short pointy ears and plant powers, but he still somewhat resembled another race, a race that the elves truly despise --- the humans.
Elves and humans have a long history --- a bitter history that is. The elves, being one of the oldest sentient creatures that appeared in the whole Laniagaea, has witnessed the ever evolving humans. They have seen humanity grow and survive the harsh world by relying only on instincts, until humanity became highly intelligent. At one point, the humans and elves, together with the dwarves and orcs, became allies during the First War against the beings known as Ishvaras. They have ultimately won the war at a steep cost, but soon followed the inevitable: the War for Power. They fought among themselves, with humans and elves clashing with one another more often. As time goes on, the elves grew weaker due to an unforeseen event. Almost losing their immortality. Any elves outside their domain, Maria Island, were caught and enslaved. Such exotic creatures are waste for human nobles to kill. They are highly discriminated by the humans all over the world. And their sacred treasures, stolen by the treasure hunters.
Maybe Daisuke’s unique appearance was because he was never been born in the first place, most elves would have thought. His appearance is already strange enough for them, but things got a little bit more complicated for them when they were told by the Elven Council on how Daisuke appeared on the island.
It was a bright sunny day eleven years ago. Sequovas, one of the councils of Maria Island, and his wife Pinelia, were simply enjoying the sunlight near the North River, like having a picnic, when they saw a pinkish floating thing on the river. The North River has a part where it becomes too shallow and rocky. That is the farthest the pinkish floating thing got washed to.
Pinelia went to fetch it. She soon realized that it was a particularly huge fruit. “Sequovas! Look at this!”
Sequovas went running and was astounded.
“This is the sacred fruit from the Sacred Tree, isn’t it?” Pinelia was holding the fruit, showing it to Sequovas. It was shaped like an elongated acorn, or peach; it is round-shaped at one end becoming pointier at the other. It was quite heavy, she thought.
“I have never seen it up close, but yes, this is the sacred fruit.” Sequovas confirmed while still having a shock look on his face.
They decided to return to the village immediately. For Pinelia’s convenience, Sequovas offered to carry the fruit. They thought that the Elven Council should know that the sacred fruit has finally fallen from the Sacred Tree after a hundred years. However, the fruit never reached the village. As soon as the sacred fruit was held by Sequovas, it started to glow, so bright that it was blinding. The couple shut their eyes because of the brightness, with Sequovas still carrying the fruit. After a few moments, they heard a cry. Sequovas and Pinelia slowly opened their eyes and what they saw was an absolute mystery to them. Sequovas was now holding a baby boy wrapped around the skin of the sacred fruit.
They went back as fast as they could to reach the village. Sequovas was carefully carrying the baby as they were running towards the Council House.
The Council House serves as the head office of the councils and the village’s main building for the Seekers and Elven Corps. It is just below the Sacred Tree, an enormous tree at the center of the island, and in front of the Shrine of Maria. The councils are the leaders of the Yoran elves. They are the ones that decides on the laws that will be implemented on Maria Island where the Yora village is located.
Pinelia explained to the councils on what took place earlier. Sequovas showed them the baby and what remains of the sacred fruit. True to their words, the sacred fruit was gone from the Sacred Tree when they went outside and tried to look for it, and they could feel a faint mystical energy from the remains of the fruit similar to that of the Sacred Tree. There were no signs that the fruit could have been stolen as well, which is amusing, considering it has only been a week since the last attempt of treasure hunters to enter the island. It was even a miracle that the fruit and the baby survived the drop and managed to get washed away to the North River.
“We have no choice then,” said Mahogry, one of the eldest council and is considered to be the wisest. “The boy has to stay on the island as per our law. Sequovas, will you take care of him?”
Sequovas gazed at his wife, still out of words.
“I agree,” Said Grumple, one of the two female councils. “If this boy came from the Sacred Tree, then the more that we must take care of him. He must be a gift.”
“How about the others, are there any objections?” Asked Mahogry to the other councils.
Three other councils, Ananais, Orchilles, and Volcadon, had no objections. They only wished for the boy to grow well. However, one member voiced out his doubt.
“This boy, I do not have a good feeling about him,” said Durant to the councils. “I only sense trouble coming from this kid.”
The other councils know that there is no disrespect to Durant’s words. He is, after all, the most respected elven warrior in Yora, only next to the legendary maiden warrior named Maria. The other councils can also sense this faint power Durant is speaking of that is coming from the boy, a power that is familiar, yet something different.
Sequovas finally spoke, “I understand, Durant. That is why we will make sure that this boy will be raised properly.” he assured the councils.
And with that, the meeting was adjourned and the baby was taken by Pinelia to their home. The councils took care on how to address to the public the appearance of the baby.
Pinelia was so glad on the decision of the council. It’s been nearly twenty years since Sequovas and Pinelia were married and still could not have a child of their own. They have been trying, but they could just not conceive. That is why Pinelia was so pleased, and they treated the boy as if it is their own child. Eventually, Pinelia and Sequovas agreed to name the boy Daisuke.
Daisuke grew up fine since then. He grew up smart and healthy. But thanks to being bullied pretty much every day, he decided to stay at home or frequently visit the shrine of Maria.
“Back home so soon again?” Pinelia greeted Daisuke as he got home from the academy.
“Umm, there’s really nothing much to do after school anyway, mom.” Daisuke answered as he tried to go straight to his room.
“Hold it right there, young man.” Pinelia caught Daisuke. “You are going outside and play. That’s what kids do.”
“But I am not like them.”
“Yes you are. You are every inch an elf just like everybody else.”
“They’re calling me names. And that I am a monster.”
“That’s silly. How can a cute boy be a monster?”
Daisuke laughed and resigned to her mother. He knew how persuasive Pinelia can be. He decided to go out after changing clothes. Luckily, he just know a place to go. South of the Council House is the shrine of Maria. This is his favorite spot to spend his time whenever his parents would force him to play outside. Pinelia would always tell him stories about how she and Sequovas found him (although he never believes it), take him to the shrine to show gratitude to the Sacred Tree, and tell him stories about the most beautiful elf that existed, the maiden warrior Maria, the Champion of the Yoran Elves. Daisuke was amazed that such person could have existed; a beautiful war maiden that fought and sacrificed her own life to protect her people. He was told that a wooden statue was made to honor her, but it was stolen by human treasure hunters who believes that the statue was the key on finding the lost Golden Seed, a magical seed that could grant immortality to anyone or anything.
On his way, a group of elven kids saw him and decided to make fun of him. They were his classmates back at the Yora Academy.
“Hey guys look! It’s the freak!” said a chubby elf laughingly.
“You don’t belong here, short-ears!” said another elf with coffee beans on her braided hair.
Other elves were just laughing, spectating on the kids as they bully Daisuke. Other left as they do not want to be in trouble.
Daisuke tried to just ignore them and go on his way, but another elven kid bumped him. He fell down to the ground and was stepped on his chest.
Daisuke grunted. “What do you want, Capsian?”
“You really should know your place, Daisuke.” said the elf named Capsian.
Capsian raised his right arm. It suddenly glowed, then a plant sprouted. The plant continued to grow until it formed some kind of blade with red peppers on it. Cayenne peppers, Daisuke thought.
“That’s enough!” the words came from an adult elf.
The elven kids quickly scattered, while the spectating elves went on their way. The adult elf that stopped Capsian and his gang helped Daisuke to get up.
“Thank you…uhh” Daisuke stared at the adult elf.
           “The name’s Rango.”
“Thank you, Sir Rango.” Daisuke was now shaking off the dirt in his cloth.
“So, you must be that elf. The talk of the town.” Rango said intriguingly. “Where are you heading kid?”
Daisuke and Rango went to the shrine together. That day was the most peaceful day Daisuke has ever experienced outside his home. He only got bullied once. Now that’s a record.
He would then just sit on the floor of the shrine all day, looking at the old portrait of Maria. He wished he could have met the elven champion. That’s when he thought that maybe if he became a Seeker, he will be able to find the stolen statue and bring it back to this shrine.
“Umm, I have never seen you before, Sir Rango.” Daisuke uttered.
Rango sat down with Daisuke. “That actually makes sense. It’s my first time seeing you as well. You see, I’m a Seeker and just came back.”
Daisuke looked at Rango with amazement.
Daisuke was taught by his father that in order to leave the island, an elf has to become a Seeker. To protect the elven race, the elves may not leave the island unless they pass the Seeker Trials. And when they do pass the trials, they are given the mission to search for the stolen treasures of Maria Island. Other missions include returning to the island with foreign objects and possibly making a diplomatic relationship with other countries. Despite most countries being inhabited by humans, the world has improved since then albeit just a little. They even now have human allies on mainland Aria Continent.
“That’s so cool! So you must have been all around the world!”
“Hahaha! Sorry, but I have only been in Aria. That’s where my assignment was.”
“I like to become a Seeker too one day.”
“Really? And where will you go if you become a Seeker?
Daisuke’s eyes gazed upon the portrait of Maria. “I’m gonna look for the wooden statue of Maria and bring it back here.”
Rango was a little bit surprised on how Daisuke spoke those words. He felt Daisuke’s sincerity and determination. “Hmmm. Well I’m sure you’ll be a great Seeker one day.”
The two of them spent time together at the shrine. Rango told Daisuke his adventures in Aria continent, how he ment different races, fought enemies, learned different cultures, tasted exotic foods. Daisuke cannot help but to be amazed on what the world has to offer.
It could have been just another day at the shrine for Daisuke. For a change though, someone was accompanying him. But alas, a group of treasure hunters just had to invade the island and try to steal what treasure remains on the village.
The treasure hunters that attacked the island are known as the Fishbone Hunters, a notorious treasure hunters that operates on the lands and seas of Aria Continent. They are led by a man known as Captain Sharksfin. Nobody knows his real name. He is only known as Sharksfin because of the unique sword he uses that is made up of sharks’ fins.
Sharksfin was once a pirate. But his crew was annihilated by the United Alliance, an alliance of countries that are against treasure hunters. After losing most of his crew, he resorted in kidnapping men and children, and turned them to treasure hunters. The youngest of his crew was a little boy named Cobalt. He was recently kidnapped by Sharksfin on a certain slum country of Aria continent. Cobalt was afraid, and does not like fighting. And so he was trained to be part of Sharksfin’s elite group. He was taught to move fast and avoid any confrontation that could stop him from his task.
“Gyahahahaha!! More! More! Bombard those elves more!” Sharksfin ordered from his ship.
He has got three ships which once a part of his six-ship fleet. Now down to three, he simply couldn’t afford to lose them, so he always attack from the distance with the cannons. The cannons were strong enough to reach the village and destroy houses. The councils ordered a mass evacuation near the Sacred Tree.
Daisuke stayed inside the shrine as instructed to him by Rango, who went to the warrior elves and help them get organized. Durant led them to the hills that separates beach and the village. There they waited for the treasure hunters.
Back at the main ship of the Fishbone hunters, Sharksfin started to order a guy with a weird face.
“Oy! Squidface! Get those kids ready!”
“Aye sire!” Squidface went down the ship to see five kids, one of them was Cobalt. He showed them a map which resembled the village of Yora. “This is where the sacred treasures are. Take what you can and come back fast. Avoid the elves at all cost. Sharksfin will deal with them.”
As soon as Sharksfin saw the elves on the hills of the island near the beach, Sharksfin decided to start his ground assault. “Time for us to get some elves, boys!”
His crew cheered. Smaller boats went to the shores of the island. As they landed, the elves immediately attacked. The elves used their plant powers against the hunters. Those who have never seen the elves in action were easily defeated. But those who have already seen the elven power managed to fight on par, like Sharksfin.
Durant and Sharksfin clashed. “You will not take anything from our land!”
Using his power, he produced a tree branch from his arms, and at the end grew a large durian fruit. He swung his durian fruit like a mace against Sharksfin who was parrying his attack using a unique sword.
“We’ll see about that!” Sharksfin equipped his sharks’ fins blade and engaged Durant.
While the fighting was happening on the beach, Squidface and the five children have already managed to sneak into the village without being noticed. They did not waste any time and went straight to shrine of Maria. Since the elven warriors thought that it was only a frontal assault, most of them went to the beach.
Aside from Durant, Ananais and Sequovas also went to fight. The remaining elves were evacuated to the Sacred Tree. The village was still being hit by the cannonballs from the ships of Sharksfin and only a handful of elves could use their power to shield the village from the bombardment.
“Finally, were here.” said one of the young hunters.
“Calix, wait. Someone’s there.” Another kid said.
Daisuke was still inside the shrine. He was crying, scared from the explosions caused by the cannons.
“Gehehehehe, well look at that. Take him as well. He could be sold for a bag of lania.” Squidface ordered.
Calix approached Daisuke. “You’re coming with me.”
“No!” Daisuke resisted and bit Calix’s arm. Calix swatted him and he fell down.
Calix went to him, kicked and punched him. Daisuke’s face is now bleeding and blue. Cobalt, the youngest member of the group, tried to stop Calix.
“P-please! That’s enough. He could no longer resist.”
Calix kicked Cobalt as well. “Stay out of my way, twerp!” He then proceed to tie Daisuke and drag him back to Sharksfin. Still conscious though, Daisuke can see that the man called Squidface was taking down the portrait of Maria. He tried to say some words, but he could not due to the pain and grogginess.
But when the portrait was taken down completely and was instead destroyed by Squidface for being useless to them, anger built up on Daisuke. He mustered his strength and screamed. “NOOOOOOO!!”
Everything happened so quickly. Calix and the other kids were suddenly blown away by an unknown force released by Daisuke. Squidface managed to stand his ground and saw Daisuke, freed from his entanglement. He was horrified when he saw that the bruised face of Daisuke was quickly restoring. Daisuke’s eyes started to glow bright green. His skin is turning ash gray and covered with black hexagonal patterns. Squidface does not know what was happening.
Trees started to grow inside and out of the shrine. The roof of the shrine eventually got torn off because of those trees. Variety of bushed and shrubs grew on the shrine’s wall. There’s no way out for Squidface and his crew now. He tried to attack Daisuke, hoping that the growing plants would stop if Daisukeis killed. As he sheathed his sword though, Daisuke’s gaze turned to him. He tried to charge Daisuke, but vines wrapped all around his right leg. Daisuke extended his arms towards Squidface. He made a grasping gesture with his hand and the vines constricted, crushing Squidface’s right leg.
“Kyaaaaaaah!” he howled in pain after every bone in his right leg was crushed.
After breaking Squidface’s leg with constricting vines, Daisuke turned to the other kids. A small tree grew from Daisuke’s right arm until it became a massive wooden arm. Out of fear, the kids could not do anything but scream as Daisuke beat them with his wooden arm.
Daisuke then looked around. He saw the kid named Cobalt, trembling in fear. As he approach Cobalt, Cobalt lost consciousness.
The force that Daisuke released was made of mana, a mystical energy that is present in all living organisms. Daisuke had no control on the mana that he released, which is why it was felt all over the island, and maybe even out of it. It was felt by everyone on the island, enough to stop the clash at the beach and induce fear to the civilians. Without hesitation, Sharksfin and his crew retreated, knowing that that level of mana is not worth any treasure and rather leave in one piece. The elven warriors immediately went back to the village. Durant and Sequovas ordered the elven warriors to keep the citizens safe from whatever the source of the abnormally strong mana. Rango, on the other hand, was stunned when he felt the mana coming from the shrine.
They were all surprised when they reached the area near the shrine. It is as if a forest has emerged. It was no mistaking it, Sequovas and Durant thought. Even Rango has an idea on what’s happening.
“Everyone, calmly go to the evacuation area. Take everyone to the South Harbor and leave the island.” Durant ordered.
Many veteran elves protested. They do not want to leave the councils behind to fight whatever the source of the strong mana that is constantly being released. However, Sequovas urged them to leave, for the safety of majority.
As soon as most of the elves left for the harbor, Grumple, Orchilles, Volcadon, and Mahogry met with the other councils.
“The day we all feared has arrived,” said Durant. “We stop it right here, right now. Do you object, Sequovas?”
“What has to be done, has to be done. I have no objection to that.” Sequovas answered.
Trees that were blocking the entrance of the shrine suddenly exploded, filling the area with dust and smoke. A creature slowly walked out. When the councils saw the silhouette, they released their own mana and used their powers.
Sequovas created six floating green orbs, the famous sequoia bombs. Durant used his power to produce a sphere of mana all over him, which resembles a translucent durian fruit. Grumple summoned a golem resembling a tree with apple fruits all over it. Ananais’ arms turned into a cannon-like thing made of pineapple crowns with a glowing golden pineapple as ammunition. Orchilles summoned several gigantic orchids that looked like serpents. Volcadon surrounded himself with floating avocado seeds. Mahogry had a bamboo spear with emerald tip, and a wing-like thing sprouted on his back, which looks like mahogany seeds.
As the smoke from the explosion subsided, they saw Daisuke, carrying a boy. He fell down to his knee and dropped the boy. Nonetheless, Durant tried to attack, but Sequovas used his power to block Durant’s path. He threw the green orbs in front of Durant and it exploded. From the explosion, giant sequoia trees grew.
           “SEQUOVAS!!” Durant screamed.
“What are you doing, Sequovas?” Mahogry asked.
“I believe there is no longer a threat.” Sequovas calmly answered. He canceled his power and went to Durant. “I apologize. I will accept any punishment, but let my son live for now.”
The other councils canceled their powers as well. Some of them went to the harbor to meet with the people. Ananais and Grumple stayed behind with Sequovas and Durant.
“You are all out of your mind!” said Durant said, then left.
Sequovas went to Daisuke, who is now unconscious. He does not know who was the kid Daisuke was carrying (which turned out to be Cobalt) or why he was even carrying him. The other two councils does not know who the kid was as well. But seeing that Daisuke was carrying him, they decided to tend to the kid’s wounds. There was no sign that Daisuke was beaten up however. There was also no sign of the hexagonal pattern that appeared on his skin, which already reverted to brown from ash gray.
Daisuke and Cobalt were then taken to the medical center where they rested for three more days

Dream Hunters Chapter 22: Parting Ways
AURELIUS AND COMMODUS WALKED into the arena. As they walked, people cheered on them.
Aurelius has been known in the entire empire as the greatest swordsman. He fights with a short sword called gladius and a small circular shield. As a sign of being a legatus, he is wearing a unique armor and an eagle helmet.
Commodus is a spear user. No one has beaten him with his choice of weapon. Like Aurelius, he is a legatus and wears an eagle helmet. He and Aurelius has been friends since they were kids.
“We meet again, Daisuke.” Said Aurelius.
           “Aurelius.” Daisuke replied.
“Oy Aurelius, the barbarian is mine.” Said Commodus.
“Suit yourself. I’d like to spend some time with the elf anyway.”
Commodus charged to Siegfried. The speed of Commodus surprised Siegfried, but he was still able to react accordingly. Soldiers came into the arena, dividing Siegfried and Daisuke.
“Come on, barbarian!” Commodus taunted. “Show me the strength that defeated three cohorts!”
“No! I’ll show you the strength that defeated a legion!”
Siegfried charged Commodus and released countless of quick slashes, to which Commodus simply dodges.
Daisuke tried to help Siegfried, but Aurelius cut off him. “Now, now, Daisuke. I’m your opponent.”
“I don’t want to fight you, Aurelius.”
“Neither do I. Now, just follow my lead.”
Daisuke got confused. He and Aurelius still exchanged slashes as if they were just sparring.
“Try to hit harder, Daisuke. People will think we’re just playing around.”
Daisuke did slashed harder and quicker. “What’s going on, Aurelius? And why do you smell like rotten egg?”
“Not important. Anyway, you’ve enjoyed fighting too much that I think you’re forgetting something.”
Daisuke tried to recall what he have forgotten. “Oh dear. I’ve totally forgotten about Riku, Jack, and Raijin!”
Aurelius released a barrage of slashes to Daisuke. “They’ll be out shortly. On my signal, use your powers to send yourselves up in the air.”
           “Wha---”
A ring of fire suddenly exploded. From the pit where Brunnhilde once emerged came out a briar of roses that carried Riku, Jack, Raijin, and Brunnhilde. The crowd cheered even louder.
           “A-Aurelius?” said Jack.
“It’s nice to see you again, guys. Care to join the fun?”
The soldiers ran towards the new arrivals, breaking the wall of shield and spear that divided Siegfried and Daisuke.
“Raijin, stay with Brunnhilde!” said Riku. “Let’s go, Jack!”
Riku and Jack used their powers and countered the soldiers that charged them.
“Awww. Your friends has arrived.” Said Commodus. He then looked up and saw four eagles circling around.
           “What’s happening?” asked Siegfried.
“Your ride is here too.” Commodus attacked Siegfried, leading him towards Aurelius and Daisuke.
Soon, all of them were surrounded by the soldiers.
“Princess!” Siegfried sheathed his swords and run towards Brunnhilde. “Are you okay?”
“You worry too much, Siegfried. I am fine, thanks to these brave warriors.”
“Raijin! Come here and hold on me tight.” Daisuke ordered.
           Raijin ran towards Daisuke. “Done.”
“Ugh. Have you’ve been in the sewer?”
Riku grabbed Brunnhilde. “Come on, princess. Time to go.”
“Hey! What do you think you’re doing?” asked Siegfried.
“Siegfried. If you don’t mind.” Jack gestured to Siegfried.
“Grab on him, Siegfried. Tightly. That’s an order.”
“Men! Raise you spears!” Commodus ordered.
The soldiers pointed their spears towards the six.
Aurelius smiled. “On my signal!”
           The elves charged their power.
“See you on the other side. Now!”
The soldiers roared as they tried to stab the six, but the elves used their power to create plants and propel their selves up in the air. When they were high enough, the four eagles swooped in. They landed on the eagles and flew away from the arena.
           “Noooooooo!!” shouted the emperor.
The eagle riders tried to go after them, but golden feathered giant eagles are faster than the average giant eagles.
“Emilia!” Daisuke screamed. “It’s nice to see you guys again!”
The eagles landed in a forest far away from the empire.
Daisuke looked at the Traeuxian leaders with a confused face. “Umm…Ahh…Where do we begin? Hahaha!”
“It’s all thanks to Sir Aurelius.” Said Emilia. “He helped us come up with a plan to save you guys.”
“Well, Emilia here insisted in helping you all.” Faustus added. “We even resorted to some haphazard measures.”
           Emilia blushed.
“At the top of the Eagle Towers are special horns that only the royalties may use. Emilia, being a royalty, was able to summon four golden giant eagles.” Said Quintus.
“We rode the eagles to the arena and simply waited for Sir Aurelius’s command.” Julius added.
Siegfried looked at Brunnhilde. “And what about that going-up-the-beanstalk thing?”
“Well, we got lost inside the sewers. So we tried to backtrack. And on our way, we bumped into Aurelius and Commodus. They told us where to go and what to do.” Brunnhilde explained.
“Why would Aurelius and Commodus help us?” asked Daisuke.
“We guess Sir Aurelius just like you guys. As for Sir Commodus, the two of them has been friends ever since they were kids. I’m sure Sir Commodus trusts Sir Aurelius’s judgment.” Said Faustus.
“And what about you guys?” asked Jack. “Isn’t this treason to your emperor?”
“The emperor is not the empire.” Said Emilia. “Aurelius already knows what to do to him. Besides, the four of us decided to go on our own adventure.”
“Where will you guys go?” asked Raijin.
“We haven’t decided yet. We still have to plan out everything.” Said Julius.
“How about you, Siegfried. Where will you and Brunnhilde go?” asked Daisuke.
“We need to get to Snow Cape peninsula.” Said Siegfried. “That’s the last place the expedition planned to go.”
“The Dragon Raiders might still be there, assuming they still haven’t left us here.” Brunnhilde added.
“Maybe we can give you a lift then.” Faustus offered. “It’ll only take us a week to get there with these giant eagles.”
Brunnhilde remembered the flashes she saw during her captivity. Being the daughter of the most powerful mage, she received many gifts; healing magic, divination, familiar summoning, and earth magic, her elemental affinity.
She saw a series of events that are yet to come. Events that included a dark-skinned elf. And so far, the only elf she saw who has a darker complexion compared to other elves like Riku and Jack is Daisuke.
“That won’t be necessary. Besides, the earth is my elemental affinity. I would rather be near the earth than to fly up in the sky.” Said Brunnhilde.
“But Princess, the Dragon Raiders might---”
“The Dragon Raiders will not leave without their princess. If they come back to Drasgard without me, they’ll face the wrath of my father. Even the raiders know fear, Siegfried.”
Emilia grinned. “Trust her with that one, Siegfried. I know exactly what she’s saying.”
           Everyone laughed.
“Now come on, let’s setup a camp here for tonight. We can catch some wild boars around here and have a small feast.” Said Faustus.
The group ate, drank, and exchanged stories. Faustus told the group how they sacrificed a village just save Daisuke and his friends. Riku told them how they managed to escape the Capital prison. Daisuke told the group how they helped the gladiators escape and how he and Siegfried beaten one legion.
The next morning, the group exchanged their final farewell to each other. Emilia has been the most emotional. She wished she could join Daisuke’s group, but she and her ex co-leaders have other plans. Faustus then gave a lootbag of lanias to Daisuke, a gift from Aurelius.
As the eagles left, Daisuke faced Raijin. “So, which way is the Arcanas Kingdom?”
“That would be east from this forest.” Said Raijin. “If the Quintus is right, we’ll reach it in seven days on foot.”
“Well, maybe we do not need to go on foot.” Said Brunnhilde.
“What’s on your mind, Brunnhilde?” asked Riku.
“If anyone could spare me some mana, I could summon us wolves that we could ride.”
Daisuke volunteered. “Okay. How do I give my mana?”
           “Hold my hands.”
“Woah, wait. Why hold hands?” asked Siegfried.
“Yeah. Last time we did it, I just placed mine on the back of your hands.”
“Impertinence! You did what?!” asked Siegfried.
“You guys are too loud.” Brunnhilde grabbed Daisuke’s hands. Riku gazed elsewhere. “Now, imagine using your powers. But instead of making trees, you’re just letting your mana flow freely, releasing some in the process.” Brunnhilde instructed.
“Okay.” Daisuke did what Brunnhilde. And in a few seconds, he felt his hand getting warmer. Then, in a minute, he felt something, like a force is grabbing his hands. “Umm, I, ah, starting to feel something.”
“That’s probably me. I can now feel the mana you’re releasing and absorbing it inside me.”
“Wow! I wish I also have some mana to spare.” Said Raijin.
“Alright! I guess I have enough mana now.”
“Hmmm. If you know how to use magic, why don’t you use your own mana?” asked Daisuke.
“My father placed a runic symbol on my back to regulate my mana. But I, being a stubborn child, came up with a solution. Since it only detects my mana, I could just absorb others.”
“That’s actually pretty neat.” Said Riku.
“Do you want to see runic symbol on my back, Daisuke?”
“T-that won’t be necessary. Please. The wolves.” Said Daisuke
Brunnhilde smiled at Daisuke, then wrote some runic symbols on the ground. “I call upon thee: Geri! Freki!”
The runic symbol glowed. And from the ground leaped two large wolves, one with snow-white fur, and another with night-black fur. The wolves howled and bowed to Brunnhilde.
“Woah. I did not expected them to be that large.”
“This is Geri, and this is Freki. They should be large enough to carry three heads each.”
The group ridden on top of the wolves. Jack rode on Freki. Behind him is Raijin and Riku. On Geri are Siegfried, Brunnhilde, and Daisuke.
“Princess, hold on to me. You might fall down.” Said Siegfried.
“Thanks.” Brunnhilde replied. “You should grab on me as well, Daisuke. Safety first.”
Riku breathed heavily “Alright guys. To Arcanas Kingdom!”
--- End of Colosseum Empire Arc ---
Seven days later after the events on the Capital.
Aurelius and Commodus has led a rebellion against the current emperor. They claimed that the emperor was the one who killed his brother Caesar and has been the one who keeps on paying barbarians to attack Traeux XII to eliminate Emilia.
Almost all Traeux and Lagaian villages joined his cause, while only three Lagaian villages --- I, II, and III remained loyal to the Capital.
The rebellion ended after six months when Aurelius has finally convinced the people of the Capital about the dirty works of the emperor. This is thanks to Emilia and the barbarians who gave the information about the crimes of Tiberius.
Thanks to the interrogation of barbarians the Lagaian XII conducted, and the information Faustus and Emilia provided, the conspiracy between the emperor and barbaric tribes around the empire was uncovered. And the death of the late Caesar was finally solved.
The emperor was sentenced to be imprisoned until his death. And those soldiers, nobles, and senators that has been loyal to the previous emperor were given choices; swear their loyalty to the next emperor, or be imprisoned until their death.
Aurelius was then nominated to be the next emperor of Colosseum Empire. He refused at first. But Commodus and the other legatus persuaded him to take the position.
As the new emperor, he made a few adjustments to the current system of Colosseum Empire. Five cohorts from every Lagaian villages where sent to their respective sister Traeux villages to strengthen the border. The Eagle riders will no longer stay in the Capital and must patrol the Traeux and Lagaian villages as well. To ensure that every soldier have experience in protecting the borders, Commodus suggested that the soldiers will be rotated every three months. Including the six legions of the Capital. And although reluctant, Emperor Aurelius also signed a treaty with the barbarians.
The gladiator fights still continued, however. This has been a tradition for centuries. Criminals were still punished accordingly and are sentenced to be a gladiator on some occasions. Those who wishes to earn money by fighting are also welcomed to join the gladiator fights.
The Colosseum Empire has been known for their great military strength. But with Aurelius’s leadership, it became even well known to the entire Aria and other parts of the world. Even to the United Alliance and Hunters’ Horde.
