Many people forget that Islam is not evil. This religion has been hijacked by people who need an excuse to do horrible things. These people don't represent the religion. These few extremists do not represent the mass majority of Muslims. We tend to forget that Islam is just one of many religions that have been hijacked and used to promote something horrific. Westboro Baptist Church doesn't represent all Christians in the same way that terrorists do not represent all Muslims. Don't forget that.

rest in peace to the lives lost in the tragedy of yesterday. please pray for those involved that they will find peace. again please remember we are a multicultural society. all the work we have done and continue to do to make this country an accepting, open and free place to live should not be tarnished by one mans vindictive vendetta. islamic australians stand by us in this. they are our brothers and sisters coinciding and working towards a better future just like we are. protect them against ignorance. we protect our mates, no matter what heritage they have, it's the australian way. we can survive anything together. stand up to hate, stay safe, hope for peace.

Just after 2:00am AEST the Martin place siege came to an end.

Four were injured.

The gunman is dead.

Two hostages are dead.

wow man.. i live in sydney.. 40 minute drive from that exact place.. it's 3.20am.. 17 hours and i have never been more proud of my country. we didn't just rush in and killed the guy, we gave the hostages their best chance of survival! seriously so proud of the nsw police!!!
