Summary:

Bly is barely nineteen, quick and resilient, strong and healthy and more than willing. But it’s always been Cody who’s held down the work, made a good impression on the foremen and factory owners and played off the polite-young-unfortunate angle.

They’re just a couple of unfortunates trying their best to keep themselves out of the prisons and their youngest brother out of the workhouses; no one has to know any more than that.

Hi! You may have noticed that I recently added a part to chapter III.1 ( chapter 7 numerically ), and may have wondered why I even bothered 😂 Well, several things were on l my mind that I wanted to resolve :

1.1) Show how Ezra ( in this story, at least ) is trying to keep a low profile in the world at large ( i.e. he wants to ‘stay dead or missing’ ) because he is far wiser now than he was as his teenage self, back when he was last in the known Star Wars galaxy. He doesn’t necessarily want to attract any attention to himself being one of the few surviving Jedi, for many reasons that you can glean from reading the fic ( 😁 );

1.2) Show how Ezra interacts with other people outside of his immediate ‘family’ ( i.e., Kanan, Hera, Zeb, Sabine, and even Kallus, Hondo, etc. ), particularly ‘ordinary’ folk who don’t have the desire or capability to be active in the larger conflicts of the galaxy;

2) Portray Peli the way I see her, since a) I absolutely ADORE her character ( from The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett ), b) I’ve mentioned her several times already throughout the fic and it didn’t feel right to not have her make what is essentially a ‘cameo’ in this story;

3) Flesh out how I would imagine the Phantom II would… Progress. 😊 Ever since I was young, I’d always been an enthusiast of impossible technology ( which is the main reason why I LOVE sci fi, steampunk, etc etc, and of course, Star Wars )… So this is a way for me to indulge that side of myself.

Well, speaking of indulging THAT… Here are some sketches of the Phantom II ( or rather, what I called the Phantom II.1 in the fic 😊 ). Ever since I saw this little Sheathipede that Sabine modified to fit the purposes of the Ghost crew, I’ve been OBSESSED at imagining how it could be improved to be more capable and be on par with the best starfighters out there.

I designed it to basically be sufficiently armed, agile, and quick enough to be competitive in a dogfight with any ship; be capable of functioning as a residence / base of operations for a lone, maybe a couple of ( very close ) Jedi; be a viable research / exploration vessel that can sustain its crew for very, VERY, long periods of time ( hence it being equipped by a refresher ( since sanitation and hygiene is key to comfort and health long-term; also, it functions as a water recycling facility for the ship ( from urine, waste water, even excess moisture from the atmosphere of the ship )), conservator ( food and water ), and utility room ( to fix broken or cobble together new equipment, fix clothes, fix the ship, etc )).

ALL VERY RELEVANT, since being in a completely new, hitherto UNEXPLORED galaxy is a major theme that I’ve delved into in this fic…

Today I have made a meaningless discovery. As it turns out, the man who coined the term 'Steampunk' is the same man who gave Boba Fett the "sex before marriage is immoral" belief. The more you know?

I think the star wars franchise may be overestimating our love for the star wars canon and underestimating our love for human actors along side Henson creations. I tuned in to Boba Fett because the actor is terrific (and love seeing older actresses on screen) but wasn't sold until he tamed a bantha and got a pet rancor. Mandalorian stories aren't terrible but we're mostly here to watch actors get attached to animatronic baby yoda.

Zero interest in obi wan or the other one or even Andor (i hear it's good but i'd rather watch movies that aren't vetted by disney about revolution). Not because I don't like Ewan McGregor just no interest in exploring what we already know. No interest in grey jedi stories either.

I think, to be totally fair, there's a opening in my heart for basically any human and muppet/henson creature adventures - either can be the sidekick.

In space, steampunk travels, fantasy, private detective, heists, horror movies... Doesn't have to be child friendly, doesn't matter if it is. I think i'd be a lot more into current star trek if it was leaning in to the dynamic of humans and aliens with vastly different approaches.

I don't know but I feel like there's an untapped market for the odd couple teamup show with a good henson creatures design.

My review of Mando s3 was it was fun but it's clear we are *never* going to explore droid sapience/slavery or transhumanist disability/prosthetics even when it's just painfully right there in the picture. I mean, not sure disney could handle it well but the 'that droid is my friend', then in story 'that droid is a disposable tool' dissonance gets weird fast.

John F. Strangeway is a cosplayer, chainmail artist, and convention personality who hails from the Atlanta, Georgia area. Perhaps most well known as the Steampunk Boba Fett, Strangeway has a historied background in cosplay culture, beginning with his humble New Jersey origin story.

Going as far back as ten years old painting his older brother's Warhammer Blood Angels squad while listening to Rush, Strangeway can't remember a time when he wasn't interested in sci-fi and fantasy. From his wide range of fandoms came a Star Wars and Steampunk crossover that would inspire music, fan films, and eventually even get his image officially licensed by Star Wars, thanks to artist Brian Kesinger. Since its 2009 debut at Dragon Con, the Steampunk Boba Fett has redefined both fandoms and gone down in infamy as one of the most widely recognized Steampunk cosplay images.
