Ask and ye shall recieve! Let me select one of my characters to infodump about for today...

Gosh, the picture's big, but nonetheless. This is Sand. Sand was originally created to fill out some prompts when I had art block one day, the prompt being "Time Merchant". So naturally, Sand is a merchant of time. They reside on the banks of the Sea of the Dead, and when people die and aren't ready to move on, Sand sidles up to them to make a deal. A little more time for them, so long as Sand gets to keep their clock of life when they do eventually return.

How does Sand get this time, you ask? Well, let's just say security has been after them for centuries. But Sand cannot be caught. Sand gets anywhere they want to go and you cannot stop them.

Sand also lives in a cave. If you have any questions about Sand, I will be more than happy to ramble further.

Sketchbook

My mother gifted me a sketchbook on 2017, and I decided to fill it up within a year despite lack of experience. This project was inspired by PeterDraws. All art was done with ink to fight against perfectionist urge to undo mistakes.

how did you learn drawing?

I might use this question as an excuse to ramble on cause I LOVE talking about art. Im gonna phrase this more as advice:

I use it as an outlet! Its like how I unwind, or cope. So Im able to get a lot of practice in! I do lots of studies, ones that take hours, but also quick, brief 10 minute ones! Of things like nature, animals, portraits, people, anatomy. And i’ve totally rid the concept of perfectionism. Mistakes are the best way to improve the quickest, so long as you know when you’re making a mistake, you have to be open to criticism! Use people’s words and perspective on your art as a tool, whether negative, or positive.

I also learned painting theory through a tutor I just so happened to meet one day. When I left tutoring from her after a few years I continued learning through Youtube. I love fine art, but I don’t really post mine much. Youtubers that personally helped me a TON are PeterDraws, James Gurney (incredible for color theory and landscapes), and Paint Coach. Learning the basics to oldschool art theory helped me improve my “fanart” drastically.

Play with everything and draw what you love to draw! I don’t draw anything that I don’t feel like drawing. Drawing anything all the time will always help, so long as it’s not a carbon copy image of the same subject every single time. Focus on traditional art as well! Digital art is awesome, but personally, I feel like traditional is much looser and free, and really sharpens your fine motor skills. I still love digital of course.

Also I drew exclusively furries well up until highschool, so there’s always time to change things up and take a different route in art.

He is such a warm hug in terms of content, I need his videos constantly playing in the background haha! tbh I don’t watch a lot of YouTube but there are a handful that I love! but I can’t promise they’ll have the same vibe, my taste is varied so I can only say that they make me happy! It’s would be nice if they did the same for you too!
