What are your thoughts on Stuart Varney from Fox Business? Sexy old man!
Handsome, short(which I love), and he has nice legs. If I go by my 10 point scale with what I see, he'd be 7 out 10.

Torri Lonergan at MMFA:
Right-wing media appear not to be fully aligned with President Donald Trump’s framing of his tariffs. After announcing tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, Trump administration officials tried to claim this was the start of a “drug war” rather than a trade war, insisting that Trump imposed the tariffs to combat fentanyl trafficking. However, some right-wing media figures have acknowledged that Trump’s tariffs are a tactic in a trade war that is hurting the economy.
The Trump administration has repeatedly insisted its tariffs are part of a drug war, not a trade war
On March 4, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico. The administration said the tariffs were intended to combat “the flow of contraband drugs like fentanyl into the United States.” Trump complained that both countries have “allowed fentanyl to come into our country at levels never seen before, killing hundreds of thousands of our citizens” and said the tariffs will continue until the fentanyl crisis “stops, or is seriously limited.” Trump also imposed a 20% tariff on imports from China using the same rationale. [White House, 2/1/25, 3/3/25; Associated Press, 3/4/25, 3/5/25; Truth Social, 2/27/25; Tax Foundation, 3/7/25]
National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett told Fox’s Martha MacCallum, “This is not a trade war. It’s a drug war.” Hassett complained that Canada is “not trying hard enough” to prevent fentanyl trafficking and claimed that’s why tariffs were implemented. [Fox News, The Story with Martha MacCallum, 3/4/25]
On Fox, Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro insisted, “It’s a drug war, not a trade war.” Navarro reiterated this point to Politico and CNN and while speaking to reporters outside the White House. [Fox News, America Reports, 2/3/25; Politico, 2/4/25; CNN, The Situation Room, 3/5/25; C-SPAN, 2/3/25]
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told Bloomberg, “This is not a trade war. This is a drug war.” Lutnick made the same argument on Fox Business, Fox News, and CNBC, insisting the tariffs are about fentanyl deaths rather than trade policy. [Bloomberg, 3/5/25; Fox Business, Kudlow, 3/4/25; Fox News, America Reports, 3/5/25; CNBC, Squawk Box, 3/4/25]
Fox News helped amplify Trump's “drug war” narrative. The Trump administration’s propagandist allies at Fox News were initially helpful in rebranding the unnecessary trade war against America’s neighbors as a necessary step in a “drug war” against fentanyl while the administration spread misinformation about the crisis. [Media Matters, 3/5/25]
While U.S. officials have claimed this is a “drug war,” both Canadian and Mexican leaders have labeled it a “trade war.” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada “will continue to be in a trade war that was launched by the United States for the foreseeable future.” Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated, “We don’t want to enter into a trade war.” [Reuters, 3/6/25; The New York Times, 3/4/25]
Fox Business anchor Liz Claman said, “We have a trade war. Let’s just call it what it is.” Claman questioned how long “the people of America will remain patient, especially when they may have checked in on their 401(k)s at the worst points of the session today and really gulped and got worried, especially people who are close to retirement.” [Fox Business, The Claman Countdown, 3/4/25]
Fox anchor John Roberts said, “It could be that there’s a little bit of a trade war brewing between the United States and Canada.” [Fox News, America Reports, 3/4/25]
Newsmax host Rob Schmitt reported, “Trump's commerce secretary says this trade war will likely be over before it really even begins.” Schmitt also noted that “tariffs are freaking out Wall Street.” [Newsmax, Rob Schmitt Tonight, 3/4/25]
One America News’ Pearson Sharp predicted that China is “probably prepared to go higher” on reciprocal tariffs in response to “the trade war.” Sharp also said China “didn’t think this was about fentanyl. They thought this was about the trade deficit, and they thought that maybe these things should be separate issues, and we should work on the trade deficit and not use the fentanyl as — what they said — an excuse to address it.” [One America News, The Matt Gaetz Show, 3/5/25]
Certain right-wing media personalities have admitted that Donald Trump’s so-called “drug war” is really a trade war, especially towards China, Canada, and Mexico.

Watching some political programming this evening. Wanted to get your opinion as to who would the best bottom: Karl Rove, Mike Huckabee, Stuart Varney or Chris Christie? If I could take one of these men to bed it would be Huckabee!
Although I love a big bottomed man, I'm looking at you Chris Christie.

Lydia O'Connor at HuffPost:
Former Fox Business host Lou Dobbs has died. He was 78. Former President Donald Trump was the first to reveal the news, posting a tribute to his ally on social media. “The Great Lou Dobbs has just passed away — A friend, and truly incredible Journalist, Reporter, and Talent,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He understood the World, and what was ‘happening,’ better than others.” “Lou was unique in so many ways, and loved our Country,” Trump continued. “Our warmest condolences to his wonderful wife, Debi, and family. He will be greatly missed!” Fox News Media confirmed the news, saying in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lou Dobbs. An incredible business mind with a gift for broadcasting, Lou helped pioneer cable news into a successful and influential industry.”
Former CNN and Fox Business host Lou Dobbs died at 78. Earlier this year, he joined Lindell TV, owned by serial election denier Mike Lindell.
Dobbs started at CNN at its launch in 1980, and was known for straight-laced economic news reporting during that time. He left CNN to create Space.com in 1999. He was replaced by Willow Bay and future FBN colleague Stuart Varney.
In 2000, he returned to CNN, and this is where his turn towards right-wing populism started, obsessively criticizing immigration and championing the loony conspiracies about Barack Obama’s birth certificate. Dobbs left CNN in 2009.
In 2010 until February 2021, Dobbs went to Fox Business to serve up more of the same that he was known for during his 2nd CNN stint. Once Donald Trump’s 2016 run for President began, he became a massive pro-Trump propaganda pusher.
Dobbs left FBN in February 2021 after being named in Smartmatic’s lawsuit against Fox “News” over the channel’s role in promoting election denialism in the aftermath of the 2020 elections.

List 5 topics you can talk on for an hour without preparing any material
tagged by: @eldritchteletubbie (thanks!)
1. The life of Mary Stuart O’Donnell and the related Irish politics of the early 1600s. I got into researching her life a few years ago and, while the project is on the back-burner, it’s still of great interest to me. After reaching out to several historians who had written about her (however small the writing), it sparked a bit more interest in said historians and more research and articles started cropping up in the subsequent years which was neat to see. There isn’t a lot recorded about her, but what we do know is fascinating: I’d love some day to travel to Ireland so I can read and transcribe her letters from the National Library. They currently don’t exist in any digitalized or transcribed format.
2. Theology, generally speaking, but recently I’ve been really digging into the theology of gender and sexuality which has been fun. I can also go on for quite a while about the necessity of reading the Bible within cultural, temporal, and textual context.
3. Most video games that I’ve played. But especially We Happy Few and Genshin Impact. WHF had me in a choke hold for over a year and still is of great interest to me. The game mechanics are janky as hell but the writing, characters, themes, and environmental storytelling are deeply compelling. Genshin is immersive, massive, emotional, character-driven, and rich with plot and lore. There’s just so much to talk about! I did actually talk for over and hour about both of these games on my first date with my now partner. That’s how you know he’s a real one.
4. Environmental activism and sustainability in all of their intertwined facets.
5. The history of vampire literature, with a focus in pre-1900 works. Der Vampire, the Vampyre, Carmilla, Clairmonde, the works of Paul Feval peré, Varney the Vampire, Dracula, etc. And the way that the cultural climate of the times influenced what fears vampires represented. Was it the seductress? The predatory man? The homosexual? The aristocracy? The con man? Humanism? Catholicism? The list goes on. Vampire literature is just so fascinating and I love researching and discussing this topic

[ad_1] Energy Secretary Chris Wright railed against clean energy tax credits on Tuesday, defending the Trump administration’s efforts to increase manufacturing powered by coal, natural gas and oil.  His criticism of financial incentives for citizens’ use of renewable energy came during a morning appearance on Fox Business’s “Varney & Co” and coincided with Earth Day — which is typically hailed as a time to champion environmental protections.  “I think it’s a big mistake,” Wright told host Stuart Varney, referring to energy tax credits. “That term 'clean energy' is just a marketing term. There’s no clean energy. All energy sources involve trade-offs," he continued. "Solar and wind take over 100 times more land, 10 times more steel and cement and heavy materials to produce. There’s no clean energy; there’s just different trade-offs." Currently the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), provides a residential credit to help fund the cost of clean energy improvements — those that seek to curb greenhouse gas emissions — installed from 2022 through 2032. Qualifying expenses include solar electric panels, solar water heaters, wind turbines, geothermal heat pumps, fuel cells and battery storage technology.  Wright pegged the credit as an effort to make politicians “feel good” with few accomplishments. “These variable weather-dependent energy sources are heavily subsidized, which means there’s jobs to build those things in certain communities and politicians think that feels good," he said Tuesday. "But at the end of the day, the result of them has been more expensive electricity in the United States, less reliable grid and the continual outsourcing of energy-intensive jobs out of our country." “Like this is absolutely the wrong direction, and President Trump got elected to stop that nonsense. Bring back common sense. People want affordable products," Wright continued. "They want reliable electricity. They want manufacturing jobs in the United States." Later in the segment, Wright also suggested global warming could be a positive factor for humans on Earth. “Ten times more people die of the cold every year than die of the warm. So a little bit warmer planet means a little less risky for human beings," the Energy chief said. "Of course, there’s positives to global warming and there’s negatives too." Researchers have noted an extreme rise in the melting sea ice in Arctic regions leading to the destruction of livable landmasses in Greenland and West Antarctica, which has posed threats for humans and animals, as an example of global warming, according to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The speed and magnitude of the sea-level rise could cause persistent challenges for coastal regions including widespread loss of agricultural land, infrastructure and livelihoods, the conservation organization explained.
