Day 14:

We all hit our rough patches. After all, it’s not life without them. Did something ever make you stop watching the show? Did you love for it fizzle out somewhere along the way? What’s your story, your real story?

If I ever drop an interest it’s normally because something else pulls it, I stuck with TFP until the end, and after that since there was no new content I got into animated movies, which eventually just helped to boost my love and interest in in animation. I will honestly say there was a personal rough patch very early on in season 1 for me. When TFP first aired my Grannies had been fighting ovarian cancer and various infections, and I remember she had been on a slow downward decline when the episodes were coming out. She wound up passing away that year. I remember being such a mess because I had said goodbye to her two days before she passed and I just wanted to forget it was happening, even for a bit, and then I realized that I had an episode of TFP to watch, it was Deus Ex Machina. I think for most people stuff like this makes them stop watching, but if anything it helped me then. It helped a little bit, watching Miko and Bulkhead search for an ancient artifact and not think about anything else, and that’s really the best thing this series gave me. Thank you Transformers Prime.

Day 11 of the TFP 15 Day Challenge: Favorite Funny Moments of TFP

I don’t think there could ever be enough room to list all of the funny moments I loved, but when I read the question, this was the first moment that came to mind XD Here Megatron shows just how biased he is for Soundwave (and he has been since G1, trust me); he praises Soundwave over all of his other officers, personally oversees Sounders’ medical examination, and then just raises an eyebrow when a grenade goes off on his ship. “Huh. Guess that might’ve done some damage. Several members of my army, including our only medic, might be dead now. But hey, I’m talking with Soundwave, so I don’t give a crap. Anyway, as I was saying...”

It’s messed up, but the completely unconcerned expression on his face when the grenade goes off -- It gets me laughing every time XD

Drifting back to the serious, TFP had its moments of quiet and mourning, of loss and friendship. What was your favorite heartfelt or heartbreaking moment of the series?

Ooh my grief... well, I think everyone and their shadow agrees what happened with Breakdown was fucking tragic, but it really REALLY hit home when Knockout first sees “Silas-Breakdown”.

I mean.... WOW... you can fucking see the dawning realization on KO’s face when he realizes that the mech in front of him was NOT Breakdown. And the fact that it’s Breakdown’s corpse?

I really fucking feel for Knockout. We never see him grieve, we see anger and hatred and it was well deserved, but that one moment when KO’s eyes widen at seeing Breakdown’s body being used as a puppet to a gross little human.

It gets me, man.

TFP Challenge - Day 7

It’s not a TF series without a few pesky humans. Fortunately, TFP gave us some pretty solid ones! Who’s your favorite human sidekick?

Before I even watched the show, I heard so many people giving Miko shit for being annoying, loud, unnecessary and I did have my reservations about her from that negativity I heard, but you know what?

She turned out to be one of my favorite TF humans throughout the various continuities. 

Yes, she’s loud. At times, yes, she can be annoying. But she’s a teenage girl who is unapologetic about who she is, what she likes, and who she cares about. She is everything that I wanted to be when I was her age. Miko doesn’t conform to society’s expectations of her - especially, she doesn’t conform to the Japanese society she comes from - but she embraces that non-conformity and doesn’t take any shit from anyone. She jumped at the chance to move to America, where she had more freedom to be the person she wanted to be and, having taken that chance, got to experience something amazing when she continued to take chances, like run after Jack and Arcee, get involved with the Autobots, and help take down Decepticons.

And I would never call her unnecessary. She, more than Jack and Raf, was pivotal to many fights, especially when she joined the Wreckers with the use of the Apex Armor, but even before then, she was the one who encouraged her friends to get involved and step up. While her eagerness to help in a fight could often lead to trouble, she ended up being a big asset to the Autobots.

On top of all of that, Miko makes connections to her friends, bonding with Bulkhead immediately, later with Arcee as they come to terms with their common pain over their partners, and with Wheeljack over their friendship with Bulkhead and similarities to each other. Jack and Raf are her friends and she cares about both of them a lot. She holds her friends close and isn’t afraid to fight to protect them in whatever way she can. 

I really do love Miko as a character. I can relate to her a lot and while I would physically fight to protect her, I know she doesn’t need anyone fighting her battles for her.

Day 6: TFP Challenge

Oh, Primus, where do I even start? How do I give you guys just the tip of the iceberg residing in my head? I have dozens of these things, I really do. Okay, let’s pick a simple one: Alpha Trion. One of only three of the Thirteen to not have “Prime” affixed to his name, I think that originally, he actually did. I have a headcanon that Alpha Trion, at some point, changed his name to allow himself some anonymity on Cybertron. Because most of the other Thirteen Primes, everyone knows their names... except for the Thirteenth, of course, whose name was written out of history with the Quill and the Covenant. It’s actually not possible for the general populace to remember his name because the other members of the Thirteen, specifically Alpha Trion, deliberately protected him at his own request.

But everyone else in the set? Even Megatronus, who discarded his name when he left Cybertron, “forevermore” to be known as the Fallen? He didn’t discard it all that well, Megatron still borrowed it. People still know it. The legends lived on. Solus Prime’s name is commonly tossed around, everyone knows her, too. “Sweet Solus Prime!” says Fixit, often. Okay, so that’s RiD15, but it’s still the same continuity. So we definitely know that at least some of the other names, if not all of them, have survived. The Thirteen are one of the most important parts of the lore of Cybertron, right up there with Primus and Unicron themselves. So for nobody, not even Orion Pax, to look at Alpha Trion and go “Hey, don’t you have the same name as one of the Thirteen?” In the book Exodus, a young Orion Pax wonders... even suspects... but never, ever gives thought to the name. Yeah. I think he changed it back there somewhere. After all, there’s (very vague) evidence that in some continuities, Alchemist Prime did the same thing. There are hints that in some storylines, Alchemist walks Cybertron long after the war has ended under this other name. And nobody suspects a thing. I think Alpha Trion did that, too.

In my head I like to call him “Trios Prime” and he can deal with it until my idea is either shot down or made canon with a better name.

I don’t actually have a OTP for Prime. I have casual ships. My casual ones are: Cliffjumper x Arcee, Knockout x Breakdown, and Wheeljack x Ratchet.

the rest I’m either indifferent about or they just don’t suit my fancy.

TFP Challenge Day 11

Though the show has its drama, it has some wonderful humor. And…some wonderfully cracky shorts. What’s your favorite funny moment of TFP? And yes, this totally includes Ask Megatron and whatever other short content that got produced. By adults. The decked out Nemesis is fair game, it’s totally canon.

Oh man there are so many hilarious parts. I think what I like the most is when Starscream tries to make up lame excuses for the stuff he does.

“There I was, minding my own business, and then my arm just FALLS OFF!!!”

“I left footprints so you could find me and rescue me from my captor!”

No one’s buying it! Does he even think anyone will buy it? Is he just trying to talk long enough to come up with something better? Who even knows, but he’s so funny. The best parts are when he mixes total seat of his pants bullshitting with actual cunning and pulls off escapes or whatever because he just keeps everyone so off balance.

I also like the times he thinks out loud and blurts things out, then tries to backtrack, and when he’s just sarcastic. And his face. And his squeakiness. He’s a mess and I love that about him.

Also, Megatron’s low key sarcasm and utter lack of concern for his people is funny, even though it’s pretty messed up. It’s mostly the timing. When Knockout was trying to dispose of the grenade Wheeljack planted in Laserbeak, and Megs is talking to Soundwave, there’s a distant explosion sound and he just pauses for a moment before continuing like nothing happened. Or when Shockwave is trying to blind Starscream and Starscream asks him if he’s going to let one lieutenant harm another, and Megatron just goes “I’m thinking.”

Ratchet’s humor is similar. I love how grumpy he is, and how he hates having to do things outside his routine, or be nice to people. He’s so blunt and done with everything.

TFP Challenge Day 15

Now why did I take this challenge? Well as a TFP fan I like to stand by my fandoms. And express my love for them. I mean you only live once so do it with a smile on your face doing things you enjoy. I took this challenge because it sounded like fun. And I had a lot of fun doing it. It gave me a chance to express myself. And by answering questions I always gain new insight about myself. When you answer questions not only does it help others to get to know you better but it can help you understand yourself a little better too. So I love being asked about my interests because it let's me express myself and I have fun doing it. Because at the end of the day that's what fandoms are all about having fun.

Day 12 (Yesterday): Favorite Sad Moment

Man, Jeffery Combs did such an amazing job portraying the fact that Ratchet is absolutely devastated at the loss of the Omega Lock. I tear up almost every time I hear the ongoing joke -- “I needed that!” -- turned into this trembly, heartfelt plea. “We needed that...” It’s so simple but so powerful -- not to mention his face. He can’t even begin to process the hopelessness he feels now; he feels like he’s been betrayed by his best friend and he feels completely isolated from everything he’s ever known. Just... this scene, dang it, this scene. </3

Day 13: Favorite OTP or BROTP 

Well, given how upset I get when I see the scene above, you can probably guess that my favorite relationship on the show, period, is Optimus/Ratchet. I know a lot of people ship them romantically, but I feel that they have something both intimate and platonic. Yes, there can be both. Smut is not the only kind of intimacy and these two know it well. They’re so gentle and knowing with each other. They have something special, something the others don’t quite understand, despite being close to both of them. 

Optimus and Ratchet hold each other up; it’s quite clear that without each other, they start to crack under the strain and burdens of their roles. Optimus needs the treatment Ratchet provides: the care, the protective backup, the listening ear, and yes, even powerful leaders need to be chastised and advised. Ratchet doesn’t need treatment; he simply needs Optimus: the mech who can pull him out of wrenching homesickness and the anger and stress of his work, who can gentle him when he finds himself getting lost in the bitterness of so much war. 

They’re entwined. They love and complete each other, not romantically, but by simply being the things they know the other can’t. Ratchet reminds Optimus of what they’re really fighting for. Optimus reminds Ratchet how to fight.

Finally, why are you doing this challenge? I mean, we know the initial reason, but this was also meant as a way to rekindle that spark for the show and fandom, one I feel we needed when the Covenant came out. You’re back now for however brief a time. Why?

Transformers Prime was my gateway into this whole damned fandom. I owe it so much and I’m glad this spark has come back for so many of the fans for this series. I do get sad that the show isn’t going anymore because there was so much fun stuff that went on and was created while the show was still going.

I’m so glad to see stuff more it getting picked back up again.

Also I’m going to do a liveblog of the series starting tomorrow. My followers need to get ready at me being angry at the autobots, being very angry at the humans and absolutely gush about how much I love the decepticons.... with smattering of me talking about what fucking idiots the decepticons can be sometimes cause wow, there is some over-dramatic bad decisions abound for those lovely bastards.

15 day challenge - Day #10

As we know, Transformers is a show meant To Sell Toys. You got any? What’s your favorite? Which one wants to make you throw it across the room in frustration because dear God, please help the poor child that attempts to transform that First Edition Bumblebee??

Oh man, I have quite a few toys! Not many of them are too great though. I have god knows how many bot shots, y’know, these ones. Also those rid2015 tiny titans, got a lot of them as well as RiD strongarm, ultra magnus, steeljaw and a bayverse drift.

My favourite figure by far however is my TFP Shockwave! He’s full sized and a pain to transform but he’s great for pictures and posing. Here’s a few of him trying to use my cats to build a cat army in order to take over the world!

The TFP 15 Day Challenge!

Day 9

I'm going to admit that most headcanons I'm going to list have been ideas that I've heard/read about around the fandom or the RP group I was in that I generally agree with/like. Hence I incorporated them into my own stories and so on. That and when it comes to some ideas I can't clearly remember if they were my original thoughts or I heard them from somewhere else. Either way these are some of the headcanons that I really like so I'm going to share them anyway. I hope this still counts. Also forgive me if I can't remember everything clearly. It's been a long time since I've been involved in the TF fandom.

Some of these headcanons include:

There are different bonds that two or more Cybertronians can share. They can be parental bonds, sibling bonds, guardian bonds, a bond form between Trines and the bond formed between mates. Each bond is different in terms of strength. A bond between mates is generally the strongest bond two or more Cybertronians can share. Allowing the pair to experience each other's past memories as the bond is formed, creates a link that would allow thoughts and emotions to be shared between the two and even pain. It creates such a powerful link between the bots that if the bond is ever severed (such as one breaking the bond themselves or the bond is broken through death) it can create immense pain to the other bot or even kill them.

Trine bonds among Seekers work in a similar way so that the three Seekers are always connected to each other in one way or another and can easily communicate to each other. This was especially important during times of war where this sort of bond was needed to be as effective as possible. But this bond can vary in terms of strengths depending on how close the individual Seekers are to each other. The closer they are the stronger the bond. Sometime the bond among Trines can turn into the bond of mates if the Seekers are close romantically.

It is very common for a Seeker to have two mates.

Cybertronians have different threat displays depending on types. Seekers and Fliers generally flare out their wings to make themselves look bigger. Grounders may rev up their engines and/or flash their lights and if they have doors that stick up on their backs they can be flared like wings. Cybertronians with animal alt modes or techno-organics would growl, bare their teeth, extend their claws and so on. Some Cybertronians can control this better than others. This usually happens when the bot is really angry or under threat.

Seekers are extremely protective of their young. Their parental instincts are so strong that if they deem you a threat in any way they will not hesitate to attack. This is way the very idea of messing with a sparkling belonging to a Seeker is a seriously bad idea and others will think of you as crazy if you try anything. Basically you might as well sign your own death certificate.

Grounders and Fliers will generally have one or two sparklings at a time. But for Seekers it is more common for them to have twins or triplets.

I'm going to admit that when it comes to Cybertronians interfacing and having sparklings my ideas are that it’s done exactly the same as humans (with minor differences such as two mechs can have a sparkling together and so on. Most of you in the fandom will know what I mean). I just like reading/seeing those depictions better. But there is nothing wrong if you like other depictions or ideas on how it is done.  

The positions of a Seeker's wings can sometimes tell you how they are feeling. Lowered or completely down can indicated they are scared, nervous or sad. Flared up shows they are angry or feel threaten. Fluttering can show they are happy or are flirting with another bot etc.

Sparks can be different colors though the most common would be blue.

Not only is the spark the heart of a Cybertronian it is essentially their soul. Everything about who that Cybertronian is, their personalities, memories and more are held within that spark.

I know there is more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. And like I said it has been a while. But those are some of the headcanons that I like best.

Day 15: Tfp Challenge

Finally, why are you doing this challenge? I mean, we know the initial reason, but this was also meant as a way to rekindle that spark for the show and fandom, one I feel we needed when the Covenant came out. You’re back now for however brief a time. Why?

I’m still new to this fandom and I don’t want to see it fade. 

I’m “back” because I don’t want something this amazing to go. 

I want to stay, this time.

....... hello, my name is Sparkpulse, and if you follow my blog, you know my OTP. Aw, man, I had these ideas on how I was going to describe what makes Knock Out and Breakdown just perfect to me and all the meta and headcanons that go with them but honestly, I don’t even know where to start. Their attitudes towards each other, the humor they share, the way Knock Out just slowly starts falling apart without Breakdown until in the end he switches sides so easily, the Decepticon cause had nothing for him without his partner. The very idea that Breakdown would sit and help Knock Out with his buffing, his personal maintenance... in Sparkpulse Headcanon Land, helping someone with personal maintenance can be very intimate. It’s a sign that you trust someone enough to put your wellfare into their hands. It’s a sign that you love someone enough to want to be sure, personally, that they’re in top shape. And man, these two just sit and spoon-feed me that without ever actually showing it on screen. Then IDW had to pick up the slack and come on, be nice for me. Aaah and Takara’s latest little comic run just makes me want to sing, it’s perfect, it’s so perfect. I seriously can’t give a coherent reason why I love these two so much. I’ll just gush endlessly. So let’s move on.

Ratchet is, of course, one of those characters that people get very passionate about, especially who he’s paired with. Especially the RatchetxOptimus fans. Sorry to those guys (and I can feel my brother judging me for saying that) but for me, it’s Wheeljack all the way. Because Ratchet and Wheeljack have the one thing that gets me every time; they make each other grow. In adjusting to one another, they learn to compromise. They learn to do things for one another. Wheeljack comes back to the team for Ratchet. And he sticks around. He plays nice because it will make Ratchet happy, or at least make things less difficult for him. And when the ‘cons grab the medic, it’s Jackie who gets out the toolbox and works with Rafael to get him back. Wheeljack matures through his interactions with Ratchet, and Ratchet opens up in return just a bit. So yeah. I ship it.

I also have a massive weakness for Cliffjumper, Arcee, and what could have been... and in the same vein, I look at Megatronus and Orion Pax as the ultimate dagger to the spark. It could have been so good, but it went so very, very bad. I do not (typically) ship Megatron and Optimus Prime despite the fact that yes, they, too, make each other grow. I just can’t. It fell apart so very, very tragically. But oh, what could have been...
