So, I'm binge watching The Littles - a cartoon from the 80's that part of my very early childhood. I loved that show. Dinky Little was always my favorite.
The worldbuilding in this is actually really good, and very detailed. They also go into some dark and heavy subjects for Saturday Morning kids show.
I forgot that the creators put a lot of effort into the worldbuilding. The Littles have an entire civilization with unique ways of surviving as 2"-3" tall people in a human world. They have a fire department, some manufacturing, and a road system. They have a civil defense council, and an intricate communications system linking different observation outposts around the city. They eventually start to recognize Dr. Hunter's trailer, and send warnings to all the other littles where he is and to avoid him.
I know it's a kid's show, but it's part of my past I really enjoyed.
The person who uploaded the whole show also caught commercials from the era. AND I REMEMBER THEM!!!
They played long after their air date, but I haven't seen OG Readmore the cat since I was a single digit. :)
It feels nice to go back to that time for a bit, and just enjoy a simple show.
I'm happy that my nostalgia for it actually holds up. I remember it as being a great show, and it actually is good show.
Just in case there are any other millennials out there who remember and loved The Littles, here you go. :)

at least it's not texas hot, devon thought, adjusting the bag on his shoulder.
it was actually quite a cool day; the perks of seattle. he didn't know anyone here, not really, but the weather was nice. he kept to the sidewalks, reviewing directions in his head as he walked. it was another five miles to the office, but he'd walked for longer.
it was a bummer. he was trying not to think about it too hard, if he were honest with himself. he'd liked michael and sarah. nothing gold can last, or whatever the quote was.
his phone was off. he might have access to an outlet at the office, but he'd rather conserve the battery, just in case. he could use it when he needed it. his shoes were still in good shape, that was good. it wasn't *likely* that he'd be out on the street, but it had happened once before. his emergency cash could get him a night or two at a motel, maybe--
"devon! devon!"
he stopped instinctively, frowning. shit. he'd hoped he'd have a little more time.
the car pulled up at the curb where he was and sarah rushed out, immediately pulling him into her. devon flinched, but she hadn't seened to notice. "oh my god, devon! what were you thinking!" she had one arm around his shoulders, the other holding his head. she was shaking, he noticed.
"it's fine," he said, trying to pull back. "sarah-- it's fine. i'm not gonna get you in trouble or whatever."
"what?" she pulled back to look at him, one hand moving to cup his cheek. "devon, *what* are you talking about? we woke up and you were gone, we were so scared--"
"you're pregnant." it came out more blunt than he'd intended, but he couldn't help it. sarah was rambling.
her brow knit. devon noticed how red her eyes were. "wh--"
"you and michael were talking about it, last night. i overheard." he adjusted the bag on his shoulder, hiking it up so it wouldn't fall. "you're pregnant. congratulations, by the way."
"...thank you." her confusion hadn't lifted. "devon, were you going to leave because i'm pregnant?"
his weight shifted. "...you were fostering me 'cause you couldn't have your own kids," he said finally. he wasn't supposed to know that. he knew lots of things he wasn't supposed to. "but now you are, so you don't need me around anymore. which, like, is fine, y'know? i'll just go back to anne and--"
"devon." her voice was firm, even as her eyes watered. a knot of unease settled in his stomach. "devon, did you think we'd abandon you just because we're pregnant?"
devon hesitated. this felt like a trick question. he wasn't gonna get them in trouble, honest; he would just tell anne that the placement wasn't working out, and he'd find another family, and move on from there. "...you'll have your own kid," he said finally, brow furrowed.
"devon, you are our kid," sarah said. she sounded... hurt. devon hadn't expected that. "if-- if you aren't happy with us anymore, we'll deal with that. but we aren't letting you go without a fight. we love you. and i'm--" she took a shuddering gasp, collecting herself. "i'm sorry that you don't know that. i'm sorry that we haven't shown you that."
oh.
devon swallowed past the sudden lump in his throat. "i didn't-- i didn't think..."
"devon..." sarah smoothed one hand over his hair, then pulled him in close again. this time, he let her. there was a tension draining out of him that he hadn't realized he was holding. she held him, and slowly, he let one arm wrap back around her.
"i know we aren't your parents," she said, voice thick. "i know you don't want us to be. and that's okay. but you're still our kid. and we aren't going to give you up." she kissed the side of his head; when had he gotten as tall as her? "and i'm gonna spend every day, for as long as it takes, to prove that to you. okay?"
it took him a moment, but he nodded.
"okay." another kiss, then she pulled back to look at him. "let's go home, okay?"
for the first time in a long time, he felt like he was.
