finished: a short history of queer women - kirsty loehr

ugh this book. i was told every lesbian needs to read this book. I read it. and was greatly disappointed. the information was decent, but it was written in a very millennial humor style and it was cringe. this book failed to discuss trans or poc in queer history, we'd be nowhere in the queer community without poc trans women so I take a lot of issue with that. let's just say I forced myself to finish it and didn't give a nice rating.

now this book, i loved. I've been on a nonfiction kick this year which is not usual for me. this is really a beautiful book and I think every person ever should read it.

gave 2 stars: the housemaid's secret - freida mcfadden

this book was just horrendous, a generous two stars honestly. it was a sequel and I didn't love the first one I don't know why I even read this one, the plot twist is incredibly predictable and almost a carbon copy of the first book with new characters.

TJ Grant ended his UFC career on a five fight win streak that was capped off with a KO of Gray Maynard which guaranteed him a title shot at Ben Henderson. Of course that's a what if fight we never got to see because Grant ended up retiring due to catching a concussion in training and ultimately decided that the money in MMA wasn't worth the damage he was taking (Seeing as things are now he was right lol)

But this guy was a dog. Somebody you should definitely look up if you're unfamiliar.

You also know what's crazy? That fight against Gray Maynard was at UFC 160. The same card where Cain Velasquez murdered Big Foot for a second time, JDS caught Mark Hunt with a crazy spinning wheel kick. And names like Max Holloway, Khabib, Wonderboy and Robert Whittaker were still fighting on prelims.

AU Bot Plot

This is actually an idea I've had for a while now. It is an Inuyasha AU, but it's based on another fic. The only background that's necessary here is that Inuyasha is a mega-celebrity and the story is them becoming friends and falling in love. Kagome is just a regular high school girl. This idea I had (and btw, am never going to write) is based on a scene near the beginning where someone asked for Kagome's autograph because she is famous now for winning this prize, and Inuyasha helpfully tells her not to get used to it because she's going to go back to being nobody soon (I know, what a treat, right?). So my crazy, sexy, cool brain goes, "What if there was another reason Kagome was asked for her autograph? What if she was famous for something very niche that neither Inuyasha nor his entourage would have known about?"

Preamble over. Here's the actual plot my brain won't let go of.

Kagome is incredibly smart. TJ Henderson smart, and although she's only 17, she's already working on her masters in engineering. When she was asked for her autograph, the girl who asked was also aspiring to go into the STEM field, and Kagome was a legend in that particular crowd. Sometime during the course of her stay at Inuyasha's mansion, she has an epiphany and figures out artificial gravity.

A few years later, in a sequel I'm not writing to the fic I didn't write, some drama and some action and some adventures ensue. Kagome and Inuyasha actually fall in love just in time for her invention to be ready to install on the ISS and it's major worldwide news. Inuyasha can't believe that anyone would think that he's dating down by dating an inventor instead of a model or actress. He tells an interviewer that he's just a celebrity and the best he can hope for is the cover of magazines, but his girlfriend is going to be in history books.

She does go to space to oversee the installation of her invention, and it ends with a sweet reunion and a gift exchange between the pair. She has a photograph of Japan that she took from the space station. He has an engagement ring.😭
