Let's build Taskly, a handy to-do iOS application. We've been given some design mocks from our designer for what they want Taskly to look like, and it's our job to make it happen (no ifs, ands, or buts). It's our job to go above and beyond to exceed the expectations of our designers while writing safe and clean Swift code. Taskly will be built from scratch and all the assets will be provided to you. We'll make use of a UITableViewController to display our tasks and apply MVC and Dependency Injection to ensure separation of concerns. What's a to-do list without a way to save it? Storing the tasks will be possible because of UserDefaults and archiving. Taskly will be built from the ground up and even intermediate programmers will be able to pick up useful concepts and information from this course. There's a lot of questions that will be addressed, such as, what design patterns should we use? Once we're satisfied with how the app looks, we'll get to compare it with the original design mocks to see if our work meets expectations.  All in all, Taskly will quickly fill any gaps in knowledge you have about building an iOS application and set a foundation up for you to build your own apps. The participants were asked to sort the cards into self-named categories. They were given cards with terms from the core features that had been defined in the user research and other parts that would be necessary on Taskly’s website. In order to create a sitemap for Taskly, I conducted an in-person card sorting with five participants. User Experience Map for Felicias goal to travel from New York to Japan. I created a customer experience map in order to visualize the journeys the persona Felicia Gaspar may experience when using Taskly for her goal to travel to Japan. Task Model for Felicas goal to travel from New York to Japan. For the task model, I chose the persona Felicia Gaspar and her goal to travel from New York, USA, to Japan. Task modeling is a powerful tool to gain insight into the needs and desires of users, which is why it can be an important step in the UX design process. Those personas were essential for the design process of Taskly. User Research Personasīased on the research conducted so far, I created three user personas that represent Taskly’s target group and ideal customers. Because of that, I decided that it would be best for Taskly’s strategy to emphasize private individuals, freelancers, and small businesses.

Missing feature to collaborate with others.Īfter conducting the interviews, it was clear that the market for project management apps is quite satisfied with solutions for professional users and big teams.The app looks cluttered, the user has no clear overview.Organizing projects and keeping them up to date takes a lot of time.The following problems should be solved by Taskly: The interviewee’s answers were taken to help to refine Taskly’s MVP features. The purpose was to gain further insights regarding the core features that should be included in Taskly. The survey findings were then to be specified by qualitative data by conducting in-person user interviews. The integration of other services does not seem to be as widely wished for as I expected. Cluttered dashboards or lists seem to be an issue. Adding tasks or other content seems to take too much effort for users, so they rely on less flexible but easier to use solutions like pen and paper or analog calendars.Īlso, people want a clear overview of their tasks. The usability of task management apps seems to be an issue. The survey showed that task management apps are not as commonly used as one might have thought. First, I conducted an online user survey using Survey Monkey to gain an insight on how task management apps are used, how users organize their projects and tasks, and which pain points may lead users to change the app or go back to using pen and paper. In the next step, it was time to take a closer look at Taskly’s potential users. For this, three competitors were chosen and carefully analyzed in points of marketing profile, SWOT profile, UI and UX design, content, design, and performance.īased on those findings, it was possible to define Taskly’s first core features. To gain an understanding of Taskly’s industry and potential customers, a competitor analysis was conducted in the beginning. Based on the tests' results, Taskly’s design has been refined with each step. Each step of the process has been tested with members of the target group. The design process of Taskly is based on a user-centered approach. The following Tools were used: Adobe Xd, Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Photo, Balsamiq Mockups, InVision, Prott, Survey Monkey, Usability Hub. The challenge was to design a Minimal Viable Product (MVP) for fictional stakeholders including every step of the design process. Taskly is a project management app concept that has been created during an intensive 3-month UX Design course at CareerFoundry.

Of course, I don’t think of Dominic as equal to me in terms of evilness. I am definitely the worse one out of the two. Although we both like to fight, I dedicated more than eight hours of my day just to get better at it. Although we are both short, he does not decide to physically hurt those who are taller than him. Although we are both ill-tempered, it is as if he has it controlled, for the better. For myself?

It’s like… it’s a prison master, and my hands are chained forceably towards it. My anger is the one that dominates every other emotion in my body, and I hurt the people I care about. I have even come close to punching my own mother, in frustration of my own choices. See how terrible I am? Dominic may think of us as one of the same, but we are far too different in these ways.

At least, from what I have seen, he has a loving relationship with his own mother. They seem to be on good terms, but I haven’t observed as much as I could. Observing others is a taskly thing that I must squeeze into the minutes of my schedule in which I am not already bombarded with other tasks. I do wonder what it would be like, to adopt your mother’s exact personality: because that is exactly what Dominic has done.

He is the epitome of what a son that has adopted directly from his mother, and has kept it. And it is so easy to be angry, to be embarrassed, and to forgive, as well. It’s so… so easy. He doesn’t have the burden of where I stand. He is angry, but he is free. He is freer than I am.

That is how and why we are different from each other. I hope Dominic does not find himself in me. I am definitely more horrible than he is.
