There has been a recent uptick in chatter about chatbots, and many large corporations are getting into the game. And with good reason: analysts predict that by 2020, chatbots will be an integral part of customer service operations at major banks and financial institutions.
In this blog post we'll look at why it's such a boon for companies to invest in this technology, as well as what some of the main challenges are when it comes to designing chatbots from an engineering standpoint.

As you can see from that definition, chatbots are different from just having a conversation with a human agent. A chatbot is completely automated and programmed to behave in a very specific way, whereas a customer service rep will have to think of an appropriate response at all times.
